If you like Thai food this is a nice place I'm gonna give it for stars because I think the service to be a little better

I have decided to rerate Mercy Thai. After going back a few times, Mercy Thai is an average Thai restaurant in Omaha. The noodle dishes are far and away the best offerings here in my opinion and the value/flavors are all good (fried noodles, drunken noodles and Pad Thai are all solid). Still not a fan of the curry; the watery texture isn't very good. It's way too thin dissipates when eating it with rice. It's a shame because the curry flavors are all pretty good. Some of the other chicken dishes are not good value and come in tiny portion sizings. Would skip personally. All in all, Mercy Thai is decent but there are better Thai places in Omaha. I like Thai Orchid much more myself; the value is better, curry has better texture, and the portions are larger for maybe $1 more. read more

Thai once a week from this place. Family-owned, local businesses like these are gems. Thai food can be gummy and bland if it's not done right, which is not a problem here. Spice levels will be adjusted to your palate: the difference between medium and hot actually means something here. Favorites are pad thai and pad see ew. If you ask, they'll sub tofu for protein. read more

Mercy Thai is simply put, phenomenal. When I first moved to Omaha, I wasn't expecting to find such a wide variety of Asian cuisines, so you can imagine my pleasant surprise when I come here to find a place like Mercy. I would put mercy Thai side by side with some of the best Thai food I've ever had, from "5-star" type restaurants to those hole-in-the-wall shacks that serve equally incredible dishes. We had a fairly standard assortment, Thai iced teas, spring rolls, pad Thai and a pad see ew. The Thai iced teas were delicious, and of a far more generous serving size than usual. My pad Thai was exceptional, capturing all those complex flavors and textures of the best Thai dishes. The pad see ew and spring rolls were every bit as good. One thing I'm truly appreciative of is that they don't mess around with their spice-scale. If you want a spicy dish, they'll actually serve it spicy without a fuss. As a pasty white guy I'll often ask for my food spicy at Thai places only for them to try to change my mind and eventually send out food that is mild at best. Here, if you ask for your food to be a 7/10 on the standard spicy scale, you'll be pooping hot fire the entire next day. Bravo. read more

Wow. Just WOW! The food here was delicious and the amount per dish is fantastic! The crab rangoons were amazing. They were creamy with a wonderful fried crust. The spring rolls were obviously made fresh and were a perfect start to the meal. My husband can't remember what his dish was called, but, thought it was beyond. Beyond what? Just beyond! I ordered the pad Thai. It was darker and did not taste like "normal." It was better! Loved how the sauce seemed to be soaked into the noodles and the chicken was cooked perfectly. The service was a little slow, but, the two gentlemen that took care of us where polite and vert friendly. Overall a great taste bud experience! read more

I'm from sf Bay Area and I'd say I have high standards when it comes to food, especially Asian food. So I'm definitely speaking highly of this place when I say if you want good Thai food come here. I'm here for work and only had the drunken noodles and the lao papaya salad and the papaya salad blew me away. Ab-so-freaking-loutly amazing. Drunken noodles are good I order 9/10 for spice and it came out spicy to where I enjoyed it. I LOVE spicy just to give you an idea of how spicy it was. Never thought I'd find good let alone amazing Thai food in Omaha Nebraska. Glad I have this place a shot and you will too if you come. Food was great and delivered hot in a ice storm! I tipped the delivery guy again because the food was HOT. In a ice storm! The Drunken Noodle had just enough spice and the soup was very good. Mercy Thai has become our go-to place for Thai food for a few reasons: Fast carryout: Which means our impulse decision to have Thai for dinner is ordered (online or over the phone) and ready for pickup in 15-20 minutes. Service is A LOT faster than our previous go-to place: Sometimes I don't have the luxury of having a two hour meal, especially over the lunch hour and I hate feeling stressed about time. A small establishment, even their slower service moments (e.g. large groups) are decent. Keep in mind, the service is not on par with the local high end chophouse, so come with realistic expectations. And, of course, the food: Good portions, affordable and tasty. Their pad thai (8.95) is a bit different, which I like. I am a huge fan of their noodle soup (9.95), especially on a Sunday afternoon, with a side of papaya salad (7.95). Both dishes have great flavor balance and are complimentary - the rich, warm, soup complimented by the fresh, bright salad. Of course, we order both at higher spice levels, so there's a lot of sweating during our meal. Ordered at the right spice levels, this flavor combo will knock out any cold, cure any hangover or simply warm your bones on a cold winter day. However, our most ordered dishes are probably the drunken noodle with tofu (9.95) and pad ka prao with beef (8.95). Both are rich and savory with standout sauces. I especially love the fried egg atop the rice that comes with pad ka prao. Mercy Thai has quickly become a weekly "break from cooking" staple for us. read more

