The biscuit was really good especially with the strawberry butter. At first the sounded like a an odd combination but it was good! My friend enjoyed her pancake and home fries. This was our first time at this location after visiting both the original location and another in Jacksonville. I ordered the Chicken Dinner. The 1/2 chicken was fried nicely, crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. It was delicious, but the breading could have used a little more seasoning. The redskin mash and sautéed zucchini were outstanding, with a little gravy on top. My wife got the Yo Hala, which was a delicious mixture of bananas, cream cheese, brown sugar, and hazelnut sauce sandwiched between challah French toast. It comes with a strawberry and blueberry compote, but since she is allergic, they subbed a peach compote. Bacon finished her meal. My daughter got a chicken tender sandwich with hash browns. Hash browns were crunchy and generous. A visit to Metro was a treat, and we left full and happy, as we have in the past. We have never been disappointed. read more

At a potentially cursed location, the sketchy looking Metro Diner has taken over where a Friendly's and an upscale Carmel Kitchen/WineBar was. So walking in I expected nothing but Denny's quality. Wrong I was! When we walked in the hostess was very friendly and hip. The interior isn't anything to write home about but the counter stools in one area have a nostalgic feel along with the checkerboard floor. A huge blackboard with daily specials covers one wall. On the table were thin paper placemats covered with ads. A throwback, yes, but kinda cheap and tacky. Super cold inside for me. Needed a sweater by my dining companion was absolutely fine. Overall, the service was friendly but a little too friendly (not like that!) meaning too much socializing at one table for quite awhile and neglecting ours when we needed more napkins. (The napkins they had were super cheap and useless pretty much. Plus there aren't any dispensers at the tables so ask for extra when you get your food. ) Then ten minutes after we ordered, the server came back and said they were out of English muffins. Should have known that sooner but to our surprise someone had gone over to a nearby Publix to buy some!! You've now got a customer for life! Friend ordered Eggs Benedict while I tried the chicken and waffles (how could I not?) Friend really liked his and the hash browns had the perfect ratio of crispiness. My dish was huge and could feed two people. Fried chicken was great and the waffles nice and airy. Didn't care for the strawberry butter that came with it as it left an aftertaste. My server did introduce me to the proper way to dip my chicken--hot sauce mixed with syrup. Nice and different and it grew on me. Fabulous food, local dive-like feel and the best part about this was being surprised that the original Metro Diner which began in Jax was featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives!! My Lord the chicken and waffles with that Strawberry butter was off the chain. The Omelette was perfectly cooked not under or over seasoned. Some many forget that you have to seasons the egg prior to starting the Omelette so it's not bland. The chicken was well seasoned also not under or over cooked. Metro Diner has a variety of choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I've only tried the breakfast but I saw some of the lunch items being made that looked amazing. Good for families and reasonably priced for the generous portions of food. Atmosphere: Welcoming staff, clean restaurant, with a typical diner vibe. If you sit at the bar area you can watch all of the food being prepared, which made it really hard for me to choose between ordering breakfast or lunch after seeing s variety of delicious options! Food: Ultimately I decided to order a traditional two egg breakfast that came with hash browns, crispy bacon just how I like it, and toast. The food was wonderful, but there was so much that I couldn't finish everything. I also tried some of the plain French toast my boyfriend ordered. It was good, but nothing extraordinary compared to other French toast I've had elsewhere. Metro Diner is a fun place to eat, with great food that won't break the wallet. It's so hard to get a true and full idea of a business in the age of COVID-19 but here is my review in the midst of it. We got a chicken sandwich and the chicken and waffles. Both were good. The service was intermittent but the server was doing the best she could. The dining area was a little messy, which probably should have made us leave, but we stayed. All in all, would I go back? Maybe. Would I recommend it? I wouldn't steer anyone away from there but probably wouldn't recommend it either. We just ate here for the first time and MY GOD! The food was amazing and the service was AWESOME! We had a server named Karen. A nearby couple overheard it was our first time eating at the Metro Diner and the gentleman sprang up and apologized for his intrusion but had to give his own ringing endorsement to his favorite breakfast spot that he looks forward to eating in every week. I was still skeptical though. Every spot has it's regulars I thought. So this guy who's tried everything on the menu may be enthusiastic, but what does he know really. He's putting his arm around the waitress and talking about how she makes the best coffee and you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Turns out that man really knows what he's talking about. The coffee was incredible. I got the Chicken and Waffles and my wife got a special called the Cheeseburger Benedict. Both dishes were OUT OF THIS WORLD! Every element of each dish was perfect. The seasoning they use on the fried chicken is incredible and you can taste it all the way through the chicken. It's also extra crispy. They made a spicy syrup table side using Louisiana Hot Sauce. When you tie the whole dish together with the strawberry butter it is the best chicken and waffles I've ever had and I've had some damn good chicken and waffles in my day. My wife's dish was incredible too! Every part of the cheeseburger Benedict was perfect. The poached eggs... phenomenal. Hollandaise sauce... unbelievable. Burger...fantastic. And let me tell you they hash browns stole the show. They might have been my favorite part of the whole breakfast. Sounds crazy I know, but we ordered them with cheese and they were super crispy on the the bottom and thick cut so they held their texture really well. All other hash browns I've had in my life have paled in comparison. So long story long. I'm now a believer. I'm gonna go back and make Karen my best friend like that other guy, because she does make a mean cup of Joe and the chefs there have perfected the art of making the best damn breakfast you could ask for. read more

