    Mongolian BBQ Bowl
    Diane P.

This place is Mongolian BBQ. We got seated right away. They give you a piece of paper and you checkbox the items you would like in your bowl. They have kids, small, and large bowls. They have many categories to choose from when building your own bowl. You can also pick already created bowls. I had the small bowl of goodness in the photo attached. The shrimp was abundant which is my favorite along with chicken, and beef. There are a few appetizers, wine, beer, bobo teas to choose from on the piece of paper you make your selections from. They refilled my soda at least three times. I have not been since it changed owners and my dining experience was perfect, but I do miss putting the items in my bowl that was half the fun!!

Stopped in for dinner first visit to MB grill. The food is okay. nothing exciting. The fried rice is underwhelming in my opinion, it's little wet like it cooked with too much water, it's has no taste to it. Aside the fried rice. The noodles and other toppings I had and the seasoning makes up, for it. The noodles are savory. I mixed the fried rices into the noodles, since the fried rice lacks flavoring and it's wet. Fried rice needs texture and little less water. The place is dead quiet, possibly 4or 5 family around. I was briefly seated, the wait staff brought my water that's the only interaction I had the wait staff through out the night. Service could been better. Other than bringing the food and water. After trying this place, I'm not sure if I want to try again.

5/16/25- My gym buddy recommended I try this spot- It's really been difficult to find a good Mongolian Bbq..but I found one now! A special review for me #1800th.. Wow! Service attentive- I like the ordering on paper- it was kind of fun! Only minus- Korean rib was very chewy.. All the sauces blended well .. Ordered the fried won tons- nice that there were six... lol.. Definitely coming back!

first time here lots of parking MB Grill could have done a lot better with all of the sauces added to the dish, still lacked flavor and the proteins were not marinated the steak was frozen and definitely not fresh, had a poor purple/pink/stale red color and was chewy every protein on the plate was mediocre smells good, but taste and quality was not there

I thought this place was pretty good! You build your own stir fry on a piece of paper and we had our meals within 5 minutes. We both ordered the large so we could have leftovers and both had plenty for a full meal the next day as well. It's a fairly big place and they seat you - you don't order at the counter. Only downside was I wish there was more flavor in the sauce but maybe I didn't order the right one. I'll try it again for sure though!

This place lets you make your own customized Mongolian bbq plate. The staff quickly gets you seated. You will get a sheet that allows you to make your own bowl. It's good because it has alot of options. They come over grab your sheet and come back with your food. It would be cool to see them cook it more in front of you but it's not a deal breaker. The food is good but sometimes I feel like double up on the sauces to get a little more flavor. It's a different spot from the normal food options. It's a good place but still on the hunt for a little more!

Nice stop in Spanish Springs. Service is prompt and polite, and there was plenty of seating. My short rib beef was kind of chewy but the plate itself was satisfying. Asian theme thruout, the place was well lit and comfortable. Im coming back. Check it out.

Hi underrated! I came to this place for the first time and was completely blown away. As you enter, it's an older restaurant nothing fancy, so your perception based on that you say the food should be ok. Ha! I was completely wrong, don't ever judge a book by its cover. This is hands down the best Mongolian food in Reno! There's other Mongolian restaurants (big chains) that's been in Reno for years, but they have absolutely nothing on this place. Staff are friendly, sufficient and attentive. The quality, the flavor and the portion size is amazing!!!!! I love that I can customize it to exactly what I want and not pick from already made meals with the sauces they choose. It's great! I will be a cover customer. The house sauce is

DON'T LET THE BAD REVIEWS DISCOURAGE YOU! I came here for lunch for the first time and the waiter was amazing. He was super helpful and fast on the refills, also checked in multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed! His recommendations were also very on point! I ordered the beef short ribs and beef for my bowl with udon noodles with the waiters recommendation of the Korean and house sauces and it was delectable and a great portion size! The place was very clean and had an adorable patio!

