Wheat flower made in Japan for udon

This place runs so well. You can truly make this your own. The food was delicious. Comforting food for sure. You can order your udon plain and add what you like as side from picking up at the bar as you go along. The udon is made fresh in store. It was so good. Our favorite was the tempura. It was crunchy but not too crunchy so it didn't hurt the roof of my mouth. Sad this place isn't local to me, but definitely adding to a list of places I would return to. We were a party of 4, but the cashier took a tray for me without asking knowing my youngest would struggle to carry her tray. They have plenty of seating and although the line can get long, it moves pretty quickly. Would definitely recommend.

So happy they are open! Still fast service and delucious udon. They have many different options but I still love the beef udon with a few shrimp tempura on the side. Affordable and delicious in downtown. They also serve Sapporo beer and sake IF you are not on the clock and working downtown LOL. L9ve this place affordable, delicious and great place for lunch.

Marugame is the perfect downtown lunch. Super quick and affordable. There is kiosk ordering, which is super convenient and has all the customizations available. I got the large curry udon to-go. I love how they separated the broth/curry from the noodles/toppings to keep everything as fresh as possible. Our take out bag came with all the condiments and utensils needed. Everything was super flavorful, and I loved the chewy texture of the noodles. The large size came with a lot of noodles, so the noodle to topping ratio was not super ideal for me. This is definitely one of my go-to spots in downtown because it's quick, affordable, and delicious.

I love Marugame. I think the whole concept is awesome, simple, delicious, comforting food at prices that are hard to beat for the quality and portions you get. That said, the constant line at the Waikiki location always kept me from trying it, no matter how many people told me it was worth the wait. I don't mind standing in line for a bit, but that one always seemed a little too intense for me. On my last trip to Honolulu, I stayed in Chinatown for a few weeks and was surprised to find this location nearby. The best part? No line. Ever. You can practically walk in, order, pay, and sit down immediately. What a difference! The only con I'd say is that they don't open until later in the day, but it makes for a perfect lunch spot or early dinner. My go-to items are the Garlic Chicken Salad, the Nikutama, and the classic Cold Udon. Honestly, nothing beats cold udon on a warm Hawaii day. I also can't resist grabbing a few tempuras, and the shrimp tempura was definitely my favorite. If you're staying in Waikiki, I'd say a quick Uber or bus ride over here is absolutely worth it instead of spending your vacation standing in line.

Located at Fort St., Mall on the corner. We parked at the executive center after we went to 24hour fitness. You walk in and choose your broth and the toppings. You can also get tempura... shrimp, bread, potato, egg, and chicken- several to choose from- oh and gyoza Very tasty Today I got the creamy broth udon with pork and egg- topped with green onions and tempura flakes (you can get as much as you want-no extra charge) My husband got the curry Nikutama udon- that had beef - egg- he ate it all. He also had this seasoning kind of look like furykaki, but not it was a little (very little) spicy, but so good on top of the udon.

I always come to this spot in downtown rather than the one in Waikiki because there's never a line. 10/10 for food & customer service. I always order their nikutama udon bowl with extra tempura flakes along with their tamago & shrimp tempura. It never disappoints! Definitely recommend!

Quality udon at an affordable price - definitely one of the best values throughout Oahu! This Marugame Udon location has a range of udon dishes available, as well as tempura and musubi stations in a cafeteria-style setup; grab a tray, place your order and pick up your food, then pay at the register before finding a seat. I had the Nikutama udon, a simple, savory broth with meat, udon, onions, and a softboiled egg. The dish was fantastic; every ingredient on its own was delicious, from the broth to the udon. Combine them all together, and the bowl REALLY hit the spot. I came hungry and still couldn't finish a regular, in case that matters when choosing a size. Portions here are generous. Worth a visit for this caliber of cuisine, and when you factor in the low prices, it's a steal.

Tasted yummy! Line was long but it moves fast. We waited about 20-30 min for a the line that went to the end of the block. On par with location in California. Udon is cooked fresh and the tempura is also delicious. Love the sweet potato, shrimp, zucchini. Unbeatable for the price. Would recommend coming if you love udon and have not tried it before as the only locations are WA, CA, and HI! Tables turn over inside at the perfect rate so there's always a place to sit even when busy. Pretty casual spot. No table service.

Took my Mommy Dearest to Chinatown to get her hair and nails done. After that she wanted to have Udon noodles. And I remembered Muragame Udon is nearby and since I haven't ventured out to at this location before. I had the number 1 Nikutama and Mommy Dearest had the number 3 Beef with dashi broth and of course some tempura goodness on the side. The portion size is filling and the flavor was spot on. Perfectly balanced broth and not overpowering. The noodles have a great bounce to it. The restaurant is busy but luckily for us we went after the lunch rush so we didn't have to wait much. Mommy Dearest commented how she remembered the lines is always a mile long and out the door at the Waikiki location. This was when she worked in Waikiki. The Downtown location is clean and organized and the staff are wonderful.

    Katie L.

Incredible operation. We were at the back of the line a block from the entrance, and it took 45 minutes to wait in line, order, eat, and leave. You pick your base udon and there is a tempura buffet you can select what else (and prices vary from like $2 to $6 depending on what you select). They tell you where to sit and the udon broth is delicious! It tasted delicious and we had leftovers. The original size is pretty substantial. Definitely check them out - they are busy for a good reason!

