Hmm, well, my 2nd time here and I decided I'm not as much of a fan as I hoped to be, because I love supporting local businesses. The first time I was at Mercury's, I ordered a sandwich and a twice baked croissant. The sandwich and side salad were really good, the twice baked croissant was ok. Most probably love these, though I'll admit I've been a lot spoiled by only having these in the past at a fabulous french bakery in Seattle, so there was no comparison because the Seattle bakery's croissants are also superior & the better the croissant, the better the twice baked version. This visit I ordered the ham quiche with a croissant crust, as well as a croissant and and latte. Wellll, not sure I'd actually call it a quiche. It seemed more like a croissant crust filled with ham in a creamy cheese sauce - kind of bearnaise-ish like. There was tons of ham, but I expected an eggy quiche-like filling instead of a much looser sauce like filling. I was also wondering if it was supposed to be like this or if it was undercooked? This is not your typical coffee shop. One side is a coffee shop and bakery with baked goods, breakfast sandwiches, cookies, quiches, pizza, and more! I ordered a lox bagel, warmed and a 16oz caramel macchiato. I also got the fruity pebbles Rice Krispie. The lox bagel had fresh sliced salmon, the cream cheese was slightly melted, the onions were sliced thin. The cream cheese is is the middle of the bagel so when I bit into it, it went through the bagel hole so I had to spread the cream cheese before I ate the rest. I loved tasting all the different flavors of the fresh ingredients. The caramel macchiato tasted good as well, not too sweet or toasty tasting. The fruity pebbles marshmallow treat was full of marshmallows, but was a little hard like it was a couple days after it was made. The other thing I wonder about is for the coffee, one of my friend ordered before me and one after me. They both got their lattes, but then I had to wait through 6 people before I got my coffee. Came in Saturday morning around 10:30am and it's CROWDED!! Long line that wraps about 3 sides of their station. Line movers fast though... about 15 minutes to the cashier. Parking was almost full in the plaza and the store was brimming with people. We were able to find a small seating area after we ordered within a few minutes. Maybe we got lucky? Tons and tons of pastries, salads, pastas, bagels, sandwiches. We got their bacon beechers pastry. Delicious with it all warmed up. 10/10 We finished it in less than 5min. It's a bit loud with the amount of people and the music blasting, but I do see some people with their laptops trying to get work done. They do have some outside seating and some bar stool seating around the store ( in front of their kitchen area). Their drinks are definitely on the sweeter side. Mercurys is a good choice for coffee. For reference, its far better than 'Char'bucks, though to be honest thats a low bar. Is it top tier? No, but its stil very good. In my opinion the coffee is the reason to go here, but the food is mid. Yes, props given for variety and in-house production. The best food items are the sweet pasteries, and if you have a sweet tooth you are all set. But if you are like me and dislike sweet, then you will find that the savory pasteries, along with the sandwiches amd salads, are not so good relative to the prices. I found the lox sandwich especially disappointing as the bagel had the consistency of a dinner roll. In the past I've had egg sandwiches and found the egg to be the mass-produced style puck, and ham & cheese croissants on the greasy side. Had a business lunch-sales meeting. The coffee (Iced Blonde Hawaiian), and food (Turkey, pepperjack, & coconut croissant) were absolutely delicious as always. The service is quite fast even when it's busy (Like today). We found an available outside table for a quieter spot & some sun. This place has been so hyped up (FOR GOOD REASON) because it's one of the only coffee shops that offer organic coffee, and that is very very very desirable and appealing!! I absolutely love their coffee- my fav drink is their cold brew, and cold foam! Their coffee affect me differently than other coffee shops, especially places like Starbucks, which I seem to react pretty negatively to. (Anxiety, not feeling good etc) Mercury is an excellent place to visit! When I visited recently, I was definitely very surprised with how much their salads cost. A small salad that they squish down to make look large was $16! After coffee and a six dollar gigantic pastry, my total was like $33 for just me! The pastry was def worth it! I get it. It's a tourist destination. But it's not someplace that I will frequent because I tend to just go to the stands that they have in the area for coffee itself. I won't be