The small (cup size) containers of mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, potato salad and coleslaw were only half full, if even that. Need to be FULL for the price charged for each. I didn't notice until I got home, otherwise I would have said something at the time of pick up. Fix that for me and I'll give McA's 5 stars! I was just notified this review was removed by Yelp because I was an employee. I worked for the CHAIN in 2004 in another CITY. I have never worked for this location or any location in the DFW metroplex. And I will continue to repost this review as many times as it takes. This is one of the go-to places for when my office decides to all go to lunch together, which in the past year or so has sadly not been very often. Sad that a few of my favorite menu items can no longer be found at McAlister's... like the parmesan peppercorn salad dressing. But from a little inside information I found that I was able to recreate my old favorite sandwich, the Delta Delight buy using the Sweet Peach Chipotle sauce instead of BBQ on a roast beef, turkey & jalapeno sandwich. My co-workers come here often for the white chicken chili {when they have it}, the chicken & dumplings, and Vicki will come buy their macaroni & cheese buy the quart. The chicken tortilla is still my favorite of the soups and not much else beats a Bacon Spud covered with two sides of blue cheese dressing. I recently discovered McAlister's Deli through a friend of mine and I've been averaging 2-3 lunches a week at this location. The atmosphere is inviting, the service has been friendly and attentive, and the food has been of exceptional quality. They also offer free Wifi as well. I love the "Choose Any Two" and am regularly enjoying the French Dip with a bowl of Chicken and Dumplings. Quite yummy. I tried the "Nasty Spud" which sounds dangerous, yet is a potato with sliced roast beef, brown gravy and shredded cheese on top. The "Choose Any Two" allows great combinations to try different menu items. Yes, I 1000% recommend their tea. I hear the sweet tea is great, but I get the unsweet and down about 3 of the large on each visit. It IS that good! The staff are attentive and regularly come by to check on refills. The wait time on food(which they bring to your table) has been minimal. Since I am watching my calories, their website contains all the calorie counts of their food, which is very helpful. I've found a new "permanent" spot for a quick and tasty lunch that keeps me on-plan. Highly recommended for a lunch in and out as well. read more

The service was pretty good, it was clean and the food came out pretty fast. The lady taking my order did falter when I asked for a suggestion. She really didn't have any suggestions. I was sorely disappointed by the kid's menu. There really was no good choice. Kid ended up with the nachos (to my dismay), it was literally chips and cheese. I should have known better. Instead of assuming all children are picky and won't eat healthy food more restaurants should at least have some healthy options. Yeah ok chips and cheese is vegetarian (as noted on the menu) but that sure as hell doesn't make it healthy. And people wonder why we have a problem with childhood obesity! Argh! .... ok stepping off of my soap box. Sorry. I ordered a veggie club, it was uninspiring. Loaded with fat and not a lot of veggies. What an OUTSTANDING establishment. I should have tried this place sooner. Bygones. Would of the tried an true test of any restaurant is cars in the parking lot and this place had them. The menu was easy to read and I immediately ordered the half muffuletta with the complimentary side of pasta salad. A staff member suggested adding pesto sauce to it so I agreed. This was served in a medium sized container that would have coated a plate of pasta! So good. REALLY BIG sandwich. Crispy bread and at least a pound of meat and cheese. Enough to split with someone or take home for later. Service was outstanding! If you order water you don't get punished with a thimble of water. Large glass with lemon! But they are famous for their iced tea options and I noticed everyone enjoying them. But no caffeine this late. VERY clean and organized. When I go back next week I will take photos! read more

THIS PLACE. I'd never really thought much about McAlister's until a girlfriend of mine told me ahe swore by it as a place to grade papers. So I gave it a try last spring. Lo and behold...it IS an awesome place to grade papers. The music is great, there's free WiFi, and TEA. SO MUCH AWESOME TEA. When we went on our big road trip this summer, my husband would find the McAlister's in the cities we drove through just so I could have their iced tea. Turns out they get a proprietary blend made for them by Lipton. I finally broke down and bought one of the insulated tumblers that you can get refilled for a buck when you swing by because I knew I'd be back over and over. This past week, I decided to give some of the food a try. It's quite good. It's standard deli fare with a few different items--the Big Nasty comes to mind (roast beef and cheese sandwich with gravy). My favorite thing here is the grilled chicken salad, in particular the pick 2 version. The pick 2 menu lets you choose half sizes of a salad, soup, sandwich, or baked potato from the regular menu. I love it because the portions are the perfect size, and the price point is excellent (less than $10). This location is excellent--super nice folks working. If you dine in, they will walk around and offer to refill your drink for you--so nice! The restaurant is clean, and very busy (always a good sign). I will always return here, as long as the food is still delicious and the tea flows freely! read more

