They were charging $79.99 for a synthetic oil change and I went to a Midas in Irvine and they only charged $69.99 and even took off the 30 dollars Midas charged for a Break Inspection which is actually free in Irvine and many other places. I am really dumb founded by all of the negative reviews of this Long Beach Midas. Not biased in any way not do I discount anyone else's experiences but I am truly shocked at some of the things I've been reading I have been taking my car here since I moved to Long Beach 3 years ago. Not only is their customer service amazing (the owner Kevin personally calls me a couple days after every appointment to check and see how the car is doing and ensure I received good service) but they have given me many discounts just for being a repeat customer. Take today for example, someone smashed my driver side mirror and I needed help putting a new one on. Pep Boys wanted to charge me $94 and Midas would have charged the same but did it for $70 for no reason at all except as a thank you for returning to them. They've helped me out with making payments when I needed new tires really badly and couldn't afford it and their prices are reasonable ... believe me I do my homework anytime I need a lot of work done and Midas usually comes in cheapest. And if not? If I let Kevin know he will take the extra time to search for other vendors to be able to match or beat the price. Truth be told though I would pay more for their service because I trust them 100% with my car and I know that if anything did go wrong, they would help me sort it out. Cars are finicky and no where near perfect. They take a beating getting you from place to place and sometimes things don't go as planned. Just the way it is. I have recommended many people go here and now my boyfriend is a believer as well and he has a BMW convertible, not the easiest car to fix, but he will also go no where else except this Midas. I have been going to this Midas since 2006. These guys have taken such good care of my cars throughout the years. They never try to up sell me or do unnecessary work to my car. After I bought a new car, I was taking my car to the dealership which was expensive and I was told to do things to my car that did not apply to my car. At all. I took my car to Midas for the factory recommended service instead and saved over a thousand dollars because they pointed out that my car did not have the component that the dealership was trying to get me to replace. Midas is also really good about explaining what is going on with my car (since I know relatively little). This is the only place I take my car now. Great service! read more

I was heading down Anaheim in Long Beach and my tire light came on as proceeded forward I seen Midas and decided to pull over and ask if they can put air in my tire so I ask the guys that were in the work shop and said I would have to ask the guy in the front . ( Really you have to ask to put air in my tire) so I go to the front and the guys like what do I need so I asked him if he they can put air he said $5 really it's just air I'm like ok he starts walking over to the workshop and turns around and says there on lunch break and your going to have to wait in a rude way! My point he could not take three minutes of his time to put air in my tire! He is one rude dude with no customer service! He just lost a customer I also wanted a price on some tires ! I love this place. I'm a very loyal customer for almost ten years now. They are really helpful and are always willing to help you save money. For example, they would let me know I could drive three more months before I had to replace something. I also love how they offer the lifetime warranty on the parts. I just had to replace all four brake pads but they were all covered so my total was $240 for the labor and machining the rotors. I even received a call two weeks later following up to make sure I was completely satisfied. read more

