This place is delicious! For me, pizza usually tastes too heavy. It's one of those foods that taste really good while I'm eating it but I immediately feel gross afterwards. This pizza is something completely different. I had the Margherita Pizza and I am in love with the texture of the crust! It has the chewy and crispy texture of traditional french bread (the kind without additives). It also tastes "clean". There's not really a good word to describe it; it tastes natural and healthy even though it's pizza and I know it should be bad for me. The tomato sauce isn't too spiced or salty-- it actually tastes like tomatoes. The materials are prepped, put together and thrown into the stone oven in front of you. I've also had the gnocci which was yummy but a tad expensive for the serving size. The food is pricey (for me) but on par with the rest of UBC's food pricing. The staff is also extremely friendly! Everyone's offered a smile, even during busy lunch hours. I had a pizza mix-up today and they gave me a free tiramisu (which was absolutely delicious by the way)! How sweet are the staff?? I can't wait to try the other items on the menu. It's definitely worth a try if you are sick of regular pizza. This pizza shop is probably one of the most overrated locations on UBC campus. I think it likely gets a lot of love due to its admittedly, convenient location. Apart from that however, I was totally let down (especially considering the high prices expected at this joint). I think the main problem is, that UBC food services have put great, high-end equipment in the hands of people who simply don't know what they're really doing with espresso machines or wood fire ovens, etc. The first and only pizza I had at this location was a simple margherita, which not only was expensive, but was decidedly plain. The tomato sauce in particular was strange, as it was exceptionally sweet, and quite off-putting. Later, I got a latte from this location, which essentially tasted just like a whole bunch of milk with a dribble of espresso. Not really a latte, and still pretty darn expensive. For a better wood-fired, thin-crust pizza I would hit up Pizza Garden, just off campus (seriously much better), where you actually get good value for what you pay. I went here for lunch today with some colleagues and was impressed with both the service and the food. The pizza menu isn't extensive, but that's fine. All of the pizzas look to be well-crafted. I had the al pesto pizza with pesto, zucchini, pancetta and roasted artichokes. The ingredients were of pretty good quality and the dough was great. When we went in we were a bit put-off by the long line, but we only waited about 5 minutes to place our orders and no more than 10 for them to be ready. I consider that quite reasonable since all of the pizzas are made fresh to order! Go here if you're hungry or will be dining with friends- they don't sell pizza by the slice. Of course, for $8-10 per pizza I have no problem purchasing a whole one and taking half to go for later. I'll be back for sure! read more

This place was great when it started out a couple of years ago. Wood fired pizza right in the middle of campus - yes please! It's gone down in quality and flavour though... the crust holds up better than it used to, but the chorizo on the pizza alla salsiccia is now spongy and weird, and the sauce is blah. First time I've ever added salt to pizza. I do appreciate being able to order a beer, and the seating is as open or as private as you want. I'll keep coming here for my caffeine fix but it's moved down the list of food options. read more

