I wanted to write this review about a month ago, however I wanted to wait until I lived here for a bit. I absolutely love living here. Everyone who works here are amazing. It's such a friendly community with so many amenities. Also, a big shout out to everyone in the leasing office. Natalia is amazing, and made moving an easy and pleasant transition. David, the head of Maintenence is always really reliable. Anything i needed in my apartment he was there to help me put it together! Max is also very helpful whenever I need anything. I have lived here for 3 months and already had to handful of bad experiences in regards to service. First, security is impossible to find especially when you actually need them. Second, I went to the pool on a hot day, a few family members came over and they told us we are only allowed 2 guests. So my family of 5 technically weren't allowed to be there. Ridiculous! Third, I was locked out of my apartment. I called maintenance after 6:00pm and nothing got done for 3 hours!! And the operator helping was saying I would be charged $50 to get someone out to the apartment to open the door. read more

Lived here for a year and I gotta say that the apartment is comfortable. We were on the 6th floor so we had very little disturbances and the walls are pretty sound proofed. The staffs were nice too, and the amenities were great... BUT.. 1. The parking structure is horrible. HORRIBLE. there are blind spots everywhere and cars just speeding down the ramp and turning onto the opposite direction's lane. You could not see the cars coming on the opposite direction until you reach the bend. The blind spot mirrors are a joke, they were not helpful at all. 2. The elevators are always not working or it's always reserved by someone moving in or out. We lived on the sixth floor and there's only 2 elevators. Once there was someone moving so they held the elevator, and the other one was broken. Solution? Walk down 6 flight of stairs. 3. The move out cost. $800 freaking bucks. We spent almost 8 hours cleaning the place. Scrubbing and vacuuming and even wipe the windows. When the move out inspection guy came even though he was there to see if the appliances and electrical were working he commented that the apartment was so clean it looked like it was move-in ready, but yet we were charged $140 for cleaning fees. Carpet replacement and sealing the floor is another $660. The unit has no carpet in the living room, kitchen, and bathrooms. Only the 2 bedrooms have carpet, and that's less than 50% of the unit's size. One room was used as an office so i don't know how dirty that one will get. Yes we have dogs but they were with us for so many years they are well trained and they behave themselves well. For the last 3 apartments (1 was Irvine Company) we lived at, at most, we were charged $400-500 for move out cost. This is ridiculous. My roommates and i just moved in and we only been living here for about a month. And so far we've had nothing but good experiences! For instance today I called maintenance to fix our garage disposal and luckily we got Alan! Alan not only fixed our garbage disposal but anything he found that was not working right he would fix it! I didn't even have to ask him! For instance he noticed the water pressure was abnormally low in our sink and told me "I can make the water pressure higher if you want." MY ROOMMATES AND I THOUGHT THAT THE WATER PRESSURE WAS NORMAL. I kid you not we were using our dishwasher from the moment we moved in because of how annoyed we got from the water pressure. He also fixed other problems in the apartment that again my roommates and I were not aware of! He also took all the necessary precautions when entering my apartment! I wanted to move here last month so I scheduled an appt to go see the apartments, since that first day when i had to keep calling them to arrange appt because they don't answer the phone i should have known it was bad but i end up liking the amenities and apartments that i decided to do the application process, but it was a big mistake, office staff lie about everything, application process, apartments availability dates etc and they don't get back to you when they tell you they will. I am so happy i did not move there i found a much better place where leasing process was easy and painless. read more

