I've been going to Mexican Fiesta in Dearborn Heights for fifty years. The food is consistently good.

Just had dinner at Mexican Fiesta. Haven't visited in maybe 10 years. The chicken fajitas were bland and overall unappealing. The chicken was boiled and lukewarm. It didn't come out on a skillet like expected. The beans had a weird taste. They gave us a plate with a handful of lettuce and shredded Colby jack cheese straight out of the bag. There was even two packets of sour cream on top of it all. I'm good for another 10 years. read more

So disappointing. I don't know what's going on here. We used to go all the time when we lived in Michigan and visited after we moved. This time was noticeably bad. Chips and salsa are as good as always. My daughter and son in law ordered chicken burritos with all rice since they do not like refried beans. When their plates came out they had beans and rice. They told the server and she said she could get it replated. They said ok because they didn't like the beans touching their burritos. She left their plates on a table next to us for about five minutes and then took them in back. She came back with obviously the same food on another plate but there was still beans on parts of the burritos. They ended up cutting that part off but it was not the right way to do it. My husband and I had beef burritos and tacos. Burritos were still good but smaller. Tacos were not as good as usual. Overcooked and mostly lettuce. Rice and beans had no flavor and the beans were runny which is probably why it ended up on the chicken burritos My son in law asked for cheese to put on his rice and she said she could bring a small size of some cheese or queso. It turned out to be a pretty big bowl of melted velveeta with maybe some spices? Definitely not something you'd put on rice. He did put some on it but there was so much left. And when the bill came they were charged 6.95 for it. They didn't want to say anything but I would have Just not the place we are used to and it's sad read more

Always a favorite place for mexican food. Highly recommend the 'mini' super tostada.....crispy tostado with meat, beans and lots of melted cheese, then topped with lettuce, chopped onions, green peppers, olives, jalapeño, tomato, and lotd of avocado. So much better than the typical taco salad that you can get anywhere . Accompanied by free chips and salsa and an amber dos equis what's not to love. $12.46 with 16oz beer, not including tip. BTW they also offer the 'regular ' super tostada. ...never have seen it as the "mini" is too big for me to finish. read more

This place is the definition of a Dirty Sanchez. There's nothing exceptional about a Mexican restaurant located on Ford Road, which rivals the depths of hell as the worst place in a real or fictional society. The inside is about as dimly lit as an R Kelly shrine inside a local teenagers closet. The grease and debris could be scrapped off the floor and used to ignite next years Burning Man fire. It's apparent that I'm not a fan of this establishment, but the nostalgia of stuffing my fat face with cheese enchiladas and endless chip baskets speaks volumes to my true feelings. Mexican Fiesta has never been about eating at a hip clean mexican style restaurant, because to be honest the inside has looked outdated since it opened. Don't get your hopes up for some south of the border flare because your hopes will quickly turn into 7 gassy bathroom trips. 3 stars for nostalgia... I'll be on the toilet. read more

This place is a hit or miss with there food along with the staff. I really use to enjoy coming here but now I end up going else where when craving Mexican food. The food is always at great portions, and many times you'll end up taking it home because you'll have left overs. But the taste isn't always there. Sometimes you'll get dishes that too bland and you'll have season it yourself other times it's great. So maybe the cooks don't keep a straight recipe. Also ordering the same dish twice you'll get different things or different portions of it. The margaritas are always great. Especially getting a picture and sharing it with the table. You get different flavors as well which is always great and you can change it up. read more

Celebrated my birthday with 4 friends today at Mexican fiesta. The food was great; two bowls of chips, 2 carafe of sauce and a bowl of hot sauce. Waitress was solicitous, gave us time to select our food, came back several times to see if more of something was needed. The only negative part was the noise level. The music was way too loud, even asking if it could be reduced. We sat at a round table and had to speak loudly to be heard among ourselves. It was just too noisy to have a comfortable conversation. Would gladly give 4 stars for food and service, but 1 star for ambience because of the noise. read more

