After getting an estimate for $369 for 2 tailpipes (I expected to pay $150-200) I said get my car off the lift I need to leave. He came down to $275 I said bye bye!. Went down the road to Woody's mufflers...the very honest and hard working latin guy thought he was shooting me a high price at $160...LOL...I snapped it up....he drove me home, did the job, picked me up so I tipped him!! This Midas shop is what we call "pirates" ....they shoot a very high price then watch your reaction.....then if hesitation they drop down to a still high price....This guy called me at home the next day to tell me he overpriced the job. I said "I know". This guy is a gouger... He will always try the upsell and extracting the maximum amount for small work but make it sound very difficult ...I just got (2) tailpipes priced...each maybe 4-5 feet of pipe for $365. Holy smoke....a regular shop will do it for $150. I overheard customers complaining about upsell crap while I was waiting....stay away ...especially woman....and guys who don't know cars well...In my opinion he is a pirate....robbing all he can from each and every job. So very long post here -- I work next door to Midas. One day I got out of work to my car not starting. I went into the Midas and two men came out to the parking lot with me Ben (who is the manager) and a mechanic. After I started the car for them they told me it was the alternator...after $300 and a few hours I was informed there was no longer a problem. Well... after one whole day there was still a problem. Went to turn my car on and AGAIN it would not start. So I made the trip back to Midas and they told me that my car was starting up fine and there was nothing wrong with it & that it would be the battery if there was something wrong... so I came back home and the next day THE SAME THING! Frustrated because this was the THIRD time I was going I made the trip again (I don't live nearby & am only in the area for work) and they told me it was my battery... (I had an insured battery through triple a and triple a had checked it prior to me taking it and said it was fine) so I was upset because I possible had spent $300 when all along it was my battery? I knew they had misdiagnosed it but I didn't say anything because they ended up replacing the battery. I was mad at the end of this because I knew I paid $300 for nothing. I even told them it didn't make sense to me on why they never checked the battery before they told me it was the alternator and they fed me some bullshit about how a bad alternator can make a battery bad and idk what so being that ima girl and I don't really have the slight idea on what they were talking about I TRUSTED that they knew what they were doing and was on my way with a new battery. They kept my triple a battery and replaced it with one of theirs. A few weeks later I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN! by now they've cost me multiple call outs at work, they cost me gas, and my TIME. So I was furious. I took the car in and they said they'd call me. Hours went by and went back to the store and asked if they had any news yet? Since they didn't call. They told me that the alarm on my car was draining my battery so furious I told them so you mean to tell me the first time I came and spent $300 was for nothing? You guys told me you had fixed the problem and this is the FOURTH TIME im here for the same thing. And now ur going to tell me this couldve all been avoided simply if I unconnected my battery? At this point I was dealing with the owner Reuben. As mad As i was I decided to bring the car nack on Monday so it can stay over night and they can "monitor it". OHH IT GETS BETTER so the mechanic tells me ok and I walk to my car. I go to turn it on and AGAIN it didn't start up after they had just told me it was starting up. At this point all of the mechanics were there and heard my car turn over but not start. Michael the mechanic and Reuben came out and Michael asked "has it always done that?" I said "yes I've been telling you guys!" & Michael turned to Reuben and said "how come that wasn't in the notes!?" And I said "I told him that's what the car was doing!" Michael went and hit the starter and the car turned on. Reuben then got very unprofessional and refused to work on my car further. He stated "no we are not going to work on your car because then something else is going to break and your going to blame us" so he ACCUSED ME of another part breaking and saying they never fixed the problem when FROM THE BEGINING THATS WHAT MY CAR HAD BEEN DOING! Turns out MY STARTER WAS GOING OUT!!!!! It was never the alternator or the battery or the alarm! IT WAS THE STARTER. He lost his cool to the point where I had to ask him "are you the owner" and he said "yes" and I said "your very unprofessional!" The owner couldn't admit wrong doing at all or even apologize. His mechanic Michael had to infact tell him to go inside the shop because of how unprofessional he was acting. They mis diagnosed my car from the beginning and starting putting parts and taking parts without even knowing what was wrong. At the end of this I didn't receive not even an Im sorry. After Reuben went into the shop Michael said he would fix my car. At this point I was tired of arguing and being treated as if I was a crook and was taking them for their money or something. My car was messing up so I took it to them and it was their job to fix the problem. I am not at fault for them mis diagnosing my car. I left after Michael and Saufixed my car but I was never issued a refund or anything like that. I technically paid $300 for a starter WHICH IS CHEAPER THAN AN ALTERNATOR. Horrible service. Customer service STILL has yet to reach out to me... I've been calling since SEPTEMBER ! read more

