This was recommended by a local. It's a local hangout, very casual, bar type atmosphere. Large place so they can seat a lot. The outdoor patio is pretty cool, although eating on picnic tables isn't for everyone. The food was good, but inconsistent. The grouper was very tasty, as was the various types of shrimp. We had a big group of 12 and they did well. The only downside is we called ahead thinking it was a reservation, but it wasn't it was just a placeholder. We had to wait a bit on a busy evening, but they eventually accommodated us in about 15 minutes. We did have to speak with the manager since the person on the phone told us the next reservation was 7:30. We showed at 7:30 and they didn't have us on a list or ready. The food was average, nothing great. But, pretty good overall with big portions. Hush Puppys were greasy. Fried Okra were small and mushy. Had better at Crabdaddys. read more

On the 6th of March I was taking my wife to the Marshside Grill for our 37th Annavirsary. The parking lot was about half full as we got out of the car. As we approached the entrance a waiter came running out and ran to a car where a young couple was putting their infant into a car seat. He began yelling and demanding a reason why he had not received a larger tip. The young man explained that they had saved their money for a meal out and they were on a budget and that's what they could aford. The waiter turned around and started walking back into the Marshside making rude for remarks about the couple. I thought that waiters acting like were an urban myth. Well, I guess not. I looked at my wife and we turned around got back in the car and went to another place to have our meal. I have mentioned this incident to others I know and work with and they too have indicated that they would no longer support the Marshside Grill with their business. This did not seem like this was the first time this waiter had pulled this type of intimidating stunt. I am sure he bragged to his co-workers about his verbal assalt on this couple so he should not be hard to identify. I would like to think the management would not tolerate this type of action. The worst food I have EVER had. I have celiac and am lactose intolerant. I told the waitress this. She comes out with cheese all over my salad when I ask specifically for NO Cheese. I order grilled shrimp. It comes out with bread on top of it. Then they give me blackened shrimp when it comes out again. Worst food and service. Don't waste your time or money. read more

We were seated quickly and greeted quickly by our server Becca, on a night where the restaurant was very steady. Our drinks came out from the bar quickly, the Brunswick stew was delicious and very hot. I've been here twice. Lunch - Mahi grilled sandwich and shrimp tacos were fine. Dinner - not so good. We ordered three meals and for $80 it was NOT with it. Filet mignon is supposed to be served as one steak, not cubed cold meat cooked earlier in the day and warmed up. This may be great food for those that can not cook but if you have any cooking skills at all if recommend staying home and cook your own dinner for much less. Nice view. read more

Slow service a few weekends ago. We were there for a late lunch so crowds were gone. Not sure why it took so long, we were there a few hours. Had lunch menus we ordered off of, but Bill we got was over double what we had calculated. They said on weekends they only served off dinner menu day and night. Great restaurant right next to the marsh. When you think of a marsh you might think of a smelly nasty pit that you wouldn't want to dine next to. Not the case here, it's actually pretty nice. If it's a nice day out this restaurant has outside seating for a very nice atmosphere. Food is a good mix of sea food, burgers, and sandwiches and it has a full bar. So this is my second time here. The staff was nice. I ordered the fish tacos. It wasn't good. I had my fish grilled. It was super oily. I had to blot it with my napkins. It came with a flour tortilla, coleslaw, and a sweet chili sauce. Not what I had hoped for. When I lived back in the southwest they had tasty fish tacos. We were greeted and seated immediately by a very cordial young lady. Our server came immediately to take our order, which was a great start. Unfortunately, that's about where it ended. This is the second time we have been here this week. Cheese burger was cooked to perfection. Generous amount of seasoned beef. Bun was buttered and toasted. The bun was on the smaller side which was perfect as not to over power the beef. Kelly took care of us and kept the cold beer readily available. The view is awesome. We sat inside due to the wind. Plastic curtains are available if needed on the deck. Also several wall fans keep the gnats away. The daily lunch specials looked great. It says a lot to see all the locals eating lunch here. Perfect way to start our vacation, on the deck at Marshside watching the sunset over a shrimp boat, listening to classic rock tunes from a talented local band. Stopped in between airport and resort. Glad we checked it out (saw two police cars parked in lot and figured it would be good if local officers were enjoying lunch there!). Nice location on marsh for kids to check out. Server was awesome. Fried food feast - not healthy - but yummy. Had fried oysters and spuds. Definitely order the spuds!!! (vs. french fries - you can get those anywhere). Recommended for easy family lunch in a nice spot - easy on the wallet as well. read more

We've enjoyed the seafood and burgers here several times and usually receive good service. However, last night we had a very inexperienced young girl as our waitress who was not friendly, had no idea what an IPA was nor thought to go ask the bartender so we could order a beer, and among other things never asked how our meal was and brought the check without asking if we were done. We always tip well but last night we had to make a statement and only left 10%. I really wanted to leave 0% because aside from taking our order she did nothing else. As seems to be the norm now, someone else brought out our food. We want to keep coming back here so please train your staff! read more

Midweek lunch with storms approaching and the place was packed (not one empty seat at the bar.) My server was fantastic, she could do her job in her sleep! My seafood platter (fried fish, shrimp, scallops, and oysters) with FF and hush puppy was fresh and cooked perfectly, and only $9.95! Great views of the marsh. Scallop pasta (26.95?!) for dinner was so small which I wished I didn't order that!! I see other people orders on the table has way more food than mine! Great location! The service is terrible! Waited 24 mins after being seated and had to go get the hostess to take our order cuz no wait staff ever came! Went back 2 weeks later and couldn't get a table, they forgot we were there waiting. 45 mins and my husband went to the hostess station to remind them that we were still waiting! Ugh! Then the food was awful when it came! Frozen crinkle cut fries? Really?!? Bottom line is we will never go back! We are locals, not visitors, and we will not be back! I am a local and Marsh side is a favorite of mine and my friends. The food is always excellent and there are several choices on the menu to suit any customer. I am always partial to their Wild Ga Shrimp, however they now how to fry great oysters as well. The service is always great, however keep in mind they do have a lot of customers often, some in large groups. read more
