Dear Joshua Warner, Owner / GM ~ Maverick Electric, Heating & Air, Roseville Ray, my husband, and I belong to the generation which enjoyed the 1957 to 1962 'Maverick' TV series with James Garner. Like most mavericks, we've always been mavericks of a sort ~ steady careers, but weekends spent boondocking and having fun. When we decided it was time to get a whole house generator, as opposed to solar, I checked a whole bunch of places (and the California State Licensing Board, Better Business Bureau and reviews) BEFORE we selected Maverick Electric, Heating & Air, Roseville. Even with all the issues (me, hot August days, hardpan, very deep electric and gas line trenches dug between a sidewalk and fence and the odd death of the Keurig coffee maker) the guys (and Hailey on the phone!) stayed true to the Maverick persona ~ smile through everything and do the job well! On Monday, July 25, 2023, we had Technician Jeff Jenkins out for summer maintenance on our HVAC system. Although we knew it was living on borrowed time, we opted to have some of the A/C's 20-year-old parts replaced with new parts, just to get it through one last season. I asked if that's like putting a new tranny in a very old car, hoping it would work with the old transfer case. A week later, after Jeff and Joseph tried to work their magic, we knew we needed a new tranny, new transfer case AND a new car (or preferably a new HVAC system). On Monday July 31, 2023, I telephoned Maverick. Michael (BTW ~ he's a die-hard Doors fan!) asked if we'd like to have a same-day eval. WHAT!!?? Steve Nevarez, his perfect smile and even better customer service was there in about 30-minutes. After he spent a VERY long time evaluating our needs and explaining our options, we decided to go for it. Incredulously, he said the Maverick installation crew could have the ENTIRE SYSTEM (without new ventilation ducts ~ they're in excellent shape) completely installed the next day. Fast forward to 8 am Tuesday morning, three of the nicest, most polite and friendliest smilers came to our front door and said they had some work to do, 'ma'am.' Josh, those three young men should work with you forever! Kyle Mackay, Kurtis Lewis and Danny Pendergraft are top-notch Mavericks in our book! They wore booties to keep the floors clean; cleaned up insulation and stuff that fell out of the attic; treated the equipment like it was their own ~ gently; cleaned the sidewalks and put everything on the curb for the salvage guy to pick up (5-minutes after they left!). Except for this beast of a quiet compressor outside and wonderfully consistent cool air inside, we couldn't tell three, hard-working young men had been there for 7+ hours! It was amazing! HVAC systems aren't cheap. They never have been. But, for what we spent, we received excellent equipment, excellent service and now have over-the-top peace of mind knowing we had the best-of-the-best install our HVAC system ~ Maverick Electric, Heating & Air. Joey from Maverick Electric provided excellent customer service. My parents electricity went out around 8pm Saturday night, and we were concerned we possibly smelled something burning. We spoke with Joey over the phone about coming out to take a look at what was going on, but the earliest he come out would have been 10:30 Saturday night. We were very concerned about the smell , so Joey talked us through what to do to cut the power in the room with the burning smell. Crooks! Comcast damaged an AC line while run ing cable to my house and my power went out. Maverick knew Comcast was at fault so they made up a story and said whole panel needed replacement and quoted me 6k to repair. The Comcast supervisor came over and called a real electrician over the phone who said you really have to slam breaker to reset it on the older panel, and boom, electricity was back instantly. I needed some electrical work done in Galt, CA. Had an appointment set up for 4/1 between 4 and 6pm. They contacted me to say they overbooked for that day and set up another appointment for 4/5 between 3 and 5pm. Apparently, they showed up before a half hour before their window, waited a few minutes, then called their dispatch at 3:01pm and said that no one at my house knew anything about any electrical work to be done. When I called to find out what happened, I was told that their technician drove all the way to Galt from Citrus Heights and could not be called back to carry out the service. Also told me that they did not do work over weekends so would not be able to get back to service me until sometime next week which was not going to work for me. Since they did not show up during the time frame that was requested (unless you can call being there and calling their dispatch @ 3pm) as being between these hours, I find that there was no value for my time that was wasted to be here during the requested hours (3 to 5pm). sincerely a frustrated homeowner. read more

I recently replaced the siding on my duplex with fiber cement, and needed to move some electrical wires attached to the exterior of my home in a rush. I contacted Maverick Electric, and Joseph came out the next day. He actively listened to what I wanted, gave recommendations, and explained how he would move the exterior electrical wires so they would not be visible on the new siding. I needed 4 fans installed, many GCFIs repaired, light switches rewired, and mystery switches identified. On a separate visit, I needed a remote control compact laundry line installed (a "Foxydry" that lowers a rack from the ceiling on which to dry clothes). Maverick sent Nate for the first job and Chris for the second. Nate and Chris are both very detail oriented, which I believe is the case for all Maverick electricians. For the ceiling fans that replaced lights, Nate had to install fan boxes and was very careful to place the fan base to minimize any leftover space in the stucco after the lights were removed. He, and later Josh, also took the time to work with the fan manufacturer to secure warranty replacements when the new fans' transmitters weren't working. Maverick held open an appointment for me so that when the parts arrived, they could be installed asap. Nate also identified issues with the outdoor GFCI outlets that he fixed. He worked through my list methodically, explained things to whatever detail I needed, and was genuinely nice. Nate also replaced kitchen ballast lights that I wanted updated. Easy and fast job, and as another review said, very much the gentleman. Chris installed my electric laundry rack. We had a thorough analysis of where it would fit best, which is critical. During installation, he realized that the provided bolts would not sufficiently support the weight of the rack and he devised a way to secure it to studs without compromising the location of the rack within my required set-backs from cabinets, etc. He was resourceful and enthusiastic and I was overjoyed with the result. Also very nice to interact with. Maverick electricians and staff are knowledgeable, polite, friendly, efficient and professional. I recommend them wholeheartedly. read more

