Way too noisy. If you're a URI student, you'll probably feel at home. Everyone else is better off at any of the fine places in Wakefield or Gansett. While they have a good beer selection, the food is less than average and the prices are on the high side for what you get. The food is great -- on the pricier side, but great -- but I was disappointed by the beer, especially since that's part of it's reputation. I ordered a Guinness, which is for some a difficult beer to pour properly, since it traditionally requires a two-part pull and around 1-2 minutes to create the jet black, sturdy bottom and the rich, velvety, meringue-like head. But I got the beer in under a minute, with large bubble on a scant patch of foam. I'm not sure if it was pulled using only CO2 (& no nitrogen, which is typical), or if the waitress assumed that since I'm younger, I wouldn't know any better, but I could tell immediately that it was wrong. read more

I've had good service here no matter what area i'm seated in. Sometimes it can get a little noisy when it's crowded in the main dining area. The Celtic Pub has a bunch of TVs and music but the volume isn't overpowering. Food is fantastic, I primarily get pizza or the Mew's Mac. The only food I haven't like wasn't due to taste but the small portion, the Homemade Mozzarella Triangles are $10 and only come with three. I've never had a mix up with my drink and i've been in all three sections for years. I was in the dollar room for my 21st and it was slam packed and they were punctual with my green Gator bowl. I was in around the beginning of June and my server was nice and attentive. Would recommend coming here, it's worth any wait. read more

I live in San Diego & was in RI for my grandmother's 90th birthday. Afterward, my cousins decided that we should go to Mew's for dinner. I'm glad they did! A great beer selection by any standards, and the concept of having the bar/waiting room while you wait for a table is a great idea. I had the fish & chips and was impressed with the size of the piece of haddock they serve. I loved Mew's & would go back the next time I'm in RI (even though it's a 30 minute drive from Warwick). I've been here many times, and the food is always good. Not great, but good. And the menu is extensive, so you're guaranteed to find something you like. At times it can be crowded - especially with URI students - but it's generally more quiet upstairs and the fact that it's big means you won't usually have a long wait. The food is pub food, you get what u pay for. The servers in the pizza seating pay little attention to customers. While taking my order, I specifically said please no corn in cob salad. It was loaded with corn. I feel if the server had been paying attention to me instead of talking to someone sitting at the pizza bar, my order would have come as I ordered it. The menu is top notch modern and classic pub-fare but the food prep can be a little inconsistent depending on the time you go. We are bar people so Mews provides plenty of barstools in different locations in their restaurant. Its also a family place. Its fun its loud always busy always accomodating. The burgers and pizzas here are hard to beat. I would also recommend the buffalo chicken dip, which is delicious. There are, of course, tons of beers to choose from, a full bar, and a some cocktails on the menu that are pretty good. The only thing here that isn't good are the nachos. The chips tend to taste stale and oily. It seems like the kind of place were the nachos should be amazing, so we've tried them a few times, but they just aren't that good. Oh well, it is a huge menu with a lot of good food on it, no use crying over nachos. The vibe is pleasant in the tree room for dinner - not too loud but not formal at all. The dollar room is good for more of a party atmosphere. The staff has always been unfailingly polite and competent. I've never had reason to complain about service and because the place is large, I haven't run into any long waits, even on a busy Saturday night. read more

I sat at the wood fire pizza bar and was fortunate enough to speak with a man named Justin Raymond a peacedale local. I couldn't help but engage this man as I witnessed him tossing pizzas by hand! He explained to me in great detail how mews uses only the best ingredients. As a consumer its rare to stumble accross a business these days with enthusiastic employees! So, this used to be my favorite bar. 3 stars because I still sneak in after winning the medical lawsuit, and I truly used to love this place. The place where I was more than happy to go and let the bartender charade like they actually knew how to tend bar. Used to never have a problem. And then one night, after having a nice dinner, no problems, I went to jump Scooch my seat. Anybody who has been to any bar has jump scooched. But this particular shuffle, the seat was detached from the base. My finger got caught, fractured, snapped in half, nail full disappeared, and then I became the asshole. The manager on duty, the bouncer, and one of the male bartenders did their best, and exceeded at handling the situation with some decency, but one of the entitled beer pourer woman took it upon herself to disregard any formal sense of humanity. Ever since then, some blue collar sucker that used to pay $7 for a pint of some bullshit isn't allowed to the one place that sells some $7 bullshit, i miss going to mews, but I don't the better than you attitude. Really enjoy going here and have been for many years. Went early afternoon and it wasn't over crowded or too loud yet. Shared the BBQ Pork Nachos and Buffalo Chicken Tenders which were both delicious and had a couple of drinks. The bartender checked on us just enough and was very pleasant.
