First time ever coming to this location and when I say impressed..... I even came back for dinner ( originally came for lunch). The inside is cool. You can see them making the noodles and there's a mini tempura buffet for dine in guest ( it's a charge per piece so beware ). The service was nice and easy. For take out they have a kiosk for you to order and stay out of the traffic for dine in guest. They have a utensil bar in the back so make sure you grab what you need. They even had a tempura sauce dispenser available for use ( and yes it's warm! ) the employees were very kind. I was able to taste : - sweet potato tempura ( delicious) -BK style Nikutama ( yummy) -Curry Nikutama ( delicious) * be mindful that they inform you, if you get a dish that's under the sauce menu, it's not going to cover the noodle ( still enough sauce for the dish tho) I also go the fire spice ball... that was okay. Yay for a closer location in Irvine! This location imo is already better than the South Coast. Theres was no line on a Monday night, and the broth was steaming! I love my noodles hot and by the time I got my toppings, sat down, they were still hot. They'll seat you so you don't have to find a seat yourself. It's great that they've opened a new Marugame in the area, and it's even more spacious than the one at South Coast. This new location offers more seating, though some tables can still be packed pretty tight (like sardines lol). If parking is an issue, which it often is in DJ, you can park in the overflow lot - there's usually plenty of space there. The staff is super friendly and even offers to take your tray to your table. The udon is fresh, and I personally always go for the curry nikutama. I noticed another reviewer was upset about an egg being added to their bowl (even though it's pictured), so if you're not a fan of runny/close to raw eggs, keep that in mind. i've been to so many marugame udon locations i'm practically a regular LOL the irvine location in my opinion has the best seating options, i had a party of 6 when i went and we were all able to sit comfortably and the staff was kind enough to let us merge tables to accommodate which was great!! in general, marugame has great food with plenty of options, with some of the broth-based/sauce-based udon bowls being able to be done hot or cold which is awesome if you're someone who liked cold noodles on a hot day :) as always, the staff at marugame was great, and the restaurant itself is really nice, especially if you wanna hang out with family or friends for a bit! would recommend! read more

Especially when there's only two dishes and doing a dine-in order instead would've taken 2 minutes and packing it myself with the to go containers at the utensil station would've been faster is unacceptable. It is 12pm on a Tuesday with the kitchen fully staffed. Not only did they take forever for just a Kake and Tonkatsu udon, they also forgot a single tempura order that should've been included. My friends ordered number 8 (regular curry udon w/o egg) and number 17 cheese katsu tomatama curry that was a rice dish. The also provide water cups at a self serve area so that was very considerate of them as well. Side of vegetables was so cold and not delicious. Hot sauce ball thing I also got was waaaaaaay more sweet than spicy. It was like sugar. Ewe. I got the katsu curry rice bowl, which was a gigantic portion with dark meat and tons of Japanese curry gravy. I wish these bowls came with some veggies (you can add for like $3) because otherwise it's just straight meat, fat, and rice. Which don't get me wrong, is very tasty. All the beef fit the tiny soup spoon. It was not worth $12. Majority of the bowl was just udon. I could of ordered a plain udon instead. If there wasn't gonna be any meat. I feel scammed.
