Their menus is extensive I got a Poké bowl with the original sauce and it was phenomenal. Really really good flavors. I came here for lunch with three others on Sunday afternoon and I'm a little confused as to why this place has such rave reviews. While it's true that the the portions for the fish tacos are surprisingly large, much of what you get is cole slaw and not actual fish. There are chunks of fish to be sure, but it really didn't feel or taste like I was eating fish; it was so meaty and chunky that it had the consistency of chicken. I was also underwhelmed and disappointed at the soup I ordered. For $10 you get a serviceable but not amazing fish chowder with a decent amount of protein. What really bothered me was the bowl, though. If you look at the photos, it really seems like they're trying to make it seem like you're getting more soup than you actually are. I have nothing but positive things to say about the onion rings, though, so kudos on that. Very tasty. Service was courteous and fine as others have noted, but nothing to write home about. I also wasn't feeling the "Hawaiian" look; it all came across as gimmicky. Decent place for fish tacos if it's what you're craving, but I think there are better options for seafood. read more

Coconut Shrimp for appetizer is nice with the mango sauce. Macadamia nut MahiMahi is a generous portion size with brown rice and coke slaw. The fish tacos are big enough that one would be enough.scrumptious and flavorful with lots of texture. The corn tortilla shells had a nice crunch where they didn't fall apart. We have driven by this place 100 times and finally decided to go there. And wow I am so happy we did! The fish tacos were absolutely phenomenal. My girlfriend got the next seafood chowder which was also great this time of year in December! We will be going back prices were super reasonable and it was quick the way you were at the register and the food is brought to you. They also clean up the table which was nice. This place was poppin' at 1pm on a Saturday! Seating was jampacked! Fish tacos: I found it odd that they plated the 2 tacos on two separate plates. Poor servers had to juggle more plates!! No sides but it's ok since you just get 2 tacos piled high with grilled fish, slaw and mango! Deliciousness increased two-fold with the slathering on of the tiger sauce they had available for use by the shoyu. Spicy Ahi Poke: Paired with incredible taro chips! This was a great app to start off the meal. Grilled Fish plate: Hubby's entree...he seemed to enjoy it! I thought it was very random to have a slice of tomato with shredded cheese on top haha. I got the blackened mahi mahi. Overall, I Liked it with the mango coconut sauce (it wasn't given though I had to go back and ask for. I wish there was more fish for the price, the fish was slightly over cooked but I know mahi mahi had a thicker texture than other fish. I wish the owners of this shop were Hawaiian bc it feels like cultural appropriation. read more

Loved this place when it was on Bell. Today was a nice sunny day so dining outside was a perfect idea! Major fail since all you hear is barking dogs at the doggy daycare next door. Nonstop. The entire meal. Not even the loud music can drown them out. We felt like we were screaming at each other. Whoever signed the lease on this location should be fired. We came in about a half before closing and the staff was sweeping up and stacking chairs around this which I found to be unsanitary while we were eating. We complained about this to the manager who could hardly care less. At first he offered us a $10.00 gift card for our inconvenience and then reneged on it. We were looking for pub style fish and chips, which this is not, but it was delicious and we will definitely go back. The fish is breaded in an Italian bread crumb, not battered. Perfectly cooked. The place was also spotless and the staff are super friendly. At first I thought the cleanliness was just from being new, but then I noticed all of the workers making an effort to clean up as they went through their work and keeping everything spotless. But when I really loved was the customer service. As a first time visitor, I deferred to the recommendation of the two young ladies at the register who led me to order the Mahi Mahi with South of the Border sauce. They were adamant that it was the best and it definitely didn't disappoint. After dropping the order, the server asked me to come let her know what I thought. And even though this isn't a full service restaurant, she came back and asked me how I liked my food! Even though I was sitting outside on the patio. Great, great service!! Love coming here for lunch occasionally with my coworkers. It's definitely a hot spot in North Scottsdale for such because sometimes it's hard to find an open table to sit down. Although I've not ever been to Hawaii, it definitely has the tropical vibes down. My first time coming, a coworker raved about the fish tacos.... so that's what I went with. The cashier let me know that the fish comes in daily from Hawaii so what you eat was swimming in the ocean the day or so before. And you can taste it, it's not gummy/funky-tasting fish! Two tacos + shared coconut shrimp are a tasty and light lunch. Definitely suggest checking in on yelp to get the discount on the coconut shrimp! Again, rarely do reviews outside of the So-cal area but was in town for the weekend and felt compelled to support this family owned restaurant. Their coconut shrimp, ahi poke, and seafood pasta were delicious. The family and I enjoyed the service and food so much that we ate there twice over the long weekend. I've also reviewed the original Coconuts in Maui and this location is equally as good! We are repeat customers and have tried it all. Favorites include the Coconut Shrimp appetizer, Ahi Poke appetizer (personally could eat this everywhere), Mahi-Mahi Local Style, and the fish tacos any which way! Who would have thought of great Hawaiian vibe in Scottsdale. Coconuts provides that and much more. The menu is a cornucopia of fish and seafood served in a very appealing way. The food is delicious and seated at tables in the shape of surfboards one can enjoy island food while perhaps imagining being in Hawaii. The place is run super efficiently and the staff is cheerful and helpful. Today I had the Poke Bowl and it was perfect. You wouldn't know it by the outside, but this is a treasure for Scottsdale. It's hid in the shopping center and I never knew it was there and I lived here 30 years. I had the shrimp and chips and it was wonderful and very tasty! I put the vinegar on the chips and ate the shrimp grilled, yummy. There are surfboards on the wall and all the tables have a fin, like a shark, Hawaiian music was playing, it was very pleasant to be in and like another reviewer put, it felt like you were at the beach. . I had the AHI tuna, the best damn seafood chowder I ever had, and the same for the Seafood Alfredo. We also had Taro Root chips. There was plenty to take home. The food was excellent! I highly recommend Coconuts Café. The service was excellent and for today's prices everywhere, the portion sizes were plentiful.