Had a very bad experience today and I will be disputing the charge. Charged $380. Not sure why....nothing was fixed, or replaced, .....Left my car on Friday because my check engine light was on, and my car was slow to start, I specifically told Luis that I couldn't pick up the car until Tuesday. I specifically asked if it would be a problem snd he repeatedly said no. I was away for work for several days and couldn't not be reached. When I had access to phone line I called in , they recommended a new battery to the tune if 350 dollars and vacuum solenoid valve , hoses and recheck. Total of $1600. I told them I was not sure I wanted to spend that money on the car. I went in on Tuesday to pick up my car, they had taken my battery out and put a new one in without my consent, I called AAA to come and get my car, since Midas left it with my battery on the ground. AAA put my battery back in, tested it, said it was strong and didn't need replacement, just to recharge it, not necessary to spend $350. On a new battery. Outrageous really.. When I tried to reason with the owner on why I was being charged $180 for something that pep boys does for free, the diagnostic he didn't respond very nicely, and why I wasn't warned about the daily change adding up to $200 after I specifically asked about leaving the car on Friday and picking up the car on Tuesday , he was just scary, insulting and just not willing to reason. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. Unfortunately now I have to file a dispute, just taking more time. Seems to me the owner of this business is not very caring. I will find an other place . Less than one star if possible. Currently sitting here - about a year ago I got my tires changed here and the person working on my car failed to give me my tire key back; I own a Scion - you need a special key to unlock the tires. It took me months before I realized that had happened because that's not something I use daily - I call them up and they say they've found it and it's at the front desk to be picked up. When I come in a few weeks later no one knows anything about it, says they'll ask the guy who worked on my car as he should be the one with it and they'd give me a call the next day. Never a call. So here I am sitting in their lobby asking the guy behind the counter about it and needing to get my tire fixed because it's leaking air and he's brushing me off & giving me the worst attitude ever. I asked him to look into the computer to see who did the work on my car to locate my key - these aren't cheap people, and I can't even finish a sentence without him cutting me off and telling me he doesn't know anything about it - Well, then figure it out, it's YOUR job!!! I hate this place with all my being; I wouldn't be here right now if it weren't for the warranty on my tires and my need for the key. I recommend this place to no one unless you want awful/rude customer service and crap service. I will bad mouth this chain and location to EVERYONE I come across. read more

NOT A CERTIFIED STAR SMOG REPAIR SHOP! My monitors were not resetting for my smog check and I was assured they could fix the problem. After I dropped off the car, I was informed they could find NOTHING WRONG (again, not a certified Star shop), but quickly quoted me to fix my front brakes! I was duped for $100 for inspection of my smog system. Again, THEY ARE NOT CERTIFIED to diagnose/fix SMOG ISSUES! And $550 for front brake disc replacement, even including a caliper on an old Toyota was overpriced. MAKE SURE YOU GO TO A CERTIFIED STAR SHOP for emissions work. I had gone to a few places already for the same problem, both concentrated on the wheel parts, brakes, etc. When I took it to midas, they looked at everything and discovered it was the control arm casing that gets worn with miles and it was time to replace it. I went ahead and replaced everything else they suggested and my car is running beautifully since. When I told others about my experience I also discovered that I received a very good and fair price. My mom took her car here to fix the tail light. They told her it would be $60. Also told her it would be just a few minutes, and then it would be complete. 4 and a half hours later, it was finally completed. She went to paycheck $60, then they made her pay another $100 for a diagnostic fee. When she asked why, they told her because she signed the paper giving them permission to run it. The man she spoke to didn't tell her any of that, just the $60. The light still doesn't work properly...I'm really disappointed, we are still in the Covid pandemic and my mom isn't working, they literally her to pay an extra $100 or they wouldn't give her the car back. I find it out that a car repair shop this big would be so greedy to take advantage of older people. read more

Came in the next day with a valid "appointment" only to sit and wait for my car for two hours while another customer who came in after me had her car finished before me. I'm making this on behalf of my cousin she originally took in her car because it was overheating she was first quoted by Luis the manager $160 for a full diagnostic but she said that was overpriced and waited for my brother -in-law to come back in town . Once he returned he then took the vehicle to Midas and was quoted $100 which he agreed to pay for after receiving the copy of the diagnostic it stated the car needed - water pump, thermostat & coolant needed to be repaired which they paid the cost of repairs . After the vehicle was fixed one week later as she was picking up my niece the car was not only over heating but the fluids were coming out and the engine looked like it was bubbling thankfully a gentleman at a auto shop it happened it front of told us to get out the car & they called a tow truck & advised her to return it back to Midas as this should not have been happening . Now today my cousin is sick & has been going back & forth with the manager as now their saying she has to pay for the radiator stating that is the reason for this but the radiator was fine prior to Midas touching the vehicle. Luis was very rude to both my cousin & her husband and did not even wear a mask while speaking to us . I asked for a area manager but said I had to call 800-Midas , this is to bring awareness to this specific location if I could give them a -0 I would it's ridiculous what has happened but we're also taking this further as well . read more

