I came here because I've been curious. I'm a local & I love finding local places to eat. I've passed by Max & Meme's & loved the name. Then the sign that says "BIG ASS(et) OMLETS" - I was intrigued. We tried to go for breakfast a few days ago & walked in & stood at the door by the "Please Wait To Be Seated" sign for 10-15 min. Servers passed by & saw us. Waiters passed by. No greeting, no acknowledgment no nothing. It was busy but there were open tables available & someone could have at least said something. Really sad, since we're locals. There's something wrong with a place that makes you stand & everyone walks by giving you a disgruntled look. Also, I generally take a glance at the restaurant & see the expression of everyone there - no one looked happy. Not the people that worked there, nor the patrons. Sad. At the 20 minute mark, we left. Disappointing at best. This little café is a potential gem that just falls flat on its face. The outside looks a little worn, and yet it's cute enough to feel inviting and begs you to come inside. Once inside you are greeted by a somewhat worn café that's trying to be upscale, yet it fails at every turn. The seat covers are stained and worn, The salt and pepper shakers are dirty, and I was serve coffee in a cup that should've been thrown out years ago. The service was sub par. And I'm being kind. Entering the café there were only one or two customers, and not one person inside to greet me or sit me at a table. So I went to the counter and waited until someone finally saw me and told me to sit anywhere.My waitress did a fair job at collecting my order and bringing me coffee. But after she delivered my food she disappeared for good. Even paying my check was an unhappy experience. Oh, the food was barely ok. read more

We have eaten here before and weren't really impressed with the prices and they seem to overcook a lot of their food. I noticed some omelets being delivered to the table next to us and they were brown and the hash browns were a shade away from being blackened. They didn't look very appetizing at all. I ordered a BLT with macaroni salad. Again, a little too toasted and the bacon cooked a little too long. The waitress was very pleasant and nice but extremely forgetful. I asked for no lemon with my ice water, there was a lemon wedge on the glass. We asked for mayo on the side with our sandwiches and she forgot. Then we asked for more and she forgot again, finally bringing it when we were finishing our meals. On the way out we stopped at the front counter to pay and the same waitress was there holding a tray with food to deliver to a table on it, and she had her head turned looking for something, which caused her hair to lay on the food. The manager noticed, paused on his way to cash us out and brushed her hair off the tray and brought it to her attention. She then delivered the food to the table. All food all good, well prepared, served well and in a timely, friendly manner. Unique offerings as well as traditional. We always bring our own take-out containers (recyclable) because we know we wont be able to finish the portions, but they've gotten better at that. Bravo! Reduce food waste. I'm very skeptical of any rating of less than a three. I always check out the reviewers other reviews. It's very instructive. Most of the Food came out cold. Blueberries were cold and tossed on waffle - the pics on the menu looked like a compote, but when we got them, they were placed on top. Their sausage gravy is white gravy with sausage placed on top. Not sure I'll return. read more

My Mom and I decided to go to lunch and happened to remember this place. We were great promptly and seated by the window which was nice. Mom had the strawberry crepes and since her plate was empty quite quickly I'd have to say she enjoyed them. I had the Chef salad which was huge! Not shy with the meats, cheeses and veggies! This is such a cute local diner that serves great food for a great price. Everytime I go the service is quick and the employees are always sweet and welcoming!! I ordered ice coffee which came in a big mason jar with a side cup of milk. Make sure to ask for no ice if you do not like a lot of it in your coffee because there was a lot of ice in it!! I ordered the Strawberry filled french toast which is two french toast with cream cheese in between. The sandwich like french toast is covered with strawberry syrup, whip cream and powered sugar (they make sure you want all of it). It is a great size for around 7 dollars. I have had Max and Meme's bookmarked for a while so we finally came for Sunday breakfast. Easy to locate in Longwood. It's nice and roomy inside with lots of tables. We got there early and were greeted quickly. Waitress was attentive and friendly. Definitely a kid friendly place-she brought our daughter crayons and coloring pages. They have a good and very cheap breakfast menu. I had the traditional breakfast which was eggs, toast, bacon and home fries for about $5.99. My husband had the chicken fried steak. The food was hot, fresh and tasty. Large portions of food too. My daughter had the mouse pancake which she loved. Their biscuits are really good too! We will definitely be back. read more

