The place was may be one-third full, 5-6 tables with customers. We were seated at a table and handed menus and then no one followed up. There were at least 7 waiters, a couple of them were serving tables beside us - others were busy cleaning, some were just chatting among themselves. No one paid any attention to us. At 9:24pm (I timed) I flagged down the waiter serving the tables behind us and had them take our order. He noted it down and disappeared. We were kept waiting, while customers who came after us got their food, ate, and left. We never even got a glass of water At 9:55pm, 5 minutes before their closing time, my wife and I left the place and settled for McDonald's for the night. I really wish we went to Miyabi next door. From what I have heard before I came today, I didn't expect much but still wanted to give it a try. Of the bat, they were able to sit us and when I asked to be seated in a more cozy area, they said no because of how their staff gets customers, which we understood. Then we went ahead and ordered food. 20 mins after ordering our waiter came back and said that it will take 45 mins (YES, 45 mins!!) for the rice to cook. First of, for a restaurant that is new, they shouldn't have these kinds of delay for staple foods that customers order constantly! This is by far the most horrible customer service that I have ever encountered. The restaurant is barely 6 months in and no surprise why they have such a poor rating! Let me share my bad experience. First off, I was standing around for a good 5 minutes before someone even acknowledged me. When I was ready to order, my server didn't even crack a smile- her tone was as if I was an annoyance because it's 8:30pm and she wants to walk out the door at closing which is 9:00pm. She told me my total, and then I handed her my card. She printed a receipt for me to sign which and did, and then turned and said nothing. Not surprised by the rude manner, I turned away and took my phone out to check my emails. Next thing Ya know, a receipt is slapped on top of my phone- no words! I just took a breath and sat down. 20 minutes later and I'm still sitting there, and another customer walks through the door. I notice the customer- same as me, no acknowledgement. She even asked if I had been helped. A couple minutes later the same rude server walks up to the register, glares at the clock and then walks past customer, heads straight to door and flips the door sign to CLOSED! She says a few things to the customer and then walks to the back. As she walks out, I noticed three to go bags in her hand. The server not only lifts the bags in the air for me to stand up and get for myself, but she does not even say a word to me. She just stood there, bags in hand, and continued to talk with customer. This is such a shame for a popular Filipino restaurant. I've been to other Max's locations and this, by far, is the worst! I get better service at Chow King & Jollibee! My husband and I along with my niece and sister went to Seattle for the weekend and tried the Max's resto there which is about 1.5 miles away from the Hilton hotel we were staying at ... I am from Houston and have tried the new Max's resto here and each time has been a disappointment ... don't get me wrong I usually give a resto several chances and not just once or twice but at least 3x, but in my case it only got worst each time ... going back to the Seattle Max's this location is one of the best Max's I have been to. First off let me say, the fronk desk was extremely disrespectful to both me and my kids. The lady kept staring at us as if we needed help (Which we did, since we have not been seated yet) But she made no effort to greet us. Mind you the restaurant was empty. After about 8 minutes on the phone she finally decides its time to seat us. When we were seated the tables still had crumbs, it seemed cleaned but not a thorough job at all. The food was absolutely terrible, the chicken was undercooked and skin wasn't crispy at all. The fries were dry. Despite it being an empty restaurant the servers were nowhere to be found, and in the 40 minutes i spent trying to scarf down this disgusting food, the waiter didn't even fill our water. I ordered their signature whole fried chicken, cut into serving sizes (was told they can do that) and a fresh lumpia for pick up. I was told 15-20 min. I got there a little past 30 min. The two ladies at the counter (one helping a customer with their payment and another folding napkins around the utensils). The cashier left after the customer left and I was left standing there. The lady folding napkins then turns around so I told her that I was there for pick up. She touched her nose (I'm sure out of habit but not a good look for a restaurant with this ambiance), touched and looked at one of the packages and said that mine is probably being fetched from the kitchen and on its way