This might be my new favorite spot on Murphy Street! The food was fantastic, the dining experience was nice (not fine dining but more upscale than the rest of the area) and the price point was pretty reasonable. My boyfriend and I ordered the vegetarian hummus and Turkmen Mantisi for appetizers, and shared the Alinazik (tenderloin skewer) and Cemenli Tavuk (marinated chicken). The hummus was thick and not oily, which I liked, and I enjoyed the brown butter / pine nut combination here. The tenderloin was cooked a perfect medium rare and the chicken was so tender and moist! I thought all the dishes had unique flavor profiles and good balances of meaty + salty + tangy from the yogurt-based sauces. We also ordered the pistachio baklava for dessert; baklava has always been one of my favorite sweet treats, but this one was amazing! I liked the balance of the salty / nutty pistachio with the sweet honey, and I thought this baklava had a good proportion of crispy / flaky on top with dense and oily on the bottom. The service was good too! They scraped the table and replaced our dishes between courses (which was nice given that all the plates had sauces and different flavors). Also, we decided to order a second entree after finishing the first that we shared, and they had it out within less than 10 minutes. The only negative was that we were seated in the back corner of the upstairs, which felt a little dark and isolated. However, the plus was that it was a little quieter and easier to chat. read more

Delicious This place does Mediterranean food right. They have a classy decour and very attentive service. There is an attention to detail that should be appreciated. We started off with the eggplant and hummus, both of which paired perfectly with their complimentary sesame bread, which came out hot. Next we tried their dumplings which were filled with meat. After finding street parking, we made our way to the restaurant. It was quite packed and the seats are close together. The wait staff bumped into the empty chairs at our table twice. We were given a basket of bread with dip. I usually don't eat much bread, but it was crusty and soft. We started with the octopus and a beet salad. Both were excellent. The octopus was tender and I liked the added texture of pistachios in the salad. For my main, I went with the Adana- grounded lamb spare ribs that came with a side of tomato salad and rice. I just realized it was missing the grilled pepper... oh well. I liked how tender the meat was, but it was salty to me. It went well with the fluffy rice. I didn't care too much for the salad as it was savory. My bf had the Orfoz- pink grouper skewer with Meyhouse Greens. I enjoyed his fish more. The prices are on the high side, so it's not an everyday dinner place. We enjoyed our time overall though. read more

Delicious but small portions given the price you pay. Located in downtown Sunnyvale. Ambiance is nice with plenty of tables and an upstairs dining area as well. We were seated right away during prime dinner time with no reservations. We ordered a tomato salad, manti, and Adana kebab. Their complimentary bread is delicious, especially with the dip they provide. The manti was very flavorful and delicious, but I was expecting more to come with the price. I saw previous photos on Yelp that showed multiple mini dumplings, but to my surprise our dish only came with 4 larger ones. I would've preferred the multiple mini ones that seemed like a larger portion and more shareable. The Adana was very delicious, but came with a pretty small portion of meat for what you pay for. The tomato salad was fresh and good, but again, didn't justify the price point. A good place to dine in but I'm not sure if I'll be back, you can find similar quality and flavors in the area for less price. If you come hungry, the bill will easily rack up. I am a giant fan of their Palo Alto location and was excited to try the original location. Perhaps the expectations were too high because it was just OK. I also made the mistake of hyping it too much to everyone in our party. We did the tasting menu and the choices that were served were off. Other than the lamb chops, everything that was served to us seemed to be off the beaten path and not the popular items we were expecting. Eg. lamb liver for the appetizer. The food was also just OK...even the baklava was on the dry side. I am guessing it was just an off night since I know the management is top-notch and cares about the experience they provide. There's not a whole lot of Turkish restaurants in the South Bay, so we were eager to try out Meyhouse. First off the interior is really nice and the wait staff pretty helpful. As for the food we tried, grilled octopus and Denix Kokorec (sautéed shrimp and octopus) both were pretty good appetizers, just wish the portion size were a tad bigger. For our main's, we had Grilled tenderloin, ground beef patties, lamb kebab and spicy beef kebab. All were very good, I especially enjoyed my grilled tenderloin as it was very flavorful and tender. Overall I would recommend coming to Meyhouse for the great atmosphere and food. read more

