I had barbacoa taco with avocado, it was all meat and no fat, VERY GOOD. My husband had chicharrones plate and he wiped it clean with the homemade tortillas. Overall a great experience, we will be back again.

to go back for lunch. I got the chicken verdes enchilada... and he got Calabacita con Pollo We were both happy with our choices. A coupe of weeks later, I got back to try their Chili Relleno special. We love love love Chilli Rellenos! ... these were more of a 3 star, needed more flavors and salt. Yes, I had to add salt and I hate to salt to anything. Rice and beans are good. I like the peas in the rice. Tortillas are homemade... nothing better than a homemade corn tortillas... and if it made right, you won't miss a flour tort. These are so soft and yummy! We've been looking for a really good Tex-Mex for a few years now since our 'go to' place went down hill, wasn't consistent, and now recently closed for good. So I keep wondering why we haven't been here before now but then again, we are so tired of trying a different place and it is not any good... and SA is FILLED with not so good Mexican / Tex-Mex joints... and some of it is way over priced. Breakfast Taco Special Mon-Fri is ridiculous, but in a good way. The only downside is... La Cocina LInda is not open in the eves... that is when hubby and I like to go out to eat together like once a week and usually I'm craving Tex-Mex. So we're still left w/no place to go. On the other hand, I have a new lunch spot!

I ordered the mole enchiladas. They were a little sweeter than other moles that I've had but I thought that they were good. The second time I went I got the chicken and it was decent. All in all I liked it ok, I'll probably be back...

This is half torta de pastor that I share with my husband.The torta is quite big so we split it.Soup is great.

The real owner came back after having a family crisis.I highly recommend this place.The owners are wonderful and friendly.If there is something wrong with service they will make it right.

Love love nopalitos a la mexicana. They are one of the few restaurants that serve that speciality. It's cactus with scrambled egg & sauté tomatoes & onions. Green salsa is soo good and they have homemade corn & flour tortillas.

I come here when I'm on this side of town. In my opinion, they have the best carne gusada in town. They give up you a red and green salsa when you sit down. Both of them are very flavorful. The tortillas are a little thick and fluffy, and they taste like butter. I'm a picky person when it comes to food, but their enchiladas with the chili con carne are some of the best I've had. I'm not a fan of refried beans, but they had great seasoning, and you can taste the bacon in them. The service has always been good, too. The only reason I gave them 4 instead of 5 stars is because they clean the tables with Fabuloso, and I HATE that smell.

I've made orders to go from this restaurant 3 times, but my 4th time ordering was my worst experience yet!! An employee of the store by the name of Linda was very rude to me after giving me the wrong order, my husband went in to get the order while I waited in the car, he brought the order out and i could tell it was the wrong order without even opening the bag because I only ordered two tacos and there were well over 6 in the bag. I then checked the receipt and seen that they had charged me $26.25 ; again without Even opening the bag i immediately sent my husb back in to get the right order...Even though I never left the premises, she refused to give me the right order, she called me ugly names, told me to just leave and eat the tacos and even told me she didn't want to see me again! I arranged a meeting with the manager (Monica) but when I got there for the meeting, Linda stated that the manager had already come and gone, linda told me that it didn't Matyet anyways because she had already explained "her side of the story", and that I wouldn't be compensated for THEIR MISTAKES... Im super frustrated and i deserve to be heard. I'm not the ghetto black girl that they always Portray us to be. So I'm trying to handle this professionally instead of going in hot, and "ghetto" blazing.

San Antonio is the best place to find breakfast tacos. I stumbled upon this hole-in-the wall restaurant and was delighted at their taco special. You can order 3 tacos (same kind) during the weekdays breakfasts for $3! The tacos were so good and the tortilla was fresh. I especially liked the chorizo/egg and ham/egg. Salsas were flavorful. Can't find tacos like this in Houston...can't wait to go back!

