I used to be a patron of Marsha Nadalin because Kahala Mall is right by my house, so it's very convenient. One of the old managers was GREAT. She ran a pretty tight ship, so every single customer, including walk-ins were taken care of ASAP. I remember I came in for a haircut appointment and my hair stylist was lagging and the manager noticed this and had one of the receptionists shampoo, do a deep conditioning treatment, and a scalp massage, along with, a 10% off discount for my haircut. However, whenever I got my hair cut at the salon, I was never fully satisfied or in love with it, so, I stopped going there. I also got my eyebrows waxed a few times here, as well, which was a big mistake. The cosmetologist that I had made the wax way too hot, which, in turn, burnt me. This happened TWICE. Their services cost an arm and a leg for subpar service. It's ridiculous. Anyway, I still frequent the salon to buy hair products because they have SO MUCH of them and as I said in the beginning, it's right by my house and I went in the other day to buy hair products. When I walked in, I saw the receptionist just standing behind the register, on her phone. She did not greet me, asked me if I had an appointment, nor offered to help me decide what type of hair product I was looking for. In fact, I was in there, looking at all the hair products for TEN minutes and the WHOLE ENTIRE TIME, the receptionist was glued to her phone. She did not even look up ONCE to acknowledge me. Also, she was not busy doing any tasks nor helping anyone. Then, I grabbed a hair product to smell it and FINALLY the receptionist paid attention to me, but she was VERY rude. She practically yanked the bottle out of my hand and told me in a really mean tone that if I wanted to smell any of them, to just bring them up to the counter and she'll take care of it. After about another five minutes, I was so overwhelmed that I went up to the receptionist for help, but, alas, she was no help at all. I would give them no stars if I could. I encourage everyone to reconsider coming to Marsha Nadalin and instead, go to Paul Brown, Bobby n' Guy, or my hair lady, Tiara. All of them offer the same services as Marsha Nadalin does and is around the same price, but WAY BETTER! read more

I was the lucky recipient of a gift certificate for a french mani/pedi at Marsha Nadalin's. I love me a pampering, so I was totally eager to go. Little did I know that it would take THREE hours to complete the job! I was even more shocked when the sales lady rang up my purchase and I found out that the services cost over $100! It's one thing if you're being luxuriously pampered for three hours, but another if it just takes your nail lady forever to do everything. Aside from the 15 minutes of massaging I got, I spent most of my time feeling bored and restless. The nail area is just a tiny little space on the side of the salon, too, so it was pretty cramped with all the chairs and roll away foot baths. Not relaxing in the least. I felt so badly that my friends had spent so much money for something so mediocre. I could justify those services for about $35 (I've been more pleased with my $25 mani/pedi at the hole in the wall salon), but it was tragically disappointing from a salon that pretends to be so high end. I'll save my money and never go back, not even for my hair. How can anyone take a place seriously when they charge a hundred bucks for nail painting??? read more

I go back with my mom and she recommends we go to Marsha nadalin I was nervous at first but we go anyways. I tried the Salon on a whim and am happy to forget about the experiment and go back to my existing stylist at Salon 808. The stylists seem to cater to older women, and some men. My stylist didn't really know what to do with my hair, even after lookin at pictures, and did such a bad job I had to go pay full price to have someone else fix her mistakes. read more

Okay I have been going here for about ten years now since I was a teenager! I even had my prom hair and makeup done here. I love this salon and there are two people I really like that's Teresa and CJ. Teresa has been here a long time and was trained as an apprentice in the salon she is super nice and friendly and can do makeup as well. CJ did my hair before my wedding just a normal haircut but I have to say it was the best haircut I have ever had in my life the pictures for the wedding turned out great. I would say if you want a fabulous haircut someone who really listens and she does great haircuts for long hair. Definitely ask for CJ she won't let you down. If you want the best haircut ask for Marsha but she is expensive 80-100 an hour. Okay this salon gets super busy so make sure you call ahead to get an appointment. read more

A few months ago I took my mom here to get her hair cut. The stylist did an outstanding job, and the my mom got a lot of compliments on her cut. Last week my mom went back and the same stylist did a hack job. The stylist was distracted by her husband impatiently waiting for her to finish my mom's cut so they could go to lunch together. My mom's poor hair was WAY shorter than requested and the stylist was not friendly or chatty this time. Life is too short to waste time on an inconsistent hair stylist. Next time I'm taking mom to Chop, where the stylists are friendly and the quality is consistent. read more