So a little over a year ago I took in my car to have the brakes replaced, Now when I first took it in years before that I was told that they would recommend a higher performance brake since my car is a sports car and would work better, so I agreed and went with it, which is why I went back. So when they were working on my car they saw the shocks and struts leaking and told me that they needed to be replaced, so I agreed. That day I spent close to 2 grand on getting new brakes and new shocks for my car. Then later About two weeks I started to hear a grinding noise when I reversed and turned left so I took it in, I was told that my cars "arms" needed to get replaced and it would cost me about 900 dollars to replace, so I guess my car needed it and went with it. So then a week passes by and it makes the noise again, so I take it back and then they tell me it's one of the shocks that needs to get replaced. So now I'm here thinking was it really necessary to change the "arms" that was causing the grinding? So I let it be and just change the shock as I was advised. So now it's been over a year and my brakes squeak like it's due for a replacement, and guess what!? That grinding noise is back aswell. So I take it in and see what it is, it's the shock (surprise, surprise) and it needs to get replaced, but now they offer one that's more "complete" and it's going to cost me more in order to replace it along with the labor. Brakes are still fine however they squeak because the type of car that I drive and possibly the way I drive since it is a sports car. So I'm obviously upset and they know I'm upset because I spent a close to 3 grand in less than a month and I'm having the same issues. Now they offered to change the brakes aswell however I would have to pay the difference and the labor. So at this point I just leave. Now, I'm thinking was it really necessary to change the "arms" on my car if it kept grinding regardless of the repair and it was only the shock. So it's safe to say that my car was misdiagnosed and now I'm out that amount and now they are willing to fix the rest however it's gonna cost me another 4 hundred dollars to do so. At this point I'm cutting my loses and never ever going back and take my business elsewhere hopefully somewhere I can trust again. I should have said something the third time I went back however that's what I get for being nice and taking their word for it.... read more

Just last week, I was in Santa Monica and had to call AAA to start my car. The rep told me that more than likely, it was the starter. After calling and speaking with Reuben, I drove straight over. They immediately got to work on it---added an oil change that I requested and recommended that the air filter be changed. No gimmicks or extra charges for unrelated 'repairs'. Why bother making an online appointment? I found this midas through their website yesterday and proceeded in making an appointment for today between the hours of 11am and 1 PM. I get there at 12:30pm and they have no idea that I made an online appointment. I show them my email and they just can't service me. The guy goes on to tell me to make an appointment for tomorrow but due to work I cant and even then ask if he can set me up with a time to come on Friday. He then tells me to "come in early." Really? Oh well, guess I'll just take my car for service at the toyota dealership. At least they'll be able to give me a set time and not waste my time. read more

I wish yelp had a ( -1) star rating because even 1 star is too much for this shop. Stay away from this place. There are a couple of Hispanics that can barely speak English that do the job. They have selective agenda. The manager's is some guy named Reuben, wears glasses. He is middle eastern and with a man of accent. If you can believe his English was the out of all, imagine how much worse the others speak?. I came to get an alignment on Sat 3-21-15, they said they were closing but they had 30 minutes left, maybe they had 1more car to close shop. So they told me to come back Monday at 7am. I show up today at 730am and the front desk guy is walking out the door talking to a girl and tells me that he can't do it because their machine is too high in his broken English. Guy hasn't even seen the front of my car. They send me to pepboys a cross the street. So the guy at pep boys helped me stage car to prove my car would make it. His mechanic isn't in until 8 am. So I went back to midas and waited for the next employee to help me. Low and behold the Hispanic guy just walks to the back and get Reuben, the same guy that I talked to on Sat. He asks me if he had talked to me before I said, yes Sat. He walks me outside and clearly tells me in strong attitude "I don't want to work in your car man!" So I'm now very confused because I'm a paying customer but they wouldn't even try. I assured them that their machine is not too high, and we can stage it and simply look if it was too high of a ramp. He got heated and reiterated that it's not the machine, but he just didn't want to work on my car. So I asked him if it was ok to take his name. And he totally switched his tone of voice and asked "have you been here before?" I answered yes with different vehicles. So we walk back inside and his attitude totally changed to helpful "let me see what we can do kind of attitude" because there were other customers inside now. So he said he confused my blue car with a black one that came earlier he had turned down. He said he had tried it before but that he had issues with similar cars and he would not warrant any damage so he wouldn't like to work on my car for that reason. It conclusion, I walked away with his business card, and an observation that that they simply do not know how to work with Euro cars. Regardless if they would of tried to give me a deal or just try to stage the, I wouldn't have left my car there, if they have that type of treatment to customers from the get go, how would the rest of the business been handled? What save to have drive away. The run around, the 3rd world country staff, the attitude, and the tone of address the issue was horrible. This shop is a hoax and a complete waste of space in Norwalk. If you want something done by a professional, go elsewhere. ANYWHERE else. As I walk away the guys says he's not one to turn away any business and appreciate all sorts of business his way. Wth? I think he knew I was going to report this, so he asked me for my name and phone number to check his system. I wouldn't doubt that was a an attempt to bamboozle me into giving him a reason to look up any review by that name. I ended up at pepboys down the street, a cross the street from 99cent store. Guys seriously, if you value your money, car, and time skip this carnival ride.