Underwhelming! We went for a team lunch on a Thursday afternoon and were seated right away. Our server and the service was exemplary but I was so disappointed with the portion sizes, pricing, and overall taste of the food. The Trio Sigara Boregi (had to copy the name from the menu huh) basically phyllo dough roll pastries with fillings - tasted good but was extremely small and not shareable. The $29 Branzino - Mediterranean sea bass with Meyhouse Green Salad was bland and not worth the price. The salad seemed to have been tossed in just olive oil. Definitely expected more. I should have tried the Kabobs or Kofte maybe. While the restaurant had a fun vibe and the service was excellent, the overall experience was like I said underwhelming! read more

Came here with my friends for dinner without a reservation on a Sunday night. We were able to get a seat outdoors since all the indoors were reserved. We got a lot of cold appetizers to share. My friend took the lead at this place so I have no idea what the dishes were, but all the dips were really good especially the acidic eggplant and tomato ones. We got the vegetarian dumplings because they looked really good and were a popular dish but they were alright. The best dish was the dessert: knafeh and ice cream, with a candle for my birthday. Around the time we got the mains I was feeling a bit gassy and when we finally ordered dessert I started feeling more pain in my stomach. We had a 30 minutes drive back to San Mateo and I thought I would make it but I re-routed google maps to Whole Foods on the way. But as we were driving it was clear I had to go and I had to go now. We pulled into IKEA 2 minutes before it's closing, and the parking lot maze and speed bumps were diabolical. I had no idea where the bathroom was ran up the ran up the escalator thankfully it was right there because if it wasn't then I don't know where I would have gone. It was the most urgency I've ever experienced in my life and I could have probably gone in a bag or between the car and door had I had no other choice. I don't know what I ate here that could have lead to this because it was pretty good but I am sad that this was my experience but it is what it is. We went to Meyhouse for the first time yesterday so were unsure of what to expect. But the food and environment surpassed any expectations. To start, our server for the night was very patient and kindly answered all our questions. The food itself was well presented and tasted amazing. We got the humus to start, with the cured beef. My parents love humus and cleaned it out. (The bread also disappeared very quickly). For main courses we got Cemenli Tavuk, Yogurtlu, and Adana. All amazing. For desserts we got Profiterole and Sobiyet. Also delicious. For the quality and portions we received, pricing was expected. But this may be more of a special occasion type of place for us. read more

