I love how clean and open this restaurant is. The simple and modern decor works very well for this place. There's plenty of seats and even more parking. We came on a Saturday at prime dinner time and while there was a lot of people, there was no wait. Their knife cut noodle in spicy chicken broth ($17.99) is good and their bibimbap ($19.99) is also good, but for no meat it was expensice for what it is. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything you order here. They give you red and white kimchi for your banchan and I prefer the white over the red one. Prices are average compared to other places. Service is friendly. Great place to come for really good Korean knife cut and cold noodles!
This is a huge restaurant, very clean and openly spaced. We were done eating so much Disneyland food and wanted some real warm food so we ordered Bulgogi and the cold vinegar noodles which was so yummy and some dumplings which my son devoured too bad we don't have any pictures of the food, but I do have pictures of the sides and the table. I love that they have a secret compartment for utensils and napkins.
I went to the MDK in Irvine when I was younger before it closed down! Was craving the garlicky, spicy kimchi and mild, slightly nutty soybean noodles kkongguksu. I was so happy to find that this location was open! They had plenty of seating but it does still fill up during peak lunch hours around 1-2PM but wait is never long - I beat the line and was seated immediately but afterwards a wave of families came, probably after Sunday church service! Very clean and organized space where lots of families come to eat and chat. The noodles and kimchi were exactly as I remembered, chewy noodles and fresh, fragrant kimchi, and I also got some pork dumplings. They were so juicy and stuffed with meat and so good with the kimchi to cut the richness. I preferred to pair the dumplings with kimchi over the soy sauce because the soy sauce made it too salty. We got the seafood pancakes and they were very tasty with the sweet green onions and plenty of squid, mussels, etc. Very happy to see they're still doing well after over a decade.
A friend recommended this spot for good Korean noodles! Some friends and I arrived for dinner on a Saturday around 5:00. It wasn't crowded at all, and we were seated immediately. By the time we left around 6:30, the restaurant was a lot more full. I ordered the Cold Kimchi Green Chlorella Noodle Soup. The noodles are a vibrant green color! There is also cucumber, kimchi, egg, and red onions in it. The noodles are pretty long, so they give you a pair of scissors to cut them. The flavor isn't too strong, so you can add your own sauce condiments provided on the table if you'd like a little more flavor. Overall, this is a very refreshing dish! I tried some of the Knife Cut Noodles in Chicken Broth as well. In contrast, this is a very hot dish (and stays hot throughout the meal)! They give a dish of kimchi to each person and non-spicy kimchi for each two people. The regular kimchi is on the spicier side. There is ground chicken on top, along with dumplings and some vegetables. This noodle soup was very comforting! They also have a Cold Soybean Green Chlorella Noodles Soup that I'm definitely going to try the next time I come!
We first had MDK Noodle in South Korea, Myeong Dong, the M and the D to MDK. We loved it there and we definitely loved it here!! There were much more varieties here in the US but we tried to stick with what we got in Korea to have a comparison. The knife cut noodle in broth soup was pretty standard and tasted great. Our table also got the spicy version of this, which i liked a bit more. The pork dumplings were surprisingly better here in the US. Probably the way they steamed it. The cold noodles was the tricky one. I didn't see this many selection in Korea, but there were several cold cut spicy noodles and variants here. Wow...so we went with a dish with green noodle and spicy sauce, i think its the arrowroot in spicy sauce without any addons. Either way, it tasted great. Service was quick and to the point. A simple restaurant with simple decor. They say a lot more through their food.