out. I waited at least 3 minutes (but it actually felt longer). I then told her if she was sure that the other package wasn't mine. She then checked the name for that other package and sure enough it was mine. I went home, opened the box, it was not cut up in serving sizes. The chicken's flavor was good but it was very dry. The fresh lumpia is good/ok. I once had their chicken, reheated from a friend's house and was not impressed then. Thought I'd give them a try that night I went. I already heard bad reviews from different people in the past. As you can see from my review, still not impressed. I already have a pre-planned date with a friend there next week and will try the chicken for the last time. Giving 1 star because of the service we received! But before I explain why 1 star I would like to say that the food was really great and was not disappointed whatsoever. We ordered: Half of The Chicken Lechon kawali sisig And regular garlic fried rice The chicken was so good, its golden chicken skin is crisp to perfection and the chicken itself is juicy and not dry at all! As for the sisig, it was sizzling and citrusy but the only thing I criticize about it is the portion. Its pretty small for $13.99. The garlic fried rice was good as well and complemented the two other dishes we got! Overall meal was filling and delicious. Moving forward to as to why service was unforgettably horrible, we got to Max's Restaurant before 3pm and we got seated right away after being asked by two hostess how many is in our group (me, my boyfriend, and our toddler). Our server came to our table and gave us a few moments to figure out what we wanted to order. So after a few minutes waiting for her to come back my boyfriend ordered half of the chicken and garlic fried rice. And I continued by telling her that I wanted the Lumpiang Ubod (actually corrected her right away coz she assumed i ordered the lumpiang shanghai) and to my dismay she told me that that item is not available. So I nicely asked what is not available in the menu before I choose something else. She stated other items (which she should have informed us in the beginning smh) and I decided to try the lechon kawali sisig. We hungrily waited for our food and when it finally came it uplifted me from my disappointment since I really was craving to try Lumpiang Ubod. As we ate, tables were getting filled, getting busier. Our server came to our table if we needed anything and we just asked for some vinegar and water refills....after that....she was never been seen again. 10 minutes later or so we were full and done eating and had some leftovers. So we just sat there for awhile to wing down our server so we can get a togo box and our check. We couldn't find her so as one of the hostess that gave us our table passed by I asked her if we can please get a togo box and our check. Then she asked me, "um, where is your server?" Sightly annoyed by her question, I just told her that we've been waiting and looking for her but she's obviously not around. So she said ok and left and few moments later handed me togo boxes but no check. So back to our waiting game. Waited for 20 ish minutes so my boyfriend just went to the front to ask the hostess if he can just pay already since we needed to go. And he came back to our table and told him that we need to wait for our server to ring us up. At this point, I am getting frustrated, the hostess was just standing at her station doing nothing with no sense of urgency to even offer to look for our server). So we called a different server passing by and asked if he can bring us our check. And AGAIN ASKED US, "WHERE IS OUR SERVER" -what the hell?! I went out of the restaurant since I have to take my baby outside for a walk while my boyfriend waited since he was waiting for his card to be returned. Took him longer than 20 minutes to get his card back. In the end: if you ever want to go to Max's, just order to go. I hope they do something about their staff since I observed that there were some servers just standing in the corners talking with each other. And we don't know what ever happened to our server since she just disappeared. I have been to Max's restaurant in Philippines and other areas in California. This has been the most disappointing Max's chain restaurant. So my husband and I get there by 4:30 on a Sunday. We were 3rd next to be seated from the guest list. I look around the place, I thought wow it's very spacious and there's a lot of seating for people -- A lot of seating for people. 4 separate tables were empty. 