Ate at Mi La Cay #4 in Westminster California. I got the combo #1 which I ordered with duck and the pork bone! Man the pork bone straight did a seductive belly danced as it came to my table and gave me a little show how soft it was! I was hypnotized right from the start when it came out of the kitchen. It was like the lights turned off and the spotlight was on the plate. The battered shrimp was crispy, the noodle was soft silky and the duck was on point and the pork of course ended the show. After I was done I straight stood up and gave a standing ovation whistling for an encore. I exited with a few back flips. You know I already ordered tickets to the next show. Even I didn't get 2 minutes to look at the menu, I don't understand why the waiter is always pushing me to order now when I haven't had enough time to read all the dishes they have. When I asked here which dish is the best seller, the waiter replied with a very bad attitude "depending on each person's taste", she doesn't want advice and referrals, she just wants you to order fast and pay fast. After that, I saw " mì cật heo " is special today, I got it, and I can't even eat the second bite. Don't come here if you don't want to waste your money and your time! The dick and chicken are both delicious; OMG, the egg noodles are perfect! The service is friendly, but are native Vietnamese speakers. My server preferred Mandarin to English. Came here for lunch today with my coworkers, and we all ordered the duck noodle. Half of us got it with soup, and the other half dry. The duck itself was DELICIOUS, but the soup was a little too salty for my liking, and the egg noodle was a bit undercooked. Yuck! I came here, by request from my grandpa, for dinner. We all got a mi la cay. I got the dac biet (house special) one. It was suppose to include seafood and various meats. Well... all of the meat was super tough and chewy. The "shrimp" was popcorn shrimp! And they were tiny (the size of popcorn chicken at boba shops) and they only gave me two. But the worst thing about it was the high amounts of MSG. Half way through eating it, my mom and I were starting to feel sick. We did not finish it. I think I had a headache all night long. The only thing great about this place was that it was cheap and their service. The lady working there seemed nice and our food came out fast. The chicken has a nice crispy exterior and moist interior and seasoned well. However, what made it really great was the texture of the mi..... great chewiness. The accompanying broth is really flavorful.... not much MSG as I didn't get that fuzzy tongue, comatose feeling after. When you order soda chanh they give you a whole can of soda. I couldn't finish it. The lady boss is really nice. She asked me if I enjoyed my noodles when I went up to pay..... Food is great, price is low. The owner and servers are always nice. This is my favorite egg nooodle soup store for more than 30 years.

This Mi La Cay is significantly better than the one located on Westminster BLVD. Although the other location is closer to my apartment, my boyfriend and I frequently travel the three or four miles further to this location because it is THAT much better. The soup here is so filling and savory and hot. I always get the hu tieu dac biet, It comes with chicken, some bbq pork, some delicious fried shrimp, and assorted veggies. My favorite part about this soup bowl is that the soup is so very flavorful. The other mi la cay tasted just like salty water. Nope. This one is much different--trust me. The service here is also wonderful. There is a woman here who is so chipper and nice and understanding. She gave us water consistently and chatted to us a bit before we left. She is funny and very nice. I would hands down visit here again. Just typing this review makes me want to go back for another bowl of noodle soup! They are doing it right. read more

My personal fav is Small noodles/Dry w/ broth on the side. they also have larger/thicker noodles, served in the broth. A side order that complements the noodles is the XIU MAI/Chinese donut combo. Imagine a meatball in broth served with savory fried bread (abit oily/greasy, but so good). Top 3: #18 - BBQ duck - flavorful and juicy #16 - fried shrimp - my personal fav #13 - special - a lil mix of everything. For the noodles try it with a bit of mustard. This is not your typical American mustard, more like mustard flavor w/ wasabi kick. So don't go crazy with the mustard. SERVICE: the current owner is the daughter of the original owner. She's usually out at the tables schmoozing with the customers. She's always got a positive and happy vibe. MISC: they have 2 sister locations - the one on Goldenwest and Westminster is now permanently closed. The other is on Bolsa and Magnolia - same shopping center as ABC supermarket. Yes food is cheap here with a bowl of egg noodle soup as low as $8 for wonton soup to $13.50 for mi vit tiem (egg noodle with duck), but you get what you pay for. We got 3 bowls of mi vit tiem and the duck was just purely bones. Seriously, like not even a lick of meat. The broth was decent but extremely salty. If you want to eat in a hole in the wall restaurant... you found it. Never will return. $55 for just duck bones and enough salt to develop high blood pressure. read more