I've been eating at this place for more than 15 years. Wow, I'm getting old! I remember it as a delicious, affordable Mexican restaurant. I think for the most part that still stands true. When Mexican Fiesta is good, it's as good as almost any Mexican food place I've been. However, I have had a couple meals there that were a bit too salty or one that lacked seasoning. I take that as consolation though that they're probably cooking the stuff themselves so it isn't always homogeneous. As for the menu: I love the beef flautas or the enchiladas. they have pretty good Chimichangas as well. As a bigger guy, I like that they have large portions and that they provide free chips/salsa on arrival. They also have a decent vegetarian selection for the in-law's. If you're drinking, bring a partner, and it will make monetary sense for you to get a pitcher of margaritas, which are usually quite good, but last time they were a bit salty. If you're bringing a group: they don't accept reservations on the weekends, you might wait 30-40 minutes. It's worth it! read more

My cousin invited me out and I chose this place because I hadn't been there yet. The conversation with my Cuz was the high point of the meal. The parking lot is perpetually full, so it was difficult to find a good spot (it's a shared, smallish lot). The inside is laid out oddly, but it's clean and has a pleasant vibe. Décor is reminiscent of what us norteamericano's expect a Mexican eatery should look like (but usually doesn't). Service was very good; polite, happy, and attentive, but not overly so. That's it for anything nice I can say. I guess I should stop here (according to my mom's old saying anyway). I'll Yelp on however, in true Yelp fashion. The tortilla chips brought as an appetizer were bland and cold. Clearly not fresh, and utterly forgettable. The salsa's (both hot and mild) may well have been made somewhere EAST of New York City (think about it...). The guacamole looked good, but was utterly flavorless. I ordered the "Cheesy Enchiladas"; 2 chicken, 1 beef. The chicken was basically canned shredded chicken with very little flavor. The beef was a VERY poor quality of ground meat (beef?) and was equally lacking in flavor. I also found a random piece of onion (a large slice) in one, and a single black olive in another. Neither were repeated. ??? There was a bare minimum of any sauce on the enchiladas (neither rojas nor verdes), but they WERE smothered in a bland mix of shredded, melted cheese. The accompanying rice was "blah" , but the refried beans were pretty decent and helped the rice out some. This is one of the few restaurants outside of a Coney Island or diner where I've had to go up and pay at the counter. The price wasn't awful, or I might have been infuriated instead of merely annoyed. I won't be back. I've exhausted all of the Mexican restaurant offerings in Canton, and found them utterly disappointing. read more

Much like the original location the Canton restaurant has longevity and is usually very busy. This visit was for carry out. The order was ready on time, correct and well packaged. The pizza box for the large botana works great. All the food was still hot when we got home. We go the fiesta mexican salad and chicken fajitas. The salad was very colorful (chicken, ham, bacon, onion, lettuce, tomato, olives, green pepper...) and the chicken fajitas were pretty good. Like what Darin E. said, they add mushrooms and tomatoes to the fajitas too. I personally like tomatoes so I though they were good. The meal came to $24 with tip for the 2 of us. There were leftovers enough for a snack and a lunch. Service is really good, the waiter was very helpful. I haven't tried their burritos though, next time I'll try that. Overall, not bad. read more

Had take out picked up, charged for using credit card, notified after the fact. Then, after driving 20 min to get home, no chips, but definitely charged for them. Second time this happened. I usually get a large order and it annoys them when I go through all my stuff at pickup. My daughter picked it up anyways and she didn't check. We call them and the girl was totally rude, "I packed your order myself and it was there". Not:( Then she proceeded to say they are closing so there's nothing to be done. How convenient. It seems every time there is an issue they never want to fix it. It's a shame, food is pretty good, but I think I'm done. We've been loyal customers for years, supporting during shutdown by ordering takeout. Saturday night we arrived 815pm and were told the dining room is closed. I explained that we'd been in two weeks ago and the dining room closed at 9pm so we had ordered our food to go. I asked if they couldn't seat us this time since they were still busy and we assumed they'd stop seating at 9pm. The manager said, "Don't you care about keeping my employees alive??" One of my favorite Mexican places when in town. I always get the Botana and Guac. Both are very good. Prices are reasonable. I haven't ever had bad wait-service but the hostess staff is occasionally poor, especially this last trip. But it didn't impact the overall experience. read more

