I went here on a Saturday afternoon and was craving for some sweets. I decided to give this place a try. Most of their cakes are mini size and every cake is at least 12$ and up. I ordered the mango passion fruit tart and it tasted average relative to its price of 12$ The tart is more sour than sweet which is not my preference. However service was great. The cashier went out to serve the cake to me in a plate. The place however is quite small. They only have two tables of seating inside and a couple of tables on the outside. Overall I would give this place a try if you want to splurge your money on some sweets. read more

Aesthetically beautiful-the small cafe and desserts BUT needs improvement. The pastries were served COLD. We weren't asked if we would like them warmed up so we assume it would be (especially it took a while to get them). Even when ordering pastries at Starbucks, they ask if you would like them warmed up. Very disappointed. The desserts were pretty .... just wished that they tasted as good as they looked. Came for the spiral Croissants on a Sunday, looks like they have them available thurs-Sat only! No problem, tried the pear galette, flaky pastry, pear was cooked nice and perfectly not too sweet, custard under pear was eggy, will be back to try the spiral croissant :) read more

Very cute and modern atmosphere for this small bakery. There are a few outdoor seating as well. There are both savory and sweet selection. I really enjoyed the spinach feta croissant. The crepe cake is actually from Anton SV Pastisserie. (These crepe cakes are thicker than Lady M's.) My favorite was the Royal Hazelnut. The lavendar latte was excellent. Everything is rather expensive though. I felt that the only item that truly was worth its price was the lavendar latter. The prices are a little out there with Flo or behind just ok. Bit to mention it takes a while to get your order taken. Defiantly a little overhyped. Athethic however is nice. They were quick to give great recommendations in regards to their more popular flavors of fruit tarts and crepe cakes. They smiled the whole time and that honestly made my day! Keep up the great work yall :) I opted for the Passion fruit tart, the Anton Hokkaido Milk Crepe cake, and Passion fruit mango spiral croissant. All the desserts were a little too sweet for my liking but perfect if you have a sweet tooth! The crepe cake was made perfectly as the layers melted with every bite. The fruit tart was slightly tart and had a perfect balance of fruit flavors and cake. As for the croissant, I loved the flavor and the croissant texture but thought the filling was a little too thick. I would have been perfect with less as bread to filling ratio was not quite balanced. If there was a must try item for me, it would definitely have to be the crepe cake as flavors were bold and The interior was so aesthetically pleasing and gave an almost "high-tea" vibe. Tables were constantly being cleaned and there was lots of seating both inside and out. This place makes a perfect hangout spot, quick stop for desserts, or to grab a gift! We had been out for dinner and were walking back to our hotel when we came across Marvel Cake. It was evening time and the place was immaculately clean, well lit and inviting. We wandered inside to see if anything suited our fancy, especially since we'd not ordered dessert at the restaurant. What a beautiful array of pastries are here and it was hard to choose from the large selection. the interior was elegant and classy, just as if you'd stopped by a little Parisian patisserie. While we were enjoying our pastries (Pistachio for husband, lemon creme for me) we watched many other customers come in and take a look. Some were just out on an evening stroll, and many made purchases, some took them to sit outside at a table as it was a warm evening. I would love to go back here and try the other pastries next time I'm in Palo Alto. Very lovely place. read more

Really love this place. So feminine and lovely. Coffee and chocolate croissant are perfect for a weekday mom walk downtown. Don't love that they aren't open at 9am daily or on Mondays though...I keep forgetting until I get there and have to go somewhere else. :-( read more

Came here to try the pistachio spiral croissant but they didn't have any, so I tried the chocolate croissant, almond croissant, and pistachio crepe cake. The chocolate croissant as good, but the almond croissant was just ok. I think the almond croissant at B. Patisserie in SF is so much better. I did not enjoy the pistachio cake at all. I'm very very picky when it comes to pastries. I'm so happy Marvel has a Palo Alto store now. This morning, I first ordered the berry galette and it was so fresh and not too sweet. Very light. It was the best galette I've ever had in the Bay Area. It was so good that I had to go back and get a box of other pastries to take to a friends house later today. Then I went back again 5 minutes later to get a napoleon too. The napoleon was also very fresh, delicious and not too sweet. This is my favorite cafe in Palo Alto now. read more

Thank you for letting us extend our stay. The atmosphere is nice, and the restrooms are clean. However, I wasn't impressed with their drinks and cake. Example: I ordered Turkish coffee, but it didn't have any hint of spices. When I asked the staff about the coffee and its spices, they mentioned about raspberry (?), which was confusing. Again, I didn't taste any spices in it. I told them about it, wondering if it's supposed to taste like regular coffee. While the dishes look appealing, the taste doesn't quite live up to expectations. read more

I left a very positive preview for Marvel Cakes in July, but now I am saddened that when it is still Summer/Fall and quite warm outside, they can no longer provide ice for their coffee or espresso beverages. I know I am not the best customer as far as purchasing a bakery selection, but I love their comfortable environment and would be delighted to be able to return to partake in a cold coffee drink. My mother recently bought me a couple cressants home from here. We had walked passed it once before after dining at NOLA down the street (see my review.) They were round, buttery, & flaky & one had eggnog cream filling & the other had peppermint cream filling. The fillings were very smooth & creamy & perfectly done & not excessively sweet. They were bigger than your average cressant, perfect for sharing or keeping it to yourself. The gold & white bag they came in was so eligent in & of itself. I can hardly wait to go in sometime & try other things. So, for wonderful cressants for a little more than what you would pay elsewhere, Marvel cannot be beat. Keep up the good work guys. read more