We were so lucky to find this place on a special occasion--it was my dad's birthday, and I hadn't planned as far ahead as I should have. I called the day before, and the restaurant was incredibly accommodating. From the moment we arrived, the service was truly outstanding. Everyone was so kind, attentive, and welcoming, and their warmth really elevated the entire experience. The food was exceptional. I travel often and seek out Middle Eastern, Persian, and Turkish cuisine whenever I can, and this restaurant felt truly special. The ambiance is beautiful. We started with the muhammara, which I order often, and this was hands down the best I've ever had--rich, balanced, and deeply flavorful. The dumplings were another highlight, and I really appreciated that they offered a veggie and beef combination, especially since I don't eat beef. I also loved the bread basket--so good and perfect for sharing. We ordered a mix of three appetizers and three entrées for the three of us, and honestly, it was way more food than we needed. I had heard that portions were small, but we found them to be quite generous. My only takeaway for next time would be to order one fewer entrée and explore even more of the appetizers instead--they're so interesting and fun, and I would love to try more of them. The eggplant dish was a delicious, satisfying entrée, and my dad absolutely loved his lamb chops. To top it all off, they made my dad feel incredibly special for his birthday with a card and ice cream with a candle--such a thoughtful and heartfelt touch. We left feeling genuinely cared for and so happy with the entire evening. Meyhouse is located in downtown Sunnyvale and has 2 stories- I attended a work dinner where we were seated upstairs. They have cold and hot apps, salads, and grilled dishes. We opted for the chef's tasting menu which was $90pp. They asked us for dietary restrictions and meat preferences and we were able to sample their most popular items from across the menu from eggplant, fava, dumplings, and octopus- to grilled fish, fried "taquitos" and a grilled meat platter. I thought the service was fantastic and menu had a great mix. Unfortunately, I just wasn't that blown away by the flavors and there wasn't a single dish that made me think "wow, I would definitely come here again to order that". What a great meal! From the lovely person taking reservations on the phone through the entire dining experience. For appetizers, with had thin sliced beef tongue, sounds scary but it is not at all. So tender and flavorful with the tomato salad that accompanies it. We also had a dish with a mix of shrimps and octopus or squid. That was very good as well. I would order both of these for my entree if the servings were bigger. For our entrees, we ordered the spicy and non spicy beef kebabs. They were both delicious. The meat was grilled to perfection and had a really nice Smokey flavor. The rice that came with it was fluffy and had a very unique savory flavor that I loved. I think they moved down the street from when I last came? My recollection was eating outdoors under a tent during COVID, and I don't recall what the inside was like, but it now looks more formal and upscale, and the menu seems to be expanded. Since most of us were not too familiar with Turkish food, we had a hard time navigating the menu, so for our group of 7, we just went with their family style tasting menu for $92/person. They now have a full bar. I got the Pins and Needles, which is a spiced, vodka based drink. A lot of their drinks have some more interesting spice flavors to match the theme of the menu. Had a bitchy attitude for no reason and after paying the bill was in a rush for us to leave. This was Thursday night not too busy. On top of this the yogurtlu dish is like a weird take on meatballs with hella yogurt. Overpriced for the quality of service. If we are paying 600 I expect a decent amount of service. 8/22/25 Update in response to managements note: It's curious that management decided to remind me they "shuffled reservations" when I simply asked if indoor seating was available. That kind of deflection doesn't address the real issue. Neither does minimizing my concern as "just $9" -- the significance of a charge belongs to the guest, not the restaurant. And while they cite "industry standard," most people expect tips to be calculated before tax. The less transparent option was their choice, not mine --- The food here was absolutely delicious, and our server was kind, but both the service at the end of the meal and the billing practices left me disappointed. Our party's bill was several hundred dollars. The restaurant added a mandatory 20% "large party" service charge -- and then charged sales tax on that fee. Since in California service charges are taxable, that inflated the bill. I asked them to remove it so I could tip directly, and they agreed. But when I tipped 20% through their Toast POS, Meyhouse chose to apply the percentage after tax, not before. That made my final total the same as if the taxable service charge had stayed. Toast doesn't force this; the restaurant chose the after-tax option and didn't disclose it. Most diners reasonably assume "20% tip" means on food and drinks, not food + tax. To be fair, the food was excellent. But toward the end of our meal, water refills became scarce, we waited a long time to order dessert, and the bread I requested never arrived. I tip generously when food and service are good (and both were, for the most part), but I expect transparency and consistency. Unfortunately, the billing setup and service missteps overshadowed what could have been a great experience. read more