I called them on their shit by showing them my owner manual and they still tried to tell me that "their system says synthetic". Took care of it at Honda instead. Don't trust these guys. Seriously don't let the nice waiting room fool you. They are just money hungry. I used to come here for my oil changes. While I appreciated the included inspection, I always denied additional work because I preferred to go elsewhere for things like new tires. At my last visit, I was asked, "Why don't you ask your other mechanic to do your oil changes? Why do you always refuse our recommendations for additional service?" His tone was rude and condescending. He basically asked me to not come back. Wish I had his name. I was fuming, but I kept my calm, and I vowed to never return to this Midas. Terrible. I went to this place back in September for an oil change, I was told it would take an hour. Two hours later, when they were about to close, I called to see if they had completed the oil change. The manager at the time told me they had finished. When I went to the shop, one of the technicians informed me they forgot to change the oil. After admitting they made a mistake (which is good) they gave me a voucher for a free oil change (also good). So today when I went in, I gave the voucher to the owner, named Kevin something. He informed me that he didn't recognize his own employee's signature and because it wasn't stamped (which there is no way I could've known this was necessary- if it was indeed necessary) they wouldn't honor their own voucher. I asked the owner how else would I have gotten the voucher if I didn't get it from them? He had no answer other than he wouldn't honor his own voucher. After 2 screw ups from this place, it's clear these people are a bunch of clowns. There are many places to go for auto service on Long Beach, I recommend going somewhere else. read more

I was very pleased with my service. They changed the oil, headlight, and oil cap with quality parts for my Mercedes C230 Kompressor, at a fraction of what they charge at the dealer. They also honored the online coupons. The lobby is small but well kept stocked with water and coffee. They explained everything to me and answered all my questions. Great customer service. She lied and told me that my engine had sludge and that I needed to pay for a diagnostics test and probably needed to have my engine flushed (I had brought my car in for a oil change!). After getting a second opinion I found that there was nothing wrong with my engine and I was furious that I almost believed Midas and paid the money FOR A REPAIR THAT I DIDN'T NEED. Nothing infuriates me more than mechanics trying to take advantage of the public. Do yourself a favor and take your car to Herb and Red's on 7th street. He proceeded to call me 3 times lowering the price each time. My issue- Why/HOW can somewhere charge such a high price and then when someone knows that it is too high, they begin to drop the price? Called in ahead and asked for a quote for turning rotors. The person on the phone Maurice said if I was sure if it was the rotors or possibly brakes. He scheduled me in for a free brake inspection and after that the mechanic did in fact determine it was the rotors because of the pulsating stop and after he did the inspection. I'm very cautious on mechanics working on my car I sat and watched the entire time and they do a thorough inspection I was quite happy. I ended up getting my front rotors turned and will be back for any other car needs I left happy my car feels like new again no more shaking! Worst Customer Service ever! I received a coupon for an oil change for their store only. The other day I decided to go in and see if I could use their store specific coupon. I pulled in around 1pm, there were a few people working in the garage. I came in and stood at the front desk for about 10mins. Which wouldn't bother me if they were busy. However, the guys out in the garage were working, but a few times they looked up and made eye contact and saw me waiting for someone. After about ten minutes, I called from my cell inside the waiting room and it rang and rang and rang. Finally I guy answered and I told him that i was at the front desk and asked if someone could help me. He hung up not saying anything. He walked in quickly and asked shortly how long i was waiting, i answered 10 minutes. And being very short again asked what I wanted. I showed him the coupon, he seemed offended that I was wasting his time. Again being short said I couldn't use it and I would have to make an appointment for a later date. I said ok... He asked for my info quickly... made little eye contact and I felt that he didn't want me to use a coupon and waste his time. I left decided to not ever go there again or to my appointment and spend a few dollars more for better customer service! That will always make me come back to the same place. read more
