I used to always drive up north for my board games fix, so having a tabletop store in West Seattle is so awesome! There is off-street parking available that is accessed through an alleyway, however the entrance can be easily missed if there are cars parked along the street, so just be on the lookout. The store itself is located upstairs and it is absolutely fantastic! The games are organised by gameplay style thus making your search more easy and straightforward. The staff are also very friendly and knowledgable, and I always have a great convo with them each time I come in. Among the store also lies a library of games that you can try out before purchasing and a small cafe where you can order beer, wine, coffee, tea, and small snacks. If you're a board game or card-playing nut, DEF make this store one of your destinations! You won't regret it :D read more

I visited Meeples for the first time for a board game Meetup. We adored it! The staff recommended and provided games that might be appropriate for our group, plus we brought our own games to play. There was a full menu, including coffee and beer, and the service was extremely friendly. We were allowed to reserve a table in advance at no charge, but there were plenty of tables available that Sunday early afternoon. If you live south of Downtown Seattle and are considering Cafe Mox versus another gaming cafe, I highly recommend giving Meeples a try. read more

A great place to take a couple of friends to play a game! There's a ton of great games, products and food/drink (beer & wine) options and the staff are all super friendly and knowledgeable! They even have an entire wall of games that you're able to check out (library style, free of charge) and play in-house for as long as you want. This place is absolutely phenomenal. I would suggest the bbq impossible burger or any impossible burger for that matter. I love how they do not drown it with tons of sauce like other places do, they don't ruin the flavor or taste. I love coming here for the atmosphere and games too. Wow a friendly game shop and great food! It's almost too good to be true! I ended up stopping in here after an interview in Seattle before my flight because there isn't really a place like this in Boston that doesn't have a cover. That's the first thing that impressed me. I was allowed to check out a game without giving anything in return which is a great trust system. The staff was also friendly and really helped me choose a board game to try. They don't have every game ever to try but they do have a decent size collection - more than any place around me in Boston for sure. The system used here is also great because the money that I didn't spend on a cover still got spent on food! And this place has surprisingly good food! I say surprisingly because I saw that the games were the focus of this place so I assumed the food wouldn't be as good. Glad to be wrong! The Brie, Apple, Pesto pizza I got was delicious and the amount of food was just over the amount you would need for a full meal. And it wasn't expensive either - only $10 for an entire flatbread! I wasn't able to try anything else but I definitely recommend this option. Finally the vibe of this place is nice, but not ideal for me. There is a game shop in the front and a cafe/tables to play games in the back. The back place is a little bit small, but I never felt pressured to leave despite being the only person at my table. There were definitely more kids than I expected. The kids themselves didn't bother me, but because the tables were so close together I felt like there was no sense of privacy. For that reason, I probably wouldn't come here on a date night or something of that nature. But ultimately this is a really neat place! I came in here with my family, and we didn't realize that three hours had passed playing a new game. It was fantastic! Staff is knowledgeable and helpful, the food is great and varied (including gluten free). Get there early if you're going for the evening. I literally live just a few blocks away from meeples so it's super convenient to come here. They have fantastic business, and everything for the avid game player. You'll more than likely enjoy your time here! Pros: - Are you buying or playing via the library there?Selections of board games range from super simple easy-to-play to cooperative, situational strategy, and complex mechanics. You get the full dose of everything here! - You can buy board games, magic cards, Pokemon cards, card cases/covers, expansions, almost everything that a gamer needs! - You can make reservations for a guaranteed table if you want to spend a few hours with your friends playing a great board game. - On certain days you can enter competitions and certain events where they have a theme of board games out to play such as "Zombie Night" - Bathrooms are well kept and there are 2 available. - DON'T BRING OUTSIDE FOOD AND DRINKS! They make money off of the inside cafe they have there! If you're staying for a long time playing a board game you should be courteous and buy something to support their business. Cons: Not many! - If you come in large groups over 4 it's harder to find seating because it gets crowded easily. - It does get loud at times so make sure you're comfortable with that environment. read more

