We have a dedicated circuit in the garage for an electric golf cart. Recently, we had switched the battery to lithium, and it apparently created a higher power drain during charging. Yesterday, we noticed that the power outlet was charred and somewhat melted. This obviously concerned us, and we wanted the problem quickly diagnosed and addressed. I called Maverick and they arranged to have two electrical service technicians to arrive at my home within 3 hours. These two gentlemen quickly identified the problem and provided options to address. I agreed to move forward, and the work was done immediately. They install new 12-gauge wire (which should have been used in the first place) from the panel through conduct to a new plug. They also installed a whole house surge protector at main electrical panel. I am very pleased with the service experience. After reaching out to a few electrical companies, we quickly learned that they all had super expensive initial evaluations; maverick had an affordable $49 eval! They started out great. It was like 6 PM on a Friday and a heat wave. They came out to do an AC tuneup but my air conditioner was completely dead. They didn't pressure me to buy a fancy air conditioner though I did have to replace mine 15,000 bucks. Ever since they've gotten paid, they will not return my calls. It has failed it city inspection and despite me calling them six times and writing them they will not come out to fix the issue. I'm looking into a small claims clear or what I can do. These guys are far from the rocket scientists they portray on the radio. Seedy tech gave a half hearted diagnosis and said I needed to replace my whole system. Uhm, no. It just needed a new valve and a fill up (under $600). Yes it's old, but doesn't need to be replaced. I called Maverick Electric Heating and Air after losing power in 2 rooms in my house. They set up an appt. for someone to come out the next day to find the problem. The gentleman who came explained what happened, why it happened, what needed to be done... and told me he had everything with him to do the job that day! He was friendly, expedient, kept me apprised of what he was doing, we had gone over the cost, what that covered and I was so pleased. **Update**: I called Maverick on Aug 09 to register my complaint and ask for a refund of the overcharge. Lauren took the message and said they would look into it and get back to me Monday Aug 12th. Never heard back soI called back on the Aug 20th. Was told by CPA they would offer $99 refund for the diagnostic charge. I asked to speak with a manager. Haley was the manager they referred me to. I explained again how 1)their price was 3 times the industry standard to replace a capacitor. 2) I was told this would fix the problem. Nick didn't even go into my attic to take a look at other parts of the system until after he charged me $655. I have pictures of the frozen coils which did not occur within a few minutes of a capacitor going out obviously. Nick also told me that the TXV would've been the cause of the capacitor going out. If he knew this why wouldn't he have been up in the attic taking a look at that TXV before he charged me the $655 telling me that it would fix the problem. This manager checked with Nick's manager and they came back with the same $99 offer. I asked Haley are you comfortable with the fact that your company charges three times the amount that everyone else does industry standard according to the research I did (which was calling other companies in addition to locating credible sources like Forbes and other places where they give ranges of cost for various services)? The company I ended up hiring to actually fix my air conditioner would have charged $165 parts and labor for the same capacitor . Haley said she was comfortable with their prices being what they were. I also asked if she was comfortable with the idea that they don't do through checking before they charge someone a price for something that may or may not fix it. She said yes, that is our practice . When I told her that $99 was not enough of a refund and that I would be reporting to the BBB and updating my reviews with everything she told me. Then she withdrew the $99 refund offer and said we don't offer anything to someone who's blackmailing us. I told her I was going to update my review and register a complaint with the BBB and reiterate what she stated that they are comfortable with the practices and their pricing. Since when did repeating in a review what a company tells you and what they do and that they are comfortable with those become blackmail ? If you are comfortable, then I guess you are fine with others knowing, unless you actually know what you are doing isn't good, and now you are calling me a blackmailer for simply stating your truth. Wow. Original review: My A/C wasn't working. Nicholas came out and diagnosed the problem as the Capacitor, it needed replacement for $655. I agreed to have him replace. After replacement he then did more diagnostics and said the TVX Valve caused the capacitor to go bad and it also needed replacement at a quote of an additional $3500+. I was not happy. He couldn't do the work anyway. When I looked online at what the average cost to replace both, at least 3 x the cost of the highest of averages. Called a new company today, they quoted $165 labor and parts to replace Capacitor. They are coming tomorrow to re-diagnose the system. I'm a disabled senior and feel totally taken advantage of. Who gives a quote to fix, installs new part, then after tells you that another part needs replacing or else it will make the new part go bad?? To a total cost of about $4300? This is how a shyster does business. I have tried calling to talk with someone and complain. Haven't received call back even though my number was in the cue. read more

Summary: Extremely expensive for basic home light repair. The electrician who showed up was professional and friendly so this is just about the cost quoted, not the person who showed up. I will just say that the prices quoted were offensively high and absurd. Quoted $515 for parts and labor to simply change 5 light bulbs around the house! And an additional $700 on top of that to fix the ballast of the fluorescent bulbs in the garage. I ended up finding another reputable and certified business in the area that repaired a remote control unit of a ceiling fan, replaced the 5 bulbs, and did the ballast repair in the garage for $200 plus parts, and it was all done in one hour from a hard working professional, and no $49 dollar fee just to show up and write a quote. The $49 was definitely a waste of money and I would consider changing this review if I could get a refund on that. It is possible that this business is more suited to corporate business buildings where they can overcharge or maybe have a subscription fee, but for basic home repair I would say to avoid. read more

