Stopped by here while we were in the city and decided to try the ube sabo drink since it sounded different from what I normally get. I actually really liked it! The ube flavor came through really well and it was creamy without being overly sweet. Definitely more of a dessert type drink but still really refreshing. It was a little more expensive than I expected, especially after tip, but I didn't mind since it was something different to try. Ordering is all done on a tablet and there was only one when we went, so it did take a little longer with people ahead of us. The shop itself is pretty tiny so I wouldn't really plan on sitting and hanging out here. It's more of a place to grab your drink and keep walking around the city. Cute place. Kind of hard to find. You got past the FAO store into the Rockefeller Center and down the stairs and then down one of the hallways almost to the end between Starbucks and Juice Press. They even have a pick up live screen so you know exactly how long your order will take and when it's ready. I ordered a Sakura Matcha and with 50% less ice and coconut milk. It was so delightful and the perfect amount of sweetness. I slurped it up in less than 10 minutes. I really liked it. It was light and the perfect blend of flavors between Sakura and Matcha once you give it a good mix. So if we are talking about matcha in general, I would give this a four star. The matcha was premade so it is not freshly mixed and made for each person, if you like the fresh taste and experience. The service is upfront their and fast and also they have kiosks to just order and go. The ambience is very natural seems like it is earthy and gives a calm setting to just relax especially with the lavender products they sell in store. I like the variety of drinks they have and the flavors compared to other matcha drink places in New York this place as my taste buds on point for matcha and sweetness and I also like the ube mini boba pearls in the bottom of the ube matcha drink also have different bases for milks such as oat, almond and whole milk. I would come again for a quick to go run. But it kind of worries me that the matcha is not freshly made per customer so your not getting the full benefits from the matcha drink. This was so good! Today was the first time I tried their strawberry matcha. I added lavender syrup and it was already so sweet(I asked for 25% sweetness). The matcha literally tasted so fruity, almost like fruity pebbles. I also got the white chocolate matcha cookie(yum!) I have been here a couple of times since they opened, though I have frequented their other location more. If you want a cheap and refreshing shaved ice for the summer and prefer something not sweet, I would heavily recommend the $6.50 Uji Kintoki, a mix of shaved ice with matcha syrup topped with homemade adzuki beans, shiratama, and a bit of condensed milk. Otherwise, in terms of quality, I prefer the matcha from a few other places, as other places don't add any sweetness, but the quality here isn't that bad and beats the garbage Cha Cha Matcha among other chains. What is good is that it is barely sweetened, which is better than being overly so. Outside of this, their ube, seasonal peach, and jasmine are decent. They also have a BoGo 50% special, where you can get two pints for $19, which isn't a bad deal at all. I haven't tried their other desserts, their onigiri, or their sweeter specials, but it's always tasty. Maintaining the same rating as their other location. read more

Awesome new matcha spot located in the shops under the Rockefeller Plaza! It can be a little tricky to find underneath but it is located in a hallway past the Starbucks. Inside is fairly small but you can order via the self service kiosks on the right or with the friendly staff. There is an extra $.50 service charge I noticed when using the machine so it may be better to order with the staff. We tried the Peach oolong tea with matcha foam, the matcha latte, unagi onigiri and the matcha/white rabbit mix soft serve. The peach oolong tea wasn't too sweet and the matcha foam went really well with it. The matcha latte was also very good and the amount of matcha to milk ratio was perfect. The soft serve was on point and they added some decorative Christmas toppings for free! The unagi onigiri was surprisingly good and there was a decent amount of eel in it compared to other onigiri spots in the city. The staff here were really kind to answer any questions and there is a couple small standing bar spots to enjoy the sweets. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area! read more

I came here on several occasions and found that the matcha ice cream in a cup with a cone broken up hit the spot. My one recommendation is if you're not keen on a strong matcha flavor, do not opt to add the powder topping. I did this when I got the matcha and ube ice cream combo and couldn't taste the ube. The powder overpowered the taste and the matcha ice cream on its own had a rich, decadent, earthy taste--a perfect taste of a strong cup of matcha, not watered down at all. Maiko Matcha Café is one of my favorite go-to spots for matcha desserts and drinks, so I was thrilled to hear they were opening their third New York City location--this one at Rockefeller Center. Naturally, I had to check it out. This new outpost is a bit hidden, tucked away on the rink level in the passage that connects Rockefeller Center to the subway system. The easiest way to find it is by entering near the rink level and taking the passageway on the left--you'll spot them near Starbucks. Though small, the space is lovely and welcoming. There are a couple of self-service kiosks to the right of the entrance, or you can place your order directly at the counter. I personally preferred the kiosks--it's nice to see pictures of the menu items and take your time customizing each drink. I tried 3 items that I've never had before at their other locations: Lavender Latte with Matha Crème ($7.50): available hot or cold and I got mine cold with 50% sweetness and 50% ice. This was so refreshing and gorgeous to look at. It's always nice when something tastes as good as it looks. The drink had a slight floral taste and the matcha crème added a soft velvety texture with every slurp. Would definitely get this again. Sukiyaki Beef Onigiri ($7): I believe this is made to order as it took a bit of time for them to deliver this item. The rice was nice a soft and the wagyu beef filling was delicious. I just wished it had more filling. My first few bites were mostly rice and seaweed but the bites with the beef was great. Hojicha Milk Chocolate Cookie ($3.50): the cookie was soft and chewy with a hint of sweetness both from the cookie and the pieces of milk chocolate. It also had a slight nutty flavor. I really enjoyed this and scarfed it down pretty quickly. This visit only deepened my love for Maiko Matcha. The Vietnamese coffee soft serve also tasted a bit funky, not at all like the taste of a Viet coffee. We also ordered two onigiri - at $7 per piece or 2 for $12, this is such a rip off. The Sukiyaki beef hardly had anything in it and was mostly rice. The Garlic Miso was also underwhelming and small for $7 - in Japan you can get an onigiri for $1 that has more quality and value!