This is the place to be for Tex-Mex food on the northeast side. The food excellent, the prices very reasonable, staff is friendly and service is fast. They have deals like 3 breakfast tacos for $2.89 and lunch specials for $6 or $7 and they include a large tea. Every time I've visited my order has been correct, the food excellent and service fast and friendly. The restaurant sits back off of Walzem a little bit, next door to Subway.

Today my son ordered 4 bacon only tacos to go, and when they gave him the order they were bacon and egg. So i went back and told the lady and was very rude. La Cocina de Mi Tierra is now Mi Cocina Linda... Located in the Windcrest area off Walzem Rd in the Windsor Park Place shopping strip center across from Roosevelt HS. For the longest time I kept seeing La Cocina de Mi Tierra coming up in the local area with high stars but I never got a chance to go over there. Then the other day hubs had Fiesta Fri off so we went to run errands in the area and decided to have lunch. Nothing special, got my order wrong I ordered 2 tacos, a bean and cheese and 1 Carne guisada. Got to work and opened a Carne guisada with cheese...wtf. The bean and cheese I ate and was a little below average. Won't be going back.

We are here from NYC and figured we would ask around for good Mexican food and was recommended here by the staff of bluebonnet family dental. My husband and I enjoyed every bit of it. He ordered a chicken fajita and was surprised with the tortillas, soft and homemade. And I had two tacos one of shredded chicken and other of fish, I loved every bite. Service was on point. Only thing that surprised me was that they didn't have horchata. I love me a sweet horchata with my spicy food but it didn't make a difference with how impressed I was . our bill came out to 17 bucks that's unheard of. Keep doing your thing. So glad we went to the dentist. read more

Found this spot while travelling and gave it a try.It was in a shopping center not much personality but service was good.Starting with the chips n salsa I was disappointed.Chips ok but sauce just not hot enough for me.We both had tacos,hers fried mine with soft corn tortillas.Mine were beef with cilantro & onions,no limes and no squeeze bottles of sauce like you want with Mexican tacos.I think we both had the same opinion,we were hungry when we came in and full when we left,nothing special,nothing terrible,, read more

Come for a lunch on work all the time. Always very clean. Fast service and super friendly servers. Always greeted as I walk In, each time I need a chip or tea refill I never had to wave down the server they are always on top of it! Good size serving especially for the inexpensive price! read more

Not recommended. The servers are rude. We didn't even get a chance to taste their food. We came in today. We were sat down and were served with the chips. My husband needed water or any drinks because he was choking on that spicy salsa. We asked two servers. Nobody wants to take our drinks order and more importantly nobody speaks English! I was thinking what they are saying is to wait for our server. Finally our rude server came. She said she didnt see us. She said if we want to leave then go leave. It is our chance to leave. Just so rude. read more

Love getting breakfast here! When I'm visiting my mom on this side of town it's a must! They've changed their name a few times but the food hasn't changed and I'm so very thankful for that! The tortillas are made fresh in house and you can definitely tell! read more

Picked this restaurant based on the Yelp reviews. They were right. From the outside, it looks like a cheap stripmall eatery, but its very big inside and nice place. Great service from the staff, very welcoming. The coffee was great and so was the sweet tea. I had barbacoa taco with avocado, it was all meat and no fat, VERY GOOD. My husband had chicharrones plate and he wiped it clean with the homemade tortillas. Overall a great experience, we will be back again. read more

The food was absolutely amazing ..as far as the drinks go there are some drinks you don't get free refills on which they didn't mention before you ordered it..the tortillas are to die for you only get two to a person and any additional you pay extra which is probley a good thing because then they'd go out of busy alone on that.. the staff was very friendly and the food arrived in a good timely manner.. Their appetizer chips are hot and fresh with salsa with a kick ..I would definitely go there again their menu had 4 pages of options and alone had one full page if breakfast items read more

