Twas one of those "we need to eat off the dollar menu..." days of poverty, so we went to this McD's for lunch. When we walked in, I had a really weird feeling that I had been here before. No, I have not been at this location, ever. And no, it's not because all McD's are alike. It's because the dining room looked uncannily like the prison visiting area on "Arrested Development" (except no ice cream sandwiches). It also reminded me of church dining rooms for homeless people because there were some dudes whose faces were as grimey as a coal miner's sitting there eating lunch off the dollar menu like us. By the way, I've only seen a prison visitor area on "Arrested Development", various Law & Order franchises, and movies, but I have actually eaten a free meal at a church. A friend who chose to be homeless "treated" me to a free church meal down the street from my house a few years ago. The food was pretty good, but there was a controversy because Trader Joe's donated a bunch of food including a margarita mix and people got mad because they thought it had booze in it. So I'm not being a hoity-toity "ewww, I think this is how poor people eat!" priss. Anyway, the food is just like at any other McD's. They did make me wait a few minutes for my filet-o-fish. But it's ok, I plan to sue them for the hot oil that squirted out from my fried square of cod when I bit into the sandwich. (Well, not really.) One of the coal miners came by our table to ask for money to buy coffee. That's fine, but since the bathrooms are open to the public (as in no annoying buzzers or tokens!), he should probably wash his hands before handling any food for himself because his hands were insanely dirt encrusted. Despite the Arrested Development-ish, Law & Order-like environs, no hilarity ensued and the criminal justice system was not served, but I'm now a special victim with a feeling in my stomach that is considered "especially heinous." read more

Been to a lot of McDonalds, never had an unexpectedly bad experience, I mean, its McDonalds. This one though, absolutely the worst Ive been to. Have watched Supersize Me about 20 times. Apparently I haven't learned my lesson. So bad, yet so good. Came here on a Tuesday, 12pm on the dot. Construction crew outside, cat-whistling at your every move, so if you want the attention...Anyway, 12pm is probably one of its busiest hours. I was greeted with a long line with two open cash registers that I thought couldn't get any slower (hint: it did). I approached a cash register ready to order something off the bloody Dollar Menu but the employee left her post, speaking rapid Spanish. The people behind me went to the other cash register and had their orders placed before I could even grab anybody's attention. It took at least 20 minutes for me to finally order (yes, I waited that long - I still don't know why). Plus side: Food was hot. Customers were hilarious. One person literally came in just to ask for a dollar. When he saw my mean mug he backed off and left the premises. I've only got a few bucks and I'm going to spend it on a less-than-subpar burger, thanks. It's so close to me that I know I will be back when I have a craving for some "meat." Have read the Yelp reviews that the line can get lone during breakfast hours and late night hours, but hey, with food as cheap as this, when will the line ever be short? read more

So I ordered two mcChickens at the drivethrough window. That's it. I foolishly thought that such a simple order didn't need to be double checked. When I got home, I found to my surprise that I had been given an altogether different order - a double quarter pounder and fries. Which I suppose is okay, since if you're going to give me the wrong food, at least you gave me significantly pricier items. Thanks, I guess! Worst McDonald's I've been to in the world. Shady location (actual hooker sighted on the streets at night), poor service, poorly trained employees, and they don't take credit card. As an example, I went through the drive-thru yesterday morning and ordered a breakfast combo #9 with coffee. When I pulled up to the window, the TWO pissed-looking people working the single drive-thru window presented me with a combo #1 and soda. Seriously? The guy's reasoning was that he only heard me say "Combo" and not a number. I'm not sure what prompted him to NOT ask perhaps if I wanted a specific combo, or or even what drink I'd want with the combo. They looked even more pissed when they realized that they'd fucked up, didn't bother to apologize, and honestly looked expectant that I'd just take whatever they gave me. They also don't take credit card, and refused to give me a receipt for paying cash. Does a combo #9 for breakfast (McSkillet Burrito) cost somewhere between $5.50-$6 with tax? If not, they might have pocketed some extra change.. The hash brown was actually good, the breakfast burrito didn't taste bad, and the coffee was decent, but it all did result in an ugly bathroom trip after :( In summary, another McD franchisee is more deserving of your cash. read more

Now, I know this is a McDonald's. I am not expecting good service, high quality food, or a world-class dining experience. I also hate writing bad reviews, but I need to get it off of my chest. I was out running an errand last night and stopped by this location. I haven't had fast food since I moved in December, so I figured it would be a nice guilty-pleasure treat. Whoo boy was I wrong. Fries were soggy and lukewarm (went cold about 1 minute after I drove away). My Southern Style chicken sandwich was spongy/greasy and cold. I took 2 bites and ended up throwing the rest out. It was really disappointing because I was hungry and a little excited to have fast food after a 4 month hiatus. This may have been enough to turn me off from ever eating McDonald's again (it was that gross). Maybe that's a good thing? read more

