This was my first time ordering takeout from Metro Diner and I was highly impressed! Despite the fact that this restaurant is always busy, our food was ready immediately when we got to the restaurant! We had no wait time at all. I tend to notice that sometimes takeout orders end up a little bit soggy once I get home, but by putting the gravy in separate containers, this was avoided entirely! We also asked for ketchup when we got there, and the staff was kind enough to give us a ton! My only complaint is that the eggs Benedict wasn't offered as a carry out option, however I'm sure this is due to the fact that the quality of the food may not be as great because of the car ride. read more

Wow! Amazing food and service. Bf had chicken and waffles. The chicken was crispy and delicious. The waffles had strawberry butter (YUM) and they brought out a sweet/spicy syrup that was amazing! It was huge!! Served with a back, breast, leg, and wing. I had the sweet/spicy chicken biscuit. It was super good too!! Was at Metro Diner yesterday. Although the server was very friendly and provided great service, I noticed many wonderful items have been removed from the menu. I ordered a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich with mushrooms and slaw. The cole slaw was great but the sandwich had "VERY"little meat! It was more like having a cheese, onion, green peppers and mushroom sandwich. I was very disappointed and I've been to Metro Diner often. Do not waist your time and money of the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich. My friend ordered fried fish and said it was great. Wish they would bring back their Monte Cristo Sandwich. Wow! We were so happy with our dinning experience. The food is priced well. The chicken was exceptional, as welll as the hash browns. I had the shrimp and grits. It was very tasty, my only disappointment was it came with a grit cake instead of a bowl of grits. And that's because I have a problem with textures, but it was very good. Nice atmosphere. I actually first saw this location in Florida, and had been contemplating visiting for a long time. Never had the chance until recently. Was on the southsithside and I had some friends who had been before and highly recommended it. Located in greenwood in a strip mall you can find metro diner, it's large, was very crowded, and quick service! We put our name in and waited only 10 minutes! Which was impressive with how packed it was. We were seated in the middle of the room and were greeted right away and asked if we wanted drinks. They have bloody Mary's! My favorite drink! For only 2.99! They also have mimosas which I'll order next time. The menu is extensive, and has a combination of breakfast and lunch items. Breakfast is the best so that's why I decided to check out what they had to offer. I had the breakfast pie, I liked this, I'll describe it as a Shepard's pie, but with breakfast ingredients and a cheese top. For a side I had what I call shredded hash browns. All around an awesome experience and I'll be back to metro diner, plenty more to eat! read more

I am kicking myself for not going to Metro Diner before this morning. Hands down the best breakfast in Greenwood. Our kids split cinnamon roll pancakes, which were huge, and our son ordered kids chicken and waffle afterwards... which were also excellent. I loved the chicken tenders that went with it- juicy and well seasoned. The strawberry butter is a really nice touch. My husband got avocado toast and tried everyone else's... loving it all a bit too much. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the entire menu is available all day, so I ordered chicken pot pie because I don't particularly like breakfast food. Loaded with chicken, the pot pie is a great lunch or dinner choice. It was absolutely enough to share. The waitstaff was very friendly. We will be back- probably too often. i tried the 3 cheese grilled cheese with seasoned fries and a side of fruit. the grilled cheese was crispy with gooey cheese! it was delicious. the fruit was fresh, it included grapes, cantaloupe and bananas. my boyfriend likes to get the fried chicken and waffles. it comes with a spicy glaze, syrup, and strawberry butter. it is probably one of his favorite places to get fried chicken! the restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. the service is quick and they are very kind. they have serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner options with rotating soups of the day! the restaurant gets pretty busy so i would go when they open or throughout the week! read more

