Updating my review due to the shoddy work this shop did on my car. I came in for a coolant leak less than 2 months ago, they replaced the water pump, belt, thermostat housing, and did an engine bay wash to clean up the leaked coolant. They told me they guaranteed their work for a whole year and anything they worked on is under warranty for that 1 year. When I got the vehicle back everything seemed fine until I turned the AC on, no more cold air. Now, I live in Long Beach, we have amazing weather until middle of summer so I haven't had a need for the AC until the beginning of July. I called Midas to make an appointment to have them look at it, I brought the car back to them and they wanted to charge me $220 just to look at the AC system since it's "separate" from the work they did. When I said I wasn't anticipating paying to have it looked at as it worked before I brought it in, they got defensive saying I was accusing them of doing something wrong and it's been 2 months "so it can't possibly be their fault". I didn't say they did anything wrong but I was hoping it was as simple as something forgetting to be reconnected since it worked perfectly before I brought it in. After the defensiveness of the employee and attempt to overcharge for a diagnostic, I decided to take it to PepBoys as they have a deal on AC diagnostic for the summer. They showed me somebody cut/stripped the compressor wire and tried to put it back together but the tape and metal clip they used had fallen off. They also said the wire was cut so short it can't possibly be repaired so I need a whole new compressor. Nobody has worked on my car since Midas, my ac worked perfectly before I took it to Midas. The water pump is under/next to the AC compressor, so it's in the area Midas worked on. I will not be bringing my vehicle back to Midas even if they do offer to fix under warranty because now I don't trust them to not break something else but I will be contacting corporate. read more

Price: (approx $1400) Service: (several visits over a 2 month time span) Midas monologue: Visit 1: oil change Interaction: I called this location before I arrived, informing them I would be there in about 30 minutes for an oil change. When I arrived, my car was pulled right in. The front staff member that I interacted with was kind and informative, sharing with me items that I should address as suggested by the mechanic. While I waited: I was pleasantly surprised by the diverse music selection that was coming from the speakers of the tv. I was also very pleasantly surprised by the comfortable, clean and no signs of wear and tear on the black sofa. There was complimentary coffee, a small seating area, outside, at the front of the business and a clean bathroom. I was comfy! Some time later, my car was complete, the keys were handed to me and I paid my bill. Great service. Visit 2: oil leak, "solution" gasket replacement Interaction: A few days later I noticed a small oil leak. I called them to share this revelation. They told me to come right in and they would check it out. Service: Upon their inspection, and after they granted me a visit to explore the underworld of my car as to where the troubled area was, it was agreed that they should replace the gasket. (My road warrior, she is 19 years old. So just like us humans, a few things need an upgrade from time to time). Visit 3: oil leak, "solution" axle shaft Interaction: Same as visit 2. Service: Upon another inspection, they showed me that one side of the axle was a little more wobbly than the other side and the oil was coming from that area. Although I was skeptical, because it didn't appear to be much loser than the other side, again, she is 19 years old, so, again another "surgery" was performed. Visit 4: oil leak, "solution" new oil pan Interaction: Called them, again about the leak. They were just as perplexed as I was. Service: According to the mechanic, the oil pan needed to be replaced (the manager did make me a very generous offer because I had been there 4 times by this point). Apparently, the threading of the oil pan screw component was not fitting as tight as it once was. That's where the oil was coming from. Well, she is 19 years old. So, that made sense, right!? Needless to say, there was still a leak. But I didn't go back for a 5th time. I went to another mechanic. It was a simple fix. That mechanic found that the screw, to the new oil pan, was not tightened completely. Yup, no more leak. So, customer service was acceptable. But the actual work was questionable. Friendly service here. They are efficient and personable. I like that they have coffee in their lounge and comfortable sofas. Their restroom is decent and clean. They are seriously overpriced though. I paid $75 the first time I was there for a tire rotation. Then a month later, I had my oil changed. I paid $85 for that. That's $25 more than Valvoline. Can y'all price match? Cause wow. I just got taken for a ride by these guys. I told them a check engine light came on and would they diagnose it they said $45 deposit would go towards the repair. They came back and said the tire pressure sensor was bad which I already knew. They said it would be another $200 to diagnose the check engine light. Before leaving, out of curiosity, I asked what tie tire pressure repair would cost and they said $189. I drove two blocks down to M and M and they charged me $90. I saved money even after wasting $45 on Midas diagnostic. I even was thoughtful enough to bring them a doughnut from across the street and they still screwed me! read more

Service reps were soooo aggressive and rude. None of the prices made sense and they were so upset with all of the questions I asked to try and understand why they were charging me so much money. Their diagnostic test was $200 alone. Long story short I walked in for an oil change and got suckered into paying $750 for a new battery, oil change, and for them just touch the car. Insane. I brought my Highlander to Luis at Midas, after speaking with him on the phone. I had my catalytic converter stolen twice within 2 weeks and asked if he could possibly a fix a deterrent of some sort to my car to protect my brand new catalytic converter. Luis assured me they had a fix in mind to help me. For $180 they could install a steel cable that ran the length of my exhaust system on both sides to protect the catalytic converter from being sawed off easily by thieves. Luis came in under his estimate . I was out the door for $159. Also they got the work done in under an hour. I am thrilled with the work that they did. And I feel so much better knowing my car is protected because of Luis's ingenuity. If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would! read more