Terrific Chilaquiles! Great service too! We got our breakfast in less than 10 minutes. We went back for dinner and my wife loved the enchiladas. She's usually very picky about the enchilada sauce and she really liked them. Note that this restaurant is not affiliated with Mi Tierra downtown, but the food is really great and the prices are good too. read more

Recommend the enchilada plates and the homemade tortillas. Sides are also good. I had the chicken fajita plate but I don't especially recommend it. The meat was not very hot and a side of grated cheese appeared to be American cheese. Service was wonderful, our waitress was very friendly and stopped by exactly at the right times. Atmosphere is pretty regular but it is clean. read more

Today was my first time trying this place out. I ordered the mini taquitos Al Pastor, 1 fish taco, chips & queso. The taquitos were DELICIOUS! The fish taco was grilled not battered, which made it even better & tasted fresh & yummy! Their queso was also just right. And did I mention that they have REAL Aguas Frescas!!! I got the melon flavored. Now I didn't eat everything, I brought everything back for all of us to share. All the results are in....we have found our New Mexican restaurant to order from. And since I didn't specify before, it's also very reasonably price. I truly recommend you check it out next time you're around here. Sincerely, Very happy & full tummy read more

Are you reviewers loco? The food is probably better at Taco Bell. Was all set on carnitas....nope don't have them Had the Steak Asada; it was tiny pieces of unseasoned tough sirloin with plenty of gristle. Had a little bit of that msg taste. The charro beans were ok The menu said it came with guac but instead had 4 paper-thin slices of avocado. The basic tacos were ok but the homemade tortillas were the only bright spot. Bottom line tho the asada dish was atrocious. read more

Don't bother dropping by if your hungry. The wait time is pretty bad. When they do get your order, you'll probably have your ticket submitted after they submit the folks that sat after you. By the time you get your food, it will probably be cold like our plates were. Will not be coming here again. read more

I've been to this place twice now. I didn't really like the salsa. It tasted a little like it had a hint of fresh cut grass. It was not very good, but the chips and salsa were free so I guess I can't complain too bad. I ordered the mole enchiladas. They were a little sweeter than other moles that I've had but I thought that they were good. The second time I went I got the chicken and it was decent. All in all I liked it ok, I'll probably be back because it's close to work, but I don't need to be going anytime soon. read more

I been a regular customer for almost a year, ate there at least three times a week, and had a relative's birthday party there the week before the cashier or lady co-owner told me I wasn't welcome anymore. The reason, I told her little girl about 5-6 years old had a very loud high volume game in the table next to me, it bothered several other customers sitting near by, including two elderly ladies that got up and left. I asked if she could ask children with loud games to "just please keep the volume down to "respect" customers near by. She took it very personally saying I have children, and I don't tell customers how to parent their children!" This was not at all what I was saying, I thought I was helping out for the complete and total customer relaxed experience. She asked, "how was everything, and I was just honest! Not to mention the time she also charged me $8.50 for a fajita taco, and a canned coke and two slices of avocado ,saying" if it is Not inside the taco, it is considered a small avocado salad".......really!!!!!!!!!!???? The food is pretty good, most of the waitresses were very nice, except for maybe one. I have to wonder.......Lady, where is your heart, and if you love your children are you teaching "kindness' by example?" read more

I ordered 65 tacos for the company I work for and everyone loved the taco's. Everyone in the office said by far La Cocina de Mi Tierra has the Best tacos they have ever tasted. Especially the Barbacoa tacos they are meaty not greasy and very delicious. Taco's here are a Must try. This place has great food, ample portions and the staff are wonderfully friendly and accomodating. I live closeby and love popping in for lunch. They are open for breakfast and the breakfast tacos are favorites. Lunch specials offer food with iced tea...can't beat the price for what I consider to be excellent Mexican food. read more

Excellent food and I even liked the background music. Seemed a cut above any Mexican restaurant in a strip center. Good food, good atmosphere, and economical. We'd been to a high school football game nearby and chose this place for convenience- worked out super well for us. read more