Came for dinner and the place was popping. I'm assuming a lot of people that come here know exactly what menu item they wanted because the staff kept coming back to take our orders immediately haha I wanted some dry noodles so I opted for the Spicy Chewy Noodle. I've never had this dish before so I was surprised when my first bite was cold. Very refreshing! I would say that the noodles got me full from a couple bites, overall it was pretty spicy. I'm not sure if there were deeper flavors than that though. This may be controversial but I wasn't a fan of the kimchi. It was very bitter to me. I did like the other pickled cabbages served to us, very refreshing. A nice touch though is that on the side of the tables, there's a drawer for utensils and napkins! Never seen that before! Do wish the staff would've told us initially beforehand because we were confused where they were. Since I love Korean food, I would wanna come here again to try the other menu items, perhaps other dishes would be more suited for my taste.
MDK is a big let down of a restaurant. the food was very underwhelming and for the same price, there are plenty of other quality restaurants ~Food~ pork dumplings 6/10 pork was a bit smelly and chewy knife cut noodle in spicy broth 8/10 noodles were overcooked but broth was flavorful and spicy cold noodles 5/10 very basic cold noodles, underwhelming ~Service: 7/10 quick but not very friendly ~Cost: $17.99 per entree ~Parking: plenty of plaza parking available
When I'm craving hot noodles, this is my go to place. I love their noodles in chicken broth. I've tried the spicy one but I like the original better. I've also tried some of their other dishes. Some were good and some were a miss. dongchimi with white noodles was good. It normally comes with green noodles but got it replaced with white noodles. It's refreshing and tasty. I did not like the spicy nengmyun. The best thing here is the kimchi that they give. There are white and the red kimchi and both are super good. There is someone going around just to refill kimchi for ppl. They remodeled so the place looks more open and bright. There's a good number of tables but when we went on a Sunday early afternoon the tables filled up.
Mdk has the same restaurant name as the 50+ kalguksu restaurant in Korea. Affiliated? Not sure, but the food tastes the same, and dare I say, better. Kalguksu is their signature dish. A single bowl is super filling. You get homemade kalguksu noodles with bits of meat toppings and mandu (dumplings). I though the mandu was better here because there is more filling inside than the ones in Korea. The kimchi is identical to ones they had in the Korean stores.
One of the best parts of this visit was the service. The staff were very quick and friendly, which definitely deserves high praise. However, compared to before, the food portion and taste didn't seem to improve. Since the broth was chicken-based, it had a slight chicken smell that I didn't really enjoy. Also, the noodles were not handmade, and the extra $5 charge felt too expensive. After finishing the meal, the portion still felt a bit small, which was disappointing. In the end, restaurants that serve generous portions tend to do well, and I wish this place would consider that. At least they gave a small bowl of rice for free, which made me feel a little less hungry.
It was warmer when we wanted to grab lunch and what better way to beat the heat than ordering cold noodles. It was my second time ever having cold noodles and this was so good and hit the spot. Their dumplings are so fresh and packed with so much meat and have a thin wrapper. You know this place is good when you see Korean people eating here alone during lunch. I heard that MDK noodles is as close as you can get to authentic kalguksu in the states. There is plenty of seating inside so even though I came on a Sunday during dinner I was seated right away. The server brought over complimentary plates of red and white kimchi as soon as we were seated. The red kimchi is very garlicky and fresh; just like how I like it. The white kimchi wasn't too vinegary and very lightly pickled. I like the variety and it's a nice break between bites of your main entree. I got the kalguksu with anchovy broth which came with lots of wood ear mushrooms, some slices and carrots, zucchini, and onion. It's a huge bowl of noodles and will definitely fill you up. The broth so so thick but subtly sweet and savory. I didn't try the kalguksu in spicy chicken broth but I believe it comes with ground beef on top. The pork bulgogi had a lot of onions in it (like half of the dish) so beware if aren't the biggest fan of onions. There was always a server walking around with a cart to refill your water or kimchi at all times. I would love to come back to give the cold noodles a try! read more