Had trouble with our washer for a couple days now. We called the office and they sent somebody over right away. Ben and Allen were very very helpful and nice. I had five work orders that I needed resolved. Mike and Alan were courteous, professional, and effective. They knew how to resolve each problem immediately. I have been here for almost two years and looking forward to when it is time to move out. I am not renewing my lease. They have my unit listed on their site and the rent listed is less than what they offered in my renewal notice! Not cool. The major reason I am moving is the noise from neighbors. My first year here was great. Metropolis was a fairly new complex and they were not at the capacity they are now. I had the best neighbors because I had no issues above or next door. I extended my lease for another year. Eventually new tenants moved in. At first glance, you might think the apartments are nicely built and has enough sound proof. I can hear voices, footsteps, rolling chair, opening/closing of drawers and music. When the upstairs neighbor walks I can hear and feel their footsteps. There are certain areas in my apartment that I can feel my floor shake as they walk around above. Not sure how that happens, but my opinion is poor construction. I can hear conversations and other noises throughout the apartment. It is distracting to hear noises from the above bedroom when I am trying to sleep. Since living here, I started to wear earplugs to bed, but sometimes they are not enough to mute the sounds. I work from home. During the day I wear noise cancelling headphones, sometimes they are not even on, but I put them on to drown out the heavy bass music and noises coming from the neighbors. When I was taking a tour of the complex, I did ask the leasing agent about the noise and was told that it wouldn't be an issue since there had built a barrier between the floors. Also mentioned if noise was an issue, to bring it up and they would help out. I have reached out to leasing about the noise, but they have been unhelpful due to their corporate policy. Customer service is not their priority if the policies are holding them back from actually helping. I have even gone upstairs to talk to the neighbor when I knew they were home, but they did not answer the door. Gym - When I first moved in, there weren't as many residents since it was a fairly new complex. I did enjoy using the gym, but within a year, it got crowded. Since the gym is really nice for an apartment complex, I feel like it attracted a lot trainers. Metropolis does have a policy of no personal training allowed unless with one of their assigned trainers, but that policy was not regulated. These gym comments are pre-COVID. Floor plan - I will say that the floor plans are nice. It is spacious with big windows with blackout curtains. For a one bedroom, there is plenty of space and storage. The walk-in closet is spacious and the built-ins are nice. The bedroom size is probably one of biggest ones I've had renting. Pet friendly - You end up seeing a lot of skid marks around the complex as well as puddle of urine and the turf area along the outside has a odor. I wonder if the turf area ever gets a wash. If your neighbor upstairs has a pet, you are likely to hear them scurrying around. I would not recommend Metropolis. I feel like for the price of rent, you deserve a better community and better service. If you have problems and have to reach out to the leasing office, you will get a friendly voice, but they are limited to what they can do and will say they can't help due to the corporate policies. read more

This is going to be somewhat of a long review, I ideally would just like whoever chooses to move to Metropolis to be fully aware of the experience. To preface this, my two-star rating does not necessarily indicate that I've had a horrible time here. In fact, in many ways it's been positive. But for the price that is being charged, there have been too many things that are honestly unacceptable. I'll start with the positives. The room itself is great, spacious and well-designed. The washer, dryer, stove, dishwasher, and other appliances are functional and better than what you get from most apartments. Not much natural light in our room as we are facing the pool area but that was clear before we moved in. Additionally, the gym is top notch for an apartment complex, the pool area is nice, location is good, and with a few exceptions the grounds are kept relatively clean. I come home each day and enjoy the space that I live in. However, there have just been too many issues, starting with the move-in process. I had hired a mover and called in three days before to ensure that everything was ready to go and that as soon as I got there, I would receive my key and be able to immediately move in. I was assured that everything was good to go. When I actually got there, I was told that both of us were missing paperwork and I would not receive my key until they were filled out. My roommate was at work and not reachable for a period of time, so I was literally just forced to sit there in the lobby until he finished his meeting, all while my mover sat there in the uHaul charging me fees for having to wait. This would be totally reasonable had I not literally called days before to ensure this exact situation would not happen. Since we have moved in, we have had the following issues (long list) with our room: the garbage disposal has now broken three times, we lost power to our living room and it took them four days to fix it, one of the doors was broken upon move-in. The fire alarm went off numerous times in the middle of the night our first month, although this seems to have been fixed. When I first used the oven, the entire apartment smelled like gas and maintenance had to come fix it because the oils had not been burned off properly. We have had leaks both in the laundry area and twice in the master bathroom, all of which took days to fix. Probably the worst was that our upstairs neighbors were having domestic disputes until 3am every single night (full on screaming) for three months, and the Metropolis team was generally non-responsive to our complaints. Additionally, when we called the on-call security, which was most nights, they went to the wrong room or simply didn't attend to the matter, which was revealed to us later on. After three months of dealing with this every single night, they finally had an argument explosive enough where they were evicted. Aside from a phone call to alert me that they had vacated the premises, there was absolutely no communication regarding the three months of this that we experienced. Not that I necessarily expected anything, but something like "we're sorry you had to deal with this horrible situation for months on end, here's a few hundred bucks off your rent next month" would have been nice, especially since it was communicated repeatedly that it was a quiet community with no tolerance for excessive noise after 10pm during my tour. Maybe I'm being a little unfair here and it's not really the fault of the team, but man it would have been great if any sort of solution were proposed because I had a miserable first three months in Irvine while spending 3 hours a night hearing two people scream at each other at the top of their lungs. Quick summary: nice room, great amenities, poor management, slow maintenance response to important issues, lots of things breaking in our "brand new" unit. Maybe we just moved in before the room was really ready. At this point I do not expect to renew my lease when it ends in a few months. read more

