This place is a diamond in the rough. My wife and I stopped by here because we were in the area around UNR but didn't want to eat at Cane's or Jimmy Johns. Definitely check this place out. We split a super quesadilla (it's thick!!), two tacos pollos, and two carne asada tacos all for about $13. The meat was juicy and plentiful and the ingredients were excellent. We came here since Carlitos was closed. Really clean, authentic Mexican restaurant with friendly service. Very inexpensive. Hubby ordered the pork chili verde which was extra tender and great flavor. I had the chorizo and eggs which I would pass on next time. The style chorizo was dry and crispy and reminded me of corned beef and hash. This is my favorite Mexican place in all of Reno! The Al Pastor burrito is my go-to order and I have yet to find ANYWHERE that does it better, in-or-outside Reno. I have been eating here very often lately because it is not far away from my apartment. I have not tried a lot Mexican food a lot before, but after having meal at Mi Ranchito, the taste and customer service will definitely make me want to come back here again and try new dishes. The place is small cozy and decorated beautifully. I like the way they put extra tables outside for customers who love hanging out. My friend ordered Carne Asada and I ordered Camarones Rancheros. We love it. We both empty the meal we got even though it is huge. If you have the chance, let's stop by and grasp food here. My gastrointestinal issues mean that I can handle Mexican food about three times a year. I live down the street from this place and I've gone there more times than I should but the burritos are that good. I believe this is some of the best Mexican food for the price in Reno. I have been to other places like Mi Casa, Bertha Miranda's and Miguels and they all fall short for different reasons. You should know that this place has a "hole in the wall" feel to it. It feels like you are taking a trip back into time. I normally get the combo, a burrito and two tacos. Every time the burrito has been amazing. I often time switch what tacos and I get and have loved all of them. The best part is the combo is only like 7 dollars. Best Al Pastor tacos in Reno. They are a little over a buck a piece and you get extra tortillas and Al Pastor to make it into 4 tacos. Family owned and operated and the food is delicious! The staff is extremely friendly and the food is quickly made, taste like a home cooked meal. I always get a few rounds of micheladas and some ceviche tostadas. I've also had the chile rellenos and menudo before, all delicious. The roaming cat found himself with two other cats on the hunt for some dinner, and the mood amongst the fur was feeling Mexican food. A quick Yelp search soon brought us here! Mi Ranchito is a decent sized place. Walking in I noted the basic decor and numerous young adults enjoying their food. Sadly, two things turned me off. One, there were many open tables but they all had used dishes all over them! Maybe the place was a bit busy but this looked super trashy! And then why was there some person asleep in one of the booths? Just laying there with their face covered? This made a really bad first impression for us cats! We decided to let these issues slide and made our orders. Lots of interesting options here, but of course I had to go for the veggie burrito which is often one of my go to things to get at a Mexican restaurant. We were given chips and salsa while we waited. Everything came out pretty quickly and I must say that my burrito was delicious! The size was large and the fillings were perfect. Definitely an all around decent burrito and a really fantastic price! I'd say that if it had not been for the first impressions upon entry, I would have given this place 4 stars, maybe 4.5, but what I saw led to me questioning cleanliness and efficiency which turned me off a bit. Mi Ranchito is a slightly hidden gem right off of Valley road. I've only been here a few times but the quality of food is excellent and the service is great.
