I started my implant process with Dr. Melko and I was terrified with the whole idea of having this procedure, but after my first visit, which is the most invasive part, everything went great. The procedure was quick and seemed easy. Dr. Melko and her amazing assistant, Christina did an awesome job. I felt comfortable throughout entire procedure and was given a blanket to keep me relaxed and cozy. Her assistant does a great job with assisting and helped me through the procedure. If you are in need of an implant, look no further, these ladies will take care of you and you won't be disappointed. This office is clean and very relaxing, which is a plus. Sabrina in the front office was friendly and explained my treatment plan and payment schedule thoroughly, which always makes things even nicer. Very nice front desk staff who are easy to schedule with. I went there because several colleagues mentioned they were close to the office and accepted our insurance, so I booked my appointment. Just before heading to my first annual cleaning, I was warned by 3 people they had gotten additional fees/charges for "add-on" treatments. Apparently, this is the norm... she tried to pitch me on "deep cleaning" (isn't that what you should be doing anyhow?) and some other service. The whole thing felt like a sales push and they spent very little time actually cleaning my teeth. Never again. read more

Dr. Melko has taken over this practice, and it is even better. Every treatment I've had here has been easier and faster than my past experience. There's no waiting in the chair while the staff is trying to juggle multiple patients. They discuss treatment options in detail and don't mind lots of questions. I haven't seen a dentist in over 4 years and finally got a real job with great benefits. I'm also scared of going to dentists but had to find one as things started to get worse in my mouth. Did some research for dentists in MTV (near my job) and found Malek Dental and filled out their online form. Next day, I received a call from a very nice receptionist who made my first appointment for 2 days ago. I am so happy I found this place. Everyone is so nice, professional, helpful, and know what they're doing. I had full xrays done and Dr.Malek went through everything with me in my first visit. I tell people, "I have an appointment at my dental spa today!" They make me feel as relaxed and comfortable as one possibly can at the dentist (ie. warm neck wrap, eye mask, massage chair, ipod, warm face cloth afterward). I appreciate how Dr. Malek actually takes the time in the beginning of my appointment to chat with me and hear how I am, rather than asking me to utter a few short phrases while contraptions are in my mouth. He really seems to care about me and listen to what I say. I've referred my sister and coworkers to his office. Relaxing, soothing and comforting. These aren't usually words used to describe a visit to the dentist--but with Dr. Malek--those words perfectly highlight the experience I had! I am new to the Mt. View area and I was so impressed by the level of service and expertise, spa-like patient environment, and overall experience I had. hate going to the dentist but this place could change all of that. I went in for a cleaning this morning. It was much better then I expected. Here is what I liked about it... * Extremely friendly staff. They greeted me by name when I walked in. *The lobby reminds me of a spa. Soft music and waterfalls *While your in the dentist chair you have the option of watching a movie, listening to an iPod, having a chair massage, & a hot towel to clean up with when you are done. (I chose the movie and the massage). *Dr Malek didn't lecture me for not flossing. *The cleaning was extremely gentle and didn't make my mouth sore afterwards. *When I left they gave me a really cool gift bag that included a bamboo plant to plant at home. What I didn't like *It's really hard to find. There are 3 other dentist offices in the complex and you could easily walk in the wrong one. It wasn't as much fun as going to the movie theater but really impressive for a dentist. read more

Great dental office! You'll get a warm welcome from Sabrina at the front desk, who is very accommodating and knowledgeable on treatments, insurance and products. Love my hygienist, Terri. She's a gentle hand with sensitive teeth and does a fantastic job. Dr Melko is friendly - thankfully with Terri's care, our exams have been short and positive and I haven't needed extensive work! The office has a clean "spa vibe" which is nice and relaxing. They have TVs but I've never requested to watch anything. I've been coming to this office for about 5 years and despite a recent move further away in the Bay Area I still choose this office as my primary dental/oral care provider. read more

