This is probably the best coconut shrimp I have had. Been coming to the Coconut's Fish Cafe for years and mainly go to the location on Shea (when I am not visiting Maui). The staff at this location is just as great as the other locations. The food is always fresh and piping hot and today was no exception. Shrimp appetizer was amazing and the fish tacos were delicious although very messy because they pack them so full. My normal go to is the local style with the fish blackened. We have been to both location now and both have excellent food and customer service. Have tried the fish and chips; LOVE the Panko breading. Lots of French fries. I can't say enough good things about the food here especially the macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi. It's definitely my go to! It's perfectly cooked mahi mahi coated in macadamia nut crust served with Coconut mango sauce soooooo good the mango sauce is addictive served with brown rice and famous coconut milk coleslaw or substitute steamed vegetables. I stopped here for late lunch on a Tuesday. I was less than impressed. The employees were morose and seemed miserable. The restaurant seemed clean, but the overall vibe was somber and off-putting. I ordered the fish tacos and they didn't smell fresh, were overly sauced which made the tortillas turn into a soggy mess, and completely bland. I have good memories of the location over on Shea when I worked in that area. This place didn't live up to my experiences at the other location. I know people really love this spot so I could have totally been there on an off day - we all have those - and I have coworkers who rave about it. Quick lunch of fish tacos, companion had chowder. The fish is in chunky pieces not fillets, and there are two types in the tacos. They are extremely tasty and the toppings include mango which I love. The only thing that was a little strange was the two taco entree was served on two separate small round luncheon plates, instead of a platter. Perhaps they ran out of platters or this is their normal. They were still yummy. Order at the counter and they bring it to the table. Cheerful friendly people, who checked back in frequently to see if we needed anything else. Patio dining will be great for fall, I look forward to coming back and trying more of the menu. read more

So we've been to Coconut's fish cafe in Maui and Kauai several times in the past, and we absolutely loved it. Just a month ago we were in Kauai again and thought we'd go for lunch, but we discovered that it was permanently closed. Our hearts were broken, broken I tell you! Sadly, we learned that many places permanently shut down due to limited tourism in Hawaii that first year or two of COVID. Boooooo! The day after we got back from Kauai, we took a road trip to Scottsdale, AZ to see some friends. Guess what?! We see a Coconut's Fish Cafe! Say whaaaaat! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and cozy, with that laid-back island vibe that we hadn't snapped out of just yet. What a gracious way to ease back into reality, slowly. Haha! The staff was so incredibly nice. The restaurant was immaculate. The bathroom was SO clean. You can tell the staff was on top of maintaining this joint. Constantly cleaning up everything, everywhere. But the real star of the show, of course, was the food. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The fish tacos were as good as I remember them. Dead lord. The mahi mahi was tender and juicy, and the homemade salsa was the perfect complement. It was our first time getting the blackened mahi mahi and I was so blown away. The photo doesn't do it any justice. It was super yummy, even the brown rice and the coleslaw were so so good. Can't wait to get this dish again. Meanwhile, we just gotta hope they open up a location in LA. Highly recommend this place! read more

We have been going to this location for the past few years. We always had a great experience. The food and fish were always fresh, and the weight staff was wonderful and attentive. Last night my husband and I went for dinner. The restaurant did sell and there are new owners. first my seafood salad came out not blackened as requested. I explained this to the waitress. Her response was she can give me blackened seasoning to put on top or she can take the original fish back to add it. I had already bit into it. She was willing to put my fish that had my germs on it back on the grill. My husband and I were shocked. She ended up giving me a new piece as requested. I saw her behind the counter putting her hands in her mouth and constantly touching her hair. She was one of people delivering food! When we arrived, I heard another woman complaining about the key lime pie. She said it did not taste right. They raised the prices. We were now paying about $7.00 more total for the same items. When I went to the ladies room it was obvious it was not maintained. There were paper towels on the floor. This was literally the first time we had a bad experience. We may try it one more time. I hope the new ownership is not slacking. It was definitely a very different experience. read more

It was a bit dry and the taste was blended. The fries was very skinny, they did not look anything like the traditional fish and chips. The mahi mahi fish tacos were good. It came with a lot of coleslaw and mango salsa which I enjoyed. It was like eating a salad. The tortillas were doubled with cheese in between like a quesadilla. This restaurant is in a great location set in a large shopping center. The staff are very friendly and helpful while trying to figure out what you may want to order. Once at the desk, you place your order and take a number stand to the table of your choosing. We ordered the coconut shrimp and calamari as appetizers, they were both good. The calamari was not your typical circular shape, they were closer to strips and a bit chewy. The coconut shrimp were perfectly golden brown and just the right amount of coconut coating. We both ordered the fish tacos as they were recommended but they were unfortunately very bland. The coleslaw didn't have any salt or flavor and the fish didn't have much seasoning either. I would def recommend trying something else, if you're looking for flavorful food. All the ingredients seemed fresh and well put together. They have plenty of salt and pepper shakers and different types of sauce bottles which is needed to slice of any dish ordered. There is both indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of free parking. The restrooms are extremely clean and well kept, just note they only have 2 single bathrooms. I gave 4 stars instead of 3 because the staff were so friendly. read more