I had really high hopes for this place because I like to support small businesses but this place doesn't deserve it at all. Our host was nice but our server, Chris, shouldn't be a server at all. He took his time coming to serve us and when he did he rushed us and after the food was brought out he never came back to check on us. I ordered the Bacon and cheese omelet which I have to say that was the blandest, driest, most unappealing omelet I have ever had and there was no amount of doctoring it up to make it taste better, no matter how much I drowned it in ketchup. Before this I never knew that you can mess up an omelet but they surely taught me something new. When we were done eating I needed a To Go box but everyone kept walking right by us as if we didn't exist until finally a server, not Chris, asked us if we wanted more coffee and I was able to quickly blurt out that I needed a box. I can safely say that this was my first and last time eating here. read more

This place is my boyfriend and I's favorite place to eat breakfast. We go here all the time. The food is wonderful and well prepared and extremely delicious! All the staff are incredibly friendly and sweet. They try their best to accommodate you and make sure everything is perfect. They have a wide variety of food and drinks. The pricing is good, only paid about $25+plus tip for my sister and I. The breakfast sandwich was surprisingly good but everything else was okay. The fries were pretty bland ( I don't think they put any seasoning on it ). The place was kind of unsanitary, everything felt pretty sticky. To the floors to the condiments. Hunger was the only thing that made me stay. I feel like this place has potential, the food needs more flavor while the place needs more maintenance done. read more

This spot is excellent, very clean, and friendly staff. Food was fantastic and brought out right away. Had mine and my children's drinks almost right away thank god cause we were thirsty. The staff is just out of this world amazing. I saw them running around to please every person that came in the door. Chris was fantastic with going up to every table to check on them. Frank was kind as always and always easy to talk to. Karen is a lovely waitress that really puts in the work saw a lot of cleaning from her and she even filled our drinks just in time before they were empty. Overall super satisfied with this small mom and pap cafe. Will be back again! Why can't every place learn from this fast efficient team. Waste of Time and Money. We went to Max and Meme for a family celebration February 17 at 1:00pm. We first ordered pancakes that took forever to arrive. When we finally received our pancakes there were no set-ups or butter at the table. Franc, our server seemed to be very attentive to a bra-less girl sitting at the bar. Five minutes later he brought the silverware. Five minutes later he brought the butter. Meanwhile the pancakes are cold, but the girl at the bar had plenty of Mimosas and food coming her way. My wife had a chicken sandwich that was completely covered in so much lettuce you could not see the chicken, with one thin ring of raw red onion that most people would throw away because it was stringy and not edible. The fries were soggy. Overall a terrible experience. Not ever going back, but I bet the girl at the bar will be back ! read more

I've eaten here before and it's typical breakfast - not bad and not great but suitable for a return. However, came in today and with empty tables we are told it will be 30 minutes to seat us cause kitchen is backed up and they need to put silverware down (30 minutes for silverware?). The guy was reaching for the reasoning for this ridiculous time to seat us in a small restaurant with empty tables. 10 or 15 minutes later, When that doesn't run us off (it should have), we are told by another server that the time to seat will now be at least an hour which would be close to closing time before we were even seated. That did the trick. My advice to the owners, when the kitchen is backed up and you will never catch up is to close the doors or at least tell people, you are done for day. It keeps the servers from doing passive aggressive things like creating fake times they hope will scare you away. Won't return for sure. read more

How ironic to be sitting in front of a little card saying "Life's too short to wait" while we waited 45 minutes to eat. We did get to see just about the entire restaurant turnover and many of them seemed happy with their meal, but ours was not worth the wait. And then to hear someone in the kitchen shout to the wait staff, "We control the food; if you have a problem you should speak up rather than whisper under your breath." We stopped in for the "no wait lunch", wanting to test the reality of the past reviews. The decor and music are a little reminiscent of grandma's house. The service is amazing! Upon stepping up to the glass cafeteria style counter, the jovial chef explained the lunch offerings: "It's delicious!". Our choices were served in a flour tortilla bowl rather than on a plate, neat! The home style cooking is what really brings it all together, then we really felt like we were visiting grandma. The mashed potatoes are real, the veg and gravy are great and both the pot roast and baked chicken we got rocked! The cashier came around and offered refills on our self serve drinks a couple times and also cleared our trays. To top it all off, free bread pudding! And all that for under 8 bucks. I stopped in the other day for Breakfast with my family...Not the smartest thing I have ever done!!! The place was clean and was new, so we expected too much I guess. We ordered 2 omelets which had no moisture left in them they were so overcooked.Our son got a pancake that I had to wipe some black griddle gunk off of.(the waitress told me"don't worry about it" My other son got chicken tenders and he was quite happy with that.I also did not like that 2 chocolate milks cost 6.00 (they did reduce the price after I complained that regular milk on menu is $1.79 so a squirt of chocolate is actually $1.21) I think my server was very new and hopefully she will learn not to hover for empty plates. I feel that even though they have just opened the prices are too high to have substandard food and service. Our bill was over $32.00 for 2 adults and 2 kids for breakfast. read more

