The fish tacos are always good. I like them with the sweet potato fries. Wings are slightly too saucy for my taste but very good. Blackened Salmon Salad was ok. The salmon was not fresh and th salad had 1 tomato and mostly iceberg which I despise. read more

I went here last night for dinner and waited for almost ten min after we were shown to the table before our waitress showed up. I Had the teriyaki chicken with fried rice and vegetables. You could have gotten more flavor out of a paper bag. Should change the menu item to bland chicken! The staff were friendly when they came around, however the chef or whoever they have in the kitchen needs to be replaced. The food has no flavor! The bartender did make a good drink! read more

Fried platter had great grouper and scallops, but old oysters and soggy shrimp. Two of us ate here 5/9/14, and it was flatly disappointing. I was expecting an environment similar to the Spanky's it replaces, so the noise level was no surprise. What did set me back was the food, which was really pretty sad. I ordered blackened grouper, a coastal favorite, but got an over-cooked piece of roasted fish slicked with some kind of mild spice blend, sans any hint of pepper. My dining partner ordered the steak and scallops plate. He asked for grilled, got sautéed, and they were desparately overcooked. My baked potato was ok, but wet from sitting hot in its foil. The coleslaw was grocery store blah, the bread was mushy and brushed with butter-flavored oil. No sign of the accompanying hush puppies promised in the menu description. Over- cooked seafood from a table overlooking a docked fishing boat -- the height of irony. And there was nothing about the price ($20+ for each entrée) that led me to expect low quality ingredients or poor execution. This is a fantastic watering hole with, I'm sure, great bar food. I did a quick search for the best Brunswick stew in Brunswick, and these are the guys that came up. It did not disappoint in the least!, Got myself some scallops with hush puppies to go with. And had what I think were the coldest Miller lights I've ever had, awesome refreshment in this time of global pandemic. Great spot, will be back again whenever I'm in town. read more

The shrimp was over cooked chewy and hard, the batter on it had no flavor. Oysters were horrible. Also, I'm not sure who taught them how to make cheese grits. We had just sat down and she was asking if we were ready. We said we need a few minutes. No exaggeration, ONE minute goes by and she asks again...then ONE minute later again. She was kind of pushy. It took forever to get my second drink. And even longer for my check. Had I known Crown on the rocks was $9.00 ($8.50 for the crown and .50 for the ICE!) I would not have got it. I never write reviews but last night was beyond terrible. Living in a resort town myself I understand how busy it can be. We were told it was a fourth five to an hour wait time. After waiting an hour and forty minutes we finally asked the hostess is we were ever going to be sat. They offered us a table outside that had been open pretty much the whole time. To be fair the weather seemed a little dicey but the could've asked way earlier. Then we were sat. We promptly ordered dinner. It took another hour to an hour and half to get our food. I understand when people are busy, but I watched another table come in after us, be seated, eat and leave before we got our food. Then the food arrive. One person got the steak and shrimp. The steak was supposed to be medium rare. It more so resembled a hockey puck. Our kids got the ribeye also supposed to be medium rare. The kids wouldn't eat it because they thought it was still alive. I got crab legs that tasted like they had been frozen, thawed, freezer burned, thawed, refrozen and then cooked. The waitress was apologetic but I've never been to a restaurant that took three and a half to four hours for a dining experience. We will never back. Frankly they should be embarrassed. The waitress knew we were unsatisfied and made no effort to offer anything to try to redeem the situation. read more

Normally one of my favorite local places to eat. Their "marsh hen fingers" (chicken tenders) are a local favorite along with the potato spuds. Great atmosphere, great view right on a tidal creek and marsh and live music on the deck on weekends. I will say I was a little underwhelmed with dinner tonight. I know it was a busy Saturday night, but the normally excellent wait staff really was not as attentive as usual. It took quite a while for our server to check back on us after we got our food. And the tea refill came after I was already finished eating. Hopefully this is not a trend. The food tonight was also a bit underwhelming. I ordered steak and shrimp with side salad and baked potato. The salad was ok as usual, but they forgot to put any cucumber on which they always do. My wife got the normal large slice of cucumber. The food was served correct temperature and steak had a good sear on the outside and medium rare inside. The problem was seasoning, as everything tasted bland. The shrimp tasted as if they had no seasoning and the steak was barely seasoned. I would have liked more butter for my potato but our server was nowhere to be found until I had eaten half of it. I will just say this isn't the norm, but I hope it's not a trend. read more

