I have been to Martina quite a few times and can tell you this is currently the most unique and exciting dining experience you will find in the Twin Cities. Danny Del Prado honed his skills working with Issac Becker of (112,Burch and Bar La Grasa). His use of umami flavored ingredients are showcased all over the menu. You will find dishes here that you will not find anywhere else in town. As far as the food goes some of my favorite dishes are the empanadas, grilled beef tongue, seared scallops, mussels, halibut, cacio pepe, charred brussel sprout salad, potato churros, grilled octopus, chilled seafood platter, cheeseburger (brunch only), lobster toast (brunch only), crab benedict (brunch only), crab carbonara (brunch only) I could seriously keep going but I think you get the picture. I haven't even begun to talk about the best and most exciting cocktail program in the city. I have yet to have anything that wasn't outstanding, unique and reasonably priced. Everything that happened during brunch was pretty great. The service, food, drinks, location, all great. I started with a bloody mary and it was one of the best bloody mary I've had in a very long time. For my meal, I ordered the smoked salmon and burrata. Came here with a large group for a late dinner. Had some drinks while waiting for table. We let the bartender make us whatever he suggested and the drinks did not disappoint. We tried several different appetizers and by far my favorite was the tongue. It just melted in my mouth! LOL! They were out of my first two selections so I let the server make a suggestion and he suggested the Wagyu Zabuton Tenderloin which was delicious and cooked just right. Every time I visit this restaurant it brings a new surprise! They always start by bringing you a complimentary cheese ball (kind of like a Brazilian cheese ball) which is full of yumminess! Then I had the grilled swordfish with kale salad and avocado purée. I wasn't sure if I would like raw kale but the lemon vinaigrette dressing made it out of this world. The swordfish was grilled to perfection with just enough seasonings. Then I finished off with affogato for desert which is expresso (I got decaf) poured over a scoop of gelato. If you're not interested in ordering desert that's ok bc the little chocolate bon bon they give at the end of your meal will satisfies anyones sweet tooth and is really flavorful! I also have to mention the beverage director, Marco, who is AMAZING and can make you any kind of drink you want. This is a fabulous restaurant in a great neighborhood. Very accessible with plenty of parking! But let's talk about the food. We loved the menu-- so many options from small plates to entrees and lots of veggie options, too. The food was so outstanding! The chicken is the best! And so is the Gnocchi. The carrots with crispy farro was to die for! I love the amuse-bouche at the beginning and at the end of the meal. Nice touch! Also, the cocktail list is amazing and I have loved everything I have tried. Now for the ambiance. I love the cozy, warm feel to the restaurant. I went back to Martina and had the same issue as before with the wine service . My glass was empty and ignored . We order different things this time , the parrillada was just ok , the sweetbreads were really greasy and the meat was tough (menu said hanger steak but we got ribs) It comes with a good serving of salad and some potatoes, so don't order side dishes with this one . I am still missing the textures in the food . The scallops were just ok nothing special about it . The calamari was not good , super breaded . They need better side dishes too . For dessert we order a pineapple desert , an unimaginative dish , tasted good but nothing special . And the avocado truffles just taste horrible . I am giving this place a break . read more

Quickly becoming one of my favorite places in Minneapolis. We've been here for both dinner and brunch and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves each time. The drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, are incredible. The burger at brunch is one of the best I've had in the cities. We also love the potato churros and empanadas, having them at both brunch and dinner. We've also had the 8oz flat iron and fusilli with lamb meatballs. Both dishes were great and well seasoned. We have been waiting for Martina to open to celebrate a friends birthday. I am so glad that we did! The wait staff was superb. Attention to detail was apparent in everything. This place was amazing! FIRST OFF, they have a dairy free menu. THIS IS HUGE for my fiancé who is allergic to dairy. THANK YOU MARTINA! When you parked and got out of your car you could literally smell the food from outside. The atmosphere was nice and cozy, and our waitress was so helpful! We split the beef tongue which I was hesitant, but the flavor was absolutely amazing. For the main dish I got lobster spaghetti which was great, and my fiancé got a steak and potatoes and he loved his meal as well. We will definitely be back! read more