Ok...I admit it...I'm a total board game nut! To be honest, I'm not sure who would not enjoy this place. Plenty of parking - free for 90 min in lot but I'm told there's plenty of street parking for those who want to stay a while. Trust...if you like board games, you'll likely stay a while. We came in to buy Sushi Go and ended up staying for 5 hours. This is the kind of place I only dreamed of existing when I was in high school! A spacious, well kept place with plenty of seating, some delicious looking food (I mean really...a brie, apple pesto sandwich? SOLD), tons of free board games to try, AND open late! My friends and I constantly debated where we would hang out when we wanted to continue the fun but our parents never wanted to let people over...saying the house wasn't clean enough or other such nonsense. Not to say that this place is not for the adults with their selection of beers and ciders on tap! Next time, I will have to try a "Not Your Fathers Root Beer"! While you're at it, why not check out the game "Coconuts" just for fun? :) They also have a membership program that will give you a credit once you buy enough merchandise supposedly totaling a 5% savings if the credits are used. NOTE: this place does need to make money so I would recommend checking prices before purchasing. I'm all for supporting local business but the asian in me can't help but want to find the best deals. read more

Meeples is a great place to find and play games. I love that they have the dedicated gaming area, the "Thunderdome", where organized play is regularly scheduled. Thursday evenings are set aside for the Warhammer 40k group (Also Kill Team and 30k) which is where I spend most of my time. The staff is friendly and the place is clean. I also love the availability of adult beverages, an option my old gaming haunt did not have. read more

This is such a fantastic place for all ages. My husband takes our 6 year old here to spend quality time playing games. On my husbands recent birthday, we chose to go there just the two of us and had a spectacular time. There's a great coffee bar and they have beer on tap. You choose a game from their ample selection and play for a couple hours. It's hard to come out of there without buying a new game because the selection is so awesome. Spoiler alert: they are often more expensive than big box stores but that's the price of buying local. If spending a little more means a place like Meeples can stay open, in ok with that. read more

This place is marvelous! You can buy games, or play games they have in their vast library. Staff is so kind and helpful. They explain the games they know about and between a couple of them, they know about A LOT of games. There are tables so sit at while you play their games and eat a snack. There are warm and cold snacks to choose from. They have water, wine, soda, sweets, you name it. People reserve tables to play their group games and the staff are so friendly and don't give the players the feeling they need to hurry up. Several times I have seen preteen kids in groups hanging out, eating and playing together; I love it! read more

If you don't live in West Seattle and needed a reason to move there, Meeples Games would be a good reason why. Great Place... My son and I play Magic (MTG) together and decided to try Friday Night Magic here. We routinely come here and I'm making the trip from Kirkland. Vibe: Really friendly with an excellent staff and gracious service. MTG: Fun and relaxed FNM - exactly what Wizards of the Coast would want as a place to play for new folks. Other FNMs places can be more intense and just less fun. Other games: There are folks playing all sorts of other games here which is cool. Food and Beverage: Decent cafe for a gaming place - I live on Nachos and the one's here are good. They serve beer and cider which I also live on so this really adds to the experience. Really appreciate the staff. Parking: Not sure why I mention this but parking is easy. Anywhere else in Seattle it can ride Metro spend hours finding a place. read more

This is an awesome spot in West Seattle. I went here to draft on a Saturday afternoon. The crowd here is much younger than other hobby shops. I'm in my earlier 20's, but I was probably the oldest person at the store. The store is well setup, and has an energetic cast of crew members. Everyone is enthusiastic about playing and watching Magic. My only concern for this place is the cramped space. Maneuvering about the play area is hard, which makes it somewhat uncomfortable at times. Other then that, I think this is a fabulous place to draft at if you don't mind interacting with younger children. read more

They are exceptionally professional and welcoming to everyone (which I don't find to be true about many game stores as a girl) and the employees recognized me after my first time coming in. Additionally, the cafe staff are kind and understanding. I know how frustrating it is to have customers when you're trying to close up, but the staff still served us graciously. Lesser known than Cafe Mox, I love this place. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable, and while the inventory isn't huge, it's pretty broad and offers a great range of top games, including some that are hard to find. Great cozy space too. read more

I stopped in to check out Warmachine/Hordes opportunities. The stock on hand for miniatures is limited, but they special order. The woman at the counter was very helpful and showed me around. She let me know that the night for WM/H is Tuesdays, so that was helpful. The small cafe offers flatbread pizza, pastries and a bunch of snacks. I'm looking forward to coming in to play sometime. read more

