3.5 stars! Waitress was on it. Quick and checked in regularly. The wait time wasn't bad at all for a Saturday morning. Maybe 5 mins? Parking situation is tough so expect to circle around a few times. I'm not sure why so many people don't know how to park IN the lines so that prevented us from parking in multiple spots. We parked on the grass on the side road *shrug* The food was pretty good. For Saturday Brunch we were looking for a place and based on the reviews and ratings we decided to have brunch at Metro Diner. Regarding Diner Metro Diner is a diner which is filled with people enjoying the food. They have seating options inside as well as outside. Accessibility There is a great parking lot in the area where metro diner and there is also parking at the backside of metro diner. So there is lot of parking spaces available. One can park in the parking area and directly go into the diner. Wait Time When we went to the diner it was full with people and we had to wait for 10-15 minutes before we were seated on the booth. Service & Food When we were seated on the booth we were greeted by our server Chenin with menus and water. After checking out the menu and discussing with the server we decided to start our brunch with coffee and tea. For food we ordered Cheesy Grits, Chicken Pot Pie, Pumpkin Pancake and coleslaw. First we got our drinks which were coffee and tea. Both drinks were grounded and freshly made. The service was good and we got our food in 5-10 minutes. The food was delicious and we loved each and every food that we ordered. It was cooked pretty well and there are no complaints regarding the food. This morning, we dined at metro diner in Tampa which we usually are happy with. Egg whites had to be sent back twice because they were sour. Couldn't eat. Server seemed indignant that they were cracked from scratch, and manager said they came from the container which she checked and it was in date. Warning: hangry rambling incoming. Metro Diner. A breakfast staple in Tampa, made famous by a visit from Guy Fieri a decade ago. I'm not really a breakfast person, but whenever I did look up breakfast food in Tampa, this was probably the most recommended spot. I should really stop listening to people's opinions on the internet. It's usually a popularity contest rather than about how good the food is. I'm looking at you West Tampa Sandwich Shop. Anyway, I've been here twice now. Each time there was about a 10-15min wait when arriving around 10am on a Sunday, which was to be expected. What was not expected was the inconsistency in their food. The first time I was here, my friend ordered Chicken and Waffles, their signature dish. They got it as tenders rather than bone in, an option I was not given when ordering it the second time I dined in. I was fine with this, as I wanted to try it the way it was originally intended (and pictured on the menu). My friend seemed to thoroughly enjoy their meal, so I wanted to try it the next time we went there, which ended up being the next Sunday (today). Unfortunately the chicken (and somehow the waffle) was overcooked when I ordered it. I literally had to saw with my knife to get through the waffle. And the chicken, while some parts of it were cooked well, was mostly dry. At most diners around town this wouldn't surprise me, but being that it's the signature dish at supposedly the best breakfast spot in town...it was disappointing. They didn't even serve me their mixture of hot sauce/syrup. No biggee though I could figure that part out myself. Anyway, there's better places for chicken and waffles around town. King of the Coop. RyGuys, The Rez, etc. are all better than this place. Don't waste your time here. My husband and I were visiting Tampa for the weekend and we always search for local places for breakfast. We saw that Metro Diner had good reviews so we tried it. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. I ordered the avocado bacon bowl with a side of grits and coffee. My husband ordered the Biscuits and Gravy. I'll start with the good. The coffee was good. And that's where it ends. The only reason I only had one cup of coffee is that our server never once came around to ask if I wanted more. The diner was not at all crowded. The avocado was not fresh. It was wilted and seemed like it was cut the day before and stored in the fridge. The hash browns and the gravy lacked seasoning. The grits were watery. In hindsight, I should have ordered pancakes because the diner smelled deliciously of pancakes. We saw many plaques touting Metro's wonders but honestly, we didn't see it. Always a great place. I love going to Metro Diner on Kennedy whenever we have visitors come to town. The food is amazing. Today I took my youngest daughter. She came to visit me for my birthday and I want to make sure she leaves Tampa with great memories of the great Foodie places I take her too. She had the Spicy Honey Chicken Sandwich. 