I called to make a take-out order got through. Had to add to my order literally called seven times and no one picked up. When I got there I added to my order, while I Waited I clearly see that the employees avoided picking up the phone, the phone works the people that work there just don't make it a priority cause there's a huge line and no take out person, but there's a designated 'take-out' area! I had to wait an extra 20 minutes for my added one order. That just bugs me that I called excessively and when I get there I see that call in orders are just ignored. I got the wet carne asada burrito combo plate = ~$8 What a deal! For $5.50, the burrito is huge!!!!!! I finished the entire burrito, but had most of my rice left (didn't get beans). As I was eating my burrito, a lot of the beef fell out so I just mixed it in w/ the rice added alot of salsa (red & green) & saved it for later. I'm eating the leftovers now as we speak! It's like another meal ! The Chili Relleno Burrito was AWFUL!! The worse I have ever eaten.. it was dry & NO BEANS AT ALL.. the cheese wasn't real cheese. I couldn't get it to melt.. it just stayed hard.. the egg on the outside of the chili just slide off. I asked them to put the chili relleno sauce inside the burrito & they didn't!! Both are uniquely made and scrumptious for those chicken and non-chicken lovers. I personally get the chicken salpicon tostada salad. I dream of the veggie tostada! it is like a vegetarian's Mexican food dream. It is full of fresh shredded lettuce, tomato, rice and beans on two crispy tostada shells. It is huge! It is so worth getting it. My husband got the quesadilla and loved that as well. We enjoyed the fresh salsa bar. They have indoor and pseudo outdoor seating (covered area). I frequent a lot of taquerias in the Valley and I have to say that Melody's is at another level. I love to eat and I tend to eat a lot. So when I hit a taco place, which is quite often, I will typically order 4 tacos with rice and beans. Well, I ordered 4 tacos at Melody's, and had no chance of finishing. Not only is the meat better quality than other taqueria's...the quantity is unbelievable. It is no wonder why this place is always so busy. When they brought the food to my table, it was actually comical that I ordered that much for myself. I had 2 carnitas soft tacos (1 of which I brought home), a carne asada soft taco, and a beef machaca soft taco...plus a side of rice and beans. The carnitas taco was amazing...so much meat and great quality for a $3 taco! Same with the carne asada. The beef machaca was interesting. It is a shredded beef stew on a taco. It tasted so homemade. Hands down the best mexican restaurant in the valley! I drive down from ktown/downtown just to get this to-go to enjoy eating this at home. It's that good! They are always extremely busy. Wet (cheese sauce) carne asada burrito AND chicken saltipico (misspelled for sure) salad aka their famous/popular ckn salad is all you need. I can eat at this place 5 days a week! Employees can be a little more friendly but I totally understand cuz of their non-stop phone calls and long lines. read more

A tale of two Melody's......There's the Melody's before covid and the one after, we don't go any more because we went to Melody's 'before' covid and that was GREAT!! The Modelo on-tap was served in a frosty frozen GLASS mug and was chilled to perfection. The salsa bar was always stocked with half a dozen different accompaniments. The food was served on REAL plates with REAL cutlery and half a dozen napkins brought to the table on a tray and was a 'real meal'. The Melody's after covid is a sad and pale facsimile of how great they used to be, I kept visiting during covid and accepted the disappearance of the salsa bar, the frozen mug, the beer on tap, food served in disposable containers with flimsy cutlery and a single use napkin all wrapped in a little baggie that would blow away with the lightest of breezes. After all the variants of covid it seems that a lot of the changes were made to save cash and were convenient. Personally I don't want to add to my carbon footprint and eating from foam containers with disposable everything is annoying. Somehow the food just doesn't taste as good as it once did. We haven't eaten here in a few months and have switched to a Mexican place thats closer to home, a shame, Melody's was worth the extra drive but not anymore. I hope the owners read this and and return to their former glory, good Mexican places aren't nearly as common as they used to be, I can get average anywhere. read more

