If you want a professional & honest place to take your car DON'T COME HERE!!!!! I am furious and completely disappointed at the service that my mom received from this place when she took in her car last week. She originally took in her car at the beginning of the week for a simple oil change, three days later her car breaks down because two of the hoses that are connected to the transmission came undone.(which is suspicious because I was told by another mechanic that those hoses usually don't just come undone, they're clamped on pretty tightly). She had it towed to Midas to have it checked out. And they told her that all the fluid leaked out of the hoses when they came undone so they needed to replace the hoses, fluid, radiator, & condenser which would cost $1100! So they replaced the parts and fluid only to find out later that day they told her now she needs a new transmission (because the car was not going into gear) and that would cost a total of $3000!!! (which included the work they had already done). She was at a loss of words. Her car is not even worth that much money and why didn't they mention the transmission problem before they fixed the other stuff?? Don't you have to change gears (into neutral) to get the car into the shop from the tow truck?? Shouldn't you have realized at that time (before any work was done) that there's likely a transmission problem too and relay that information to my mom before she decided to pay for any repairs???!! And especially since losing the fluid from the hoses that were connected to the transmission would have likely caused the transmission to fry!!! (Which I was also told by a trusted mechanic (not at Midas, obviously)). I'm positive that if she knew that the transmission needed to be replaced she wouldn't have had any work done at all. Which is probably why they waited til she was already knee deep in repairs to tell her about the transmission. After all that my mom finally went into Midas to complain and they were very quick to lower the price by half (maybe because they knew they were wrong!), but my mom will NEVER take her car here again!! If she didn't complain she would have been stuck with a $3000 bill!!!! I will tell all my family and friends to NEVER come here! They are the worst!!! They're either incompetent, careless, or dishonest! Either way I wouldn't trust them with my car. Save yourself the headache, money, and frustration and GO ELSEWHERE!!!!! And just FYI: this is not the first time I've heard of their shoddy, dishonest work on cars. My brother also had work done here a couple years ago and a couple days after he had the work done he lost his steering wheel on the FREEWAY!!! Luckily he survived to tell the story. Coincidence? I thought I was going to have problems at first because I made my appointment online & never got a confirmation for the time, either by phone or email. I ended up calling 3x. When i got here, Reuven (very nice!!) knew who I was right away. Right now I'm waiting for them to check the engine light & other stuff. I am advising my boyfriend to take legal action. "If I could give no stars I would. I have had an absolutely terrible experience with this location. I have been coming every week for some issue or another. I keep paying them and they keep saying that they are fixing my car, but the car continues to have problems. I just recently installed a new engine which was more than $5000. They told me my car would work perfectly after that. Instead it stalls, dies, leaks, now it's making a wheezing noise. STRAIGHT TRASH!!! Avoid this place at all costs. I called in on Friday to ask about possibly taking my car in for a simple oil change. They explained to me that they were booked and that tomorrow Saturday morning would be better for me. So I got there as soon as it opened (which was 8am) there were 4 people in front of me. They rang me up at 8:18 for my oil change and explained to me that it would take 2-3 hours. I didn't mind the time because I had a dentist appointment at Western Dental (which by the way as TRASH service just like this spot), so I thought by the time I'm done over there my car should be done. I called Midas at 11am to check the status of my vehicle. They said they were BARELY taking it to the back do to the oil change and it should take about another hour at most. Which I was a bit bothered however, it was gonna be done soon (me thinking). When I arrived at 12pm in the afternoon to pick up my car. I asked Reuben (who I guess is the owner of this establishment, which is straight trash as well) that I was there to pick up my car. He went to go check the back and told me when he returned that they are barely gonna put the car in to do the oil change. Which was a lie! My car was not even inside the garage. It was outside. I was fucking livid, I told him that I waited 4 hours for my car to get a oil change. He said it was gonna take a while longer and didn't they tell you. I explained to him that the person who took my car said 2-3 hours. I called earlier to see if my car was done and was told another hour and my car isn't even in the process of the oil change. I told him to give me my car back and I left that piece of shit store. Then to top it off I noticed they reset my oil and I have it at 100%. They didn't even touch the oil, yet somehow found time to reset the oil gauge on my car. Worse service. Do not trust them when it comes to time because they won't give you a proper estimate. If I was Reuben I'd be embarrassed to be an owner and work there and show my face, oh well at least you can look the piece of shit in the eye as you're telling them off. Fuck Midas!!! read more