Service was overall very kind, but it took quite a long time for our entrees to come out after our appetizers. We ordered the following items: APPETIZERS: Patlican Ezme: 4/5 Fire Roasted Eggplant had a strong grilled/smoky flavor which impressed us. It was a bit strong but the other flavors on the plate balanced it out (lemon juice added an interesting, complimentary sour flavor to it) Kopoglu: 5/5 my personal favorite appetizer. Loved the yogurt with the eggplant Lahmacun: 1/5 Unfortunately the meat had a gamey flavor, a flavor that our group does not like, so we were unable to finish this dish. The description says it is only beef, but it tasted more like a gamey lamb to us. ENTREES: Ahtapot Salad: 2/5 Octopus itself was good, but the rest of the plate seemed like a filler for the protein of the dish. The green salad wasn't particularly tasty, and the fava spread under the protein didn't have much flavor. Manti: 4/5 I would call this a Turkish dumpling! We decided on Meyhouse as we were walking down Murphy Avenue. It's my favorite Turkish restaurant. Their warm bread and oil is delicious. It went really well with the meze appetizer: kopoglu - eggplant, peppers, tomato sauce and yogurt. We had the manti, dumplings stuffed with beef and a yogurt topping. We also shared the Adana, ground lamb spare ribs with peppers and tomato salad. Lamb flavor is great. The items on their dessert menu aren't super sweet. I have already forgotten the name of it but we had the round dessert with syrup on top and it's good. We also had Turkish coffee with sugar. Super relaxing and great service. Absolutely spot on! I chose Meyhouse for a team holiday lunch on a recommendation from another co-worker. What an exceptional experience. I truly mean EXCEPTIONAL! So good I fact that I didn't take any food pics because I was to busy devouring all the food! Loved the decor and the open concept. Huge bar that runs the length of the restaurant and I noticed a cute dining area upstairs in a loft like setting. My only issue was the beautiful high ceilings caused the noise level to be pretty high so if you visit in hopes of a quiet romantic setting, this probably isn't it. Service was flawless! I felt like we had 2 if not 3 weight staff taken care of us at all times. One of our guests got up to use the restroom and placed his napkin on the table. The server came right over, folded his napkin and placed it neatly on the back of his chair. That's great service. As for the food ... outstanding! Absolutely everything was not only tasty but presented beautifully. We ordered 4 different appetizers and each one was mouthwatering. Since I didn't order, I'm not sure what each dish I was called. My favorite though was a yogurt topped with eggplant and tomatoes served with this AMAZING bread. I could literally eat that and be happy. Went to celebrate husbands bday here and it was a great experience. The staff was knowledgeable about menu items and were accommodating of all our dietary restrictions. We had the chicken skewers, lamb kebab and roasted eggplant. All of them were so good its hard to pick a favorite. The baklava for dessert was one of the best we have ever had. That being said, we were seated immediately without a reservation & we weren't rushed out of our table. A bit on the pricey side but great flavors & service. We had the veggie dumplings, manti, as an app - light, herby, & wetted the appetite. My husband was very satisfied with his lamb dish, adana, & didn't leave any leftovers. I had a combo beef dish with cubes of bread, tender beef chunks, & ground beef over yogurt & tomato sauce - tomato sauce was a little salty for my taste but once combined with the yogurt, it was tempered. So typically I would normally rate this place 5 stars! The food is SO GOOD!! And everyone be warned - don't worry about the carbs!! It'll be worth it!! Been here twice - the first time for Mother's Day dinner - was SO GOOD - great food, great service, great time. Second time I brought friends and while the food was good - the service was so annoying that it put a huge damper on the dinner experience. Let me get it out of the way - FIRST - SERVERS (especially Savas B), if people DO NOT ASK for your recommendation please REFRAIN!! AND if you MUST give your recommendation - DO NOT BE PUSHY. We were told some other dish was MUCH better than the Manti even though I had my heart set on the Manti but he was SO INSISTENT. So we got the whatever dish he recommended and it WAS NOT BETTER than the Manti. Keep in mind - we placed our order and knew exactly what we wanted. Unsolicited