1 star for the location & rusticity cool exterior. 1 star for the quality of the food. It's comparable to the best locations I've been to throughout the world...although that's not saying much. -1 star for the ÜBER INFLATED PRICES. It cost us nearly $57.00 for 15 hamburgers, and 10 large fries. Their "dollar" menu has an average price of $2.50 per item. They don't offer the normal $1.00 any size beverage like most locations do. -1 star for the crowds. I know it's not the location's fault, but it is a downside for people to keep in mind (as if people seek out wisdom and insight before pulling into a McDonald's parking lot). There aren't many quick food choices in town, so the result is overcrowded wait times to order, sit, and even to use the restroom. -1 star because there was no visible protection for customers from the very eminent danger of bear attacks. There were several bear boxes for trash (bear proof metal containers with inner latches that bears supposedly can't open). Get some armed guards. Don't you know that bears are deadly???? My family visited this McDonald's located at West Yellowstone and this place was really busy Prices are high which we all know this is Yellowstone National Park so expect the high prices before coming so you can plan ahead for food options around town. Now let's talk about our food order my french fries were really salty and didn't eat much of them. My sister's french fries had a dead bug in them and the manager was in shock when I showed the bug to her she gave us a refund for our food order. There is limited seating inside of McDonald's and some seating outside. The staff here are nice and pleasant but need to listen to food orders before giving the wrong food orders or messed up orders to the customer before or after customer who ordered. Yes some of the staff are foreign exchange students who come here to work then go home when it's their time to go home. When we order they spoke pretty good english. Over all experience is good except the bug in the fries and slow wait times and messed up food order but things like this happens from time to time no matter where your at. read more

Honestly, as far as McDonald's go this place is top notch in my opinion. Thing is you're in the middle of nowhere, and it's a tourist town, so you have to realize some things. It's almost ALWAYS busy, and yet I've never once had my order wrong. The employees are nice and cordial and clearly work their butts off serving what I can only imagine to be hundreds of customers per day. Sure they don't offer all the specialty or limited items. And yeah sometimes the slushee or ice cream machine is on the fritz, but I'll be darned if my order isn't always ready in six minutes or less. Even when I customize my order on the touch screen kiosk they always deliver it in a timely manor with little to no mistakes. Even if you're like me and order a milkshake or ice cream which can sometimes take longer to make, they always get it to me before long and are happy to do so. I couldn't be more satisfied with my fast food experiences at this restaurant, I wish all the employees the best! read more

I'm going to buck the trend of 1-2 stars, just because (a) it's NOT that bad, (b) hellew -- you're in a tiny town of maybe 1,100 people on a good day, (c) they're 2+ hours from any major highway or supply route, and figure that big rig bringing in your Big Macs isn't running a charity, and (d) the place was on par with other McDonald's. Yes, it's pricey -- I think my go-to #10 was $8.49, a solid $2-3 more than usual (depending on where I go in town). But note: "in town," where said town is perched along an Interstate, nor a local road accessed by a US highway and the interstate 107 miles away. And it's a boring drive -- just did it, in the dark, Boooooring. But not their fault. Heck, I was just delighted they were open. And had restrooms that flush (hard to find inside Yellowstone). And thrilled they were even open; it was getting later, they do shut down for the season (and why not -- their entrance to the park closes for winter, apparently it snows here). Heck, probably part of why the prices are higher -- they're not able to pay the rent for ~3 months a year. If you want to eat local, go for it. When the sun sets, though, and it's off-season, you go with what's open... and what the toddler is going to willingly eat without a scene. read more