Do they have an AYCE (All You Can Eat) option as posted on some of the menu pictures? If so, what is the cost?

    They do not.

Do they let you tamp down your bowls here?

You don't make a bowl here. You select your proteins and veggies off of a list and they prepare the food for you. They are generous portions.

Does anyone know if they use MSG?

They don't used any MSG at all.

Could you please post a menu? I'm tired of going into a place blind, and having to be disappointed in the flavor, quality, or prices

I posted the "menu" in the pics . It is prices only. The selection of food is not posted.

As someone who occasionally likes to eat alone, I really appreciate that. I've visited several times over the years, including recently under the newer ownership. Unfortunately, some of my old favorites aren't quite the same. I used to love their deep-fried oysters, which are no longer on the menu and have been replaced with deep-fried mussels. The kimchi stew recipe also seems to have changed and wasn't as memorable as before. That said, they still serve my favorite gopchang (beef small intestine). When cooked properly, it gets wonderfully crispy and reminds me of Mexican tripas tacos--definitely worth ordering. I'd personally skip the bibimbap appetizer. The rice was hard, the ground beef was cold, and it felt like it relied too heavily on the gochujang sauce for flavor. Even with those changes, I'll continue supporting this business. Service was also attentive.

We went on a Thursday night, and the restaurant was probably about 45% full, so it was busy but not overwhelming. When I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly worker. I let her know I was meeting friends, and she allowed me to go find them and take a seat. The restaurant itself was nice, clean, and had a comfortable atmosphere. Our server was also very nice and brought us menus while we waited for the rest of our group to arrive. Once everyone got there, we started with a few appetizers. We ordered the fried dumplings, popcorn chicken, and I got the kimchi soup. The soup was delicious, and the dumplings and popcorn chicken were both really good too. Honestly, I could have ordered multiple rounds of those alone, but we were there for Korean BBQ and did not want to fill up too much on starters. For our first round of meats, we ordered beef belly, bulgogi, spicy chicken, and garlic pork belly. The food came out quickly, and it arrived on a robot, which was pretty cool. All of the meats were great, but the garlic pork belly and bulgogi were definitely the standouts. For our next round, we ordered those two again along with Hawaiian steak and chicken galbi. Once again, everything was tasty. We finished our final round with more beef belly, New York steak, and miso pork belly. By the end of the meal, we were completely stuffed. To my surprise, our server noticed that one of my friends had brought me a birthday gift bag, and the staff came over and sang happy birthday to me. That was a really nice touch and made the night feel even more special. Overall, this was a good experience. The food was fresh and flavorful, the service was friendly, the restaurant was clean, and the birthday surprise was appreciated. I would definitely come back.

It's been about 4 years since the last time, I tried the food here and since I was hosting about 10 people at my home, I wanted to serve something simple and cost effective. My goto for this is Chinese food. I ordered chicken chow mein and stir fried mixed vegetables. It came in two trays and enough from probably closer to 15 people. So portions were good but the total bill was between $120-$130 about what I've come to expect here in Reno. Let's just say, I've traveled to several countries in Asia and lived most of my life in Northern CA eating quite a bit of Chinese food. This doesn't make my an expert but it would be fair to say, I am quite familiar with what is considered mainstream traditional Chinese cooking. But let's get to the food, with the caveat that I realize that everyone's preferences can vary widely when it comes to food. So my opinion is based on what one would find in Hong Kong and San Francisco. The chicken chow mein had all the correct ingredients, long noodles that were slightly thicker than say spaghetti, had the correct amount of softness without being mushy. Chicken was presented in slices and appeared to be white meat, there was some white onions thrown in there for some texture and flavor. Normally when I order chow mein, it isn't served with a brown "gravy". Not that this dish was swimming in it, but think of spaghetti with tomato sauce. Replace the red with medium dark brown and you get the picture. Now my guests who are Reno locals, thought it was great and flavorful. I would agree with the flavor part but it was much too saucy for my tastes. Would I try Chin Chin again for noodles? I'm not sure but the owner did state, they can make dishes any way I like, so perhaps I'll order off menu next time. The stir fried mixed vegetables is where I was most disappointed. Let's start with the ingredients. All were sliced in 2-3 inch pieces, which included button mushrooms, zuchinni, bamboo shoots, brocolli, carrots, and onions. This dish could have passed for a savory vegetable stew. There was a lot of gravy, so much so, that it colored all the vegetables brown, except for the carrots. The sauce had a slight "twang" to it, almost vinegar or worchester-like. Not my thing, I could not taste the individual flavors of the vegetables because of how heavy the sauce was. The brocolli was over cooked where the flowerette parts were pale. I prefer my vegetables to be just cooked, almost snappy. I would not order this dish again. No comments on the restaurant itself as both times I tried it, was for take out. So bottomline, would I try Chin Chin again? Yes but I will be very specific on how I would like my order prepared. Maybe for their lunch special.

