We were seated quickly and server was very friendly and attentive. The food came out quickly and everything was excellent. The clam chowder has sherry in it that I enjoyed but my husband doesn't like the flavor. So if you are sensitive to sherry pass on the chowder, but I thought it was delicious. The Lobster roll was stuffed and cooked perfectly! Worth every penny. We ordered the PB ripple milkshake for dessert and it was very watery. Decided to try this place, and a good option for lunch/dinner. Food: (4/5) For appetizers our party of 3 adults and 1 toddler ordered crab dip and clam chowder. For the main meal we ordered warmed lobster roll, crab cake meal, shrimp and grits, and kid's mac and cheese. I was not impressed with the crab dip or clam chowder. I like a simple New England clam chowder, and just too many flavors. I got the warm lobster roll for my dish, and it was delicious. The roll is toasted and soaked in butter (if you love butter you will enjoy this) with delicious lobster. I was told the crab cake meal was great as well. The other diner did not like the shrimp and grits. It was oily and the chorizo overpowered the dish. The kid's mac and cheese was tasty and came with a side of vegetable and fries. We went to the Lewes location on our way to Ocean City MD. Interior is bright, clean, and airy, nautical theme but not overbearing. Food: *Fried green tomatoes- perfect starter. Wish it came with pimento cheese like the restos in the Charleston area but this ain't Charleston so I don't mind! It came with fresh greens and a light sauce that was a great accompaniment to the fried tomatoes. Oysters- we got a dozen of local oysters-- fresh and nicely shucked, served chilled with lemon, mignonette, and cocktail sauce. Shrimp and grits- oh yeah! Chorizo based sauce over Cheesy and buttery grits, topped with grilled shrimp. I thought the sauce was chili at first () LOL Kids- fish and chips- your typical dish but the filets were flaky and thick, came with fries as well, the serving was good enough for two little kids to share. Crab chowder - creamy and tasty Crab cake special- lump crab cake ( perfectly seasoned with minimum fillers) on top of a bed of veggies- potatoes, edamame, corn, bell peppers and other greens. Refreshing and tasty! Dessert- Sodel Lime Pie : key lime pie, nilla-coconut crust, passionfruit purée --- winner. There's a few tables on the patio, I lucked out and grabbed one. Seating inside seemed full and given the pandemic, I've been avoiding eating inside restaurants. Server was nice, not too knowledgeable about the menu, but found out answers to my questions. The mussels were nice & spicy. Just how I like it. The salad was fresh. The crab cake was very tasty, no fillers and it was really nice you can add one as a side to the salad. A very flexible menu, lots of other options & I'd love to find myself back here soon. Came here for lunch after the morning at the beach! I was starving and have been eyeing this place for awhile so I was super excited to try this place. First of all the inside looked adorable! Very cozy inside. Since it is Covid they were great at social distancing the tables. I sat in the back. My waitress was very friendly and made me feel at home. I order the calamari which was huge! Very good breading and very tasty. I gobbled it up immediately. Then I ordered the lobster roll with upgraded crabby fries. Super worth it. The lobster tasted fresh and so delicious! They give you a lot of meat for what you pay. The crabby fries were pretty good too (kinda salty with the old Bay and the crab dip). Just ate lunch here and it was okay. Pleasant waitstaff, clean, cute decor, but the food was lacking. I'll confess, we're west coast foodies still adjusting to east coast cuisine. Never had clams served without bread and cooking broth but with drawn butter instead. Also never had Parmesan fries with butter poured over and pooled in the bottom of the bowl. We decided to venture out to Matt's Fish Camp Lewes on the day that we arrived to the area. We were famished from a long drive from NoVA, and was excited to find a place so close to our hotel. When we arrived, despite being off-hours there were still people occupying the front patio outdoor seating area. I knew this was a good sign, lol! Their fish & chips were delicious--the fish itself was extremely fresh, and the batter was not overly drenched in grease nor heavy. The "chips" or fries that came with the fish was also great in sense not overly greasy as some places tend to be too oily and soggy for my liking. The coleslaw was slightly disappointing compared to the actual entree, but that wouldn't stop me from ordering this meal again. The Parker House Rolls will be something that I'll skip next time as the bread lacked its softness nor chewiness--there was nothing spectacular about it. Side Note: 1. The covered patio area is available for outdoor dining, and there are fans all around to keep it from being too hot. 2. You MUST try the homemade soda--we had the ginger, and it was tooooo good--and no, it doesn't taste too gingery. 3. Ample amount parking available as the restaurant shares the lot with a nearby shopping plaza. 4. Good food that's away from the hustle and bustle. This place has mastered the art of deep frying. Everything comes out crispy and delicious. It also comes out in great quantities. You should order with an eye toward sharing. One appetizer is a meal, and a main course can easily feed two people. I wish we had known that before we ordered appetizers and main courses for everyone. That said, the fried calamari was delicious, the fried onion rings were huge and exceptional, and the fried fish and chips were as good as I'd had. Went for lunch today with a few friends, first time at Matt's since Covid. We generally really like Sodel restaurants but Matt's fell short for 2 of the 3 of us today. A few notes ~ service was great, and decor is lovely. Menu is great as well, perhaps we made bad choices.... We ordered the southern fried catfish which was so incased in a hard shell breading I couldn't taste the fish. It was 3 parts breading to one part fish. It just wasn't good. Second order was the fried green tomato blt. It looked delicious, however the green tomatoes were also incased in the same breading- once again making the tomato inedible. The bacon looked fab but this crust was not good, my friend wasn't even going to take it home. The third person ordered the short rib grilled cheese with caramelized online, and she loved it. It really wasn't a situation where one could say there was something wrong with the food, but the entire preparation was misguided. Stopped in on a Thursday afternoon on my way back from Atlantic City. The space was warm and inviting; a very nautical feel. Was seated promptly. Waiter was quick and courteous.