My in-laws met me in Brunswick for Sunday dinner. We waited quite a while (45+ minutes). When we got seated, we discovered the wait wasn't due to unavailable tables but understaffing. The waitress we had was good but definitely overworked and busy with other customers as well. She greeted us and got us our drinks right away but took a long time afterwards to come back and take our order. The bar was hopping. That, along with the 70s soft rock playing was so loud we couldn't hear each other talking from across the table very well. The food was pretty good but overpriced. $100 for three of us (including only one beer and tip). It got dark early and was too chilly to sit on the deck. This used to be a great local restaurant. It touts fresh local seafood. I recently had lunch here and found that the lunch specials are now focused on home cooking type meals. I wanted fresh fried Georgia shrimp. I got tough chewy old tasting fried shrimp with bad French fries. Beware, the fried shrimp "platter" is about 7 shrimp and comes with only one side. You can't really say you've visited the Georgia coast if you don't have seafood at least once. We stopped at Marshside after passing by enroute south on US-17. Food came fairly quick, and looked freshly prepared as you would expect. Overall, it was an okay dining experience on the coast. Liked the breading spices, scallops were to die for but could have done with being allowed to substitute oyster portion with more shrimp. Inside was rather loud and weather was good enough to sit outside on the patio. It was still enclosed in a large wind breaker tent but it was virtually waterside and offered a view but you could not really see a good view of the new Sidney Lanier Bridge to the south. read more

We were there on a Friday evening and it was packed with a lot of locals (judging from the license plates and the fact that the staff knew.several people by name), which told us it must be good. I had the grilled fish tacos with sweet potato fries, and my husband had the crab legs with fried okra and baked potato. It was FABULOUS!! Highly recommend this place!! They do not accept reservations, but it was so worth the wait! We sat at the bar because we didn't want to wait, and even there it was hard to find 2 seats! Bartenders were very attentive and friendly, even though they were EXTREMELY busy, and once we placed our order, the food was delivered very quickly. Best fish tacos I have ever had (they have a wasabi slaw - just enough wasabi flavoring, not overpowering - and their special sauce on them). The crab legs were seasoned with what tasted like Bay seasoning, so even without if you didn't want to dip them in butter they were delicious. We stopped here after a dentist appointment, as my boyfriend loved Spanky's. We sat down and ordered our drinks. Two minutes later, while still obviously trying to decide what to eat, the waitress came up asking if we were ready. This is probably my biggest restaurant pet peeve. When I'm ready to order, I look up or place my menu to the side. We both ordered the Full Moon Platter off the lunch menu. He got his fried with spuds and I got mine blackened with a baked potato. I requested the potato be mashed a bit so I wouldn't have to burn my hands on the hot foil when it came. My boyfriend's food looked food, but mine was less than appetizing. The seafood was hardly blacked, but was drenched in oil with the coated spices. No crisp at all. We both received 2 shrimp, 2 scallops, and 3 oysters. The shrimp were tiny, and the portion size as a whole was insulting. 11 dollars for this? I even had to pay an extra $1.50 for my plain baked potato, yet there was more potato spuds on my boyfriend's plate which came with the meal. The shrimp was entirely overcooked and almost hard. My fish, even with the abundance of spices, tasted disgustingly fishy. The only thing I enjoyed was my baked potato after smothering it in butter and sour cream. The waitress only checked on us once after bringing our food, and my boyfriend's water was practically empty his entire meal. She never came back to refill it, only to bring the check. The booths are uncomfortable, and the music went out completely during the meal. The prices may be ok, but the amount of food is laughable. Not worth the 30 dollars we spent. read more

This place is all you can expect of a roadside grill overlooking the marsh. It is casual comfort with southern kindness. Good food (typical bar/grill food choices mixed with southern comfort food. Chicken fried steak, meat loaf, gumbo, pot roast, dirty rice, greens, and black eyed peas. Just what mama would make. The place is average, but the view, staff, and food are top notch. read more

Very good shrimp. Service was good and there was not a wait on Sunday afternoon. There is a decent view of some marshland and a shrimp boat outside of the covered deck. We ordered a seafood platter and didn't remember to ask for the scallops to be blackened or grilled - or for the oysters to be some other way than fried. We were heading to Jekyll Island and we decided to stop to get some food. We noticed Marshside Grill and that the parking lot was full. We took a chance and went in. Big mistake, I should have checked Yelp first. The waitress was very nice and got our drinks and took our order pretty quickly. It was around 3:00 PM when we order. At 3:30, I asked if it was going to be much longer and the waitress said it should be out soon. The food got to our table after 4:00. Of course parts of it were cold. To make matters worse, the$ food was not good. It was bland and needed some seasoning. By the way, if you still feel you need to go there, do not drink the water, it taste like it was taken directly out of the Marsh. read more