I've heard many great things about Mi La Cay, and there are so many locations! I finally got to try it w/ my friend and she picked this location. It was perfect for a cold overcast day! My normal go-to would have been pho, but now that I've gone here I can't stop carving mi!! I got the mi hoanh thanh xa xiu (basically the regular noodles w/ wonton & bbq pork). We both got the regular size and portion wise it's enough to get you JUST full. You'll definitely have room for dessert after, but you don't feel leaving hungry or like you're gonna food coma. The broth was really fragrant and flavorful. The wontons were a decent size and there was a good amount of sliced bbq pork. I like their bbq pork here because it's not like the typical chinese bbq pork where there's food coloring! My friend also ordered the fried chinese donuts (the stuff you normally get w/ congee) and some pickled radishes (it looked like the ones you get at kbbq). It was interesting because I never get these w/ won ton noodle soup. I liked dipping the chinese donut in the soup and eating it. The radish was just ok, I could do without it. Been eating here for the past 10yrs, but haven't even think about writing a review. You know how u eat at ur usual place even yelp exist so u tend to forget? Yeah that happen. This place is family own, been around forever so don't expect nicely decor and extraordinary cleanliness. However, the food remain excellent all these year. They expand their menu by putting the new menu picture around the wall. Their egg noodle are chewy and their broth are flavorful. Today I order hu tieu mi long heo (pig intestine) and it was cook perfectly. The texture of the intestine are crunchy and soft, and the ginger in the broth help take away the smell. This place used to be my favorite for a while. I havemt been back for at least 5-6 years now. Today we came here for lunch because a coworker was craving noodle soup. The meal wasn't bad but also wasn't as good as I imagined. We ordered 3 dried noodle bowls and fries Vietnamese donuts. For myy bowl I got the Roast Duck Noodle. I was looking for a place for lunch around Garden Grove area and saw a food blogger posted a photo of homemade egg noodles from this place. So, I decided to venture to Mi La Cay during my lunch break. I was quite surprised with the workers in Mi La Cay because they spoke very good English, compared to other Asian places in Garden Grove. Me and my bro ordered 1 house special egg noodle (#1) and 1 oyster sauce house special egg noodle (#11). Both of them tasted quite the same actually, but the oyster sauce was a lil bit towards the sweet side. The noodles came with soup, 5 slices of pork, fried shrimp, chicken, and some bits of pork rinds. I really thought that it was a lot considering the cheap price of $6.50 per bowl. We also added sides of BBQ duck, fried shrimp, and Chinese donut. With all those extras, the total came to be $10 per person. They are quite famous because of their handmade noodles, but for me the noodles were kinda too hard to chew. We were wondering how some grandmas and grandpas were eating the noodles because even our young teeth hurt when chewing the noodles. But, after adding some soup to the noodles, they actually became softer. Probably need to order the soup to be together with the noodles. read more

However, the customer service at this location is above and beyond. Place is great, Two ladies I usually see never work the same day, but you will see one of them. Both are really nice and attentive. I used to get the Fried Shrimp but got over it, still good nonetheless. I come here for the dry noodles either the Mi (egg noodles) or Hu Tieu (rice noodles) Ga Quay (Roasted Chicken) or the Vit Quay (Roasted Duck). I'd recommend those dishes if you're hesitant of getting something for the first time. I also enjoy eating the pork grinds here. read more