Plumber Robert came to my parents house today to look at there Water Heater because the Pilot Light was out. Robert was able to light the Pilot Light, and provided my parents with his diagnosis. Robert gave estimates to repair and replace the Water Heater. He answered all my endless questions and explained throughly the technical aspects of the Tesla wall charger I wanted to put in, the different location options and how it would work out. As first time home buyers to a older home there is a lot we don't know, however we called Maverick and got on a membership plan that offered services at a great price all for the low cost of 19.95 a month. It came with a yearly ac tune up, which is what we called for in the first place, a yearly furnace tune up, and a yearly electrical maintenance! This way we are taking care of everything and don't have to worry about unexpected repairs out of no where plus if we do need a repair at least we will get 10% off the service and we get the priority of going first! Their tech, while on speaker phone with his boss in our kitchen, quoted us an HVAC installation of $24,000, and with rebates should end up around $20,000. We went forward the installation in July, and never heard from them again. I called them over 6 times since July, and never received a return call. I agreed to have my tenants 20 year old system to be replaced. So they installed it last July 10-11, 2023. Today August 5,2023... not even a month, my tenants called, complaining that their brand new aircon is not working. I called Maverick and said they can come and check it on August 7, Monday. All the plugs and lights in my master suite went out. When I checked the circuit breakers, I found one was off. I tried over and over to turn it back on but it would not stay on. I called Maverick Electric the next morning and they dispatched Ace Saavedra to my home. Ace was thorough and careful and found the problem after a significant amount of testing. Once the problem was discovered, he repaired the short and put everything back the way it was. He knew what he was doing at every step of the way and was courteous and professional. Given the amount of work that Ace did, the price was extremely fair. I strongly recommend this company. Their staff, including the reception staff and the technicians are outstanding. Local radio is inundated by "what would a Maverick do" ads - overly emotional stories of mavericks in other lines of work like being an astronaut. I wish I was kidding but this HVAC company puts these out. So, when I needed service on an item in their area I did not even seek them out...but Yelp put them on one of my quote requests. They then responded that they don't do this service (a very common thing I was seeking). What a waste of my time. I guess that's what a Maverick does. UPDATE: This company's radio commercials are still going strong, still sappy, still over-the-top. I had to update this review because of their latest commercial regarding their generator installs..."we don't just install generators, we TEACH generator install." You can't make this up. Maverick wanted to charge $49 to make a sales call. I sent a detailed description with wiring schematics and photos to multiple electricians - to SAVE THEM time and money. Everyone wanted to bid on the job. And they all offered to come onsite at no charge (of course!) - all of them except Maverick. Maverick asked me to pay them a sales quote. Unlike most companies, Maverick offered to schedule a billable appointment ($49) so one of their technicians could give me a proposal! With so many good electricians interested in this job, I think I'll take that $49 and pay it as a tip to someone whose earned it. read more

ITS A SCAM!! UNEXPERIENCED ELECTRISIONS!! I hired Maverick because I was having some issues with a LED ceiling fan that kept flickering randomly. The gentleman that came over and checked and told me the issue I had was because of a piece of TAPE that was messing with the wires which caused the issue. After he left the flickering was still there so I called them back. We wanted to make sure that there wasn't a fire hazard so we were desperate. After he came back the second time he charged us $200 to basically take a better look at the wires. He then said he couldn't find the issue. I asked if it's possible if it's just the led light that needed to be changed and he said "maybe but you would have to replace the WHOLE FAN, the led cannot be changed " I tried explaining to him that I saw Home Depot sold separate led lights but he kept insisting the whole fan would have to be changed. I thought it was complete bs so I bought the item myself and had to install it. Easy as that! And it works fine ever since. $275 STOLEN!! read more

I was due for a regular heating and air maintenance. My regular technician Jeff came out to inspect my unit and made sure it was fully operational and clean. Jeff made suggestions for future repairs that may come up due to normal wear and tear. As per usual he was there on time and I got several texts in advance to let me know when he was arriving. After going over the system performance report he was off to his next appointment. Maverick always has fast efficient professional nice technicians that are knowledgeable and reliable. I DON'T recommend Maverick Electric. When we called for a partial power outage in the building, Maverick electric was quick in its responses. However, it lack the knowledge for electrical diagnoses and repairs. Its electrician could not find a break in the power and blame fault on a circuit breaker. He replaced a breaker. We paid over $800 for diagnostic and an old breaker replacement. He then went on to blame a light and quote us for a ridiculous price in the thousands. He could not fix our power outage while charged a bunch of ridiculous fees. We had to contact another electrical company. They came and restored power back with a fraction of what Maverick quoted. read more

For my case, the work was started on 2/12/2023 and Josh (manager) promised me the electric panel change and other work in contract should be completed within in 3 weeks but it's still not finished yet ( more than half a year now) . He sounded very confident at that time so I paid all payment in full but everything changed after that. I tried to contact them many times but you can not get a meaningful response or response at all. Sometimes they said they were all busy, other times they said they would get back(and never get back)... I have no choice and have no idea how to proceed... I loss $2000 monthly rent because of this but I really doubt they would refund me $2000 * 6 for my total loss. Please choose other services if you can.
