Max's filipino fried chicken is a classic when going to this restaurant-- can never really go wrong with a simple fried chicken. Also got the kare-kare and lumpiang shanghai. The kare-kare's stew was too thick and there was not much beef. Just like the fried chicken, there's not much to go wrong with the lumpiang shanghai, so that was good. I did like the atchara on the side of the egg rolls. Service was decent. We ate pretty quickly, so not much interaction aside from ordering and asking for the check. Food was brought out pretty quickly so props for that. Overall, I would honestly stick to going to Gerry's Grill if I wanted Filipino food in a similar setting to Max's Restaurant.

Mango Sticky Rice

Consistent Flavors of Fililpino Food in the Menu taste the same back home from Manila Philippines! There was a new dessert Mango Sticky Rice it was sweet and delicious But I was surprised the mangos are small and sliced into cubes :( Our server was really friendly and nice, very attentive too.

Fried chicken, Pancit and Pork sisih

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I've been dining here for the last decade although it's a 45 minute drive since the atmosphere brings a nostalgic feeling.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We've ordered fried chicken but it tasted dry than usual, pancit was great but not a lot of vegetables and sizzling pork sisig which was not served sizzling and full of fat rather than meat. Service was slow too and nobody offered a water refills. Max's glendale was a hit before but not on my recent visit, so dissapointed and will be hesitant to bring back friends and family.

I was looking forward to having lunch at Max's but was disappointed by the level of service we received from the wait staff. He never looked at us in the eye or check if we were doing okay. He just served the food and left. My husband asked for soda refill and he just passed by and ignored him. The only good part of the experience was having the chicharon bulaklak. It was delicious and the host was welcoming.

Sour Pork Sisig - taste like soaked in vinegar and inedible.
Valentine V.

Valet parking only. On a Monday night, the wait was short, which was a plus, but unfortunately the food was a big letdown. The pancit canton was rubbery and tasted overcooked. The pork sisig was worse,it had an oddly sour flavor, like chopped pork soaked in vinegar. It didn't taste right at all. I'm not picky with food, but this was hard to finish. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend this place.

We had a magnificent and memorable time celebrating my godmother's surprise 70th birthday party inside the private room at Max's Restaurant in Glendale. The staff and Tita Maria (owner/manager) provided excellent customer care and service from the time of booking and choosing the food items and menu for the dinner buffet and reserving the dinner buffet party up until the very end of the surprise birthday party. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The private room was nicely decorated and set up for our birthday celebrant and guests.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Max's staff even had a monitor set up to show videos and slides during the party. We even had music playing and the emcee hosting the celebration.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Tita Maria we call her is the one that was the emcee during the celebration. She was also the event planner and menu planner at Max's. For the buffet, the food items served were, Crispy Pata, Kare-Kare, Sinigang, Max's Chicken, Lumpia, Pancit, white rice, Gulaman and Sago, Calamansi juice, Buko Pandan to name a few. They even provided to go boxes for all the left overs so the guests can take home the food. This is the 3rd time our family and relatives reserved a celebration at Max's Restaurant in Glendale and they always delivered with excellent customer service and delicious food. Thank you Tita Maria and Max's Restaurant in Glendale. See you guys again for the next celebration.

Ketsup for chicken but does not taste good

I am disappointed with the ketsup. Its blunt and sour. Pls bring back the jufran. We only come here for the fried chicken and the ketsup says banana? It is not!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]We recently had the pleasure of having a private room reserved for my family to celebrate an event.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I believe they gave us 15 minutes prior to the event start to really add any final touches but the set-up on the tables were already perfect and nicely laid out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff were also all very quick with drinks while some people haven't arrived inside yet and they served many of the foods efficiently and quickly while tending to any requests. The menu picked and served to us were some classic Filipino favorites: pancit bihon, white rice, crispy pata, pork sinigang, kare-kare beef peanut stew, and lumpia shanghai. There were multiple plates of the food, leaving us all very satisfied and filled. They gave us an appropriate amount of time before coming in with desserts. We were served a nice small bowl of ice cream and gelatin. Meanwhile, Maria who was in charge of the event as the coordinator, was a great host and stuck to our cues for carrying out the planned schedule of the night. She did her best to help us out and her laptop easily played my mp4 video formatted files on my flashdrive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sound system played music well from her phone, which you can message to her your Spotify playlist of liking.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Of course, the karaoke segment was the most entertaining part of the event with our different guests enjoying the mic and the karaoke being a great experience for everyone to enjoy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking lot is valet parking for $5. Big thank you to all of the staff at Max's for their help, especially to Ramir, Maria, Ikkin, (sorry didn't grab everyone's names)!