My favorite Mexican restaurant in the valley, my family eats here at least once a month. The Pico De Gallo is really fresh with the perfect veggie proportions to jalapeño. My go to order is Hard Shell Chicken and Beef Tacos, but tonight I tried the Consume and Carne Asada Fries. The Consume was really light and refreshing, the Carne Asada Fries were perfection. The Asada was seasoned and cooked perfectly, fries were thick, but cooked really crispy, there is nothing I hate more than soggy fries. Only bad thing about Melody's is that lines are long, very limited seating (we send the kids to wait for a table while we are in line ordering), and it takes a while to get your food but with fresh food that is to be expected. read more

Of all their sister restaurants, this is where I got my start with them. This place used to be cash only , now they accept EBT/debit. My usual is the Salpicon Tostada. Never fails. But, I think they downsized their portions. It used to be 3 tostadas, now it's served on 2. I go to one of their other sister restaurants, Senor Sol because it's closer, almost the same menu, thank God the Salpicon Tostada is still on both menu's. This is a small mom and pop shop, so the parking can be hard to find and so is a place to sit. read more

Melody's is a great place to get a great mexican meal and my whole family enjoys it. From the burritos to the salads, everything we have tried here is great. I especially enjoy the strawberry shakes. What makes it awesome though is the salsa bar. The salsa is delicious, fresh, and spicy... It makes me drool just thinking about it. My family has to order extra chips every time so that we fully enjoy it. The one down side is that the place is pretty small so you sometime have to circle around for a table especially during lunch and dinner. So going during an off time is best. They are so cheap only give you a limited amount of cups for salsa from the salsa bar. They don't have napkins at the table either you have to constantly get up and ask the cashier for them. I'm surprised at how high the ratings are on here. My parent's and I just ate lunch and weren't thrilled by any means. With the number of great Mexican options in The Valley this place doesn't stand out. In fact, it's at par with places like The Tortilla Inn, not at the level of Soy Y Luna or even Poquito Mas. The place is small and was packed when we were here on Saturday at midday. The food takes about 20 minutes after you order at the counter, likely because it's so busy. The chips (not free $1 for a big plate) are good, warm and not greasy (good thing) and the guacamole (inexpensive) was ok. We ordered to bowls of albondigas soup, which was ok, not bad, (equal to Los Hadas, but not as good as Los Toros. My mom had a hard taco, which was a typical hard taco and dad ordered a pork burrito, which was large and good, not great. I made the mistake of choosing the pork plate (the rice was bland). The pork was fried, which I'm not a fan of. It took all the tenderness and flavor out of it. Much of it was so well cooked it was like jerky. read more

I have loved Melody's for decades. I remember when Melody's father helped her open the place a long time ago. He owned Las Fuentes right around the corner. I've eaten so many Salpicon tostadas and hard shell chicken tacos in the past it's not even funny. Pitchers of beer used to be cheap and the chocolate shakes that came with extra in the steel tumbler were out of this world. Hell.... I knew Melody when she worked there. Amazingly beautiful woman. She even worked through her first pregnancy! Yesterday I tried to call in my order like I have for years. Tried 6 darn times....no answer... what the heck? Decided to just drive there to make sure they were not closed and found a complete circus. Mostly guys working there. Nobody answering the phone. All menus overhead with prices are covered up and the line of just a few customers was not even moving. I waited for 20 min and I decided to just LEAVE. This was at 3pm too. Lunch rush was OVER. What a complete disappointment. Sad to say.... My love for Melody's has been extinguished. I will not be going back. Really sucks !!!! Probably a blessing in disguise since I just looked at the 5 health code violations they received on their last inspection. read more

I don't understand why the ratings are so high here because the food I ordered just wasn't that great. I got the crispy beef tacos and they were super greasy and tho I like cheese, it contained way more cheese than meat. I mean it was to the point I had to remove most of it and after that there was just a smudge of meat at the bottom. I also ordered the chicken soup and that was 40% rice 40% soup and 20% Grease!
