    Camarones a la Diabla

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Walked in at 6 pm on a monday and the first thing I noticed was a very moldy sour smell. Not sure what that was about but it immediately reduced my appetite[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Their was one server and one busser, and it took way too long to get out order in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I will say that the ambience was very nice, with traditional Mexican paintings and nice seating area. They had sports on a big screen and no music. Probably good for some and bad for others[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I order the Panchito, a combination of Chile relleno, tamale, enchilada, beef taco, rice and beans. My wife order the Camerones a la Diabla. My mom ordered the Chile Verde. Trust me when I tell you not a single bite was apealing...in fact the beef was questionable in color and smell. I feel like they microwave old food and throw a bunch of cheese on top to mask it. I would rather have visited the taco bell next door, honestly at least I wouldn't feel sick after. It saddens me to give two stars to a restaurant but I feel its important for others to know...stay away from this one.

Ate on Tuesday January 13th around 12pm with my mother, she wanted Tuesday Tacos, We were passing, La Mirada and Leffingwell, so we went to Mexico 1900,I introduced this restaurant Mexico 1900 to my mother as authentic Mexican restaurant established in 1900, 126 years ago, now his grand son is running the restaurant, Which is not true. But that statement worked on her, she said food is good because they are true Mexican food Large portion and tasty food

This was one of my favorite places to eat but I'm rethinking it today. I went today for my birthday and customer service was not what it used to be. Not only did the prices go up and the portion size got smaller and customer service who? I guess it's time to find another place to that server good Mole

Taco plate and taco n chile rellenos plate (serves alcohol as well)

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Business has been here for a very long time but is kept clean and comfortable to enjoy a good meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Remember going years ago... what remains is good food, nice environment and friendly staff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Prices are a bit on the high side for mexican food but if in the area I'd stop by.

Grew up going here, and so did my mom. Been here forever and is a staple Mexican spot in la mirada. Amazing food, and quick service.

The food was amazing, very flavorful, colorful, and served with grace. Our waiter was fantastic, and the owner was just amazing. He was extremely friendly and made sure everything was okay. The drinks were delicious, the Asada plate was wonderful, the meat was so tender and juicy, the chili relleno was different from what you think it would be, but also very delicious. They brought out the chips first, and they were great. The owner let us know everything was fresh and was flown in from Mexico, I believe he said Oaxaca. The guacamole is amazing! Their moles are definitely worth trying. We've had the mole negro and the mole pipián, and both were delicious. The mole negro is a little sweeter, while the pipián has more spice. They also serve tortilla chips with mole, which is something I haven't seen at most Mexican restaurants. The reason I can't give 5 stars is because the service has been hit or miss. We've been here three times. The first time was shortly after they opened. The food tasted decent but came out cold, and the service wasn't the best. It was during the week and not very busy, so we figured they were still working out the kinks of being a new restaurant. After some time, we decided to give them another try. We went on a busy Friday night and were seated right away. The service was much better and everything seemed to be running more smoothly. We talked with the owner who was working as well as his wife who was bartending. They were both really friendly, and the owner seemed genuinely happy that we came back after we told him about our first experience. He even gave my husband a free beer after we moved to the bar to keep drinking after we finished our meals to allow for other guests to dine at the table we were. There was also a trio playing that night which added to the ambiance and was a nice way to end the work week. Our most recent visit was a couple of weeks ago for my husband's birthday. It was during the week and once again they were short-staffed. There was only one waitress taking care of the entire restaurant. She was so sweet and hustling the whole time but she was also bartending while serving every table. We definitely had to pack our patience because she was doing the best she could. Overall, Sol 626 has so much potential to be a great spot. The food, drinks, and atmosphere are what keep bringing us back. They need a little more staffing so the service can be as good as everything else.

Meals, extra plates, napkins, cutlery, pitchers of water, to go boxes and bags all brought without a word. Tables cleared, dessert and fresh plates and forks brought seamlessly. Lindsey even found tape to hang our birthday banner before capturing the quintessential "make a wish" moment! Who does that? Someone who is seasoned, capable and willing to go the extra mile! Even though the restaurant is small and busy, we were seated right away, which was a great start. Our waiter Washington, was fantastic, friendly, attentive, and made our whole experience even better. The atmosphere was perfect too. They had music playing at just the right volume and a big TV showing the live Dodger game, which the kids loved. We started with chips and salsa. The salsa had the perfect level of spice for everyone at the table. The kids ordered horchatas and were excited about the unlimited refills (something you don't always see at other restaurants!). The drinks for the adults were just as impressive. My wife's watermelon margarita on the rocks was perfectly made. It was not overly sweet or syrupy like at some places. Our friends had the "El Jefe" margaritas, and they definitely didn't skimp on the tequila! For dinner, everything was a hit. The kids loved their meals. Albóndigas soup, shrimp tacos, and street tacos--all served with rice and beans. The adult dishes were just as good. The carne asada arrachera was cooked perfectly, the chile verde was full of flavor, and my chicken mole was delicious with a great balance of spicy and sweet without being overwhelming. The portions were very generous, and everything came with rice, beans, and both corn and flour tortillas. The only small thing I would've preferred differently was the chicken in my mole. I personally would've liked a leg and thigh instead of sliced chicken breast but the dish was still very good overall. What really stood out was the hospitality. At the end of the meal, Washington offered us "holy water"-house tequila shots on the house--and it wasn't cheap tequila either! Then after the bill came, he surprised us again with another round of "holy water". That level of generosity and care really impressed us. We also learned that the restaurant has been there 20+ years and is family-run by him and his siblings, which made the experience feel even more personal. You can tell they have a loyal customer base--one couple even said, "See you tomorrow Washington!" The only feedback we'd offer (coming from a customer service background) is that we noticed a few guests waiting at the entrance without being greeted, and one couple actually left the restaurant. A simple "Welcome, we'll be right with you" would go a long way. That said, it didn't take away from our experience. Overall, amazing food, great service, generous portions, and a welcoming family atmosphere. We will definitely be back to try more of their menu!