Kathy M.

They have a parking lot, but its valet. $5 is the cost and theyre pretty fast. The host greeted us and we were sat within 10 minutes of our party's arrival. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is a family style restaurant and the ambiance was casual and very homey.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was delicious! We were a party of 5 and we still had some left over food at the end. We got their signature fried chicken. It was moist, and it had the right amount of crisp on the skin. We got an order of their appetizer of lumpia and they were delicious. Small enough where you dont get full, but dangerous if you dont keep track of how many you ate. We also got the kara-kara (i may have spelled it wrong) but it felt like a home made meal. Their rice was nice and fluffy, just the way I like it. We also got an order of the glass noodles and that was by far my favorite dish of the evening! The server was extremely nice and checked on us every so often. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restroom was nice too![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Can't believe this was in glendale this whole time. It was also a restaurant that my friend had on his list that he's been wanting to try. We will definitely be back.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]If you're craving Filipino comfort food, Max's Restaurant still delivers that nostalgic "home cooked family gathering" vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their famous fried chicken remains a classic crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and best paired with banana ketchup and rice. Dishes like kare-kare, pancit canton, lumpiang shanghai, and sisig continue to hit the spot for us , and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the atmosphere still feels warm and familiar for family style dining.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The halo-halo is my favorite! It's this dessert that has all these jellies with mung beans and ube ice cream. It literally means "mix-mix" in Tagalog. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I enjoy going to Max's in an hour because it reminds me of the Philippines.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There's not a lot of Max in Manila restaurants the US and one the main places family from out of town love going to. They usually end up wanting to come here. Deducting one star because service is a bit or miss and the downside is the pricing.

Crispy Pata

I loveeee Max's! It's one of my favorite Filipino restaurants to go to whenever I visit this area. The service is good and fast. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's always a good amount of people there having a good time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My favorites: the chicken, cooked to perfection, the sinigang baboy - perfect amount of sour, and the Sago 't Gulaman is sooo delicious.

Kare-Kare Pan
Joshua O.

I went here on Tuesday Jan 29 with my parents and uncle. We ordered kare kare and bangus sisig. Kare kare was amazing, the sauce was well-made and creamy. I've never tried bangus sisig before and I enjoyed it. Not that fatty compared to pork and beef sisig. We ordered more but they're not pictured. Service was great. The waitress asked us how we were doing often and got us napkins since we only had a cloth that held our utensils. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was nice, it was well lit. Music was playing, there were covers of different songs by I'm assuming Filipino and Filipina singers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I didn't go inside since our friend got it for takeout!! so yummy that my friend's pupper begged for some too :)

Ask the Community - Max's Restaurant - Glendale

Do they have free parking? Update: been there today and yes they have parking BUT they only allow…

At the restaurant parking lot no. Theres a valet that makes you pay whether you self park or not. If you park on the street I think so but you can't park on the street in front of the restaurant bc it is a light

I would like to make reservations for 15 people it's birthday celebration June 30th 2024 at 11:00 am how would I make reservations?

You can call or visit them. They have a section for private parties.

How much is valet parking?

think it's $5. worth it.

Do you have self-parking available or only valet parking?

They have valet parking available.

Do you require vaccination?

No they don't

Do they have the tapa back on their menu, or breakfast in general?

I don't think they serve breakfast since they don't open early enough for that. Due to the Pandemic, they raised their prices (as expected) but scale down on the serving size (not good). If they ever do Tapa, it's one dish that Pinoys eat for…

Do you guys know what soy sauce they use? I know pansit bihon is gluten free cause it's rice noodles.

I don't think so

Do they have vegan options?

No, but they have veggie dishes.

Do we need to make a reservation in using the videoke room? Any minimum amount or headcounts?

I know for sure that u need to make a reservation to use d videoke room because we’ve used it several times in the past. I just dont know how much is d deposit, sorry! I think it depends on d foods ur gonna order for ur party.

Is there still renovation going on inside the restaurant?

Renovations are done. Restrooms are now located by dining area instead of by the reception/waiting area in front.

Do they take reservation?

We called on a weekday for lunch and they said they do not take reservations.