Yes, this is a HOOD Mc D's. Yes, your order may not come out right. There is a guy in his late 20's - early 30's who is ALWAYS panhandling right in front of the drive through menu where people make their orders. The first time he came to my car he made up some story about needing change to get somewhere. I didn't give him change, but I didn't expect him to be there a week later when I drove through with my boyfriend. He had another story the 2nd time. He goes from one car to the other asking for change as if it were his part time job. Of course Mc D's management doesn't ask him to leave. I've learned one major lesson in ordering fast food anywhere in Oakland/Emeryville, JUST DON'T. If you're expecting quality control of your food, customer service, and concern for your general safety, it isn't going to happen in ANY FAST FOOD place you visit in the general area. Terrible service. I guess you can't come inside the store and order. You have to order at this "window" and how can we order if no one is even at the window register? 2 people behind me and I were waiting on literally no one to take our orders. Straight ridiculous. I had to shout several times through this window to get someone's attention so we can all order and they just looked and ignored. When finally the "female" cashier finally decides to show up to the window when she felt like it I ordered a MEDIUM strawberry banana smoothie and a Large cup of water. 20 minutes passed by and still my drink and cup of water is not made. So I had to ask again is my strawberry banana smoothie and water ready? She said confused "oh I thought you ordered a mango smoothie" so I corrected her and said no I paid for a MEDIUM strawberry banana smoothie and then she was like "oh ok and a cup of ice right?" NO. I paid for a Large cup of water and a medium strawberry banana smoothie, what part don't you understand? Or what language do I need to speak to you in? where does a cup of ice come from and mango smoothie? Then she comes out with a SMALL strawberry banana smoothie!!! I just left because I'm not about to keep explaining myself to a worker who clearly can't comprehend what's being said to her and be waiting another 20 minutes standing outside for the correct smoothie. How did you take my order and not even know what you charged me for? She looked disoriented as she was high of something and not capable of comprehending. This is my first and last time ever coming here. Avoid this place at all costs. This is a fun place to watch the drunk/drugged/homeless people meander in the parking lot and try to get food by walking up the drive through. The staff is pretty funny as they try desperately to be firm without being abusive. I wouldn't have that kind of patience. Came to McD's during my lunch break because I got an email for a promotion that they having stating that the Big Mac, classic chicken sandwich, fillet of fish sandwich or chicken nuggets were 2/$5. So I pulled up the drive through and proceeded to order a chicken sandwich and filet o fish sandwich. The woman taking my order says the classic chicken sandwich was not part of the promotion. I told her but it days right here on the menu. The woman taken my order says that it's not included. Irritated I ordered something else and I proceed to pull up some ratchet lady in the next line orders after me and does the most to forced her way in front of me. Like we aren't all waiting to go to the same order line. I won't be back. Ratchet employees who don't even know what the menu offers and ratchet ass customers who just have to be first even though they weren't even next. I go here weekly with a buddy as a pregame meal for my Friday hoops sessions. Why you ask? Cheap. Eats. There is nothing like being around the appetite inducing aroma of bums, prostitutes (I think), panhandlers, aspiring rappers, delivery servicemen at 9 in the morning. I've had a gentleman go through the whole asian continent guessing my ethnicity as I wait to order my Mcgriddle. He never got it right. I've seen people straight up order a combo meal, then 5 minutes later come back to the counter and claim they didn't order it and demand for a refund. Service on this place varies. One time it darn near took 20 minutes to get a cup of oatmeal. But they always give in when I ask for extra syrup for my hotcakes. So, it's a wash. If you're going cheap, good service is a bonus. Food? I honestly can't tell the difference from stuff I've ordered from this McDonalds compared to others. In all honesty, I have no desire to come back to this location of Mickey D's based on experience but my true nature always leads me to this particular joint. My dad brings me here for breakfast on the way back to Berkeley. Food is average quality. Free AT&T Wifi is great but logging in takes a while on my phone for some reason. Service is not extremely fast but tolerable. There is a 24 hour drive through but I think it was on the weekends only. I ordered 2 breakfast burritos, 1 sausage McMuffin, 2 hash browns, and a medium orange juice but the lady who I think is the morning manager charged me for 2 sausage McMuffins and did not give me picante sauce for my two burritos. The tortilla on the burritos were really crusty at the edges which I hate, but the filling is good. read more

My wife and I had a craving of McFlurry in late Friday afternoon, we went to this place which is nearby our son's day care, the hot food items there were average, I've also bought a bunch of Parfaits for kids at day care. This time it was a big mistake, we ordered the McFlurries, the lady pour the soft serve ice-cream then pour a small portion of Oreo crumbs then gave us the cups nothing stirred , nothing mix, with the lack of Oreo crumbs and no mixing, this is one of the worst McFlurry I have tasted, so if I was to rate by this alone, it will be -2 star but since they did ok-ish on hot food and parfaits, that redeemed some points back. I stop in here when I am on the road and the food is okay. The main issue we have had is homeless people standing in the drive through pan handling for food or sleeping in the parking lot. I'm surprised that Mcdonalds allows this behavior as it doesn't seem right to have homeless begging for food and McDonalds profiting from the guilt of their customers. read more

Last trip, the girl working the pay window was actually eating with one hand and attempting to get my change from the cash drawer with her free hand. Shit like this probably contributes to the long drive thru lines.