I'd gone to Marsha since before she had her salon. I haven't been in a long time now because she became more and more and more distracted while doing my hair. At the same time her price went up and up. Color/highlights, cut, & blow dry never under $200. Went at this time due to a gift certificate. The various people who do the hair washing (with EXCELLENT scalp massage) do a great job. THAT part has remained consistently good. read more

I hate to even review this salon at 2-stars, and I feel I'm being generous, but it's the honest truth. 5 stars for convenient and fast scheduling: I called asking for a particular stylist (based on the Yelp! reviews), but she wasn't available. They then suggested another stylist (who I had read about on Yelp! too, but nothing extremely amazing or horrible ratings), so I thought, why not. The appointment was for my 12-yo daughter who needed a little trim. 5 stars for service: The front desk girl was friendly and inviting, and even our stylist was sweet. She chatted with my daughter the whole time (I left for half the time), and was sociable with me when I returned. 2 stars for the actual cut: Before she started the haircut, we talked about what the goal of the haircut was to be - create layers for more movement, as my daughter had a very blunt straight line cut, and cut about 3-4 inches off. The cut wasn't very good, in fact, I thought that it didn't looked finished, and cut a few longer pieces to match the rest of the cut, then I realized those were her layers - but it wasn't "layers," per se, it was odd pieces left in certain areas that didn't flow well, again, reiterating that the cut wasn't finished! Needless to say, I wasn't impressed, and will not be returning. I shouldve seen the stylist I requested for in the beginning. Joslyn Paige at Salon Blanc is a master at cutting, which I will be returning to so she can fix this mess of a haircut! read more

I wanted to cry when I left. Worst salon I've been to. I went in to get a cut and go blonde, and was WELL aware that it wouldn't be exactly the same as the photo I brought. I wanted to be all over blonde, and Paul Anthony had me looking like a white version of the Jersey Shore! All I got was highlights of blonde on my Brown hair and it look horrendous. When I said I didn't like it, he told me to wait and see what compliments I get before I come back to change it. I straight up said I wanted it changed NOW. I ended up leaving with pretty much the same color I walked in with and and felt so dejected. I didn't make a scene because I didn't want to, and left a tip as well, but I won't be going back again. I am in LOVE! I absolutely adore this place...Tammy cuts my hair, she is phenom...to say the least. I moved here in June and dreaded having to go through the whole process of finding a new hairstylist that I can trust. The wife of a coworker told me about this salon and I decided to take a chance. The hairstylist that she normally goes to didn't have any appointments available so after a long conversation with the receptionist on the phone, I took a chance with Tammy...best decision ever. The day of my appointment rolled around and I'll admit I was a little nervous. I walked into the salon and everyone was super friendly. Tammy greeted me and took me to her work station. I gave her a brief and very vague explanation of how I pictured my hair and she went to work. She turned my hair from boring to glam in a matter of an hour. This is a review for a cut from Sydney and a color by Star. I had a cut in October by Sydney that was great. She's very sweet and gave me great layers. Star did my color this week and I was very happy. We talked ahead of time to determine the shade we'd highlight, more cool tones with a hint of warm, and chunkier so they'd grow out better. Her prices are affordable. She's very understanding, especially since I have awful vertigo and had to pause a few times during the service. Star also works quickly which is amazing since full highlights can take 4 hours, this only took about 2.5 hours. I really like that she had swatch samples so we were on the same page with coloring since "honey" can be interpreted a few ways based on your opinion. So by choosing swatch colors in person it prevents any disparity. The only downside was during booking I said I didn't want to pay the $40 for blow dry and styling after coloring in order to save money, but they did it anyways and charged me. After calling post-appointment to let them know I was disappointed, the manager called me back the same day and apologized for the misunderstanding and gave me a credit. That is truly 5 star service, and I know I'll continue to go back to these girls and this salon. Also, they have a great range of products and the girls help pick the best ones. I originally was unhappy with the shampoo & conditioner I bought and they do a full return to exchange it to a different, better product. Book early because they're super busy. I was so hesitant to go to anywhere to get my hair trimmed/shaped. I was trying to grow my hair out from a botched pixie cut that just made me feel like i looked like a man because they used clippers instead of shears for the back. So my cut had not much of that feminine look in the back at all. I definitely had anxiety that I'd end up with something worse and bring that my hair is already short I felt there was no help. I waited 2 months so I can give the next stylist more to work with. So, I finally decided it was time. After much research and reading of reviews and viewing pictures I decided on Marsha Nadalin. I didn't expect them to have openings on a Saturday, but figured I'd check and if not I would make an appointment. Lucky me, they had an opening! My stylist was Janea. She really educated me about my hair. I showed her what I was trying to get my hair to grow out too, an asymmetrical bob with undercut. So she made some recommendations and everything made sense so I had her do what she felt she needed to do. My hair is thick and full so she helped get rid of a lot of weight and shaped it nice. She did what she could do with the back despite how short it was and got it to have the feathered look like an actual pixie cut usually has. I am so pleased with my haircut. She was so friendly and really took the time to do my hair and educated me on how to take care of it. I was really hoping to go back to her, but she is moving off island! However, she made sure to refer me to someone who was great with the type of style I am looking to do. She even was able to introduce me to Sydney and told/show her what I was trying to do. I had a great experience from the front desk to stylist to check out. I definitely recommend coming here. I will be returning! read more