8/26/23 - Great warm friendly greeting by Janya. It wasn't crowded as we arrived early, so we were asked where we'd like to sit. No sooner had we selected our table than she was already asking if we'd like coffee/water. We were barely seated and she had water and coffee at the table! She said she'd give us a few minutes to look at the menu and return shortly which she did and asked if there were any questions. We asked if any substitutions were allowed, for example a biscuit instead of the toast. That answered all the questions we had and we ordered. It could not have been 10 minutes and our orders 3 Bissell breakfasts that varied a bit from one another given the options and a egg/hash browns and biscuit, along with an offer of more coffee, water, or straws which she explained were provided upon request. The food looked amazing and tasted every bit as good as it looked. Everything was done just perfectly, especially my scrambled eggs which I like firm. How nice that the way food is ordered is what is delivered! Service was fast, but we were not remotely being rushed to leave. Janya is probably THE most experienced server we've had at any place we've eaten breakfast in quite a long time. Friendly. Professional. Efficient and exactly whose we'd want to serve us again. Omg!!! I had been dying to try this place out and I am so glad that we finally did!! The wait was average at about 25 minutes. I found out that you can do call ahead through the app which we will do next time. Our waiter, Juan, was great. He was very helpful, knowledgable when it came to the menu, made suggestions and very attentive with refills and other requests. The food was even better than I had expected. I had heard great things about the chicken and waffles but OMG!! I had never imagined it was THAT good!! Our favorite place for brunch in Tampa! Definitely come down while they have seasonal options, I got the pumpkin waffle while my partner got the pumpkin pancakes. The other people in my party got the chicken and waffles, southwest bowl, steak and scramble bowl, and the coffee of the day which was hazelnut. The pumpkin waffle was perfect, crispy on the outside like a good waffle should be with a nice soft pumpkin inside. The special butters for the pancakes and waffles were also amazing, I especially loved the strawberry one. I recommend you get the coffee of the day any time you come, my favorite one we've had so far was their chocolate coffee! Overall everything was super delicious and our waiter was awesome and brought out everything fast. I was never able to get to the two locations that were open in South Florida before they closed, so we ended up getting takeouts for dinner on our way back to our temporary home. We called and the order was ready in 15 minutes. The diner offers a huge selection of comfort food. Calories don't count on vacations and there was no shame in loving our meals. The Iron City meatloaf, Shepherd's pie, and Mac & cheese were so good. All of the food was cooked and flavored nicely with the easy cleanup of takeout containers and plastic ware. A lot of businesses have been hit hard during this crazy pandemic. I commend the Metro Diner for staying open and the staff working during this unforeseeable time. I've been here a few times and it's pretty good. It's a modern diner that isn't trying to be fancy or elegant, but it still feels a bit more upscale than the average diner. The costs are appropriate, the food quality ranges from average to good. The speed of the food coming out is probably one of this place's stronger points. I have noticed that service has been declining a little lately as I've had to flag down my waiter for things and watched vacant tables stay dirty for very long periods of time. The Bissell Breakfast is just that! It's your stereotypical American diner breakfast and satisfies both sweet or savory foodie demands! So every time I go to Metro Diner, I order the Bissell Breakfast with eggs over easy, breakfast sausages, hashbrowns, biscuit, pancakes, and coffee. It's a lot of food and it's more like a heavy brunch that keeps me full until dinnertime. Then just chalk it up to a cheat day. Or you can be like my friend and take the leftovers home... but I always feel like restaurant breakfast leftovers aren't that great reheated. Indoor dining is spacious, and they do have a decent size patio for limited outdoor seating. If you arrive early for breakfast, there's always plenty of seating of your choice. The staff has always been very attentive and friendly. The parking lot scared me. It's a tight squeeze, too small to accommodate the businesses and the spots are compact sized. I saw someone bump the car next to me while attempting to park. I was centered within my lines yet adjusted so the person next to me could open his door. The lot in the back was just as jam packed. There are TWO breakfast places there! The entire meal I was so nervous about my car, we took turns checking on it. The wait is super long on weekends. We used the app to get in line since it takes us over 20 minutes to arrive and safely park. Otherwise the wait at the door is 45-60 minutes. Once seated the service was outstanding. They offered a two page gluten friendly menu, including plenty of appetizing and hearty breakfast options! I ordered scrambled eggs with hash browns and toast. My date ordered the breakfast pie with hash browns and toast. Our dishes were stacked with huge portions. Everything was delish and inexpensive. What a diner should be. read more

Another favorite stop for me when I'm across the street at Kuhn VW for service- Metro Diner. As soon as I walked in the doors, there was an electric charge of happy morning chatter throughout the dining room and the aromatic scent of freshly grilled bacon wafting through the air! I can't think of a better greeting for breakfast! Well, a hot cup of their fresh brewed coffee is also a worth while welcome to mention! My favorite year round breakfast item on their menu is the crispy, hot Belgium Waffle!