I never leave reviews to begin with, but just so you know. I went to midas for the first and last time August 24th 2020 for a simple break check and to see prices. After seeing that my breaks could last a little longer I declined the full replacement service and payed the break check fee. Since then NO ONE ELSE has ever touch my tires, not even me. Midas employees are the only people who took off my wheels they were the last people to ever take them off and on. So today I decided to replace the breaks myself (I'm not a novice. I grew up fixing everything: walls, cars, plumbing, electrical, etc. Father's a handyman) Anyway. As I'm turning the lugnuts off I notice that one of them was strangely tight, and lo and behold. MIDAS EMPLOYEES have FORCED the threading from the lugnut to the wheel stud. Mechanically speaking they crossed the threading and torqued it down. I was able to take all the other lugnuts off no problem. But I had to keep turning crossed lugnut loose and the photos should speak for themselves... Needles to say I had to completely remove the rotor to get to the CV axil unit and replace the stud and lugnut. read more

I had an oil change in this shop 6 months ago, unfortunately ,I lost my receipt and I needed the receipt to show my insurance company (AAA) so they can have me keep the same coverage if I only do average mileage/year . So I had to visit this place for a copy and they didn't want to give me unless I change my oil there and I had already changed my oil few weeks ago in another place that I trust!These guys are crooks indeed! They refused to give me a piece of paper unless I give them a business that I don't need! I was wondering why the flat repair was taking longer than usual and then i find out they are doing an oil change out of nowhere! Wtf! Confronted luis and right away he gets offensive and says he hasnt done anything wrong and that he got approval from fleet services. Been coming here for a while now and never had an issue. Until the last two times I came. The man with long hair has no customer service skills and is extremely rude. He yells at customers in front of other customers. He told me I had to pay to top off my oil, which was fine, until he started rambling about how HE is loosing money everyone I come to get my oil top off. Which was only one other time and today. I would've paid the man for topping my oil, but the attitude and the way he was yelling in front of everybody was so unprofessional and I'm disgusted by his behavior. Before leaving he yelled at me and told me to never bring my car to his shop again. Trust me dude, I won't. How is this man a manager? Don't come here unless you want horrible customer service. OVERPRICED, Horrible experience. My car broke down, so they added on a bunch of unnecessary, overpriced items without telling me after it was done. I didn't need $75 spark plugs to fix my starter, but they added it and charged me without asking me (in addition to ~$300 of other items). Additionally, they promised to pay for my rental car for 1 day, saying my car would be ready in 1 day. The next morning, they called tried to give me my car back, and when I refused (I was already on the way to work), they said I would be charged the extra day of the rental car (which is fine). I got a call later that day saying my car would take another day of work, MEANING THEY TRIED TO GIVE ME MY STILL-BROKEN CAR TO SAVE PAYING 1 MORE DAY OF MY RENTAL. When I picked up my car after the second day, they still tried to charge me for the 2nd day of rental. Out of control. read more

If someone was going to offer you a lifetime guarantee on something that you bought for as long as you owned it, wouldn't that be a great guarantee? Of course it would! Midas does exactly that. You buy brakes from them, and they guarantee the pad replacement for free (just pay for labor). Their price for the initial replacement of brakes is actually about the same as the dealer. When I asked the dealer what type of warranty they gave on their brakes, they said that it is only warrantied against defects... nothing more. The choice is simple at that point. You've got to choose Midas. Plus, Kevin (the manager/owner) will give you the best deal that he can on fixing your brakes. He rocks! If you look at the life of your car where paying the labor to replace brakes will run you about $120, after about 4 jobs, you'd spend $1,000 at the dealer, but you'd only spend $600 at Midas. That's a $400 savings over the length of your ownership of the car. How can you go wrong here? You can't! So, give Midas your business once your dealership free replacement ends (usually between 2-4 years after the purchase of a new vehicle). If you've got a used vehicle to begin with, then don't even think about going to the dealership. Give Midas your brake business... you'll be glad that you did. read more

Drove all the way here to be scammed what a stupid policy to charge $50 just to get a estimate for a simple repair. I went down the street to another shop and the guy looked at the truck and gave me a price on the spot. He had me back on the road in 30 minutes. This shop wanted to keep my truck overnight. Hey management I'll never ever come back and I'm telling everyone I know that needs repairs about your policy of charging just to get a estimate. I understand that in order to give a proper quote that you need to survey the job but that shouldn't come out of my pocket specially when it's a simple problem like a new muffler. You could have quoted the repair and said it might cost more and we don't know until it's properly inspected. I had hit a curb pretty hard attempting to avoid a car that came into my lane. I went to Midas because I had great experiences with the one in my home town. This location was very disappointing. I told them there was a sound coming from my car and explained to them what happened. They told me my front rim was the issue and that it would be $800 to replace it. They specifically said my back tire was perfectly fine. While waiting to obtain a new rim, they put my spare wheel on. Even with a different rim my car was still making a sound. I went back to them twice saying my car was making sounds and they said they didn't hear anything. I went to another mechanic and they said my back break pad and rotor was warped and the wheel was in danger of basically falling off. If you have serious concerns, do not take you vehicle here. They will not take you seriously, especially if you're a young woman. read more