I came here twice before. One was in my sophomore year to get my really really long hair cut and the other time for my junior prom. The first time I came here, i LOVED my hair. I thought it looked great! I forget which stylist I had but she did a great job. I had REALLY long hair when I came in. It was down to my but. I wanted a cut but I was afraid of cutting it too short. So I came here and she layered it perfectly and it was pretty much exactly what I wanted. The sidebangs that she cut, which Im usually very picky about was PERFECT. She also cut everything little by little so that she made sure the length was okay and not too short. It was worth the $50 you spend here. I really wish I remembered the stylists name. The second time I came here was for junior prom. Not worth what I spent for. I wanted my hair curled in a pollyanna type style. Well she did do that, but it looked MESSY. Like it didnt look like neat curls, but messy curls which I didn't really like. She teased the hair too much I felt. The curls also didnt last long AT ALL. By the end of the night, most of my hair was straight already! The hairspray they used didn't last long at all. It was about $66 all together which was extremely expensive for a hairstyle that didnt even last more than 3 hours. I was pretty disappointed with this visit. The place itself is very sleek and modern looking. They sell a pretty wide variety of hair products and across the salon is the aveda salon where they sell a variety of Aveda products. I didn't come here since the last visit but maybe I'll be giving it a try again since my hair is getting pretty long again. read more

Today I went to Marsha Nadalin for a haircut, which I needed desperately for a while now! I called at 9 and got an appointment for 1 with Emma. I came early and was shown to a comfortable waiting area, and about 10 minutes before 1, I was greeted by Emma with a smile and a handshake. I got a scalp massage, shampoo, and cut for less than $50- a great price and I love my cut! Emma and I talked extensively before my cut about what I wanted, and she was honest with what we would be able to do with my length. Even though I wasn't able to do exactly what I wanted, she assured me when my hair was longer it would be possible and we settled on a cut that was somewhere close to what I wanted for my length. The cut didn't take long at all but came out really good, she was super friendly and she made sure I was happy with my cut at the end. When I left she gave me her card and a hug. Overall, a really great experience and value- I would definitely come again. Emma is super awesome! read more

FIVE STARS FOR WEDDING HAIR!!!! Marsha and Nikki did an amazing job with hair for my wedding. I had a large group- me (the bride), 5 bridesmaids, 2 flower girls, MOB and my soon to be mother in law! Everyone's hair came out flawless and exactly how I pictured it to look. They also did everyone in a timely manner. Nikki was so sweet and helped calm my nerves pre-wedding by making me laugh and telling stories. She created a wonderful stress free environment that made me relax and feel beautiful. I was surprised to see that this salon doesn't get better reviews. I guess the front receptionist could be a little more friendly but to be fair they do always seem busy and are multitasking whenever I go. Sometimes I get asked if I want something to drink sometimes I don't, not a big deal to me, but I guess if you like or are use to being pampered and waited on from the moment you walk in, it could bother you. As far as the stylist's, I've only tried one and had to only try one--Theresa . I originally found her from telling a girl I work with how nice her hair looked. She had longer hair and it was sooo nice how it was cut and layered. I have shorter hair so I was a little nervous to see if she could give me a nice cut too. And she did! I really like how Theresa cuts my hair and she always seems to be very consistent. She's also super duper sweet and really listens to what I want for my cut. I think the price is reasonable...but I also think it depends what stylists you get because I think some charge more than others. Oh, and you REALLY need to try the head massage that they do when they wash your hair! Amazing!! read more

Today was my first time getting a massage at marsha nadlin. I wouldn't say it feels like a spa, Bc it doesn't give a spa feeling. While receiving my massage u could hear the conversation in the next room. I felt the massage could have been better. She kept taking her hands off to reapply oil. I didn't feel the continuous flow during the massage. I wish she had spent more time on the areas I had mentioned that needed the most work. I had said my feet hurt from standing up all day, I felt she focused more on the tip if my foot rather than the ball of my feet. When I got outside after the massage I found her looking at the screen with her schedule, which she didn't notice I was standing behind her . Overall I would go again but maybe with another massage therapist. read more

