My husband and I came yesterday for the first time and it was phenomenal. We knew it had to be good when we came midday, at 2:30 pm and had to wait 35 minutes for a seat. He had the chicken & waffles and I had the croissant French toast. The batter for the French toast was cinnamon/sugar/vanilla and griddled so the outside was textured and inside was still soft. I stole some of the fresh strawberry butter from chicken & waffles. I'll ask for a side next time because it pairs perfectly with the French toast. We can't wait to return! read more

We visited Metro Diner based on the positive reviews here on Yelp. We wanted to try something new and the menu looked good! Pulling up, we could tell this place was good based on how busy it was! All of the tables were full and there was a decent amount of people waiting for one to become empty. There is indoor and outdoor seating. We put our name in and it was about a 15 minute wait, enough time to wander the pet store nearby. When we did get our text to come sit, we were greeted by our waitress who was absolutely wonderful throughout our meal. If you read my other reviews, you will know the importance of my cup never being empty and sure enough, our waitress made sure our cups were always full. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with a side of grits and my husband ordered the hamburger benedict. Everything tasted so good but I will say, the coffee and meals weren't hot, they were warm at best. We also did not receive the poutine that we ordered but it was never charged on the bill anyways. Overall, everything was fantastic and the grits were one of the best I've ever had as a side dish. My only true complaint was the temperature of the food and coffee. I definitely want to come back, though. The food is innovative and comforting and the portions are huge! read more

Service was very good, attentive and friendly. Food was very good overall. I saw that a lot of people ordered the fried chicken which influenced my hungry stomach. The fried chicken plate was a very generous portion consisting of half a chicken. The coating was well seasoned and lightly crispy...not heavy or greasy! I have a love/ hate relationship with waffles especially Belgian waffles since oftentimes they're not very flavorful & they're kinda doughy. You have the option of choosing it topped cinnamon roll style. I was a bit skeptical since to me it means a super sweet & gooey concoction. It was enlightening to find the waffle perfectly made with a crispy edge and soft center. It was well accompanied by a cinnamon sugar butter with candied pecans. It was scrumptious! Additionally, the mash potatoes tasted too herb-y (like too much paprika) to the point that it was fairly inedible. And the string beans were over seasoned. It's a popular place at popular times, which means Saturday and Sunday breakfast/brunch times for this diner are super popular. There is indoor and outdoor seating plus a small counter so they do have plenty of seats, but do know there can be a wait. They do not take reservations. We got lucky on a recent Sunday to get the last table they had available. It was around 9:45 a.m. By ten there was a wait forming. There were only two of us, but we were given a table in the back that could have held many more, but it was kind of them to not make us wait for a smaller table. Our Server Gal was fantastic. Iced tea for me with lemon. Coffee for Husband. She kept him topped off and that is no easy feat. Both of us couldn't have been happier with our meals. His Biscuits and Gravy could have fed a family of four especially considering they came with eggs (his choice of scrambled) plus hashbrowns. Obscene, but made him super happy. Improve the staff work integrity. I am a regular rather it's through DoorDash or coming in person and once they noticed I was a regular they began to give me mediocre food through DoorDash. They left things off my order and shorten me the quantity at times. They fixed it perfect the next time I ordered bc I left a bad review then went right back to mediocre food. I went in this past Sunday and the server never checked on me after dropping off my food which I didn't trip it was busy.