input but we were trying to be nice and gave in. BIG MISTAKE!! We got the Yogurtlu - chunks of meat and bread and mystery white stuff. if it's not something we ordered and wanted - at least explain what it is to us!! Maybe we would like it but personally I prefer the Manti and now I'm upset I never got it and my friends didn't get to try it!! My bad for being nice and trusting... THEN came ordering desserts. We were pretty stuffed so wanted to share two desserts. Just a bite of each... BUT NO... HE insisted the Kunefe would be too small for the 6 of us and recommended to order two. Now on to the food - which is what we should have been focusing on rather than the pushy rude service... First the fresh hot bread, so good with the dip they give you but especially yummy with the Kopoglu - which is oven roasted eggplant and peppers with tomato sauce, yogurt. Spread that on the bread and it's moaning deliciousness GOODNESS!! The beet salad was also a hit - very refreshing - could have used more beets given it's a beet salad. There were six of us and I think there was only 5 pieces of beets... it had mostly salad. The octopus meze (Ahtapot - Mesquite fire grilled Galician octopus over gambilya fava, paprika-butter) was very good - the smokiness was spot on and it was tender but the combination with the gambilya fava and paprika butter!! PERFECT!! For the main course we had the Adana (lamb spare ribs, Aleppo pepper, spices, tomato salad, and a grilled pepper) - the lamb is so tender and had SO MUCH FLAVOR - eaten with the veggies - a perfect bite... We also got the Orfoz (Charcoal grilled marinated pink grouper pieces, served with Meyhouse Greens.) The fish was SO tender - perfectly cooked and perfect for our group! (forgot to take a picture of it). And I already shared our dessert experience. The Kunefe is my favorite - didn't have the cheese pull like it did the first time we came and we cut it up 6 ways and it was PERFECT!! And btw we got at least 2 spoons EACH of the Sutlac which was a bit of a disappointment as it was a bit runny - not a typical rice pudding - so I guess the Turkish style is more liquidy. BUT I'm glad we got to try it - we wanted to try something different... OH and ice cream - was refreshing and good - not sure of the flavor of the ice cream but we all enjoyed it! Oh and before I forget - the first time I went for Mother's day - we DID have the Manti and it was a hit with the family. I LOVED the Manti and so did the kids. AND we accidentally ordered the Atom - which is homemade strained garlic yogurt with spicy peppers. Hubby and kids liked it. Was too spicy for me but now we know... Unfortunately our service over took the excellent food from my last visit. Highlights * Really good service in light of and because of an honest mistake *specify clearly between Branzino and Chilean Sea Bass (say Chilean) * Food was well-prepared though for me some flavors were acquired *Ambiance is high class Food: Ahtapot - octopus Alinazik - beef tenderloin skewer Chilean sea bass The free bread basket The Chilean sea bass was prepared to perfection. It melts in your mouth like butter. This was our favorite dish! Ahtapot was delicious, too. We are generally fans of grilled octopus. I'm not sure if I could tell how the Turkish style differed, though I'd get this again. The table bread that they give you for free was also really soft. We ordered a second basket. Alinazik - this was a solid choice. The beef was tender and I ate everything, though there was a flavor from the greens that I was unfamiliar with. Granted I intentionally sought the more unique Turkish flavors. I didn't find it as immediately delicious as the Chilean sea bass; whatever flavor it is must be acquired. Service /ambiance Apparently the Branzino is made from a sea bass (or so the server told us). We ordered "sea bass" because there was a "Chilean Sea Bass" on the menu. The server repeated our order and said "okay, sea bass". Good. But when the food arrived, we got the Branzino. I said it wasn't right because we ordered the Sea Bass. She said yeah the Branzino is a sea bass. While it was an honest mistake which is likely from the menu inherently being a little too similar (and it was kinda loud on the restaurant so tough to hear). I don't recall seeing the word "sea bass" in the Branzino description though otherwise I would have made sure. Anyway it was an honest mistake and we appreciated they brought out a sea bass (it took longer though it was worth it). The server was gracious and in the end we were happy to eat the CHILEAN Sea Bass. read more