Having exhausted all of our normal places for lunch, we were looking for something new. We took a gamble on Max & Meme's and, boy, did it pay off! The lunch was super fast, very well priced and, holy crap, was it delicious. I had the yankee pot roast, mashed potatoes, and mixed vegetables, served in a bowl made out of a flour tortilla. The meat was fall apart tender and extremely flavorful. The vegetables were well seasoned and well cooked. The mashed potatoes were made out of real potatoes. Enough said. After we finished the main part of the meal, we got a lovely treat of bread pudding. It was yummy, but would have benefited with the addition of a cream sauce or topping. The chef/owners/employees were super friendly and attentive. I can't wait to go back and I can't wait to bring more people! read more

This is the old Burger King on 434. They have done a nice job cleaning it up and making it look nice. The service was good, had no problems. The food was ok. We ordered the kids hot dog , kids chicken fingers, 1/2 lb burger and a pancake breakfast with basted eggs. Let's start with the kids meals. The hotdog was good. The chicken tenders seem to be hand breaded and was enjoyed by the kids even though they didn't have BBQ sauce for them. The hamburger was mediocre. The server stated they can cook them anyway so I ordered mine burger medium because I like it pink. However it came out well done and taste of charred from the grill. I order crispy fries and had to send them back due to they were not crispy, when they came back out the we're great. The pancakes were quite large however they tasted Bisquicky & bland. The eggs were ordered basted and came out perfect. That's a good sign that they know how to cook eggs. Overall not bad, I know they just opened so they still have kinks to work out. I wish them well. We may come back and try again after they have been open awhile. read more

I have been there three times and i am disappointed that i won't be going back. First time i had a country fried chicken, the chicken was good, the eggs decent, but nothing special. Second chance, i had a special order, nothing too complicated, and they hit it right out of the park. Third time though, really pissed me off. Same special order as last time, same server (who remembered me and the order and he is a great server, attentive and prompt.) Order comes out... Completely wrong, they brought out an extra dinner. When we complained, we were told that they wouldn't change it because "someone is in a bad mood" but were assured that they wouldn't charge more than they should. Check comes out with, Surprise! Full extra dinner price. We didn't eat the extra unwanted food, but when we brought it up again, the manager said it was the servers fault, and that we would have to pay for it, but lucky for us we can take our unwanted food home. It us a very unprofessional way to run a business, if the server or kitchen messes up you don't punish the customer. I was patient, i didn't yell, i just wanted the food i actually ordered, not a grossly inflated bill with food I don't want. Never going again, ill have to find a different diner for breakfast foods. read more

I love this place! Cozy- at home feel. Staff is super nice although it gets quite busy on the weekend and rushed. The current staff is especially nice and welcoming. Good energy. Now let's talk food. All American, BIG portions and very tasty. It's always my go to place in a moment of hunger because take out times are about 15 mins (and I'm a daily Starbucks customer). We came here while waiting for my car service to be completed. We were slightly concerned with the bad reviews but pleasantly surprised. I ordered the breakfast burrito with chicken, avocado and chorizo and my friend the veggie omelette. Both were delicious and the service was wonderful. Only the butter on the toast was a little strange looking so my friend did not eat it ;) the breakfast potatoes were crispy and amazing :) Also the service was friendly and attentive, with free bread pudding to boot. read more

The food here is okay. The prices were high compared to other places nearby. The coffee was not the best. We had someone new serving us, so it is hard to say if the service is good or bad. I think the menu is too big. I got an omelette, it was okay, the home fries were lacking. I personally would not go back, but maybe you will have better luck. read more