If only they had a larger place! That's my only complaint, but it just means that board games are still big. My wife and I really enjoy our time here. Great snack food (cheese/meat trays, local beers, sandwiches, etc). A wonderful place for a date with some great laughs. The staff are SUPER helpful, really knowledgeable about their games, and pretty friendly! They are wonderful for when you want a recommendation for a game, and the vast "check out" library lets you find out if that's a game you want to buy. Check them out. Meeples is a great, fun spot to browse, shop, eat and game. The owner is very accommodating and provides a wonderful venue. The food is ok. Never had anything bad but also never had anything worth recommending. There is an amazing selection of board and card games but just an okay assortment of RPGs and accessories. Miniatures are plentiful if you several of the same dozen or so things. The one major drawback is the inconsistency of customer service skills across employees. A younger, heavy-set guy is always remarkably friendly and courteous. The oldest male on the team - 50s - needs coaching on how to be better with customers. My last experience he was curt, passive-aggressive and disrespectful but it didn't seem like he was trying to be. If he's the owners husband, maybe he should do the books in the back? If he's just a regular employee, he needs to be trained better or shown the door. read more

Absolutely phenomenal experiences EVERY time! We were unsure how this game store worked on our first visit to Meeples. When we walked in the door, someone greeted us(sorry! didn't catch his name) and we explained that it was our first time in. He excitedly began to tell us how the store worked and took us on a tour to acquaint us with the space! He was extremely friendly and accommodating. We picked a few games that evening and went back the next day!! Same experience with another friendly staff member. This staff member even helped recommend a game for us and later talked in depth about another game he thought we should try in the future--so cool; who takes the time anymore, ya know? This is a great local shop for all of your board/card gaming needs! Lots of table space to play games- bring your own or you can rent (free) from their massive game library. They have a cafe that sells food and drinks including beer and wine. Huge selection of teas and baked goods as well. There is also a points/reward system in place. Everyone is super friendly and easy to talk to if you have any questions about gaming- whether about the game you're trying out for the first time, rule clarification, or picking out a gift for a game lover! Such a fun, different little place. My husband and I found this after a run on alki. I was looking for good food, a cold beer, and it's always a bonus if they have entertainment! This place had it all. The sandwiches were delicious, they had a couple of beers in tap and boxed wine. And we played a card game that was quick and entertaining recommended by a person at the game counter. The guy that worked at the food register was so sweet and helpful, even helped with the game! Great way to spend some free time. I was worried at first when I walked in that it would be maybe too kid friendly but I stumbled upon plenty of adult only tables in the back. It did look like they have competitions in the evenings because a lot of tables were labeled as reserved after 6pm. All in all it was a great experience and we will definitely be back! read more

i take my kid to Pokemon camp here on Sundays. He love's trading cards with the other kids. i like the food at the Cafe and they have gluten free sandwiches. Owner is very friendly. Also, you can play any game you want for free. It's great to have this game shop in the neighborhood. read more

I love this game store slash cafe! While its not a place that you want to hog a table by working (and ordering from the cafe), I've spent a lot of time there with my kids learning D&D, playing the board games they have in their library and eating their yummy food. They have TONS of meetup groups happening there. They have adult beverages and they cater to all ages pretty well. The people that work there are super friendly and helpful. I just can't recommend a better gaming store. It feels like a neighborhood store and like you're always welcome. Definitely try it out! read more

Super place!! The game selection here is quite excellent. Whether you are a hard core gamer or just looking for something to play with your family, you will undoubtedly have many amazing options. They have a designated space for trying out games (for which they have a massive library) in-store, which also serves as a place where they host various tournaments for specific games (usually collectible card games). They also have a surprisingly good and reasonably priced food in their cafe!! We came in with my family, bought a handful of games, and played a couple while we were waiting for our food. My son lives in Seattle, this is a favorite hangout for him. When I was there for a visit he had to take me. What a great place. Clean, organized, super friendly. I only had a cappuccino but I saw someone else get a salad and it looked enormous. The tournament room was a great size. They give a military discount and are just really nice people all around.