10 min or so pass by. More hungry guests come in and write their names down the list. 30 min pass and it gets pretty crowded by the entry door. A hear a customer complain "why is nobody seating any of us there are now 6 empty tables for a long time". And I watch her go up to the manager. The manager finally decides to seat customers down a few minutes later. So it took us about 40+ min to be seated. Now that we're seated, I've been observing other customers who's had a table when we came in the door. Some of them just got their order. I thought wow our order is probably going to take 30-40 min to come in... We wanted to order the fried chicken (of course) and crispy pata. The server says they are all out of crispy pata for the day (it is now about 5:30pm). So instead we order pinakbet and fried chicken. The server asks us if we want any dessert after the meal. I ask if they have buko pandan and to specifically bring it after we are done with our meal. It took about 30 min for the food to arrive. The chicken was not bad tasting. The pinakbet was okay. I could cook better than that, actually Fil Cuisine could cook pinakbet way better than that. The server also brings in my buko pandan 5 min later AFTER they give us our entrees. The ice cream looked melted and it just looked like a sad dessert. I ask her if she could please maybe keep it in the fridge and bring it back after we're done eating. She politely says okay. So a few minutes later we're still eating and she comes back with the dessert. I let it go, though I was irritated, I figured someone in the back is telling her to bring it to the customer. The taste did not impress me. It also took an extra 25 min to get our bill. I find the management here to be very unorganized and lazy. Every time I looked at the front desk there was ALWAYS 3 to 4 people just standing around there NOT helping and just chatting. I'm not the only customer who thought that. I've ordered their fried chicken a few times and each time it's super dry & bland. KFC or Popeyes is so much better and way less expensive. Their fresh lumpia is lacking flavor as well, mostly made of a roll of starch, very little filling. We heard about this place from a friend of our daughter's and decided to try it tonight. We were not disappointed. This place is awesome and has a very friendly and attentive staff. It was busy and that's a good sign for a fairly new location. We learned that they've only been open for about a month. I ordered the whole fried chicken that they're known for. It came cut in half and partially cut further for ease of access. I used a fork to get the meat and it was easy to serve. The meat was so tender yet moist and delicious. It was recommended that we mix the table condiments together to dip the chicken into. The condiments were banana sauce, Worcestershire and Tabasco. They added a nice flavor to the meat. We also ordered a side order of large garlic rice to share (delicious!). The owner came by and visited with us for a bit and asked how things were. The waitstaff was also very attentive and friendly. They provided some complimentary lumpia and desserts for us as well. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Filipino (especially chicken!) food. read more

It took 15 minutes for our waitress to come and introduce herself, and by that time we knew what we wanted-- so we ordered. 3. It took 15 minutes to get our water served to us. And ONE HOUR to get our food. During this time our waitress never checked on us. 4. We had to waive down another server to get refills on water. I was in Max Restaurant in Tukwila with my brother and sister. We ordered pinakbet, crispy pata, lumpia ubod and kare kare. On top of that the owner Lotlot allowed us to taste their famous fried chicken - a full order on the house. The vegetables in the pinakbet were succulent and not overcooked, the crispy pata was perfectly crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside, and perfectly flavored. The lumpia ubod had a silky wrap around the hearts of palm, and the sauce was balanced with the right amount of sweetness. The fried chicken was to die for, it was delicately flaky and tender. The portions are generous. We consider ourselves good home cooks of Filipino Food, so we have high standards. Max has surpassed our expectations. read more

I went here for the first time and ordered pancit canton, half fried chicken, lumpia Shanghai, and halo halo. Pancit canton is usually my favorite so I gave it a try at this place. However it was a huge flop, the actual order came looked pathetic compare to the photo, 3 small tony shrimps with some onion on top. The noodle smelled like old noodle and look like instant noodle (not the egg noodle) but charged 12 or 13 bucks overpriced. I think I will just stick to the fried food or dessert and not the meals. We finally made it to the restaurant for lunch! Since it was on a Saturday, we made sure we got there before the lunch rush. The restaurant had a few tables, but got packed by noon. We ordered the Lumpiang Sariwa (they use ubod so it was really good); Fried Chicken (skin was crispy); Crispy Pata (always good); Crab Meat Fried Rice and Fried Lumpia. Dishes came hot and within about 