I Reached out to Maverick during 4th of July weekend. I asked for a service tech to look at my HVAC. The unit had stopped blowing cold air and it was 110 degrees out. Maverick did not send an HVAC tech they sent a salesman. The salesman decided to hook up his gauges to my HVAC system and explain to me how the refrigerant system had a leak and the only thing I could do was replace the inside and outside coils or the entire system. I did not tell the salesman that I was a senior superintendent and have been in construction management for over 20 years and I new he was lying to me. He quoted me $15,000 to replace the system, which I would say is a fair price. I explained to him at that point, that I have friends in the industry and I would be getting a second opinion. A few days later a start up tech from a commercial HVAC company that i work with all the time came to the house. Within 10 minutes he replaced my fan motor capacitor and the system was up and running. The part was $12 dollars at Ace hardware. He asked for $120, I paid him $200. I called Maverick to explained what had happened an ultimately just wanted an honest company that I could reach out to next time I had trouble. They just sent me to voice mail and never returned my call. The real problem was the family that lives in the house were suffering when the system could have easily been fixed the day the salesman showed up. I Have never in my life written a review. Oh my! This went left really quick. We hired Maverick to install 3 security keypads without the wiring showing. Nate was honestly a nice guy. The problem started with a little miscommunication. We were quoted for an entire security installation to include keypad, sensors, and motion detectors. The price was $1k. They took off $300 because I said we didn't want the sensors. What's funny was I tried to get the final price before he came back for installation and they wouldn't provide. Definitely a red flag I ignored. He didn't even say anything about final price until work was completed. But I wasn't upset about that. What I was upset about, was the damage to the wall. Nate said I can fix myself. I tried. But it didn't work out, so I contacted the company the next day to ask them to come back and repair. They REFUSED to come back (Hailee). They decided to change the $300 from covering just the sensors and motion detectors (there were a lot of sensors to install-approx 25 windows), to also including the damage to wall! Talk about lack of integrity and lack of professionalism. Now I have to do paperwork with CSLB to get them to come back. So annoying and extremely disappointing. The damage has been quoted to be about $245 for repair by handyman, which isn't a lot of damage. It just isn't something we should have to shell out. Update: This guy says there was no damage, but Nate says he know he caused the damage and Hailee says they know about the damage, but the $300 included compensation for it. Smh. Obviously, someone is being dishonest. Buyer beware! read more

Wish I had read more of these reviews prior to having this company out. We had a beeping smoke detector high on our 20' ceiling. My husband just got out of the hospital and could not climb ladder to replace the battery. Called Maverick based on their radio ads and the fact that they were less than a mile from our house. Told the rep we either needed battery replacement or perhaps a new smoke detector with 10 year battery (saw them for $20 at Home Depot). She said service call would be around $45. She said cost would be dependent on how much the smoke detector was; they had several to choose from. Rep arrived. Nice enough. Without even looking at smoke detector he said included in service call is for them to inspect breaker box to be sure everything running ok. Came back in with 'quote.' It would be $2,000 to replace breaker/breaker box because it was over 10 years old and then they could give me a 'deal' on the smoke detector (note that everything was running perfectly and why would anyone replace ALL of the breakers??). If we just went with the smoke detector it would be over $500 (!!!!!). OR option 3 was service call for $45. I paid the $45 and was done with this company! So outrageous. Had another electrical company (Precision Electric in Grass Valley) do the same exact job for less than $100 including the cost of smoke detector and changing a bunch of light bulbs for us). So if you ask, like their radio spot, "What Would Maverick Do?" He would RUN LIKE HELL and hire someone else! Total scam and waste of a hard earned $45 at the holiday season when it is much needed. read more

This is an update to my first review done in February 2021. I used Maverick Electrical Services to ready my house for sale; it was a small job and a "test" to see if I might be able to use their services in the future. The contacting, updates and work was great. So when I had a lot more electrical tasks to be done in the house I bought in April 2021 I was hopeful that everything would be as good as it was previously. Unfortunately a big "no"! The booking process was much further in advance, the technician did an okay job and was not as competent and friendly. The biggest disappointment was in pricing! Maverick Electrical Services has the highest prices for average work with below average customer service. I will not use them again in the future and do not recommend them now. Always hopeful that service companies maintain their quality of service and possibly even improve; it was definitely NOT the case this time. read more