Can't believe I missed this gem after living here for so long! Everything -- from the appetizers to the drinks to the main course was absolutely delicious. The meats were incredibly tender and full of flavor. We had the Adana Kopoğlu and Tavuk, and both were fantastic. The real surprise? The drink, Cos Mey Politan, it was so good, I'd come back just for that alone. Meyhouse sits close to Dishdash, and while I've enjoyed Dishdash in the past, its flavors feel more routine now. Meyhouse brings something fresh, bold, and exciting, definitely a step up. Note: it's more like $$.5, not just $$, but totally worth it. Already planning my next visit! read more

Let me start by saying this place was a 10/10! They were on top of it tonight with it being Valentine's Day everything was amazing. Our waiter was awesome he answered all of our questions and was attentive I completely forgot his name but all the employees were amazing the service and food make me want to go back 100% and the ambiance was also great it's our first time trying Turkish food and we couldn't have spent it anywhere else but here will absolutely return with our family! read more

Food was good, service great, although they took away a plate that had oil on it without asking and I wanted to use it for dipping the bread. But the price does not match the food, $60 per person for a light lunch was a bit high for what you get (only one of us had an alcoholic drink which was a beer). Won't be coming back. read more

Meyhouse has moved since our last visit to a much nicer and bigger venue. This place has been our best dinner as of recent! We had no reservation so our only choice was at the bar. PROTIP: make a reservation on Open Table. The bar isnt bad at all tho bc our bartender Alps was the best. Very attentive and he really knows how to make good drinks!! He recommended the Cosmo drink and made me two. They were perfect and delicious. We ordered the eggplant appetizer and beef tongue. They were both sooo good. We also got the chicken and beef kabobs. So perfectly cooked and flavored!! They also have a bread bowl and it is very fresh bread tastes like it is made in-house. Hospitality, ambience, and food are all 5 stars!!! read more

Love Meyhouse PA, so returned a second time to their Sunnyvale location. Unrelated to the restaurant, I have to take a one minute parking rant - what a nightmare. Ended up at the Caltrain Parking Lot - recommend this vacant and free option if you're there after 6pm. Food was great, wine was amazing and reasonably priced. Can't wait to return Thursdays for the Turkish Pizza. If you ask nicely they might serve you it on other days! * Atom - aka yogurt ($13) - 4.5 stars: It's just yogurt with chilis on top but their yogurt is to die for! * Patlician Salatasi - aka eggplant ($15) - 4.5 stars: Yum, a solid eggplant dip. We ordered 3. All comes with super fresh, warm, soft pita. * Turkmen Mantisi - aka dumplings ($18) - 5 stars: One of my faves. They have a mezze dumpling at PA only, and an entree sized version in Sunnyvale. Both good. * Ahtapot - aka octopus ($22) - 5 stars: Can I make this a 6-star? I order this at every restaurant that offers this, and this is one of my all-time favorites. The quality of the octopus, the meatiness, the perfect char, and *chefs kiss* seasoning. Made reservations for 3 at 7:15pm on a Friday evening. Dimly lit, intimate and fancy setting. We were seated upstairs and it was a nice quiet area. For starters, we shared the kopoglu (oven roasted eggplant with tomato sauce and yogurt), sogus dil (thinly sliced beef tongue), and ahtapot (fire grilled octopus). Kopoglu was amazing. The eggplant went very well with the yogurt, which was packed with flavor, and tomato sauce. Sogus dil was ok for us, nothing too special in particular. Ahtapot was the star of the entire meal!! Usually I'm ok about octopus since I'm personally not the biggest fan of the chewy/rubbery texture, but we've never had octopus like this before. It was easy to cut through like typical fish and extremely tender and well-cooked with no rubbery texture at all. We loved the gambilya fava the octopus came with. Reminded us of grits/cornmeal. Out of the appetizers, I'd highly highly recommend the ahtapot. For entrees, we shared yogurtlu (angus tenderloin and meatballs, tomato sauce, yogurt) and manti (mini dumplings stuffed with beef filling). The yogurtlu seemed like a popular dish. We thought it was pretty good but also nothing too mindblowing about it. Definitely on the heavier side, especially since we had the same yogurt and tomato sauce already with the eggplant. Manti was ok as well, the menu says that it's stuffed with beef but ours didn't come stuffed with beef filling for some reason. It ended up just tasting like plain pasta with yogurt and other flavored sauces on top of it. For drinks, we got the salgam (turnip), ayran (yogurt drink), and efe green raki. The salgam tasted pretty bitter. My personal preference is drinks on the sweeter side so I wasn't the big fan of this. Again it's a personal preference so if you like bitter vegetable flavored drinks then this might be for you. Ayran was good, definitely on the tart side and not too much sweetness but I liked the texture and creaminess. For dessert, we got the sobiyet (baklava) and mastika ice cream. These were fantastic - the baklava and ice cream went very well together. It was a great experience dining here. I wouldn't be opposed to returning and trying other dishes. Would definitely get the eggplant and octopus again! At times, it was a bit difficult to flag down our waiter but he was very kind. The time between courses was pretty long and we ended up dining for almost 3 hours, but the high quality of the food shows the time and effort that goes into it.