buying a salad there again personally. I love that there's a decent amount of parking here at this location. Every time I visit it's crazy busy!!! So be prepared for that! While waiting in line, a staff asked me any pastry to order. I ordered a butter croissant to go. Since it's a simple order, I did not open the box to verify before leaving the store. I also ordered a drink which made correctly. Arrived home, I open the box and found out it's a coconut cream croissant. It went straight to the trash. I met a friend here for coffee this morning and was immediately overwhelmed. The place is huge and cavernous, with movement of staff and clientele in all directions as far as the eye could see. When we found the line to order coffee, we didn't have to wait long to get to the front of the line (they're quite efficient). They have pastries and sandwiches galor--rows and rows and rows of tasty looking items--all of which you can order before you even get to the counter. Browsing the menu I was a bit taken by the selection. Anything and everything coffee and tea wise, with every size imaginable, even sizes I couldn't imagine. (Who orders 32 oz. of coffee? As my friend said, that's a bucket of coffee!). I have to admit, I'm a fan of the small coffee shop. Fortunately, Seattle and the Puget Sound runneth over with small coffee shops. I can see the appeal of Mercurys--they have anything you could ever want, coffee, food, or whatever, and massive quantities of it--but I'd rather have the small shop charm when I go out to get my caffeine and maybe a treat, where I know everyone behind the counter. Don't even think about a latte, you'll be adding another 15+ min and some snark when you ask about your order. Update: nothing has changed after several visits each month. Always the same story: they are short staffed, they don't see your order, huge lineups of frustrated people, abandoned orders after insane waiting times. We tried a little bit of everything, and nothing was short of amazing. Fusion mocha, white russian, tropical green tea, inception energy elixir, ellenos yogurt parfait, famous butter cake, Beecher's bacon egg sandwich, Beecher's sausage egg sandwich, jalapeno sausage sandwich, and cookies n cream cookie. SO GOOD! Free wifi, lots of tables, power outlets, all you need to study or meet up with friends. All of their pastries are made in house, you can literally watch them make their giant cinnamon rolls fresh. I seriously can't talk highly enough about this place. Though Mercurys was originally a Woodinville shop, this Bellevue cafe houses their roastery and bakery with their HQ across the road. With Starbucks no longer qualifying as Seattle's coffee shop and being more of the world's coffee shop, Mercurys has taken the seat. Mercurys is from the 425 and is rocking their "Seattle" roots with a large drink menu, many nibbles, and cafe seating. Other than Woodinville and Bellevue, Mercurys all locations also including Redmond, Kirkland, Bothell, and Fall City. Most Mercurys locations are drive thru style, but this location is specifically a cafe. You enter the cafe to order at the bar, wait to be called, and find a seat. In better weather, outdoor seating is available. Though many still grab and go like I do when I go to this location. Mercurys also offers a loyalty card if you decide this is your coffee shop. Signing up earns your a free drink on your birthday and gets you on their email list to keep you up on promotions (and I hate getting emails but they don't over send in my opinion). Today I couldn't have any solids but had a 12oz twisted mocha (black and white) and my hubby had a chai tea latte. For the twisted mocha. We arrived at Mercury's Coffee and it was pretty crowded. The line is long but it moved pretty fast. I don't think we waited very long. They have a sign which was pretty funny that said to be patient with the wait because they are short staffed and if the wait is too long, please apply for a job. I thought that was really a cute way of advertising that they are looking for workers. The staff was really friendly and helpful. They had lots of tables and the turnover was pretty quick. I thought it would be really noisy with all the people in there, but it was average. We ordered a dark chocolate mocha (it's not on the menu but was on their old menu), Matcha Tea Latte, Pasta salad, and egg salad croissant. The dark chocolate mocha there is my absolute favorite. My husband said that the Matcha Tea Latte was a little on the sweet side but he really enjoyed the Latte. The Pasta salad was great. Lots of chicken and cheese which is how we like it. I love olives so I wish there were more in there, but there was enough to satisfy my craving. The egg salad sandwich was really good. It wasn't swimming in mayo which is how I like it.