Best restaurant on the street! My friends and I spent a week in Hawaii, and Marugame Udon was the hit for many reasons! - It's cheap/affordable, like truly affordable! I was shocked at the prices; every other place in Hawaii is double the price! - The food is so good and fresh. The tempura is perfectly breaded and not oily. the noodles are made fresh and the flavor is just sooo good. Perfect comfort food. - Even though the line was long, it was so worth it and went by quickly. I highly suggest you dine in if you can, especially if you're getting the tempura. - The ambiance is definitely more of a grab and go spot with people moving in and out quickly. Definitely worth your time!

Very delicious Line is usually long but they move quite fast Food is flavorful and hot The fried goodies are crunchy and savory Soup is yummy, udon noodles are bouncy You walk in, grab a tray and put what you want on it Food is made right in front of you Definitely a visit when youre in the area

    Yes.

Hello. Where is the best parking area to visit?

The underground municipal parking garage at Chinatown Gateway Plaza (1052 Bethel St). It’s 75¢ per half hour on weekdays, slightly cheaper on weekends.…

Where is the best place to park for Marugame Udon on Fort St Mall?

Anywhere in the side streets in downtown. Make sure to pay the meter!!!

What happened to the Paitan soup?

What time is the best for minimal lines?

At the Fort Street Mall location I've gone a little before 12 and have had minimal wait. For lunch I would say the best time is early, at 11 or after the lunch rush 1:00

The standouts were the crispy pork belly with its watercress tomato onion salad, the ume tomato on whipped tofu, and spicy miso eggplant. The mushroom jook is so comforting, hearty and full of flavor served with chicken confit and a soy egg. The two desserts offered are both winners. The mochi churro with kinako and anglaise is crispy, light and creamy. The pineapple orange pudding is so cool and refreshing. And, 100% of dessert sales go to the culinary team! What?! The menu has changed to a more tapa style. We went with our two young children & they were very accommodating. We ordered a bunch of stuff but most notable was the Ensalada Salad, Croquette Cordero, Taco Raisu, Karaage Pollo, and for dessert, the Piña Borracha. We ordered some pork and steak skewers. These were ok, I would skip these next time. A little burnt. My favorite was the Ensalada Salad. The crab was sweet and the salsa opaca was so refreshing with the apple foam. Was told to smash the crisp on top and combine it with everything and that took it to another level! So good that we ordered another one. The price of this was so affordable too! The Croquette Cordero was like a mini curry ball with chimuchirri sauce. A little heavy but if you love curry, this is for you! The Taco Raisu surprised us. The taco meat was so flavorful!! Even though we were stuffed, we kept going back for more. It's like a deconstructed taco & you use the lettuce as a wrap. The Karaage Pollo came with a Cucumber Escabeche. It was so tangy and refreshing, which perfectly cuts through the rich, savory oiliness of the fried chicken. We got the Piña Borracha for dessert and that had a coconut cake, coconut lime mousse, banana lilikoi curd, and pasted pineapple on top. Amazing!! Great way to end the night. We opted for the wine pairing, caviar toast and truffles. The meal was fantastic from start to finish. The most notable dishes for me were the ahi and caviar toast, cold corn soup, the lobster and the dessert. Sadly the portion of the toast here was about 1/2 the size of what we had at the cafe and unfortunately they didn't have uni for the night (maybe don't go on a Tuesday). The service was great. The environment was calm since we went during happy hour (3pm). There are birds flying around so I would be aware of that, but other than that, awesome place. I will say the menu is a little expensive ($24 per ramen), but they are delicious

My bad review is entirely based on how terrible the food was. For context, we ordered Tonkatsu…read moreramen and Tsukemen dipping ramen. Ramen, according to the server, was the most popular thing on the menu, so how likely could it get messed up? Tonkatsu: Rich, but lacked any salt or had very little. We requested some salt and that instantly made the ramen better. The noodles had enough salt to carry it, but the broth was not great. It tasted like the broth was watered down or reconstituted, however no seasoning was added to re-adjust the broth. Broth: Had little salt and lacked punch, umami, and was brown instead of white. Noodles: Had enough salt to taste good, but was slightly overcooked Pork: Extremely bland. Tasted like zero salt was added during cooking. Toppings: Greatly lacking in toppings Tsukemen: The Tsukemen had a lot of the same issues. Now being a dipping ramen, the broth should be even richer and more flavorful than any normal ramen. Tsukemen -- no matter where you have it in Japan, should be richer and saltier than most broths, but the broth here was severely lacking. For $26 a bowl this was worse than your DIY frozen ramen packs. Now I'm not asking for Japan-level of ramen mastery here, this is after all, just a tourist spot -- but if your Tonkatsu is the best selling item, you have to step it up. Our server did mention that some people complained about the amount of salt in ramen, so they adjusted it. But dare I say, instead of diluting the normal salt/seasoning amount for everyone, couldn't you just add a separate, flavor-light version for people inexperienced with ramen, instead of diluting the original for everyone else? If you're reading this Mr. Morimoto, I would highly encourage you to fly here and order the ramen. I think you and I would share the same opinions. P.S. I've also been to your other Morimoto spots and it was not this bad.