No shield protecting her workspace and also no gloves for this one worker (wearing black in pics), and get this, as she was chopping I saw her drop a couple of mushrooms on the dirty floor.. she looked around, and hurried to pick them back up then CONTINUED TO CHOP THEM... did not throw them out or wash them but put the dropped dirty mushrooms back on her workspace/cutting board. So gross and so unsanitary!!! Come on!!! Then there's another worker (in a jean colored top). Now she wore gloves! BUT did not wear them appropriately. She wore the SAME GLOVES as she sat people down to their table, take peoples order w a paper and pen that came in and out of her pocket, to clean tables handling a dirty rag and cleaner bottle and to serve drinks as she scooped out ice and poured every one's drinks and USED THE SAME GLOVES TO HELP THE OTHER WORKER CHOP THE VEGGIES. We have family members nearby and a lot of them also say that Asian cuisine out in Reno is not necessarily the best. Not being the case I have to admit we kind of had low expectations of this restaurant. Things were a little weird when we arrived. But first, let me tell you he's at the parking lot is large and there's plenty of parking for everyone. This restaurant shares a lot with an el super market and a few other small businesses. When we entered, the gentlemen at the front seemed very flustered. There was one couple who had arrived just before us. They were there to place a to go order. Once we came in and let them know that we were going to be a party of four, the gentleman looked very confused. All of a sudden he didn't seem like he knew where to put us. There were more than enough tables. He initially was going to place in a tiny booth, but we explained that when we go out to eat that we may be a small group, but we order pretty large amounts of food and we like our table space. He got even more confused and flustered. We ordered green beans with chicken. We had pork chops with spicy salt and fried tofu with spicy salt. And because we were feeling slightly intrigued and curious, we ordered a fried eggplant with spicy salt. That fried eggplant was fantastic. It was so lightly fried, even though the batter, we weren't quite sure about because it looked a little heavy. I really like the green beans. They were still crispy and crunchy. To my liking, those were perfectly cooked. I love that. They use a lot of onion and garlic. Nothing was overly salty. The one oopsie that I experienced that was both a shock and a bit of a problem... one of the waiters came to refill my water and somehow he accidentally missed the cup and dumped about a quarter of the picture of water into my purse. Ughhhh. That part wasn't fun but luckily I keep my purse organized where everything is pretty much in pouches. So most things were protected. My wallet did get wet, but luckily it was just water and nothing else.

Traditional Vietnamese or Chinese cuisine IMO, is difficult to find here compared to the Bay Area. But that's not the fault of Reno, it's just the number of asian restaurants are so much fewer here and all the produce is literally imported. Was the noodle fresh, yes but with the cavet that it was probably imported day or two earlier. There are no local noodle makers in Reno. The dish was prepared in traditionally with a slight twist. Garlic, lots of minced garlic. Not complaining, as this is unusual for chow fun noodles to get amost a fourth of a garlic bulb worth. I ordered the mixed protein version with chicken, pork, and beef.
