I drive 325 miles just to get here 3 to 5 times a year. The pub grub is fantastic, everything from the simple baguette to Irish favorites like Bangers and Mash. This is also the freshest pint of Guinness you'll find on the east coast, but if you want to get pickier they also have a rotating craft beer on tap and a fine selection of local music acts. What makes this place 5 stars is that it's home. This is the bar that knows your name. It still has a pint waiting for me 15 years after I moved away, and it doesn't care if your a lawyer or a dock worker or retired. Show up enough and you'll always have someone to talk to and some of the friendliest staff around to take care of you. Yes I'm completely biased. They earned that from me. read more

I came to Mick O'Shea's with a large group for a wedding afterparty, and we closed the place out in jolly, raucous fashion. It was a great, comfortable pub, though I assume we had some kind of reservation on our room. If it's possible to walk into this place rolling like forty people deep, all the better, I guess. We were in a spacious back room with plenty of seating and room to mill around. The vibe was casual, plain and pubby, and service was on point. Drink selection was solid. I don't have the sharpest memories of the hours we spent here, but I'm pretty sure I had a beer or two (Dogfish Head 60 Minute? Monument City 51 Rye? both? other? all of the above?), and I am positive that one of my friends ordered a round of fireballs at around 1 in the morning. At least two people got sick at the hotel, and both credited these fireballs as the push over the edge. I don't know that this is a destination bar or anything, but I had a lot of fun at Mick O'Shea's and would recommend it for a night of drinking in Baltimore. It was an ideal venue for our large party, just a great place to round out a day of celebration. read more

Mick O'Shea's is a little gem in Mt. Vernon. At first glance it's your typical "Cheers' watering hole, and it meets that bar easily. Numerous craft beers and ales on tap, and friendly bartenders can mix specialty drinks with the best of them. But the biggest secret is the food. It's amazing, worthy of many top end restaurants, but with a more working class menu approach. The typical Irish standards like Shepherds Pie and Bangers and Mash won't disappoint, but the huge menu and daily specials will prompt many return visits. On our last visit I had the Jambalaya and was amazed at the legitimate flavor and filled with jumbo shrimp and Mussels. My wife had the Delmonico steak, a cut you rarely find, and I don't know what they seasoned it with but it's hard to recall a more flavorful steak. Try it. You'll become a regular. read more

Edit: 10 years in, the burger special have now moved to Wednesdays, the plates and french fries have changed shapes, but burger nights still lives on! I've been coming here for 5 years now, and their burger night has consistently been top notch. The burger night deal is awesome- beer, a huge burger, and fries for $9. The resurrection ale they have is really dark and amazing in the winter, and I always feel good about supporting a local brewery. And when I say local, I mean local! The resurrection ale is coming from Brewer's Art just up the street. I've gotta say though, the desserts here are awesome. They are all home-made and delicious. The portions are generous, and they will make anything a-la-mode with some of the richest homemade vanilla ice cream I have ever had. read more