Location: My dad said this was a popular Kalguksu (knife cut noodles) restaurant that opened a new location near us. It's in a bit of a dead plaza but still pretty easy to find. It wasnt crowded, even on a weekend night, so we were immediately seated. Service: Good service with attentive staff who helped us quickly whenever we called them over. Food: The food was overall great and met exactly what we were expecting. The cold noodles were very refreshing. My favorite dish was their kalguksu which had very chewy noodles. They make their dumplings in house so the dumplings were also great, my favorite one being their shrimp and pork. Thin, chewy skin! They are also known for their kimchi, which they sell larger batches of. It was very fresh and paired so well with everything. I wish I could take the leftover complimentary kimchi home, but understandably, you aren't allowed to (since they sell it separately). They still happily refill the kimchi while you are eating, though. read more
Pretty spacious restaurant. Service is very friendly and welcoming and the ladies are constantly going around checking for water and kimchi refills. The kimchi is amazing by the way! My favorite dumpling place! I always come here for their rice cake dumpling soup. This place is well known in Korea bc I believe it has a Michelin star. This place was recently remodeled and it looks great outside and inside. Before the plaza was really ghetto but now I feel safer coming here. Once you come here you'll be back for more. We have been to the MDK in Korea which was amazing. We had no idea they had started to open some stores here in California! We came here post easter mass and we had made right before the rush. We got the kalguksu and the spicy cold noodles. The spicy cold noodles was so good, it was sweet tangy and spicy. The kalguksu was also super good but its not the same as Korea. The restaurant is pretty big and spacious also super clean. We will definitely be back to eat the rest of their dishes! read more
So delicious as always! Love that they give you 3 plates of kimchi banchan: one white kimchi, one garlic kimchi and one EXTRA garlicky kimchi. It was so fricking good that we bought a 32oz jar for $17. They also sell a half gallon jar of kimchi for $34. Came on a Sunday lunch and they were very efficient: there was someone walking around with a dolly to disperse water and banchan every 10mins. Tons of tables inside so no wait at all. This restaurant is located next to Seafood City, so there's ample parking. It's somewhat difficult to spot this restaurant. We joke that this restaurant looks like the outside of an H&R Block lol. This was our second visit. We are IN LOVE with the kimchi here!! We kept asking for more plates of it. I ended up buying a jar of it. I ordered the dumpling soup, which was okay. My date ordered the cold noodle soup, which was soooo delicious. Service was great. The food came out fast and the server came back and checked on us throughout our meal. In terms of ambiance, it's not a very cute spot, but it's certainly delicious. We'll be back! read more
We came on a Sunday morning and there was no wait. The kalguksu was pretty similar to what I had in Korea. The bowl of noodles came out piping hot. The noodles were soft and the portion was pretty big. The dumplings however tasted like frozen dumplings. They also give spicy kimchi and non-spicy kimchi. The spicy kimchi was so good but also so spicy. I would definitely be back again! read more

Food is delicious! I love the pork dumplings, theyre so chewy and flavorful. The noodles were both great, the naengmyeon was better than the kalguksu in my opinion. The sweet pear pairs well with the cold noodles. The kalguksu broth is delicious and hearty. Only complaints are that both noodles didnt come with much protein compared to noodles ratio. Service was great, super attentive and friendly. Speedy!! The inside is spacious and has tons of tables. Everything looks clean and well maintained. Only thing is the outside of the store looks intimidating and the plaza its located in doesnt feel very popular. read more

We keep coming back for their incredibly addicting garlicky kimchi! We usually stick with the kalguksu noodle soup, which is always comforting, but on a recent hot day, we tried the cold soybean noodle soup. It was refreshing and surprisingly filling. Since it's on the blander side, it pairs perfectly with their kimchi. We also had the bulgogi hot stone bibimbap. The sizzling stone bowl gives it that great crispy rice texture, and the extra sesame oil on the side is a plus. The aunties who run the place are warm, attentive, and quick to offer kimchi refills. read more

I came on a Sunday afternoon with a large party and it was busy as there weren't many workers to customers ratio. Luckily we were seated right away. It is nice, spacious, and renovated inside. There's also plenty of parking outside. -I got to try a little bit of everything the pork dumplings were thick with filling and delicious. -The hot stone bulgogi bibimbab was mostly veggies and not flavorful even after adding the sauces they provided. -The pan fried dumplings were crunchy not much flavor. -The black bean rice cake with added noodles the rice cake had a great texture but again flavorless. -The pork bulgogi was so soft, mushy, and so oily that's all I could taste. -Mixed spicy arrowroot noodles were just okay not memorable. -My favorite thing besides the pork dumplings was the kimchi it was amazing refreshing and delicious. They give you free refills I ate 2-3 trays. Each refill will tastes different though I'm assuming it's different batches of kimchi. The only thing that saved any of the dishes was being able to add their kimchi to the top. If I came back I would only come for the kimchi because everything else is too over priced to be ok/underwhelming in taste. Tip the utensils and napkins were neatly tucked in a compartment underneath the table! read more
When I came previously, this place has a cozy and rustic vibe. This time it felt like I was in a food court. The service was fast and the food was decent. My biggest complaint was the limited menu. The menu listed a decent number noodle dishes, but it's all essentially the same dish because it's just the non-spicy and spicy version. I would have loved to see more options like noodles with other meats or seafood options. That said, the food here is pretty authentic, from the knife cut noodles to the side dishes to the house made kimchi. The food was tasty, but it just felt like I'm eating the same thing although we got three different items to share. read more
I am very familiar with mdk noodle in LA, but this was my first time at the anaheim location and it did not disappoint! The restaurant is spacious and has plentiful tables. AC was strong which was nice on a hot summer day. Service is quick. For some reason they didnt give us kimchi until we asked for it but make sure to get it because it really adds to the meal! The portions are pretty large, so my friend and I got one kalguksu and got a sari (smaller portion) of the kalguksu for only $5. Definitely recommend doing this if you don't think you can finish an entire bowl of kalguksu on your own or want to try different things on the menu. The service was great :) I'm not sure who was working today, but the man in front was super attentive to us. The food was not our favorite. In the nicest way, it was a bit bland. The kimchi pancake didn't have kimchi flavor. The kalguksu was fine, but I definitely should've gotten the spicy one or maybe the anchovy broth. Mandu was pretty yummy. The kimchi banchan they give out is SO good though. I can see why they sell it by the jar. I'd come again, but would order different dishes. read more
We got the fried dumpling and kalguksu. Nice combo. Big serving. If you're not a big eater, definitely will fill 2 stomach up. Kalguksu is delicious. Savory and noodles not too soggy. They offer extra soup after noticing that my soup almost ran out. Attentive and super nice staff. Fried dumpling is tiny but yummy. Dip with soy vinegar sauce to amp up the flavor. Their fresh kimchi is very delicious. No wonder they offer for you to buy by the jar. White kimchi is delicious too, but the red one is where it's at. Located in the seafood city plaza. Looks kinda whacky with no businesses around, but this place is legit. Big place inside and they do have quite a bit of customers at lunch rush. read more