Came out of Yellowstone, hungry, thirsty and tired. The sight of the Golden Arch was a Yellowstone of its own. Amazing, beautiful and fulfilling. The burgers A+, the fries A+, but the soda -- the best I've ever had a McDonalds! About a mile after leaving, my friend and I returned for one more glass of goodness -- knowing we would never get soda that good again. This location will be salvation to your hunger when you head out early or return late from Yellowstone. It's open from 5am till midnight. Most places in town close by 10pm. Let's cut the bs out, it's mcdonalds food. So it's not amazing. You're at a tourist destination so you're paying a premium where ever you eat in town. If that's a problem, then make your own food. The only way you can rate McDonald's is by the number of f-ups. The food was hot. Staff didn't screw up the order. Place was fairly clean for being after 10pm for a busy summer peak season with drive thru wrapping around the lot. The girl wiping down the tables had a smile on her face. I didn't step on piss in the men's room. Minimal f-ups detected. What more can you ask for from McDonald's? read more

Holy crap this place was packed, slow, and small. We drove over and headed for a quick bite after the snow began to fall on the family in Yellowstone. So we got to the hotel and my daughter and I went over to grab some food. We decided to walk in as the drive in was packed and it was not moving. At least we could stand in warmth. Well we got in and it was chaos. 20 minutes before they could take our order, then another 15 for the food. I have never been in a mcdonalds that was soooo slow. The fries were even cold. So they made a ton of fries, tossed them in a warmer and bags waiting for the rest to get done. It was kind of disheartening. There was no room for us to sit that made things any better. We had to stand in the small inside. Pros: They had food on a cold day. Cons: Slow, small, not well prepared. read more

Was turned away from the drive through - 20 minutes before closing because "the drive through line was too long and they were closing at 10pm". The next day we returned and discovered the same female manager who turned us away the night before working the window. She wasn't wearing a mask or gloves while handling each transaction. The person filling the drinks wasn't wearing gloves either and I watched as he touched the bottom of each lid while putting them in the cups. They will not honor their own App coupons. I had a valid $2 off $10 or more, and was spending $28. Drive through was open. Lobby is not open. The lady taking my order at the drive thru was literally the sweetest lady I ever talked to. Even when I pulled up to pay her, she went on to compliment my vehicle. I made sure to compliment on how kind and friendly she sounded when ordering food from her. I hope it made her day and motivates her to continue to do what she's doing and how she's doing it. We need more personalities like her in the food industry. Talk about a rip off. Prices here are higher than what I paid at the Staples Center McDonalds in LA. Two kids happy meals, 10 piece nuggets, small fry and a big mac combo ran $27 plus change. The worker told me their prices were higher because this is a tourist town. So for these high prices, how about the service? Well, they were out of toys for the happy meals. Then they were out of lemonade. I asked for them to sub their frozen lemonade in their place. This was not possible. They insisted I pay full price for the happy meal (that includes the drink) and pay full price for the frozen lemonades. The manager got involved, and was really rude. She said their truck was late. Well for all the money you are making from ripping off tourists, perhaps you can hire a better trucking company. I have been told, from a world traveler, that this place is actually more expensive then the McDonald's in Tokyo, and there is now really good reason for it. Besides the price being so bad, I can think of no reason to eat here. It's small, old, and has a limited menu. There plenty of local places in this town to eat at instead, all of which would be a better bang for the buck, and leave a better experience. I don't know why all of the low ratings on yelp for this McDonald's. I know it's McDonald's but still it seems to have some low ratings. Let's go over some of the issues others have brought up. First the prices. It's west Yellowstone, what do you expect? Everything in this city is overpriced. And this includes McDonald's. Have you looked at flies for fishing? They run three times what they would in a normal city. So the surcharge is understandable. Next up are the employees. I see a lot of comments about how they don't speak English. West Yellowstone is full of foreign exchange students during the summer. The students come from all over the world and English is not their first language. They do their best to communicate and I did not have any problems communicating with them. They never got our order wrong, they were never rude with us and were always friendly. Overall I give this McDonald's three stars. Why? Because it's McDonald's and McDonald's is always three stars even on a good day. read more

This location would get four stars if it was par with other Mc Donald's locations but it is way too small for its location. I came in one morning around 9 and it was so crowded people were standing outside waiting to get in the doors. It was really chaotic inside because you couldn't tell who was waiting to place their order and who was waiting for their food. There weren't enough tables to sit and eat.