Sweet Demi Lune Bakery & Café…read more Sweet Demi Lune Bakery & Café reminded me that we live for the wonderful experiences that remain to be discovered. After a wonderful lunch date with my wife at Raffi's Place (please read my review and thank me later) in Glendale, I decided to look for the perfect dessert. After scouting several nearby locations, I decided I was in the mood for a great cinnamon roll. Sweet Demi Lune Bakery & Café looked like the place that would deliver the experience I was seeking. SDLBC is listed as being in Glendale, but it's located in the historic Old Town of Montrose. That's beside the point; I only mention it because there are additional places to explore just up the street. We arrived around 3:00 p.m. on a Saturday, and there wasn't much of a selection left, including the highly sought-after cinnamon roll. The gentleman behind the counter greeted us warmly, and I immediately asked if that was all the pastries they had. He said yes. I contemplated leaving because of the nonexistent cinnamon roll, but I didn't want to be rude, so I decided to give the bakery a try since we were already there. So, we basically took half of what remained behind the glass display case: a Peach Almond Croissant, a Raspberry Pistachio Croissant, an Almond Croissant, and then my curiosity focused on a few lonely-looking pastries that were unfamiliar to my discerning eyes. I asked the gentleman what they were, and he replied with something that sounded completely foreign to me: Kouign-Amann. Kouign-Amann (pronounced queen ah-MAHN) is a traditional pastry from the region of Brittany, France. It is often considered one of the richest pastries in the world because it is made with just a few simple ingredients in generous proportions: bread dough, butter, and sugar. Figuring we needed a few more sweets for the road, we took all the remaining Kouign-Amanns. Two were the traditional version, and the other two were filled with crème and blueberry jam. We also ordered a Café Americano and a Café Mocha. While we waited for our drinks, I simply couldn't wait any longer. Like a kid on Christmas morning, I eagerly opened my gift and dug right into the Kouign-Amann. Hesitantly, I tore off a tiny piece with my fingers, expecting nothing extraordinary, and instantly gave birth to a brand-new experience that exploded in my mouth. The crisp exterior gave way to the soft, flaky center, followed by waves of what tasted like delicate honey. I tore off another piece and shared it with my wife. One look at her eyes told me she wanted more. By the time our drinks were ready, we had devoured one of the Kouign-Amanns and confessed to the gentleman behind the counter that we had just experienced pure ecstasy in the form of a pastry. Kouign-Amann is, in fact, one of the richest pastries in the world, so don't let the unfamiliar name keep you from trying one. The Café Americano and the Café Mocha were also exceptionally well prepared. With everything that's happening in the world these days, a simple yet profound experience like this reminded me how wonderful life can still be. Like Arnold said... "I'll be back." Enjoy!

I stopped off and had to have the chocolate mousse sponge cake. It's gluten-free and I will tell…read moreyou they have a lot of really delicious things to try. The croissant selection is incredible. I love the indoor seating, but they also have outdoor seating. I washed it down with a short Americano, two shots and I threw in some extra cream. It's delicious. The coffee has a nice mild flavor, but nothing beats the sweets. I have to tell you this chocolate mousse cake is the right portion otherwise I would eat the whole thing in this case the powers that be more wise and gave me a slice and Man was it delicious.

We agreed the food and drinks were very delicious, but both of us wanted just a little bit bigger cups to enjoy more of our drinks. Walking inside, the restaurant had a beautiful hacienda-style atmosphere with comfortable seating. We arrived right when they opened, so it wasn't busy. The dining room was very clean, and the restrooms were spotless as well. I ordered the combo plate with two items: a chile relleno and a shredded beef enchilada with red sauce, served with rice and beans. The chile relleno was perfection! I loved that it was fluffy, not greasy, and incredibly flavorful. As for the enchilada, I really enjoyed the shredded beef. The red sauce wasn't very spicy, which I prefer. I love a flavorful enchilada sauce without too much heat. Some restaurants make their sauce overly spicy, but this one was just perfect. The rice and beans were also excellent. The rice was soft and fluffy, not dry or hard, and the beans were well-seasoned without being overly salty like they are at many other restaurants. I truly enjoyed every bite of my meal. My best friend ordered the combination plate with one item: a shrimp enchilada with green sauce, served with rice and beans. She absolutely loved her meal and already wants to come back. We also enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa, and we heard they make great margaritas too. My mother ordered the large bowl of menudo, which came with lime, onions, and cilantro.