Their delicious pizza is my favourite lunch on UBC campus. They have a bunch of options to choose from for 10 bucks. They don't do slices but I realize I can finish one whole pizza by myself! Their Tiramisu is very good and compares to what I have had in Italy. The not so good about this place are the queues of students so try to not go at peak lunch hours. After extremely rude service, forgetting to put our order in and forgetting to give us our receipt order number I'm sitting here eating poorly cooked, over priced and terribly cut pizza. When I heard about a pizza place on campus I was ecstatic because I love pizza. I had heard excellent things from my friends so I went there one day with my mother and I am sad to say I was disappointed. Our pizza was burnt, and not that tasty. 2 stars for the pizza and coffee, because it's quite good, but it lost stars because of the terrible service I received. I placed an order for 2 coffees and a Margherita a little before 11, when they were apparently, as they told me, switching the kitchen from morning foods to pizzas. Which is perfectly understandable, but they didn't tell me anything until I've been waiting for 20 minutes. The person behind the counter looked like a student, but anyway, he took a pizza out of the oven that I thought was my order after 10 minutes, cut it up, packed it in a to go box and called someone else's name. Oh man! Then he started texting on his phone and it didn't seem like he was working on my order at all, so I went up to the counter and peeked in the oven to see if my pizza was almost done - there was no pizza in there. Oh lord. Another person behind the counter, very friendly, asked me with a smile what I was waiting for, and I told him my order and my name. The first employee, when he was asked about my order, said something like, 'Oh, not that one.'. What's going on? I asked the first employee about my order, and he told me that they were prepping the kitchen so it would take a while to get the pizzas going. Hm, confusing, because I saw you make and serve a pizza 5 minutes ago. I waited for another 2 minutes before I spoke with who seemed to be the manager. He told me the same thing, that they were prepping the kitchen, but I told him that no, they had already served a pizza, the oven was clearly ready. No, he said. That was a lasagna. What?! No, I said. It looked like a pizza, it was put in a pizza box, and I even saw the girl eat a slice. I saw them talk it out and they told me it would be 10 more minutes as they started (!) making my pizza. I am a student and I don't have unlimited time. I gave myself plenty of time to eat but at this point, I had 2 minutes before class started, so I asked for a refund. I got an apology and a refund from the manager, which was great and the reason this review is 2 stars, not one. Even when I was trying to leave, the employee that I assume should have been working on my pizza was asking me for my name, my order, etc. It was much too late at that point and I left. I've ordered pizza here to go when on compass back in the day when working on a project with friends. The pizza is okay, the crust was a bit soft and the sauce made it a bit soggy. It was unevenly distributed so the weight caused my pizza to fall apart. It's okay to have a thin crust if you distribute the toppings properly otherwise go for a thicker crust. We've been here a few times on campus because there are no other options around. We have eaten their bianca pizza, lasagna and tiramisu. We have also drank different types of coffees here as well. The food here is pretty solid, expect to wait if you order pizza because everyone orders those. Plus, they make your pizzas fresh and right in front of you. When it comes to the drinks, stick to the basic coffees and Americanos because the specialty drinks are not good. Overall, this is a good place to go if you do not want to walk all the way to the Nest or the Village. Service is decent and the prices are fair. read more

Super gross pizza, but the pasta's decent. This is really bad Neapolitan pizza. It reminded me of Paris's Pizza Chic, because this pizza is OILY. The margherita is just coated in olive oil, and not of particularly high quality. A person simply cannot eat that much oil, it's gross and you will feel very sick afterwards. The cheese they use has no flavour (it tastes like the bocconcini you buy at the supermarket, not like fresh mozzarella), and the tomato sauce is very acidic. Crust often comes out burnt. I could barely force myself to eat half of one of those personal pizzas. Plus, it was like $14. Ridiculous. Ladies and gentlemen, this is not what good Neapolitan pizza tastes like, and let's not fool ourselves, bad Neapolitan is worst than bad versions of other types of pizza. Again, the pasta is pretty good. The tortellini has a nice, multidimensional, almost floral taste, and honestly, who can turn down baked pasta? A nice indulgence for cold days. I tried this place about 3 months ago and absolutely loved it right away. Since then, I've gone back about 3 times and all 3 times have been disappointed with not only their lack of customer service but the quality of their food. Their pizza is now typically burnt with huge pockets of air all around- it is disgusting to look at. Their staff seems rather incompetent and sometimes very rude as well; a few days ago, a woman at the till rang me up after I ordered a dolce panino. She failed to ask me what type of gelato i wanted inside it, and when i went over to her (while she was making it) and asked her if it was vanilla (like I wanted), she scoffed and said "yes, it's vanilla." I'm not sure if it's their policy to decide what the customer wants, or just take a wild guess, but last time I checked there was 3 types of gelato. She was also extremely rude while I was paying. Good pizza but don't come here if you are in a rush. The average wait time is 15 minutes. If you time it wrong though and come when the employees' friends come by then you can expect to wait even longer. It's really irritating since it's not just that they will stop to chat with their friends but they will serve them food first too. The last time I was here the food was good but I waited for 25 minutes, when I spoke up thinking they forgot about me they still gave my pizza order to another friend then served me. Awful customer service, the cashier was incredibly abrupt and seemed bored and very irritable. Made a huge fuss when I asked if I could ask for no arugula on my Alla Salsiccia pizza, saying they 'dont do modifications' (the arugula is added last, I might add - hardly a tasking thing to ask for). Wait time was fine, except the pizza itself was incredibly soggy and far too thin that I could not pick it up without all the toppings sliding off.