15 minutes except for the Crispy Pata. The restaurant was clean, although a bit dark. They also have a private room good for parties of 50-60 people. Best Filipino food I've had*. *I'm not an expert in Filipino food. I've eaten at Jollibee and really like Lumpia World but that's about the limits of my exposure. Given that context here's my feedback: Dish 1: PORK SINIGANG (PORK TAMARIND SOUP) It was a cross between a hot and sour soup and a menudo. Strong Tamarind flavors. Done well, not bad but I suspect it's an acquired taste. Had an uncut Siling Labuyo pepper in it - ~100K SHU. Don't open it or bite into it. Dish 2: Max's Golden Fried Chicken Nicely marinated, fried but not breaded. Super crispy skin. Served with a garnish of fries. The chicken was small, I'd consider a 1/2 chicken about right per person. It's a style close to roasting and not the amazing Fried Chicken you can find in the South but it had a clean flavor, wasn't dry and had amazing skin. Garnish: Banana Ketchup Sign me up! Really. this stuff is the bomb. It's nuanced in flavor, not heavy or artificial. I loved it on the chicken. It's better than the BBQ sauce from most pacific NW BBQ joints. Side: LAING (TARO LEAVES WITH COCONUT MILK) Imagine creamed Saag Paneer without the Paneer and instead of cream poached using coconut milk. I eat a lot of Saag and prepare it at home. I'll be experimenting with this technique. With that said, I felt the curry seasoning was a bit rough and could have been improved. read more

The food we ordered came out within 10 minutes, and it was piping hot. The kare kare I ordered was good when it was fresh. When I took it home and after reheating it for dinner, it was a different story. The peanut butter soup was congealed despite being reheated and did not taste the same; it tasted like a thickener had been used instead of the peanut buttery taste it should have had. I'm not sure what it was or what had changed since it was me who packaged my own leftover. I craved kare kare and that's why we ended up at this restaurant. Last time we were at the restaurant we didn't get our food until 30-40mins after we ordered. I thought this was because they were new. I thought maybe if we ordered in advance we would get our food earlier... but no one answered the phone after 3 attempts of calling for 10 mins. So we decided to come in to order take out in hopes we would get our food quicker... we didn't get our order until about an hour of us ordering and that was because I had asked about our order. When they finally brought out our take out order, they then told me they didn't have one of the dishes we ordered. Luckily, I checked our bag because they were ready to let us leave without another dish. I had to let them know that we were missing a dish. This alone took another 15 mins. I will never come back to this place ever again. I would rather go to Sunset Manila. A family owned restaurant that has 10x better customer service and serves their food a lot quicker! Made the trip up bc Max's is FINALLY here. I've been to Max's in Philippines and in California so it's been long awaited. I came on a Monday during lunch time. I thought the wait was going to be super long bc my cousins were telling me they waited hella long but waited 10 min at most. We were seated and it took about 5 min for a server to come to the table. I ordered Calamansi juice for my kids to drink and try that out. Food wise, we got the half fried chicken, kare kare, the lechon kawali sisig, a large order of white rice and a buko pandan. Max's is famous for their fried chicken so that is a must to try. The skin is always crispy and doesn't feel overly greasy. The kare kare is actually pretty good here. Enough for me to want to order it. I'm so picky with kare kare. I've been to places where it's wayyyy too sweet or waayyy too watery that it doesn't have any taste. The one they make here is slightly sweet- kinda like it has some coconut milk in it. I do wish there was more vegetables in it but other than that, absolutely no complaints. The lechon kawali sisig was bomb too. Sisig is my bf's favorite and he ate everything. And the buko pandan I will say will always be my favorite. I really appreciate that they give you the macapuno ice cream Bc some locations don't do that. Timing is definitely key when it comes to being here. Some of the best food I've had in awhile. We had Max's chicken brought in for our work lunch and hands down the best chicken I have ever had. Everyone loved it. I was so happy that I was able to explore and share new foods with Mt coworkers. We are definitely going back and soon! I will be moving closer so I will be able to have it more often. The amount of chicken was huge and everyone ate the whole thing. Some didn't try the banana ketchup that's served with it but that sweet and sour tang is such an amazing complement to the fried chicken.