It all started when I called to get a price on alignment for my F150 and they told me it was $89.99, my plan was to take it on the weekend which I did and to my surprise the price went up in a couple of days to $125.00. When I told Ben that because I really need the work done I was going to leave my truck but I wanted a phone number to headquarters so I could tell them about the price issue Ben threw my keys back n the counter and told me to get out. At that point I'm thinking that Ben just wanted some extra cash in his pocket for the weekend and didn't want me to question it. Ben is the most unprofessional worker who needs a lot of customer service training, so I found a better and more convenient for me where the customer is treated right. *Review update* The previous time I was here I was pretty upset because of what was done to my car. However after speaking with Reuven, my car is now getting fixed. I have been coming here for years and instead of posting something so negative I should of spoken to him first. My new parts were ordered directly from Honda, I appreciate the work that this team does. Despite my rude and unnecessary comments, the team was still able to remain kind and professional with me. Had my clutch replaced next day found oil leaking and a bolt missing. I am at Midas now let's see what they do for me. Ok the bolt was replaced and the leak was fixed it was a axel seal that may have been damaged when the clutch was replaced. I took my car for an oil changer earlier this month which everything was going great until I found out that my car was leaking oil . I also noticed there were some engine oil lights that turned on. I went to get it fixed at Midas and spend a total of 7 hours waiting for them to see if they were able to fix my car which unfortunately, they were not able to. I looked at my paperwork from the oil change I did earlier this month to find out they knew they're was an oil leak and they never told me anything about it. They also give me a call that they were going to charge me 1100 to change brakes and change some sensors which is the complete opposite of what I went for. This place just rips people off. I had to miss work for them to not be able to change the oil leak that they knew about and never told me anything about it. According to them they couldn't find the oil leak and they asked me to drive it around for a few more days which would cause more damage. I told them to change the brakes in my car since I know I needed to and since I was already there I thought might as well get them done and they gave me one price over the phone and a complete different one when I get there (100 dollar difference) . I highly advise for people to take their cars elsewhere! Everyone in my family told me they charged me way too much for brakes Update I had to get a mechanic who informed me that when Midas did the oil change they forgot to put a part back on and all the oil was leaking (they were able to figure this out in less than an hour (let me remind you I waited seven hours to be told they couldn't find anything and they also charged me for an engine cleaning fee) Probably a scam trying to get people to return and spend more money for their negligence They also claimed they didn't know Smh read more

I am so thankful that I have gotten to know the team at Midas! I ran into car trouble a few times and they have come to my rescue each and every time. This was not a brake problem like they are known for. They did major work on my engine at a lower cost than every other mechanic that I took it to. Rip off and sneaky! Do not trust them! Especially Benjamin, the store manager, with poor and rude customer service and management skills. I advise everyone to take my review under consideration before having any business/ customer relations. My first visit consisted of changing my tires, which we signed up for a credit card and Benjamin told us that the tires had a warranty and DID NOT offer any extra warranty/ road hazard. Two days later I had to put air in my front right tire because it was flat. It is very frustrating as a customer to have this issue, especially when the tires are suppose to be brand new. When I returned to this shop, Benjamin assisted me again and stated that I have a nail in my tire and I must have dropped nails at my house for it to puncture and flatten my tire. Now his observation is extremely inaccurate because I live in an apartment complex where mechanical work is prohibited onsite and I do not have the slightest idea on how to execute mechanical work. I explained that to Benjamin and told him that the chances of it coming from my location is slim to none; on the other hand, the nail coming from the Norwalk Midas is extremely high since some of their tools consists of nails. He continued to disagree with me and say that it's not their fault, but they will patch the hole. I believed they fixed my tire, but I was fooled. About 2 months later, I have a flat tire again in the same front right tire. I decided to take it to a different shop, Just Tires, to get an outside opinion and the associate explained to me that whoever repaired that tire put a plug in it which is not suppose to happen because the location of the hole is on the outer rim of the tire and that is a hazard. At this point, Benjamin and the Norwalk Midas has lost all credibility with me. Unfortunately, I was on a budget from the holiday spending and I could not replace my tire right away. I waited two days and went to a different Midas and had the best customer service from Monrovia Midas. When they helped me, they called Benjamin to figure out a solution, but Benjamin was not willing to help. In the end, I decided to pay for a new tire at the Monrovia Midas because of their willingness to help me. Money is not the issue here. I do not mind paying when the value is there. There are no values at the Norwalk location and they DO NOT put the customer first. I hope whoever reads this understands that there is a high risk and contemplates if it's worth using Norwalk Midas services. read more

