This coffee shop was disappointing today. Excited to try a new coffee shop. The service was just not right. The woman taking my order was not friendly and quite rude. Even my teen kids noticed her bad vibes. Ordered some coffee and food items. Came in around 9AM on a Sunday (Labor Day weekend). Easy parking. Nice upscale looking interior . Not too crowded. I ordered an unsweetened Iced Tea (Dark Iris) and a chocolate croissant, my husband ordered a regular coffee, sweetened with half-n-half, and an apricot danish. Food and drinks were delicious. But pricey. Over $5 for a medium-sized iced tea! At least it tasted good. People (staff and customers) were nice. But - to no fault of the shop - was very un-diverse. As a person-of-color, I couldn't help but notice. One issue we encountered was that they do not accept cash. Our original purchase was with a credit card. But when my husband went for a refill (which was not free unfortunately), he wanted to pay the $2 refill charge with cash, but couldn't. A little inconvenient. Also, I initially wanted an iced coffee with a non-sugar sweetener, but they only have a dark sugar syrup. Would like more alternatives if possible. Came here Monday morning. The mocha was a little on the lighter side for me. Staff was friendly and decor cool. There was a strong baking/burning smell that I wasn't too fond of. Stopped by when Mast Coffee was popping on a Sunday morning. The musical taste is good, but the volume was a bit loud. The vibes here are definitely more "LA" street casual rather than a chill cafe. For the drinks, we tried a regular latte and a seasonal special (the S'andiot). It's an succinct, unique saltiness from the smoked sea salt. However, I would recommend getting this only if you really want salt to be the star flavor. The roasted marshmellow melting into the coffee helps a bit, but I still felt the salt overpowered all the other aspects of the drink. Fortunately, we got a regular latte to taste their coffee more clearly. I enjoyed the dark roast they used that day, as the espresso hits your palate quickly and boldly. While the roast was strong, I couldn't really pick up any complexity from the espresso though. The baristas here are amazing at what they do. The drinks are crafted beautifully with care, and the service is friendly and efficient. I also enjoyed the local cups that they used; the cups and presentation made Mast Coffee an exciting experience for me. read more

I've stopped by here many times and I love this place! It's kind of hidden away, but it's the place to be at. It's spacious inside with some seating outdoors as well & parking isn't too hard to find around either. They have baked goods here from Faria Bakery and those are always amazing! I've gotten the mocha and the sandlot at different times. The mocha was good and rich in flavor without being overly sweet. I also love the mugs and cups they use if you're getting drinks for here. Now the sandlot is game changer!! I definitely recommend getting the drink if you're looking to change it up and want to experience a new taste. I had a sweet latte and my mom had a traditional macchiato which wasn't on the menu but they were happy to make. They have Faria pastries and then in house options utilizing Faria bread. I had the avocado toast. It was tasty. The only feedback I'd give is maybe a few sea salt flakes on the toast to make it pop. Also, super impressed with their private, on demand workspace options. They have a 6 person table room ($50/hr) and 3 mini pods ($18/hr) where you can stand up or use a bar stool. I meannnnn. Lastly, even the bathroom was nice!!! They make it a little on the wet side, foam was not too dry or airy, and with pretty design on top in a beautiful cup that reminds me of simple, Japanese tableware or pottery if you like all that for the experience. Coffee was smooth and tasty, no complaints. Price point is a little high though for the size, but many places are these days. The aesthetics of this place reminds me a bit of Insight on S Street when it was around, if you like that kind of vibe. They have hard furniture like old school house revival feeling, not all that comfortable. Didn't see cushy couches or vibrant chatter, if you're looking more for that sort of feel in a coffee house. Saw more people having coffee solo so maybe this isn't the sort of place for gathering, unless you are sitting outside like I did with company. This place is awesome! Went in on a whim and was impressed immediately! Bottomless portafilter espresso, their puck prep is with WDT, great shot pulled, and just a great product! Asked if they had an espresso tonic (which they did not), but the people working hooked me up with an amazing creation. Espresso poured over sparkling water with a special simple syrup. I've been here twice, today and about a year ago. I won't go back. We ordered an iced coffee and a mocha. The staff is extremely rude. Asked if we wanted room for cream, we responded yes. They filled it to the brim, and when we asked to make room staff had incredulous look as if we had asked them to move a piano. Went to the cram sugar bar, there was only packets of stevia in the raw. So went to the counter, while two of the staff chit chatted and completely ignored us when we clearly needed help. They were smirking as if it am was some kind of game. I happened to be driving by on Broadway, and I noticed Starbucks nearby had closed and I was in need of a tea. I figured I'd try this place out since I like to support local business. I met with Sebastian, who was super helpful in informing me of the tea options. I made my selection of the Silencio Black Tea and a cinnamon roll. Sebastian was quick to provide my order and even put ice cubes in the tea to make it a drinkable temperature. Overall, great atmosphere, great items, and great service. Would recommend 10/10. They have delicious cortados... I mean, so good. The menu says it is $5. Fine. Then a few weeks ago, I ordered one and it was $5.25. Fine, whatever. Then literally the next day it was $5.75, and when I asked why they said it was because I wanted sugar in it. Are you effing kidding me? Fifty cents for SUGAR? Seriously? Even though I vowed to never return, I did, yesterday. My dog was at the vet, I was feeling sad, and Mast is right across the street. So I thought, fine, I'll get an overpriced but delicious mocha, I deserve a pick me up. I ordered a smal mocha. The menu said $5.75. When he rang up the mocha at $6.75, I said, "why? the menu right here says $5.75." He said "We don't set the prices." I asked, "if you don't, who does?" and he said "the owner sets the prices and if you don't like it you don't have to come back." Fantastic attitude. TRUST me, I will NEVER go back. 50 cents for sugar? I will never be hipster cool enough to think that is OK.