We went on a Sat night and paid a lot for very little food. The $28 jumbo prawn dinner was one prawn. Yep. One. Service staff was obviously trying to rush us out, wisking away our drinks and the bread basket before we were finished. We have always loved the food at Martina. Perhaps Sunday night they had an off night. Our scallops were delivered cold, more bread did not come as asked, the food did not come in the order requested. We ordered Cacio e Pepe but what was delivered was ravioli. Its fine to have a riff on a classic dish but call it what it is on the menu so customers know what to expect. read more

I don't understand how this place has so many good reviews. It's pretentious, overpriced and just not that good. First off we walked in with a reservation and had to wait 15 minutes past to be seated. Wouldn't have been a big deal except it was total chaos, and impossible to stand near the bar due to its terrible layout (serving station, host stand, and bar all kind of smashed into one spot right near the front door. Traffic overload.) When we were seated it was of course at the table closest to all of that. It was loud, and hard to have a conversation. The first cocktail I had was maybe 1.5-2 oz of liquid served in tall glass over a 6 inch ice cube to make the glass look full. Not only was it not worth the $11 price, I couldn't finish it without sticking my fingers in the glass to hold the ice cube back so it wouldn't slide out and bash me in the face. Classy. We tried the potato churros that everyone raves about, and found them extremely greasy. Served with ketchup and mayo ("aioli" lol) my husband agreed we would have been just as well off with a bag of McDonalds french fries. We both got pasta dishes that were over-peppered and over-spiced, I assume to cover up some otherwise flavorless sauces - but who knows, spice was all you could taste. We did enjoy the dessert crepe and the bread, even though they forgot about the bread and brought it half way through our meal. My partner and I had an amazing dinner at Martina while stopping in Minneapolis on a road trip. Their COVID regulations were excellent and we felt very safe on the patio. Tables were well spaced, sanitizer was on every table, waiter interactions are limited and masks are required when interacting with waiters. This was my first time at a restaurant in 6 months and the food did not disappoint. We got the Brussels sprouts salad, oysters, corn pasta and cacio e pepe. Everything was delicious!! Overall it was a wonderful experience and we are so grateful to have had a safe and enjoyable dinner out! read more

We were so pumped to try this place and in order to get a Friday night reservation had to book about 4 weeks in advance! (Which is pretty unusual for Mpls) The decor and atmosphere are great and the service was very attentive. 5 stars for service, the creative cocktails we tried, the empanada appetizer and my lobster spaghetti! Unfortunately my husband's halibut which was recommended by our server was just not good. The sauce had no flavor so the fish itself was quite bland and mild. This was a $29 dish so we were pretty bummed. Overall would probably come back sometime to try something new but it's a little spendy for a regular date night spot. read more

Martina my new found love! We had high expectations considering all the great yelp reviews and wow did it deliver! The cocktails were amazing and the bartender was so nice and helpful in helping me pick out a pre dinner drink. After the full experience my husband and I decided that the highlight of our meal was the appetizer. We picked the marinated tomatoes with burrata, mostly because I always choose burrata when it's offered. Marinated tomatoes and burrata sound pretty boring but we were blown away with how delicious and how beautifully balanced the dish was. I could literally get two plates of these for myself, an app and as my main dish it was that good! We will be back! read more