The only thing that is good about metropolis is that they have a nice pool, and a useful gym but their apartments are build with a very cheap material because even when you talk normally all neighbors can hear you. There is a weird security sometimes he come to the apartment and says that he just wanted to make sure that we are going to be quiet when it was not 10:00 pm yet! Just because he saw 3 guests were going to the apartment! If you looking for a place that keep checking upon you this is the place for you!! read more

This review is for Noel, the maintenance technician who saved our toilet. My kid decided to try and flush a small Vaseline tub down the toilet, which caused a plug so bad Noel had to physically detach the toilet from the floor, flip it upside down and snake the little sucker out! He saved us from hundreds of dollars $$$! Noel has come to the rescue multiple times, each with the upmost professionalism, genuine care and concern for us residents. Thank you Noel! read more

Community is decent but when you move out be prepared for them to take all of your deposit. I left my apartment in pretty damn good condition and still got charged ~$1,500 in "repair" expenses. I have OCD and keep my apartment flawless but they'll charge for standard wear and tear, so just be prepared. read more

Ughh super unfriendly unprofessional staff! They lost my ID and didn't even offer to pay for the replacement. I asked them multiple times to check the camera to see where it was placed and they said they can't do that because they aren't allowed to show me anything they record. They just basically acted like nothing happened and didn't take any responsibility for the lost ID. read more

The units are nice but the complex itself is loud and dirty. They are not worth the cost of rent. You can find better communities for less money if you want to live in Irvine. The rules are enforced completely arbitrarily. They say no smoking but if your unit is on the outside you will routinely smell smoke on your balcony or wafting in an open window. Additionally I see people walking dogs in the apartment that are on the restricted breed list. I love dogs but it just goes to show they don't enforce their own rules which is why cigarette butts and trash liter the stair wells and parking garage, your parking spot is never safe, and noise complaints go unanswered for weeks. If you are a smoker and a very deep sleeper this complex is probably a good option but I am neither so this is not for me. read more

Thought this was going to be temporary but 2.5 years later... still calling Metropolis my home while still in the arduous search for a home in Orange County. Best part of hanging my hat here is the staff. Katrina, the Events Director is so dedicated to her job the she goes above and beyond; delivering packages, keeping folks in check with dumping trash in common area, pool/gym crowd control, and even guard duty with being on lookout for suspicious activities in parking areas. That much care for her workplace, makes me rest well at night. Also, big shout out to Victor and crew for always being on top of my maintenance requests with an incredible attitude and disposition. So we moved into on April 1st. I have never had a community make our move so easy. We worked mostly with Natalia and she is amazing. As for the community, it is beautiful. Our view from the 7th floor is one of the best in OC. The neighbors are all super nice who we have met. It is quiet because the walls are not super thin like other communities. You can only hear if people have people over when you walk by their doors it seems like. The pool is great and never crowded. It has a nice fitness center yet we still go to Equinox down the street but I do my cardio in the morning there. We haven't used the bowling alley but did have friends with kids use the arcade and they loved it. As for needed maintenance, our smoke alarm battery was beeping and they had it fixed immediately and even followed up to make sure it was. I am not sure why these people posted negative things about the maintenance on here but so far it has been amazing. They always say hello and even gave a name of a painting company to do our walls. So to sum it up, this place is a great high end luxury complex. Everyone in the office is very nice and will help you when you need something. It's clean, good people in here, and a great location. As for the negative reviews, I think people have a little bit too much time on their hands. read more

Here's a question for you Metropolis, how much water am I allowed to use to clean the patio? On March 22nd, per our conversation in January with Douglas, the contractors were coming to put a drain extender on our drains so that it wouldn't splash on our downstairs neighbor's patio. Contractor is out sick, but Metropolis was going to send someone to take some measurements. They show up and say everything is fine, it must be the wind that blows the water onto the downstairs neighbors patio. Sure. So two days later I sweep my patio and try out my new pressure washer. Per our January conversation with Douglas, I said I was willing to try using a pressure washer to use less water. I'm out there for about 30 minutes, cleaning the patio. About 30 minutes after I've finished and am on the golf course, I get a call from Metropolis front office saying I've used too much water and it fell on the downstairs neighbor's patio. It wasn't windy that day. Now I get a cease and desist letter from their attorney's that I am using excessive water on my balcony and that the dirty water from cleaning the balcony is "falling from [my] balcony onto their patio directly below (including onto their patio furniture)." I don't think 30 minutes of hosing off a patio is excessive use of water. Douglas from Metropolis admitted that the drainage is not correct and that they have put drain extenders onto other apartments. Why are they blaming me instead of fixing the drainage issue?? Maybe it is retaliation for my previous review or my previous complaints? read more
