The donuts are excellent the coffee is often burnt but the service from the old wench is awful. She never smiles and has the attitude that the customer owe her ,and how she is above everybody. Today was the final straw for me as i go there almost every other day and spend close to three dollars. Ive even throw up to a total in change of $2 in her aqua tip bowl. Today i was 6 cents short and she refused to serve me due to it, oh should i add i live acrkoss the street n have a change bowl where i could have easily gone back home to gather the missing change. instead of being understanding she rather kop an attitude then berate me by telling me how i cant count whilst huffin and puffing under her breathe. This is the dive bar of donut places but they are THE.BEST.DONUTS.EVER. I'm an east coast girl who grew up on Dunkin's and this place just blows all the others out of the water. It's uber cheap, they have parking and the donuts are always fresh and delicious. They're open 24-hours if you have a hankering at 4am. I used to live right by this place and I'd often bring donuts to my office in mid-Wilshire and people raved about them and wondering where they could get them. Yes, Michelle's is now out of the way from me and most people who don't live in east hollywood but it's well-worth the trek if you're craving a fresh glazed donut. :) read more

I cannot tell you how adamantly I recommend these donuts. I am a donut connoisseur (unfortunately -- these fried sugary delights certainly add to my less-than-perfect physique). My brother and I used to try new donut shops all the time, searching for the perfect, freshest donut. Little did I know that when I finally found it, it would be the end to healthy eating as I know it. The donuts here are so so so flippin good. My favourites are the chocolate bars (the inside is so soft and fresh, the chocolate on top tastes like REAL chocolate, so creamy and satisfying, and the dough is fried to crispy perfection) and the frosting/sprinkle cake ones (oh the fried dough, while being quite calorie ridden, is crispy on the outside and tastes like a bite out of heaven while the frosting on the top melts in your mouth). I also really like those big spiraling, glazed cinnamon things. I mean, you can't go wrong here but there are definitely some that are better than others. The staff is so friendly, plus they're open 24 hours. I've absolutely been here with friends at 3 or 4 in the morning. The donuts are quite as fresh at this hour but they still hit the spot. Also did I mention they're ridiculously cheap. Well, all donuts are cheap but the only donuts I know that rival these are 5 dollar donuts on the westside. Went here after seeing all of the reviews. Got a dozen of donuts; glazed, cinnamon, chocolate covered, coconut, and sugary. Everyone in the office loved them, including me. DELICIOUS DONUTS for mere cents - you just can't beat Michelle's. when i walked in i immediately began drooling and wanted one of everything. and once i found out that these delicious treats are less than a $1 i did almost that. i walked out with 6 donuts and one of the best apple fritters i've ever eaten. as for the donuts, i enjoyed a chocolate glazed, chocolate frosted sprinkle, buttermilk bar, cherry frostedand a toasted coconut. don't worry i only took a few bites of each because at that price, i don't mind being wasteful plus who can really eat that many donuts! so if you are craving a delicious, home-made donut, head to Michelle's but be warned you're going to leave with a box full because they are all that good! read more

I'm trying to go around all of LA rating donut huts, stores, factories, you name it. I went in the afternoon (not necessarily the best time, but donuts should always be made fresh throughout the day). The owner was very sweet. The donuts are reasonably priced (.65-.80). However, the dough for a cake donut and a buttermilk tasted the same. It also tasted like it had been fried in the same oil used on their food products. GROSS me out. Not that great. I've picked up donuts from here on my way to work a few times, and it's been awesome. The guy who works there is so friendly and helpful at recommending which donuts to get. All the ones I've tried have been good, but I especially like any of the raised donuts -- they have a slighty doughyness yet are super light and airy, which is amazing. Came in here regularly as a matter of convenience due to their location. Donuts were ok, nothing to write home about. I walked in one day with a customer right behind me, low & behold he gets his order taken first, found it odd & disrespectful as a regular. On another day I had observed a cockroach on the counter as I was paying, I was attempting to to say something but was kinda embarrassed to point it out, I don't think the attendee was understanding my hints anyway, walked out a bit disgusted. On our way home from our first day of our anniversary food trip we decided to give this donut place a try. I found it on yelp [of course] and decided that I needed to find out if an out of the way tiny donut shop could hold up to the hype. Let me start by saying that this place is just how I imagined it--in an older building, stuck in the late eighties donut shop decor and with a nice lady behind the counter. Around 1030pm at night most of the good donuts are gone, I guess, because all but one half tray was left! We took what we could including a slice of their pound cake and headed back to the hotel. For 70 cents a donut, this place is cheap. We picked up at least half a dozen for under 4 bucks. That's awesome pricing. Anyway, we get back to the hotel and I open up the white bag and rip a piece of the old fashioned cake donut with blueberry icing. There are tiny blueberries stuck in the icing that's now a nice violet color. I can now say what the hype is--the fluffy, non-oily, light icing loveliness. It's a great donut and a great find. For cheap, late night sweets when you want coffee and a donut, stop by this place. It's worth the drive. PS: Open 24 hours but the window on the sidewalk is what's open after 11pm. read more

Outsiders expect L.A. to be the land of enemas, macrobiotic vegan whatever, and bogus juice cleanses. It is the land of burnt out strip malls as expected, but surprisingly these commercialized parking lots usually have a doughnut, taco, or burger stand, sometimes a combination of all three under one roof, sometimes even selling cigarettes at an outrageously low tax rate. Maybe it's a class issue, like most things dividing America: where doughnut shops proliferate, coffee is likely going into the customary orifice, cheap and accompanied with grease; where coffee is a bowel treatment, smoking is illegal and food is meant to prolong existence. Maybe indicative of my socio-economic status, I've eaten a fair amount of doughnuts in L.A. Michelle's are some of the best. The raised glazed doughnuts were light and airy, with a little tanginess that contrasted well with sweet glaze. The person at the counter was friendly and kind. Honestly, who wants to be up at 6am on a Saturday. Not moi, certainly. I gotta say that the pride and care that the people at this establishment makes you happy to come in at such an hour. No hassle, just "glad to see you, what can I get you" attitude - starts your day off right. I bought 2 dozen, and the response from those around me had me getting up early the next day to buy another dozen more.