If you are looking for the full experience, this is it. The staff were on point, and knew the menu options well (including the beverage selections). This was my first of many visits to Martina...so, brunch: Cold oyster platter was incredible- a wonderful collection of diversely served seafood. I highly recommend it. Espresso and coffee are great, which is a must for anyone who serves brunch. I had a few friends with me and was able to try an array of things...let me preface this by saying everything I tried was delicious: breakfast sandwich (simple, full of flavor), crab cake benedict (great bene, be hungry for this one, or split it with a side), speaking of sides- the side of bacon is a proper side of bacon, it's not a skimpy 3 stripes on a lonely plate. It's more than that, at least 5stripes, great quality meat, thick cut.. if you know bacon, you'll approve. Need I go on? Yes! What about those pancakes?! Made with almond flour (GF) and served with fresh berries, & other delights. Steak and eggs was great- steak was cooked perfectly. We even had someone have the cheeseburger. It was the first thing recommended by our server, and the last food item I'll write about. In two words- on point. Bloody, Grapefruit and Orange breakfast cocktails are all worth trying. The wine menu is solid- not too many options, but all good ones (a perfect balance). I suppose I only could have wished for a Sancerre by the glass. Ha It was an all-around five stars. I wanted to LOVE Martina, but alas, I had a few bones to pick with the experience. We made a 2:00pm reservation on Saturday for brunch not realizing that they close their kitchen at 2. We got there at 1:50 and were told about the kitchen closing so had to rush to decide. Another bummer was the fact that they make so few of the egg drink that they ran out by 10:06. We tried the lobster toast, crab carbonara, crab benedict, and potatoes churros. The food was good, but nothing I would crave. I think the drinks and waiter were the best part of the meal. We had reservations at 9 and they sat us close to 9:30 pm. We hung out at the bar however the bar is so small that we were standing. The food was great and different from most of the restaurants in Minneapolis. Great combination of flavors. The tongue bruschetta and the potato churros were awesome. They can do better with their wine selection. They have great cocktails but everyone knows that fine dining should be paired with fine wine, not cocktails, to enhance the flavors. Martina is truly a hidden gem in Minneapolis. I am so glad that we had a stop there for brunch. The interior decor was so simple and chic，they also have an open kitchen where u can watch how your foods being prepared from scratch. Their brunch cocktail is a must try！Not ur traditional brunch cocktail from other places，and everything was on point from presentation to taste. I got the "carrot"one and it was refreshing，acidic，with hints of bitterness. Foodwise，I ordered the crab carbonara and my boyfriend got the lobster toast. The crab carbonara was absolutely devine，so savory and creamy. I literally had to resist the temptation to lick all the sauces off of my plate. As a person who is so tired of avocado toast，ricotta toast in regular brunch places，I am so drawn to the idea of lobster toast. However，the bread was dry and overcooked. Martina's food, ambiance and bar tenders are medicine for the soul. Ok, I love to eat and presentation is important to me, but there's something more happening at Martinas. Not everyone gets it, but there is complexity and layers of beauty and truly great effort that lies underneath. We popped in to try one of their famous cocktails or n/a elixirs at the bar. We ended up taking our time, sipping and sniffing our fragrant and alchemical drinks, ordering a sumptuous, beautiful dish to share, sipping and ordering more and delving into conversation. At one point I was worried about staying too long and taking up to much space and that was just the point where they brought over another complimentary treat for us to try. They gave us our privacy but were there at our beck and call. Whether you are vegetarian, don't want alcohol, or love your meat and drinks, there is magic for you here that transcends. Well, that might sound as crazy to you as it does to me but I'm going to confess that I felt this because... the first time I ate dinner there... for weeks after... I had a taste memory of the n/a elixir I ordered (never happened before). This morning, I have an olfactory memory of the deep, rich, complexity in the first drink I had... huh. My Old Fashioned conjured up by wizardry in the basement using 9 different proprietary rums and a other magical potions is apparently still lingering (I only had one and sipped it for an hour). I found articles on the wizard behind the curtain. Can't say enough good things about Martina. Have been here for both dinner and brunch, and both were equally impressive and delicious. I am celiac and have to eat gluten free, and they're able to make most menu items GF. Highly recommend the grilled octopus and the gluten free pasta (we had cacio e pepe) for dinner, and the almond flour pancakes for brunch. This restaurant is a small beautiful space with amazing Argentinian fare. Every single part of the experience- from walking in to the lovely open modern farm atmosphere, to some of the most amazing cocktails I have ever had, to some of the best steak and seafood served the entire experience was flawless. I had the swordfish puttanesca with the charred cucumbers. The cucumbers were so so good spicy and full of flavor. My son had the flat iron steak and the flavor was so good.
