The place has so much potential to be great but it just kept going downhill the entire time. Positives: The food was decent. The brunch is fairly priced. You don't really find deals like $35 steak and bottomless cocktails in Dallas anymore. Negatives: The manager, Brian, is a major negative. I'm sure he expects this review. He needs to work on his customer service skills and delivery. During my dining experience, the waitress spilled a tray of drinks on me. I understand accidents happen. She apologized many times and I understood. The manager saw this whole thing happen. Do you think he came and address the situation? NOPE! Not immediately at least. It wasn't until after I jokingly asked the waitress that spilled the drinks on me would she cover my meal for the inconvenience. That seems reasonable. I guess she tells Brian who then approaches my table in a snarky manner and says, "I was going to already cover your meal before you even asked our waitress. I saw the whole thing happen." If that's the case, as a manager you should've addressed your patron immediately not after you have a side conversation with your staff. Especially if you allegedly saw the whole mishap happen. Don't try to scold your guests who are paying. I didn't need the discount. I fully expected to pay $35 for brunch. I didn't come to your establishment expecting to get 4 cocktails spilled on me. Do better, BrIan or leave the restaurant because YOU are the problem. Our waitress (not going to mention her name because my true gripe isn't with her), she's a part of the problem too. Well before spilling the drinks, her attitude and customer service was off. I understand people have bad days but please don't take it out on your customers. She would wait long periods of time to even come check on us. Each time she came to the table, we had to stop her and ask for assistance. That was met with rolled eyes, drinks slammed on the table, and if I'm being honest, the eventual spilling of the drinks. I could go on and on about this experience. But I would recommend the restaurant, just go with caution. Hopefully they bring in new and better staff. Honestly maybe just better management and it'll probably run better. Our reservation was a little backed up along with several other parties so unfortunately we had to wait in the middle of the restaurant awkwardly standing as there isn't any designated waiting area. While we were waiting, some lady, who had only had one drink, passed out onto the floor. You choose your steak temperature, order any drinks you want, and that's it. Warm bread sets the stage, followed by a salad, and the main course of steak and French fries. The steak was thin, tender, and well-cooked. The fries were crunchy and salty. And the steak sauce was delicious and rich. They also come around with a free second helping of both fries and steak, so get your appetite ready. Overall the food was great. The atmosphere was pretty lit and rather hectic. But the service was an A+. And for the set price of $31.95 per person for all the food (plus we ordered a $40 bottle of wine), I'd love to go back. read more

I've been to the original location in Cleveland Park DC, the Capital Hill location and now the Dallas location and I can honestly say that Medium Rare doesn't miss. They are nothing but consistent, which is great because when you have a limited menu the least you can do is knock it out the park every time, and that is certainly what they do. The meat (first one - was well done, second one - too raw) was not flavorable. The timing of the arrival of the food was ok - the plate of meat showing up in the middle of still consuming the salads. 2/5 decor a homeless person walked through the porch and interior going up to tables asking for money. Management did nothing. Am I 4? They wrote the order on the table that they covered with butcher paper?! They hung Christmas lights vertically, like they do in dorm rooms. We made a reservation and were sat as soon as we got there. The issue was we sat there for about 10 minutes before anyone came to take our drink order. My cup has some kind of debris in the bottom and I was put off by that. The salad was good. The dressing was different but good. The bread was fantastic! A bit crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The steak was cooked well and seasoned ok. There was a sauce that I didn't really care for flavor wise. French fries were seasoned well and cooked fine. The restaurant was nice and clean. The music was a bit loud for my taste. Came for the first time since I saw this place on tic tok, the ambiance was nice but definitely crowded, you are super close to the table next to you so it doesn't make for an intimate setting. My husband and I definitely enjoyed the bartender Ortiz he made our long wait endurable. The salad was ok it needed more dressing, bread was good, steak was a little tough to chew so I didn't like that, fries were overcooked and not hot, sauce was ok. This was our first visit and we will be sure to return. I love the concept of a single entre that we love to eat - steak. The delicious in-house baked bread was served warm with plenty of butter and it accompanied a nice sized salad with a house dressing. The steak was tasty, tender, pre-sliced, about 5 oz. with a brown gravy. Frittes were hot out of the fryer, nice and thin. The big surprise was that seconds of frittes and steak were offered, so of course we accepted. Our waitress, Vanessa was pleasant and very accommodating. I was greeted by a nice gentleman who offered to take my picture and I late discovered he was the manager and he showed me to my seat and was so kind and humble and even told me about brunch so I definitely be back. My waitress was kind and explained to me the menu and process and made sure I had everything I needed. The atmosphere was beautiful and the music was a nice mix. Lady the food the salad was simple and tasty, bread freshly baked and the real butter melted perfectly and last the star the steak frites both cooked perfect and the second serving even better. I really was excited when a friend told me about this place. The website photos looked really good ... but website photos always make food look good, or they wouldn't be posted (you would think). Not a date place, because the tables are damn-near on top of each other. I ended up having a wonderful conversation with the woman at the next table over, because she was closer than my friend across the table and much easier to hear (plus, she and her husband were joking about the tight quarters, too). When we arrived, the server came over right away and explained the concept: there's one thing -- steak frites -- on the menu, and the only decision to be made is how well done you want your steak cooked. She asked what we wanted to drink, and because it was hotter than the surface of the sun outside, we asked for ice water while deciding on a cocktail. Ice water took nearly 15 minutes, and arrived only after my friend caught the server's eye and held up a glass ... twice. We then placed cocktail orders and received them much more quickly (more profit when alcohol is involved) ... and the cocktails were terrific. The steak frites arrived and was ... OK. The actual meat is pretty good, but the sauce on top is awful, and the fries are badly over-salted and incredibly greasy. Also, the serving size is small. If you wait around long enough after finishing, they'll bring another (smaller) round of the steak, and it's better because the sauce is on the side this time, and can be skipped. But you will wait a while, because they're hoping you leave. The price is fixed, so their profits go down when you get seconds ... and no, thirds are not offered. The promised bread didn't arrive until after our second round arrived, and only after we asked for the third time (as it turns out, we shouldn't have pursued it so relentlessly, because the bread is as tasty as a months-old kitchen sponge). I have dinner with this same friend about once a month, and we hung out last night, so I asked his thoughts on Medium Rare -- he said "it was OK." We have a rotation of places we like, and agreed that MR will not be added to it. We agreed that we would go back if someone was eager to try it, but not otherwise ... and if we do go back, it will be with vastly lower expectations than the first time around. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed a perfectly grilled portobello mushroom. This vegan option should be on the menu and made known. It's great to have this option available and they would draw customers who have a vegan or vegetarian in the group and are choosing their dining options accordingly. Service was engaging and truly added to the experience. A nice atmosphere and adjacent parking are additional advantages. I don't know why they chose to open in Dallas in one of the most competitive submarkets. This concept could print money in certain suburban locations. Another market adjustment would be to expand the spirit selection and put together a cocktail menu. Looking forward to a return visit. read more

The food was absolutely amazing and the restaurant is gorgeous. I love the place but our server Laryn S was alright. I would have expected excellent service from a restaurant that is so highly regarded. The server was doing the bare minimum and seemed to attend to all the others around me and did not come by my table often. She was not rude, but for it being my first time and my girlfriend's first time I would have expected excellent service.