My husband and l had the worst humiliating experience dining here this evening. Coming in and being seated was a breeze however our server was awful! we sat and watched her for about 20 minutes service other tables and new guest that were seated after us but we continued to be patient. After stare offs she finally asked us were we ready to order my husband asked if we could have chips and salsa like the rest of the parties it took her 10 minutes to come back with that just for her to serve other tables again before us And one of the parties were before us but the other had gotten there after us. She comes to take our order in a rush no pen or pad in hand we can't even fully get out what we wanted because she was speaking over us so my husband got the chicken flautas no cheeses no sour cream.. of course she brings back his food with cheese on the top so he scraps it off and we say nothing because clearly we are not a priority so we just want to eat and leave, half way through he notices that there is cheese on the inside so we call her over and she tries to lie and say there wasn't cheese on the outside when there was I showed her the part we scrapped off and the shows her the feeling with cheeses in it she then goes to apologize but says "what do you want me to do about it" I politely said there's nothing you can do about its the matter of my husband being sick all night and tomorrow due to him being allergic lactose My husband is also a paralyzed so the affects of dairy is 10x worst. All of this could have been avoided with a pen and pad being used and also treating all guest equally great Job Nancy at ruining our date night we will never come bother you again . read more

Mexican Fiesta in Canton has gone down hill over the past few years. Quality of food has gone down while prices have gone up quite a bit. Have talked to several friends from the Canton area and they were pretty much in agreement. I would recommend other Mexican restaurants in the area in you are looking for good Mexican food. I usually only frequent this restaurant every couple of months, but when I do I always have a great time! I know exactly what I am going to get when I go there in terms of service, quality of food and that is important to me when I go out after a crazy day of work. The menu is extensive and has great prices, daily deals and an extensive drink menu. My favorite thing I just got this evening was the pitcher of sangria to split with my mom! A decent sized pitcher of sangria for only $16 to spilt between us. Also, I love their queso! It's not my favorite but it does the trick! Maybe it's a little too thick? The food is a 5, however the service from the young lady working pick up this evening is a 1. After waiting outside for 50 minutes I went in to see how much longer and she said I was texted. No text. She immediately said I put in the wrong phone number and proceeded to repeat a number that was one number off of what my number is. And it was not put in wrong, she dialed it wrong. I can't believe I haven't written a review about this place before. We've been coming here for years. It is our hometown go-to Mexican restaurant. Generally, we get a combination plate because it has a bit of everything. The enchilada is heavy on the cheese, but we like it that way. Pinto beans on the tamale are always fresh and the tamale itself is moist and flavorful. Love the tacos in fresh corn tortillas and the crunchy tostadas. Chips are never too salty, and they give everyone individual salsa cups so you can mix just the right formula of spicy and mild. We also love their fajitas. You can get them with steak, chicken, and shrimp all together. Veggies are always sautéed just right. Portions are plentiful, as other people have noted. The nachos are amazing. As I said, we've been coming here for years for both dine in and carry out. The service is always great and the food quality is consistent and delicious. Carry out is always accurate. Be prepared for a wait during peak times, but the staff is plentiful, tables are turned quickly, and hostesses do a great job of seating folks as soon as possible. read more

Every time we come the service is getting worse and the food today was disgusting. Asking for no gravy on the Mexican sandwich which I do every time today I was told all the meat comes in gravy so they strained my meat after I sent it back. Ummmmm disgusting! The cooks actually sent that message via our waitress. Hubbys enchiladas were soaked in grease. We were told not to order the frozen drinks because they are pre-made and always watered down. Apparently the family members that run the Dearborn location do a much better job! Sad to see a family tradition being treated this way! We will not be back! read more