Stopped on Saturday around 1100am, a very large menu with breakfast and regular meal options. Opted for breakfast and was please with the result. Very fresh tortillas and tasty food coupled with very friendly service. Would certainly head back if we are in the area. read more

La Cocina is an incredible restaurant with a great staff located in Windcrest. The menu is exceptional with great lunch specials. The best puffy tacos...far better than any other restaurant in South Texas. Great nachos...enchiladas and homemade tortillas. Don't forget the Fideo. Great South Texas sweet tea as well. Very clean! This place is a goldmine for great food at very reasonable prices. MI Tierra in Downtown SA and Henry's Puffy Tacos don't come close to LA Cocina! Family friendly and You won't be disapointed. read more

There were plenty of them, lots of cheese and the guacamole was excellent, not a lot of stuff added to it. My husband had Carne Asada. It came with beans, tortillas and cheese enchilada. When he asked about barracho beans, Anthony brought them right away. The ice tea was strong and tasty and he kept our glasses filled. Everything was flavorful and beautifully presented. The building is new. It's very open with high ceilings, lots of windows and cement floors. There was plenty of outdoor seating. There were only a few parking spaces by the entrance. There was free parking on nearby side streets or paid parking in lots behind the restaurant. We would definitely go back when in San Antonio again. The drink menu looked fun! And they have a rooftop bar.

It was probably our most favorite place that we ate while in San Antonio. The ambiance was great, beautifully decorated restaurant with great service. The cocktails were delicious so we had a few. The only reason I knocked off a star was the bartender was not real friendly to us and took my bf's food order then walked away. After 3 or 4 minutes I was able to get his attention and tell him 'Hey, I didn't order yet!'. He was less then apologetic and said he just assumed he was ordering for both of us. He was definitely more interested in chatting with his local friends then serving a couple of out of towners. But the food was good and so was the drink.

When we plated our trays on the table my family all had heart eyes, and had equally loved our first bites. Their brisket is extremely tender. It's beautifully sliced and made for an amazing welcome back to the South taste for me. I was in heaven. I particularly enjoyed having the fresh pickled red onion for fresh, zesty cuts through the abundance of other saltier elements on the plate. Their menu is slammin! Their sides, and sausages all had crafty ingredients. I enjoyed their spicy link options and their macaroni was delightful. Their BBQ sauce was a nice 4/5 but certainly did the job. As a native Texan who's had their fair share, this was easily some of the best barbecue I've ever had. Top 5 top 5 top 5. I'm of course coming back and looking forward for more banana cream pudding especially. They were small, slightly sweet, and had great balance with the vanilla wafer ratio. That whip cream on top too had me hooked. I couldn't have asked for a better welcome back meal for the bold Texas cuisine, hospitality, and novelty animal and cowboy decor.

The menu itself is expansive and service was quick enough. I ordered the puffy taco plate. The portion was generous but you could taste the industrial "taco seasoning" in the meat. The rice wasn't bad but the charro beans were flavorless, straight from a can but it seemed like the menu lacked focus as it tries too hard to offer "something for everyone ". It did look like a nice place to sit and have a few drinks, but the food leaves a lot to be desired. I'll probably give it another shot, but maybe not.

I've been coming here for 2 to 3 years I loved the food n pre order for me n my buddies UPS ..n deal with that Highschool line OMG!!!! But on 2/28/16.which is a Sunday! My wife n I ordered n she picked it up the order but she left her credit card behind lost it at restaurant. So police n my bank said they took r card to HEB to put gas. Then came back to the same restaurant after hours at 10:10 n swipe my card again !!! At 10:10 pm !! Manager or owner do your job they are stealing from your customers n police n neighbors know !! Coming back in a week to see if that person stills works there if so I'm making a U turn n my UPS BUDDIES stay away !! Funny huh. I'm getting my $ back dumb ??? But u lost business !! Reviews.
