I get so excited when I discover gems like Meso Maya! Oh my goodness y'all. What a unique menu!! We started off with their Queso Poblano with brisket (amazing) and a Serrano Berry Margarita. Perfection! For my main, I ordered their Chuleta Budin Azteca which is kind of like a Mexican cheesy lasagna with diced pork and potatoes. Highly recommend. Yum! My husband had the Del Mar Enchiladas which came with crab meat and shrimp. I don't eat seafood so I didn't try this but he said it was fantastic. The best part of the meal, however, was dessert! We had the Pastel de Chocolate which was a warm dark chocolate cake served with....... fresh corn ice cream!!!!!! OMG! That was my first time eating corn ice cream (it had actual corn kernels throughout) and it was phenomenal! Apparently, Meso Maya is the only spot in Texas that offers this kind of ice cream so if nothing else, you should stop in for this. We were definitely impressed! Service was great and it wasn't busy on a Friday night at 6:30 so we got right in without a reservation. If you haven't been here, it's definitely worth a try! read more

This is one of the few (small/local) chains I'll go to. I've never been to this location & it did not disappoint! The Conchinita Pibil was beautiful & delicious. The Del Mar enchiladas with its verde sauce will definitely be ordered again & the ceviche was just as tasty as the downtown Ft Worth location. LT was our server & she was fantastic. Friendly, knowledgeable & had great suggestions without being pushy. The staff works so well together & are super considerate. Waited exactly one hour to be seated. Oh, they make you wait in the cold or in your car by the way, real cute. They have heaters they won't even put in the outdoor area for waiting guests! When we were seated, we received chips and salsa. Very small portions. Took a while to get more. Ordered drinks. When the helping staff of the waitress brought out our appetizer there were no plates. So we had to try and not spill all over the table as we ate our queso. He also just set down the queso and walked away- he didn't even bring us chips. How tf do you eat queso without chips? Was I supposed to spoon feed that sh** to myself? We would have asked for plates but our waitress disappeared forever. Waitress came over finally. Ordered another drink. Asked for more chips again because they were sitting there empty. No one refilling chips or water. After a long wait we finally got to order our food. My second drink still not out. By this point I lost my buzz from the first drink. When food arrived They brought out the wrong food. At this point from the moment we sat down to the moment we ORDERED our food it was another entire hour! So on top of all of that we were just over it. I've been waiting patiently for something to be done with the old Rockfish building. I was ecstatic when I heard Meso Maya would be coming here. I've always wanted to eat at one of the restaurants in Dallas, but never made it there. Now I don't have too! The husband and I came for lunch yesterday. I didn't feel well, but I managed to muster up enough energy to come here to eat. I'm always DTE (down to eat) even if I don't feel too hot. The service was great. Our waiter was genuinely excited about the food. Everything is made there fresh including tortillas and dessert. Their salsa is delicious, it is kind of similar to Pappasitos. That smokey, peppery salsa. We got the Chicharrones for appetizer. I can't even describe them, but they were so good. Not like the pork skins you find in the grocery store. Lol. They were fried crisp with a salsa verde and you eat them with the tortillas. I didn't want nothing heavy, so I got the Lonche special. You get a choice of soup or salad with a taco or enchilada. I got the salad with a Serrano enchilada. The salad was light and I really liked the honey lime cilantro vinaigrette. The serrando enchilada was stuffed with chicken and cheese, topped with a serrano sauce. Husband got the Pozole verde and the Del Mar enchilada. His enchilada had crab meat and shrimp. So good. The special also comes with black beans and white rice. The rice was perfectly cooked and the black beans were flavorful. There isn't very many restaurants that make me "hmmm" with everything I taste. Everything I tasted was very good and flavorful. There are no restaurants in this Hulen/Overton Ridge/Bryant Irvin area that excites me, but this place right here does. I'd say it's one of the best restaurants in the area. It is not Tex Mex, so if you want cheap Tex Mex take yourself around the corner to On the Border. If you want great Mexican food, come here. read more

The fatty tasty pork combined with a bright acidic sauce and pickled red onions wrapped in a great corn tortilla was worth the cost of the whole meal. WAIT! We went in early May, 2017. They had just opened. They are not ready! Wait a few months before you go. We went for brunch on a Sunday. It was a mistake. The wait staff, kitchen, and support staff were not ready for a full house. Our food took over 30 minutes after ordering. I took amazing pictures of all of the dishes... Only to find out that my sunny side up eggs were rubber. Everything was cold. I had them remake the dish. The manager came over and apologized and gave me the new dish. Halfway through I realized they didn't put any meat in it! I spent $13 for 2 eggs and no ham!! My son ordered a soda. Ten minutes later they come back and told us they don't have any...and yet we were still charged. The waitstaff couldn't decide who was waiting on each table and who is responsible for getting us drinks. It was an absolute mess! Our waiter eventually told us that the kitchen wasn't ready and he kept shaking his head. Portion sizes were tiny. For the prices, that was disappointing. Everyone liked their meal, once it came out hot. We will probably go back in a few months. Until then, stay away. Let them work out their processes first. read more

I said I'd be back and here I am. Had a refreshing Mango Sangrita and super fresh guacamole on the patio. Both were excellent. They don't do the whole table side guacamole thing, which is fine by me. This guac was just as fresh and nice and chunky. The spoon is there for a reason; use it. Your chips are no match for that chunky monkey guac goodness. It does have Serrano peppers, and was more than a bit spicy. I like spicy, but for a "default" guac, it had some heat to it, for all you anti-spicers. And the real kicker on the evening was the flan de queso. Cream cheese style flan that has the perfect texture and flavor. Some sort of spiked whipped cream- wow! And some fresh strawberries to cut the richness. Truly a decadent and well executed dessert, and for $6.50, I feel like I'm cheating them. read more

My food wasn't so great like the other place Rice was cold! I got a sweet corn tamale cold as well no refills on drinks. I want to tell you how horrible Mesomaya is, but I'd be lying. My husband and I come here often. Their food is fantastic and the service is wonderful. We've never had to wait for a seat (which is why I want to tell you it's horrible, so there will always be seats) and the staff recognizes us and keeps my glass full of their wonderful Mango tea, accented with a slice of orange. Try the Pollo con Mole, or the Betabeles salad. I'm very fond of their roasted brussel sprouts, and the flan is amazing. Seriously stay away from this gem. Our table had the Queso Blanco, brisket and Serrano enchiladas and each bite was better than the last! The chips were cooked to perfection and there was an unidentifiable, but delicious flavor in the salsa. We had TWO managers come check on our table and when I needed to use the restroom one even escorted me so I didn't get lost. A lover of good the more genuine Mexican cuisine than the more common "tex-mex" variety (think Rick Bayless' Frontera/Topolabampo versus El Chico), we were very pleased to find Meso Maya during a recent trip to Fort Worth. We did take out twice, and each time enjoyed fabulous drinks from an excellent bartender while waiting for pick up. The 'anejo tequila martini' suggests a vermouth treated a tequila mix, but it is actually a wonderful twist on the skinniest of delicious margaritas. The menu nicely varied and no one was unhappy with their choice from enchiladas (slightly unremarkable) to much more hand-crafted tacos (pork and chicken tried). My personal favorite was perhaps the best chili rellanos I've ever had with succulent short rib (nearly confit) accompaniment. Highly recommended. read more