PROS: - The parking lot here is HUGE! - The space inside is HUGE! - The knife cut noodles here are fantastic. The noodles are slightly chewy, broth is hearty, and a good portion of noodles. - The dumplings here are very delicious! - The real STAR here is their KIMCHEE. OMG. Literally the best kimchee I've ever had. You can even purchase bottles of it if you want. - Our server was fantastic and checked on us consistently. CONS: - None. read more

Newley renovated with more seat but I am sad that they took away the booth as it was better seating option for my toddler. Inside the new setting reminds me of food court as it's very casual with open space. Service is better than before as they are more friendly and attentive. I think the servers here work hard as they are multi-tasking and they are good at it. I think operation and team coordination is good here as despite how busy they are, they give you good service I love their kimchi, knife cut noodle, and dumplings! read more
Came here and had to wait awhile since it was so busy, but it was worth the wait since the food was so good. We ordered the Hot Stone Bulgogi Bibimbap, Dumpling Soup and the Hot Stone Bibimbap. It's been a while since I've been to Myung Dong Kyoga and it saddens me to say that their quality has significantly fallen. The interior looks great and is very clean. I got the chicken kalguksu and it was lacking in so many aspects. Soup was bland and the noodles were so over cooked. Good kalguksu should have noodles with a good chew and an al dente texture. The noodles I had were extremely mushy. Dumplings were tiny with hardly any filling. There's definitely better places in OC for kalguksu. read more
A standard place to visit if you're craving kalguksu or cold noodles, but overall just average quality. I was here on a Saturday night with party of 2 and got seated immediately. We ordered the knife cut chicken kalguksu, pork dumplings, and the spicy naengmyeon. The kalguksu broth was light but not very flavorful. The naengmyeon was way too salty that I couldn't enjoy the dish. Pork dumplings was the only dish I would reorder. read more

Was fairly busy Sunday for an early lunch 11AM, my sister and I both got the chicken kalguksu. Huge portions for $17 and tons of parking. Tastes pretty similar to the one in Korea but the mandu in the soup wasn't very soft read more

Do they sell frozen dumplings?
No unfortunately we do not. All dumplings are made fresh daily, and because of the thin nature of the skin of our dumplings we do not freeze it. We apologize for the inconvenience!
When are the cold noodles available?
Hi, all the cold noodles are available except soy bean noodles which we will bring back in the spring :)
Is the kimchi still the same after the ownership/name change?
Hi! The kimchi is the same :). I took over from my father because he is getting older, but food is the same.
Do they have any gluten free options?
They have vegetarian bibimbap (traditional korean dish made of vegetables and rice), beef bulgogi and pork bulgogi, rice cake soup, and any of the dishes that contain chlorella noodles as they are naturally gluten free.
What are your thoughts about the vegetarian noodles options?
They have seafood noodles.