Came back after having it serviced last year. This year was not so great service at all! Car was dropped off in morning and didn't get a call until we decided to call five hours later to see what update was. They said that car had to be left there overnight. We decided to pick up and take elsewhere. It's hard to believe that car was there all day and when we called FIVE hours later they asked us what was wrong with it?! Really?! Waste of time! I definitely love this Midas! My car started making a weird noise so I brought it in. They did a full examination of it and it turned out there was just a rock that got into my tire so an easy fix. I was expecting to probably pay $20-40 for just the checkup since they spent about 30 mins diagnosing and fixing the problem but no, they did it all free of charge! It is the only place I trust to get everything from oil changes to brake pads. If you are looking for a good honest mechanic, this is the place to go. read more

Ruben was the gentleman that assisted me. I brought in a car I was considering purchasing, and wanted to have it checked out prior to making a $5k+ investment. The inspection was very reasonably priced, I want to say like $50 or something. Either way, it was money well spent. The car needed catalytic converters ($1200 each, there's two), tires, brakes, and at least a tune up. So, when I went back to the dealership, they weren't willing to get the stuff fixed or drop the price to compensate for the repairs. Will definitely be bringing cars back to have them checked out. Despite what this review may look like, I hate being negative but if this saves one person the hassle of unnecessary stress then I guess it is worth it. Having my own mechanics has always been a great advantage but it does not help me when I break down on the road. At about 7:30 a.m. the radiator heater hose broke on my car right in front of this shop so I figured the best way to deal with the situation was to just drive in and see if they could patch me up and get me back on the road. The break was like 2 or three pinholes and the water was squirting right on the side of the block so that there was a fair amount of steam coming out, the engine tempurature was fine, the water level was fine, it was just leaking and steaming. At first request the service writer told me that I had blown the engine because it was over heated and that I had driven it for at least 15 minutes overheated for it to steam that way (he did not go out to the car, this was his observation from about 75 feet away). I told him that it was not the case and that the coolant / water was fine and that the car was not overheating, it was just a crack in my hose. So I had someone come pick me up, left it there for repairs and told them to go ahead and service the cooling system, flush the radiator and recharge the A/C since I was there. They told me they would call me when it was done. At about 2 p.m. I got a call telling me that it would be about $1400.00 and that they needed to drain the transmission, change out the front brake pads, front rotors, rear shoes and replace the drums. He told me that the wrong drums were on the car (which were placed there by the dealer less than 10,000 miles ago. He said the transmission filter was clogged (also an item that had been replaced at the dealer at 65,000 miles). Call me crazy but I tend to trust my dealer a tad more than the corner muffler shop. I told them to just do the work that I requested and to let me know when to pick up the car. They called me the next day and informed me that it was ready, it took them a day to get the parts. They charged the A/C and flushed the cooling system and spliced in a new piece of hose (not a replacement factory one but I little spliced piece with aftermarket parts which they did tell me that they were going to do in an attempt to save some money). My wife and I went in and paid the $308.00. Drove it home, the A/C blows warm air only (which prior to service it would blow cool, just not cold) once we got home, which was fairly close I noticed water leaking out of the engine compartment. Opened the hood and sure enough I have no cap on my upper radiator hose. This is certainly my fault because I should have checked it prior to leaving. The people here are nice, very personable, but they do what mechanics get bad names for and that is trying to pad bills and sell you what you don't need. The service obviously is not that great because I now have to buy a new cap. They were very nice about the A/C not working and the cap missing and they want me to bring it back to make it right but I am going to take care of it myself and just write it off to stupidity on my part. I also do not want to have anything "new" pop up. The automatic tranmission has not shifted right since we picked it up. Going to have to swing by the dealer and have them give it a thorough inspection. Almost $1400.00 for a broken hose... Got out of there for under $400.00 but repairs not really done. read more

So they offered to polish my rims, detail the car, and repair the interior. BUT...before I had a chance to drop the car, the check engine light popped on WOW!!! The power steering is also making a grinding noise (which was not happening before they replaced the pump). So, I took it to the mechanic across the street from Midas. He hooked it up to a scanner, popped the hood and showed me two hoses just dangling not connected to anything. He went and got a tool, connected both hoses for me and recommended a new battery. All in 5min and free of charge, even though his shop was super packed. read more

Swapped tranny pan + gasket. Neglected to fill fluid to appropriate level. Was getting this hesitation on acceleration. Ugh, I thought franchise meant consistent. I refilled the fluid myself and everything is fine. Why not take it back and have them refill...? I do not need an incompetent mechanic bumbling under an otherwise fine auto--or maybe my brake fluid suddenly disappears. They did half a job. Thanks! read more