I went there as a hair model. Unfortunately, on that day , they didn't have enough students to take me. The teacher offered me to do my hair. I wanted to match my highlights to my new hair extensions. She was rushing on me , put color all over my forehead, then finally wipe it 10 min later. On my way out , I had to pay !? They treat hair specifically for what it needs to be healthy. The bads: It is now very popular (and for a good reason) so it gets crowded from time to time and can feel a little overwhelming. I have been going to Mie at the Marsha Nadalin Salon for over 10 years. She does excellent work, and I'm happy to see that other reviewers think so as well. She understands my hair, and I always get the look that I want. In addition, she is friendly, personable, and professional. I can tell her when I need to get out in a hurry, and she always accommodate me. I've also been to see Jane for massage. She too is terrific, and if I had the money, I would visit her every week. Today was my very first time going to Marsha Nadalin. I mostly go to super cuts because its cheap. For this particular haircut, I wanted to pay more because I wanted my hair a specific way. So specific I had to watch a YouTube video on the instructions to give my hairstylist so that they knew how I wanted my hair. This is the very first hair salon I've gone to where they pre wash your hair for you. My hairstylist, Michelle, was super friendly and was very patient with my explanation of how I wanted my hair cut. She also informed me of specific lengths of how my particular haircut was and how it's styled slightly at an angled cut instead of a straight bob. Michelle did a great job. She wanted to see how my hair fell and if it was naturally wavy first before she decided to snip away at my locks. She cut my hair and styled it just like how they did in the video and in pictures I'd seen of my particular haircut. While cutting my hair she was very friendly and kept a smooth conversation going. Turns out she lives right up the road from me and we both go to work in kahala, HA! Honestly, for the price I paid, I would definitely come back to this salon. They're very professional and they do well with their clients. You can tell they really want their clients to have a great experience and feel satisfied with their haircut. Will be coming back when I want a new hairstyle and Michelle will be my go to girl! read more

I just got an amazing haircut from Reana! I'm attending a wedding in a couple of days and I didn't want to go to some Supercuts where they could potentially mess up my hair. I appreciated how attentive Reana was to what I had wanted but also comfortable enough to offer suggestions and recommendations. She spent a lot of time focusing on my fade and other details which is what I value as a customer. She was also personable and easy to talk to which makes the process so much better. Had my hair cut a couple of days ago here; I actually only come here for my haircut, and only with Deanne. She has a strong sense of style, backed up with good technique, and gives clients that sense of vavavavoom when leaving her chair at the end of the service. She may be the busiest stylist in the salon; at any given time she may have to run to check on several different clients with different hair treatments going on, which is why she has one or two assistants making sure that all is going well. During this last visit, I had a young lady shampoo my hair (3 star ), and a different one doing hand massage (1 star ). At check out, you end up having to tip three people, which really puts the $89 hair cut into the decadent category. But I still go. read more

I get that it's located in a rich part of oahu but in my opinion the service does not equal what you are paying for. I used to get partial highlights in my hair, my hair was shoulder length. The price started at $110 (okay I get it.) When I decided to go pixie, I would assume the price would go down because my hair is WAY shorter and they are using less product. NOPE. It actually went up because my hairstylist was new and she was undercharging me at $110. This is just for partial highlights this did not include a haircut. When speaking to the manager she apologized to me for not being informed but there was nothing she can do. When I told her I would not longer be coming back and if I could get the formula, my stylist used in my hair she said the don't give out formulas, WHAT??? I mean I don't think it's a big secret If you have the money and are mentally prepared to spend $200, easily for color, cut and tip then by all means go for it but I just can't justify going to a salon that will not change the price for the length of your hair, even if they are using WAY less product. read more

Got a gift certificate for $75 and used on a pedicure. Was disappointed- get much better pedicure at my $25 place. Sat in a computer desk chair! -very uncomfortable and the girl brought over a portable bin for the water which sloshed around as she moved it from the sink to my feet. She was very nice and painted my nails perfectly. Got a foot mask that set for a few minutes in a bag but wasn't much relaxing. Had a few dollars left over on the card and got talked into buying an expensive hair serum that doesn't work. Save your money - this place wasn't even smoke and mirrors-what you see IS what you get and that's just a bucket of water- it just didn't work. read more