Me and other co-workers go here every week for the salads and variety of sandwiches. The food is good in comparison to other similar types of establishments, like Jason's Deli, Baker Brothers, Panera, etc. Two things that could be improved in order to get more stars would be the following: 1. Have a self-service drink station so that patrons don't have to wait for the restaurant staff to come by and offer to get drink refills. 2. Better training for some of the restaurant staff. While most of the restaurant staff are very friendly and do a good job, there is one obvious area that needs improving. The staff that go around to pick up used plates and utensils to be returned to the kitchen need to do a better job of recognizing the correct time to ask patrons if we are done with our plates. During my visit on 8/21/12, I was asked if I was done with my plate many times when clearly I was not finished eating. The first time I was asked, I had a half-eaten sandwich in my hand. The second time, I still had food on my plate that I was going to eat. The third time I was asked, my friend and I needed to raise our voices so that the restaurant staffer would get the hint. These issues are not so bad that we won't come back. However it would be a better experience if these two things could improved upon. read more

I have been to several different locations and other deli shops in the area, particularly the subway around the corner, and the food quality and service was immeasurable to that of McAlister's. Lauren was the perfect example of five star customer service, she took my order with ease and precision, no mistakes, and made my Arnold Palmer just the way I like it, with the perfect ratio of lemonade to tea! She even managed to ask me about my day, I was having a particularly bad day also and she asked it in a genuine way, not scripted at all, and that turned my day around. I love McAlister's, but not this location. DO NOT ORDER TO GO. It has been wrong (missing items, wrong order) more than it has been right - more on that later. They have the laziest staff of any McAlister's. Most McAlister's will come around and ask for drink refills while you eat; this location has most of the staff standing around. While this location may be one of the busiest, it is definitely the worst. My most recent experience involved them getting the to-go order wrong as we realized when we got the order home. My wife called and got put on hold. After she called back, she said I would be on my way to pick up the correct order. When I arrived 10 minutes later, they hadn't even started correcting the order. I finally got the order after having to correct them yet again. I received little apology and no compensation for my wasted time and energy. read more

We went to McAlister's because we know they have great food and tea. That is absolutely all this location has. The service was HORRIBLE. The lady taking the order gave quite possible the worst customer service we've ever had in Dallas. When we walked up to place our order she just gradually walked up to the register before quickly asking what we wanted without making eye contact and rushing us through our order. She grabbed the debit card and tried to run it through so fast she dropped the card. We ordered one unsweet and one sweet tea. We didn't know which one she brought first and she even said she couldn't remember. We weren't handed a number so I waited around. She came back up and asked if I needed something. I asked if we needed a number and without breaking eye contact with me she simply pointed to the counter where an old number was. I was shocked she actually brought out the correct order. While we were eating it was noticeable how she was rushing everyone through their order, she messed up someone else's order, and multiple tables remained dirty. Also while we were waiting to order, I'm assuming an employee who was off the clock was telling others how she feels bad for someone in the parking lot who needed a jumpstart. I'm not sure if we will return here given this horrible service. read more

I'm from Longview, TX and that place has the best McAlister's hand down. This place is a weak comparison. The sweet tea is lacking sweet. I ordered a spud Max which is pretty much the holy grail of baked potatoes. It was barren when it came out. I had to ask for cheese, butter and sour cream. It was literally some meat in the middle of an over cooked baked potato. They were clearly understaffed today (and maybe even have an inspection of some sort?) so I gave an extra star for trying. My husband got me a chocolate chip cookie and it was pretty amazing, so another star for that. read more

Showed up and order was nowhere to be found, asked 1st cashier -she disappeared, asked 2nd cashier he was confused, and finally asked a gentleman at the register that seemed like a manager. He shouted to the kitchen looking for 1st cashier, everyone was confused, finally my order was carried out after 15-20mins of waiting. All 3 McAlisters personnel were unfriendly and seemed bothered to help. The food was badly prepared and not worth the $$, no utensils and 1 napkin in bag and cashier seemed upset to even prepare the drink that came with my order. Me and my wife were feeling salads for dinner. We both got the Savannah Chopped Salad. My wife went into the restaurant to pick up the food as we placed the order ahead. It's a Sunday evening about 5:45 pm. My wife told me the location was dirty inside and I blew it off as I thought she may have been having her high expectations. Come to find find out that our food was bagged together and sitting under the heat lamp; strange for some salads, but understandable for the soup that was with it. We get home and the lettuce looks a little less than all day fresh, some brown here and there. Then to top it all off, I look closer into my salad and found a gnat like bug cruising my lettuce like a surfer tackling the biggest wave ever. This place needs to clean up a bit and check their lettuce closer. Dressing was okay though. What sucks is when this happens after the food is brought home.