I do not like the rice here. There's something about it it's too thick and tomato pasty. I've given this place more than one chance and it's been OK for me. Overall. I had not been here in a while and I was meeting a friend for a Mexican meal and Margarita. It is off the busy Ford Rd in Canton. On entering the parking lot it was packed! Fridays are obviously busy. I beleive they share parking with a high rise in the back. I finally found a spot near the back. On entering I just assumed I would be waiting. I was seated quickly. EXCELLENTE AND GRACIAS!!! I ordered a margarita with a nice kick of amaretto. The other nice thing is that you can also order a 1 or 2 liter. I settled for the regular. They also had the warm chips with 2 kinds of sauces; hot and mild. I like mixing the two so that was a nice addition. I also got the 3 combo with Beef taco, cheese enchilada and chicken taco. Pretty tasty and authentic. No Taco Bell here! They also give you plenty of food. The waitress was nice and really attentive. My friend was on a 30 day meatless diet and she was really accomadating to get her a stir fry veggie with no sauce. Thank you for your wonderful patience and service! Her dish wasn't very flavorful and her Pina Colada (Virgin) was watered down apparently so much to the point that she didn't want it anymore. This is by far our favorite "Americanized" Mex restaurant around. So much so that we still drive more than 30 minutes to get there and risk the possible wait. You can expect a 15-20 minute wait on an average Friday night visit that usually goes by quicker than estimated. They don't have a bar to sit at but you can order drinks from the counter in case you want to sip on a margarita or one of their other delicious alcoholic drinks while you wait. Once you get to your table you'll be greeted with warm tortilla chips and salsa and a friendly server. I have had a number items here but usually stick to chicken & cheese enchiladas with rice & cole slaw sides. Yes, cole slaw is an option and it's my favorite, ever. You really can't go wrong with their enchiladas, they're sooo good. Other faves include a beef chimichanga, beef enchiladas, and tostadas. The portions are very generous and service is generally awesome. LIke Charles W. says, if you're looking for taqueria style food, you're not going to find it here. Very cheap restaurant policies that are on the verge of satire, combined with the service enthusiasm of a Secretary of State Office make this embarrassing dump of a "Restaurant" something totally worth skipping. It's too bad really, because I have been a loyal customer of this establishment for the previous 10+ years. The absolute decline of quality is saddening as owners pursue profits over patrons!! 1) lazy waitstaff is more concerned with taking your order and playing "peek-a-boo" the rest of the time than attending to your table. Waitress argued about bringing the check up to the register with us, and would intentionally avoid our table during the meal. Service is consistently bad, and my past few visits have been even worse. 2) "1 refill limit" on drinks - this one blows my mind... I'm paying $2.50 for a glass of soda and I only get one refill? Absolutely horrendous... the cost of another glass of pop from the fountain is NEGLIGIBLE for the restaurant operating cost... the gross margin on fountain drinks are a MINIMUM of 90%, meaning that out of the $2.00 I pay for that glass of soda, the restaurant is making over $1.80 pure PROFIT. I could bring my own 2-liter from home and still get better value... absolute disgusting greed from the management. 3) "corn chip conservation" by restaurant - limit of one basket of chips per table. At first this one seems reasonable - but hear me out. My table ordered a large guacamole (the huge crock one that costs $21.00), and the waitress REFUSED to bring us another basket of chips. What? I'm spending $20+ on an appetizer for my table and you are still refusing to bring me more chips required to eat said appetizer? (I get it if I sat there for 5 hours eating chips and refusing to leave, but really?) During my meal you are going to refuse more chips? Absolutely batty and insane! The hot, warm, and unlimited chips were half the reason we used to come to this restaurant - but yet again, greedy management is finding even more ways to scam an extra nickel out of customers. Normally these things wouldn't be a big deal for me, but the price I am paying for this restaurant food does NOT match the experience I'm getting. There is a surplus of Mexican restaurants in the area that are more worthy of my patronage.. places where management doesn't pinch pennies at the expense of throwing away dollars! I have been eating here since I was a little girl. All the Mexican food I eat is compared to meals I have eaten here. Everything is fresh. The bar is always hopping, the margaritas are really good. But the food is the star. I recommend the combination plate, the wet burritos, the meat and cheese enchiladas and the botanas. All are top shelf.