This place is great. The crowd is fun and friendly, the service is amazing. Our waitress was very welcoming and attentive. The cream of crab soup is killer! The calamari is great, and the wontons were good too. Also had the killybeg sandwich which was great if you love ahi like myself. Ok. So I went here with my mom and bro. My mom had been there a few times but my bro and I were both rookies in this place. Our order: bloody mary, calamari, fish and chips, gin/tonic & a Reuben. Bloody Mary: yum. Not amazing, but yum. I was disappointed that it didn't have my fave bloody mary garnish: celery :( Calamari: good. Cooked well. Not too chewy, not over cooked. Good deep fry batter. Cooked just right. Fish and chips: delish! Guinness battered fish: can't go wrong with that. Cooked so perfectly, soft and succulent! Mmm! Gotta love that. I also ordered the gin/tonic which was good. Well mixed. Yum. Last but not least the Reuben: average taste, nothing spectacular. Needed more kraut and dressing but I liked that they toasted the bread. It was a bit crunchy on the outside, buttery and soft. Good overall, but not the BEST I've ever eaten. The service though, was amazing. Our server was funny and attentive and sweet and I loved her. I love it when they take your order and don't need a notepad, that was our server. She was great. I recommend you go if you want a good sports bar atmosphere, great service, good food and really good daily and happy hour specials. Check it out. One of the more reaonsable pubs/sports bars along Charles St. It is comfortable, roomy and has 5 TVs around the pub for sports TV goodness. The food is decent and reasonably priced for this part of town. Good place to gather before heading out for a big night. They have specials each night of the week. We came here on Mothers day, as the other two places had a long waiting for our larger group of 8. They had great Yelp reviews, and I am so glad we came. The fish and chips was great, it was a fresh fish with real chipa. Our wonderful waiter brought the vinegar without asking Muscles in sauce was absolutely finger licking good. I visited Mick O'Shea's Irish pub in Baltimore with a group of friends for a friend's birthday in mid-January. Though I really enjoyed the bottomless mimosas (always excellent!), I wasn't a big fan of the food. I ordered a crabcake and could barely finish even half of it. I ended up taking it to go and didn't even finish it later on (but two hungry guys did eat it... I'm talking about you, Jesse and Jason!). Went here one night for their special: $6 burger with fries and beer. While this deal is really good, the food wasn't as good. Im talking about the burger. It was cooked to my liking, but the patty itself was pretty bland. Maybe it was an off nite. If it had been seasoned properly, this would be a 4 star. The beer batter fries however, hit the spot! The reason for the low rating is solely due to the rude waitress we had. She was grumpy, seemed to be judgmental of our questions about the menu, and was not very attentive. When she delivered our check, she basically threw it at the table and the pen. Aside from that, I liked this pub. The decor was fabulous, lots of Irish memorabilia, photos, flags, etc. The live band was cool, although not particularly my music taste. I passed by a room that had some video games. My BBQ wings were really tasty and went perfectly with the bleu cheese dressing. I just wish I had more celery sticks and carrots. I thought the wings were a bit pricey too, but maybe they have a nice happy hour special. My friend's burger was a huge portion and was tasty. My friends' beers were good as well. (7/29/2015) We were in a different 'hood than where our usual Irish pub is, and when we saw a friend through the window as we were passing by, decided to stop in for a late-ish dinner. Place seemed a pretty lively mix of locals and downtown schlubs. Orioles v. Braves was on TV, tables of family groups with kids and babie, desk jockeys still in their suits and ties, conservatory kids on dates, and random tourists from the Tremont Grand nearby were eating, drinking, and making merry. We started with the O'Shea's Wontons (stuffed with mashed potato, cheddar, and bacon and deep-fried), came piping hot, crispy, pretty satisfying and densely filling; really enjoyed the chipotle sour cream. I had the Fish and Chips, pretty enormous, deeply golden, crunchy, beer-battered piece of cod on a pile of fairly wan, somewhat soggy (from frozen) steak fries. Coleslaw was crunchy, touch sweet, very small 2 oz. portion. My dining companion had the Grand Marnier Pit Beef, while tender enough, was deemed very sugary; a side of seasoned fries was "satisfactory", not soggy, but also not crisp on the exterior. There are a few "homemade" touches to the mostly Sysco/US Foods frozen roundup, pretty much the sauces (tartar, GM, flavored sour cream). Service was friendly, if a touch overwhelmed (being the only server in the whole back dining room). Prices were very reasonable. Solid neighborhood pub, if this is your neighborhood, but also friendly enough if you're a visitor. read more

This place is right around the corner from our apt. We go there 1-3x/week. Best deals in town: mon 9$ burger steak fries and beer, tue : is fish n chips 8$ and shepherds pie. Staff has largely been the same for years. You'll see the owners helping serve when it gets busy but they're so down to earth that you won't know they're the owners. Staff is attentive and kind, they remember your orders. Kitchen never gets it wrong. We've literally eaten there over a hundred times and they've never gotten an order wrong. Their kitchen is perfection. The menu has pub staples like bangers and mash, reuben, calamari, great burgers, powerhouse sandwich, shepherds pie, etc but also cornbeef and hash egg rolls (don't knock it til you try it) and southwest egg rolls. Live music on Thursday - Sunday is very loud. Avoid those days if you want to have a conversation over drinks. It gets very loud and crowded. read more

This is a great, unexpected delight. Hidden under the guise of a neighborhood bar, the food is much better than neighborhood bar food. A friend and I went to grab a late night bite after listening to live music elsewhere (we love live bands, btw). We didn't see anything about a live band in the description but were pleasantly surprised to be entertained by one of the best bands I've seen in a long time...and the food was so much greater than I expected. Great location near Hotel Indigo, but after experiencing such a great time there last week, we would drive over an hour to have dinner and drinks there again! We ordered the crab cakes, broccoli, and fries...and many well made cocktails. Baltimore restaurants could learn a thing or two from this place. The prices are appropriate, and the food was superb. Other "fine dining" restaurants dont come close to the service, food, and pricing as Mick O sheas does. This is why I'm giving a 5 star rating. A very popular neighborhood pub, and it did not disappoint! We got fish and chips all around and the fish was perfectly cooked. It's a huge portion of a whole fish atop a bed of fries, so come hungry! Our waitress was very attentive despite the busy atmosphere. They were setting up for some live music on the Friday evening that we were there, but unfortunately we were not there long enough to hear them play. I love this place living near charles tower it was very convenient. I love their old bay dry rub wings were the best wings I have ever had in my life literally they should be called the best wings of Baltimore! I loved the Sheppard pie it is great with the cheese they top it with and the meat and stuffing is not to liquidy but just right viscosity. The bar is awesome seen as well I watched the cubs play the Indians and won the series there I loved the people who come their and the employees are awesome I'm very sad I had to leave and I will not have another osheas where I live now.