As my boyfriend and I were driving home one day we saw that a new Thai restaurant had recently opened! We love trying new places and we love Thai food so you can guess how excited we were to check this place out. Last night was the night it happened. We drove down and walked in. The restaurant is a nice blue throughout and it gave a calming and open feel to it. The staff immediately got ready to seat us and had smiles on their face, excited to have customers for the evening. There is ample amount of seating and decorated minimally which I think is great, because the food is what truly stands out here. We decided to take our orders to go but as we were waiting we chatted with the staff a little. They are sweet and very friendly. If you have never been to Thailand, I highly suggest that you do, they are known to be kind and friendly. And these employees prove it, they are all from Thailand or from another country. They shared with us that the pictures that line the wall were taken in Thailand and sent over to decorate the restaurant!! It's a little peak into such a beautiful country! If you have any questions about the food or Thailand, do ask! They are more than willing to share with you about where they're from and what influences the dishes they have. The food came out in a timely manner and we left the restaurant knowing we would bring our friends and family here in the future. We got home and were ready to feast! Side note: the entrees were reasonably priced at $7.95 for chicken fried rice and $8.95 for chicken yellow curry. Fried egg rolls: $2.95 and two generous portions of Thai iced tea for $1.50. Total for about $25!! We first sipped our Thai iced tea and it was on point! Next we tried our respective entrees. My boyfriend took a bite of his fried rice and loved it! He said it was different from the other Thai fried rice entrees he's tried at other Thai restaurants, but delicious. My yellow curry had a great flavor and I loved the addition of potatoes. It was my first time trying Yellow curry as I usually order green curry, but it was a win for me. The egg rolls had a nice kick to it but for someone who orders a spicy level of 1 on a scale of 1-10, it was just right. We finished our meals and listed this restaurant as one of our favorites to keep in mind when we're hungry for Thai food or when we want to have dinner with our friends or family. If you enjoy Thai food and are looking to try someplace new, do check this place out. You'll thank me later. read more

I spent a decade traveling for a global financial processor, assessing technology risk. Everywhere I traveled, I ordered the Drunken Noodle at what everyone told me was the best Thai restaurant. Frankfurt Germany, London, Washington DC, Sidney Australia, etc. The Drunken Noodle at Mercy Thai is tied (thai'ed? :) ) with Bangkok Thai Dining in Washington DC for the absolute best drunken noodle ever, based on my travels. Granted it's only 50+ restaurants I've tried globally but if you're a fan of drunken noodle and are in Omaha, it's the best. Tips: Order Mercy Thai's drunken noodle with extra veggies. (Hey Mercy Thai - you should do that by default - it sets you apart and makes your dish rather healthy!). Whether its tofu, chicken, etc., it's a fantastic dish. This place is a great go-to Thai place for lunch (haven't been for dinner). Food has good flavor and comes out fresh. Service is friendly and quick. The best Thai food in Omaha, hands down! Everyone I take here agrees that the food is fresh and delicious and the prices are so reasonable. I go back to my usual, which is Pad Thai, but their other dishes also delicious, like the curry dishes and fried rice and soup. Their appetizers are awesome as well. I love the saw Mo swa, which is a triangle shaped dumpling filled with meat and potatoes and deep fried. The inside of the place is kind of a dive, but you shouldn't let that stop you from giving this place a shot. I stopped in on my lunch break and placed an order for Tom Kha Gai and steamed rice to go. It was a little pricey for $11, but I guess not astronomical. The dining room was about half full and several people came and picked up their to go orders in the short time that I waited. My food was packaged tightly when it was brought out, and didn't leak at all, which I very much appreciate! I wasn't able to eat for at least 15 minutes after returning to work, and my soup was STILL hot, but surprisingly the chicken wasn't dried out at all even after sitting in that hot soup for so long. Don't ask me how, I can't figure it out. I had ordered it at a spice level of 3 (unsure if the scale was 1-5, or 1-10...figured a 3 was a safe bet) and it had just a tiny bit more than a hint of spice. It lingers on your tongue for a long time but doesn't keep getting hotter. It's just there, like "Hello!" I loved everything about the soup...I even ate the mushrooms which normally I would pick out, because they were cut into nicely sized bites and not left whole or halved. I swung through Mercy Thai FINALLY. I am really rarely in this part of town but happened to be out running errands and realized I was just a mile or so away from a place I've had bookmarked on Yelp for months. I got my food as take-out, because I was very late for lunch ~2:30pm, and they were closing at 3pm. I was not disappointed. This place is small and in a strip mall; it's very basic inside when it comes to decor, but it was clean. It's clear that they're spending all their energy on food. As an appetizer I ordered spring rolls which were quite good, served with a really lovely spicy/sweet chili sauce that I adored. The portion was very generous - definitely enough for 2-3 people to split. For an entree I grabbed Pad See Ew with tofu and added extra veggies (this is my go-to favorite noodle dish - way more depth of flavor than pad thai!). When I ordered, the waiter asked me what level of spicy I wanted, from 1-10, and I ordered a 7. First of all, I am SO grateful they let you do this - too often, pad see ew is a very mild, leaning toward sweet sauce, and places that allow me to pick my spice level are my favorite. Second, they took me seriously and gave me quite a spicy dish that I adored. The tofu was crispy and perfectly cooked, those big wide noodles were delicious and just-chewy-enough without being gummy, and the veggies were good (though I wish I'd had a few more - glad I ordered extra). And the sauce. Oh boy! While my 7-level-spicy noodles were spicy, the spice didn't overpower the dish and it was delicious. That said, I typically have a hearty spice tolerance; if you're someone who doesn't handle spice well, I'd stick to 5 or below based on my experience. Finally, you just can't beat the price. The entree was big enough that I had leftovers, as were the spring rolls, and my entire bill was $15. I actually said "are you sure?" when he rang me up, because I was expecting it to be pricier. In short: great food, quick service, flexible spice menu, cheap prices. All in all an excellent lunch. Next time I'm in the neighborhood I will be back, Mercy Thai! read more