The host and servers were very nice. We sat down and ordered water and MIMOSAS. It was so delicious, it was already pre made and my boyfriend tried it and agreed that it was such a delicious mimosa. We ordered the Chicken and Waffles of course :) our server was so helpful and told us that we could split the meal as it came with a breast, a wing, a leg, and thigh! It also came with two waffles. I have always lived in the south side of Indy and somehow always missed this diner! I only realized it was here when my brother came home from out of state and suggested we eat there for a Saturday brunch. There were surprisingly a couple open parking spots and the diner wasn't insanely packed when we walked in. We were told our wait would be 15-20 minutes, and we may have waited 10 at the most, which is great for a busy morning crowd. After we were seated, we were promptly asked drink orders and advised about the various specials they were currently offering that weren't on the menu. my table decided to order all 3 of their different styles of eggs Benedict. All were very good! Hollandaise sauce was creamy and eggs were cooked perfectly for everyone. Came with hash browns, crispy and delicious. I also ordered myself a short stack of chocolate chip pancakes, which were HUGE, and were just very classic and fluffy pancakes. We were given our check very quickly, which was appreciated, and our waitress was extremely accurate and timely with orders as well. We've fans of the Metro Diners because the food and service is consistently good. We've been to four of the Metro Dinners at Butler University, 86th Street, Plainfield and now Southport Centre on U.S. 31 and enjoyed our experience at each. I really appreciate you can order the entire menu from open to close. Sometimes I want breakfast for dinner or dinner for breakfast. Don't judge! The prices are affordable and the portions are large. A couple additions to note is the menu now has 3 new appetizers, Loaded Chips, Cheesy Tots and a Cheddar Cornbread Waffle. The 3 new dinner items are Pulled Pork Mac Stack, Dijon- Glazed Salmon and Chicken Parm. They show the Braised Beef Tips over Mashed Potatoes as new but it's been on the menu. I like Metro Diner posts their weekly specials on their webpage and sends to my email if you're signed up. This weekend is my all time favorite breakfast which is the Peach Yo Hala special. Thick sliced challah bread stuffed with a peach, brown sugar, caramelized cream cheese filling, grilled like French Toast then topped by peach compote, pecans and sprinkled powdered sugar. All the peach cobblers flavors but taken to the highest level. Rich, creamy filling with all my favorite carmelized peach flavors. Large enough to share if you dare. My husband had one of the other weekend specials. The Red, White and Blue Waffle is a Belgian waffle topped with strawberries, blueberries, whipped cream and sprinkled with powdered sugar. He said it was delicious! A few of our other comfort food favorites is the Biscuits and homemade Gravy served with two eggs and hashbrowns. The Cinnamon Roll Pancake is a cinnamon and sugar pancake topped with cream cheese icing, candied pecans and cinnamon butter. Definitely not low cal but delighful. The Charleston Shrimp and Grits is two fried grit cakes with cheese, Andouille sausage and roasted red peppers. They top the grit cakes with shrimp, sausage, onions and peppers in a shrimp sauce. If that's not enough it's garnished with green onion and chopped bacon. Reminiscent of being in the south and totally scrumptious. The Pot Roast is slow cooked with veggies and served with mashed red skin potatoes. Perfect for a Sunday dinner. A favorite of both of ours is the Chicken Pot Pie. Lots of baked chicken and veggies topped with a homemade biscuit crust. Spend the extra dollar and get the Jumbo size instead of the regular. They also serve a nice variety of burgers and sandwiches. The Reuben is wonderful and everything you want from a Reuben. The Monte Cristo is fried sourdough stuffed with Turkey, ham, cheddar and American cheese topped with powdered sugar. It's served with raspberry preserves to spread on top. Not for everyone but I enjoy it. Many options in the sandwich world. If you haven't been before then stop by one of the Metro Diners. What a busy little place. We were greeted when we walked in. Thought we would have to wait, but only for a moment. The girl seated us and told us the chalkboard was the specials and they server breakfast lunch and dinner all day long. And the board changes daily. I tried the breakfast pie which was scrambled egg,mushrooms onions,peppers and lots of cheese with with cubes of red potatoes And shredded potatoes on the side. Hubby got a half order of biscuits and gravy he loved them. Eggs and shredded potatoes. They have flavored drinks of the day I got peach tea.