This place looks like your run of the mill diner, but once you get inside taste the food it is so much more. I had French toast which was AMAZING and my finance had shrimp and grits which she raves about for the rest of the day. The staff from the host to the waiter are all nice and friendly. The Manager walks around checking on everyone to make sure everything is all good. We luck out because it is right down the street from us. I met a friend here for lunch and to catch up with one another. Neither of us had been here, so we were eager to try the food. The restaurant's location was convenient and it has ample parking. The place itself was kind of noisy when we first arrived but as the lunch crowd thinned out so did the noise. I ordered the roast beef bleu. The sandwich was not over the top but it was good. This review is a few months overdue. But I got a tell you we went in on Easter last minute. All I really wanted was a slice of ham and some potatoes. But nobody in town was serving ham. We called Metro diner on the phone and asked them if they had ham and they said they had a ham steak on their breakfast menu and we asked him if we could just order it by itself and some potatoes and they said please come in and we will take care of you. And they did. Thank you for giving me exactly what I wanted!!!! On a holiday no less. I wish I would have written this sooner so I could've told you our hostess name because she was the bomb. Scratch cooking and breakfast all day make Metro Diner my favorite new restaurant group in Florida I've been to several locations recently (Gainesville and Coral Springs). Today I had lunch in Altamonte Springs. The staff was friendly, I was seated promptly, and my veggie omelet included perfectly cooked fresh veggies. It was a great portion size and a tasty omelet. My dining companion had a burger which looked amazing. I wanted to steal it. The fries were crisp and perfectly seasoned. I like the friendly atmosphere, and the fact that they clearly put quality first. I need to explore the menu further and also try them at dinner time. My family and I love Metro Diner! On the weekends my husband, toddler, and I like to get breakfast out and Metro is our go-to choice. The service is always friendly and prompt and if you go early (think toddler breakfast time) there is no waiting. Later in the mornings they get very busy though. I usually try one of their specials. I always enjoy Metro Diner each time I have gone. I think I get something different each time because I must always know I won't be disappointed no matter what I order! The last time I got the spicy honey chicken biscuit and it was so delicious! The perfect combination of sweet and spicy! I've also had the sausage gravy biscuits which were very tasty as well. The staff is also always really friendly and accommodating. Everything always seems to be real kept up in regards to cleanliness. There is inside seating and some outside seating for those cooler or windier days. I've come here with many friends over the years and for work team lunches and keep coming back for more each time because Metro Diner really is great! Frickin LOVE THIS PLACE! I am originally from New York so diners hold a very special place in my heart & wow oh wow this place is special. The menu is so extensive & there is literally something for everyone. The amount of food for the price is fantastic. Everyone from the waiters to cooks to the hostesses are very friendly. Plenty of seating so even when it is super busy (weekend mornings) the wait is no longer than 15-25 minutes. It is located in a pretty big plaza so parking is always available. The chicken & waffles is their most famous meal. I always have to share because of the amount given. I love how they mix the hot sauce and the syrup right at your table & the strawberry butter is a nice special touch. Highly recommend! read more

The food sucked my sandwich was soggy when I picked it up it fell apart my girlfriend's steak tips were chewy and nasty she spit about four pieces in a napkin the server was rushing us!!!!! Stopped in for a breakfast meeting with a co-worker. Had the Veggie Omelette w crispy hash browns and an English Muffin. Portions were large. Everything the way I liked it. Omelette could have been a bit warmer but still tasted good. I'm somewhat of a coffee snob and usually hate restaurant coffee but it wasn't too bad. Nice atmosphere and not too noisy.