Mercedes is their hygienist and she did a great job with my deep cleaning and gave me some helpful at home tips to help me keep up my mouth hygiene. I highly recommend Dr. Melek and his intelligent and compassionate team at Malek Dental for any of your dental needs (he cares for both adults and children). I have tried numerous dentists in Northern/Southern California and have had some terrible experiences with quality of care and up-selling in the past. Dr. Melek and Malek Dental exemplify quality patient-centered care that other practices should adapt. Every staff member has a smile on their face and treated me with the utmost respect and I felt very comfortable. The front desk staff and Dr. Melek were incredibly helpful in answering my questions and helped me navigate through the sometimes challenging insurance process. Dr. Melek was very patient and helped explain the science and reasoning behind his recommendations. The ambiance of the practice is very clean and calming. They have a beautiful water feature, and plenty of windows letting natural light in and view of the outside garden. Unlike the other folks here, I did not have a very pleasant experience at Dr. Malek's office. Here is a list of my observations. 1. The staff was courteous and very prompt. 2. My appointment was moved one day before the I was due to come in. This was fine though I would have liked a longer notice or at least some options, rather than a new appointment time without my consultation. 3. At the beginning one has to sign a document allowing the dental office to charge you should you fail to show up for the appointment on time. This in strange in light of (2) above. 4. I went in for an annual check up. From the discussion with the receptionist, I learned that they had contacted my previous dentist and already had my records. Yet, the doctor decided to conduct another set of full dental x rays (just for kicks). In contrast, all my previous dentists always reference old dental x rays for up to 3 years. 5. The annual dental check up includes scaling (shallow cleaning), but Dr. Malek decided to push that off to the next visit and recommended deep cleaning. I later consulted another dentist who said that I definitely did not need deep cleaning. I guess Dr. Malek was looking to bill two visits in place of one :). 6. Finally, my insurance fully covers the cost of the annual checkup. I have done this many many times in the past and never received a bill even when I have had an x ray. The doctor's office sent me a 100$ bill for x rays. I contacted my insurance who told me that the doc's office had billed the x ray beyond insurance limits (as a full series x ray) and they had to charge me. When I called back, the doc's office said that the bill was in error and I should not pay it. So unless you read the bill with a magnifying lens and dispute details the office would happily over charge its patients. My overall impression of the place was of money making business and not of doctor's office. read more

I have put off leaving this review because I don't like to complain. When I came to this dentist, I was surprised first by the questionnaire that asked my desire for my teeth, since I felt like a sales pitch was coming. And I was right. I had an uncomfortable exam with a lot of pressure from his tools, and without x-ray proof, he told me I had 1 cavity. I did not believe it, because I had an appt. just 6 months prior with no indication (different dentist). Then he asked me if I wanted to come back another day for cleaning, though they had time that day: I said no, I would like it now. He was also the fist dentist to ask if I wanted my front tooth filed, and asked about chipping/ needing a mouth guard: not priorities to me. When I needed a wisdom tooth referral, I did not get one until weeks later, when I had already scheduled my own wisdom tooth surgery elsewhere. A second opinion said the "cavity" was merely a deep natural groove. Not pleased with the possible drilling of a tooth that was not verified by a second opinion. I am giving some stars because of the friendliness of staff and cleanliness of the office. read more

Malek dental was recommended by a friend and ever since then, every 6 month I drive all the way from Oakland to Mountain View for my appointments! Dr. Malek is a full service dentist. In addition to your dental care, he offers your choice of movies, massage pad, aromatherapy neck wrap, and others. He's also an excellent dentist. He cares about his patients and takes the time to do a good job. He's conservative in his treatment, and only recommends procedures which are really needed. read more

I have worked with several dentists in the past and Dr. Malek is by far my favorite dentist. It is strange to say, but I love visiting Dr. Malek's office. The staff is very friendly and they always make me feel welcome. The atmosphere has a calming effect, and I must say I had never felt so comfortable about visiting a dentist in the past. I owe my "beautiful smile" to Dr. Malek and I can't thank him enough for finally getting rid of that gap I hated all my life. Dr. Malek used Invisiline to close my gap. It was a very easy process for me, and whenever I had any questions, I knew I can contact Dr. Malek and he would be happy to answer my questions.
