This is my first experience with any Metro Diner, and I must say after my breakfast their I am happy we got one in Trussville! The place was packed but we only had to wait around ten minutes to be seated, right when the hostess quoted. There was a mixup on my order, but nothing too detrimental and I assume that was just part of the growing pains of an entirely new staff. My protein breakfast was great all around but the real stand-out was the cinnamon pancakes- managed to swipe a few bites from my girlfriend's plate and it was to die for! Going again just to order that. I can't speak to the quality of their lunch menu just yet, but Metro Diner is definitely a place I will return to in the future, lets just hope they have more seating! read more

Finally went on a Tuesday at 5:15pm and beat the crowds. Great comfort food cooked correctly. Nothing was over cooked or too salty. I enjoyed the roasted turkey and gravy and very creamy smashed red potatoes (and I'm not even a mashed potato fan). The squash and zucchini were still a little crisp and so fresh. I ordered the two egg breakfast meal with my hash browns cooked hard. They didn't cook it hard my hash browns was greasy and undercooked and it was greasy when they did it over. My fried egg was greasy, the bacon was soggy and greasy everything was absolutely horrible greasy and no taste. This is the second time I have been here and the food was horrible. I will not be coming back my meal was about 11 dollars and I threw it away. I have never had simple breakfast food to be so greasy and tasteless. read more

The breakfast menu is great. The egg pie was a complete meal with layers of eggs, cheeses, mushrooms, red skin potatoes and onions. I had a side of cheesiest grits which was just grits sprinkled with cheese, but the grits were seasoned very well. My only issue was that the orders were not served at the same time so by the time all of the items were served, the earlier food was cold. The staff was very friendly, maybe not as attentive as needed. The manager was very apologetic about our service. We went to the Metro Diner once before for dinner and we just weren't that crazy about our food. But we decided to try again and get Breakfast/Brunch food and wow! It was great! The grits were cooked perfectly, so creamy and good. My omelette was fluffy and the ingredients were fresh. My husband got biscuits and sausage gravy with eggs and home fries. I had the pleasure of dining here a couple of weeks back on the day they ran a special on Chicken & Waffles. I took full advantage of the deal of the day and even got myself a mimosa to go with my brunch. Not only was the dish well above expectations, it also came with a spicier syrup to put on the chicken. The additional aspect of this syrup helped make this dish better than your average Chicken & Waffles, and the mimosa was pretty great too. All in all, I'll defintely return to have this dish and more in the near future. If I had to give any constructive criticism, the only issue I had was with the wait for the food, but that was to be expected on a busier than average day. If you're in the mood for great food locally, you could do a lot worse than Metro Diner. You defintely can't do much better. If you find yourself in there any time soon, give my best to the staff. I'm a big fan of metro diner and have gone several times, well I took my husband for the first time, he ordered fish, let's just say it was terrible, I asked what kind of fish then let them know it was bad because although it's fish it's should not have a fishy smell and the taste was off, she told her manager he took the meal off the bill but no one asked if we would like something else, my husband left without eating and I felt horrible, I'm big on customer service and this was disappointing. read more

This was my first visit to the restaurant. The food was delicious and appetizing. The portions were enormous. Our server, Valerie was wonderful. She gave her recommendations of menu items that were her favorites and gave good suggestions to order. She even came to the table and interacted with us. I was excited to finally try Metro Dinner, but I was quickly disappointed. I did order through Uber eats. I had the chicken Parmesan. It is two chicken tenders, melted Parmesan cheese, in this sweet spaghetti sauce . It was nasty. My wife had beef tips mash potatoes and broccoli. The beef tips were steak with NO gravy ( very dry gravy). The broccoli was frozen. Several of them was still cold. Then we had the cinnamon sugar churros. First no dipping sauce was inside the box. And they were just plain nasty and dry. My first and last vist. I would take pictures but I refuse to dig through the trash to take pictures. read more

It took several minutes for the waitress to bring our waters and menu. The food was mediocre. I got (brown) avocado toast, grits, and hash browns with cheese. My Son in-law and I dined at this Metro last Friday evening. We ended up there after a disastrous experience down the road with poor service and hairy food. The service and the food at this Metro could not have been better. We both had the chicken and waffles for dinner. Every bite of chicken was cooked perfectly as was the waffle. We love Metro and usually visit the Inverness location. We had occasion to visit the Trussville location tonight. It was NOT good. The service was poor, and the food was worse! Chicken pot pie was inedible and the Greek salad had half the ingredients in quantity and type. Food came one at a time, with one dish delivered mid-dinner. Staff was loud and raucous, entertaining themselves despite customers being present. We couldn't hear each other at our table. We won't return! read more

I never complain but the little hostess obviously did not want to seat a party of 11. We didn't mind having an hour wait but after an hour and 20 minutes we inquired about of time. The little girl said she could care less. No manager offered to help us and her little host friends were basically no help. Finally a manager( at least I think she was the manager finally pulled some tables over. After seating we waited another 20 min at that point I inquired if we could get our sever for drinks. The Service was awful took 30 minutes to get a server and it was because I wore a badge and was carrying a weapon. It's an upscale casual eatery, and they do make good food here. The menu seems to be more abridged compared to the other locations that I've visited in the past, but there's still plenty of selection for just about anyone. They're usually pretty crowded during the usual breakfast or lunch hours, and it's easy to see why. The food is excellent, and they do a thorough job of making sure that your order is accurate. Even though this location doesn't have a liquor license (they can only serve beer or wine for alcoholic beverages), they do have a nice selection of beer and wine, and have some most interesting ways of making the usual mixed drinks out of wine instead of vodka. Their Bloody Mary made with wine is actually very tasty. The serving staff is quite energetic, and they show you all of the options, on the tablet screens, that are available with your entree. This place gets a 5 star review from all 4 members of my family!!!!! Starting with the extremely friendly waitress (Emma!). She made us feel right at home and had the best suggestions and advice. The kids meals were spectacular. Lots of food! I had the waffle and added a side of hash browns - both were absolutely perfect! Hubby had a burger and couldn't quit raving about it. Every bite brought more comments - juicy, full of flavor, and perfect amount of heat from the roasted jalapeños.
