Honest, fast and friendly A few weeks ago, our 2007 Honda Accord developed loud noises in the exhaust system. We didn't know how bad the problem was. A dealer recommended that we replace the entire exhaust system including the muffler and catalytic converter at the cost of several thousand dollars. We decided to get a second opinion from the Wheaton Midas shop. We left the car there near closing time expecting that it would take time to get fixed at a cost we could not predict. To our surprise, we received a call as we were driving home in a separate car from Adam, a manager, saying that the problem was minor and could be repaired quickly within the next 30 minutes. The cost, less then a tenth of what the dealer estimated. From drop-off to pickup to pickup, it was less than an hour. What made experience even more pleasant, was the friendliness of Adam and his work colleague, despite having a rather hectic day with lots of customers waiting about. I wish all car repair shops were as honest and efficient as the Wheaton Midas branch. read more

I went in there with a host of problems on my car. Unlike other body shops that I've gone to, they only worked on those issues that I mentioned and did not do anything to my car without my approval. They were brutally honest and understanding. I was in and out in the time frame that they told me and worked with me on the pricing. The only reason that I'm giving them 3/5 stars b/c they are expensive. They being said...I think it was the quality of service that I received from them that made me less upset about the charged amount. Hope this helps. read more

This was my first time visiting MIDAS in Wheaton. I was in a hurry to find a place to fix my leaking tire with a nail puncture on it. Since I had to leave early for my trip next morning, I had no choice but to find a place for the repair. After being turned down by two other repair shops due to the late hours, I called MIDAS in Wheaton 10 minutes prior to its closing time. I had my teenager go get an oil change. He didn't go where I told him to go. He went to Midas. It was quick easy Service was good. Only They installed the drain plug incorrectly. My son drove around with the oil leaking out and the oil light on for a week. I took The Jetta to Firestone. And they found the mistake. I recently visited this Midas location in Wheaton and I am so grateful I came here - I walked in w/o an appointment mid monday morning and they were able to take care of my oil change. They went above and beyond with the services by changing the fluid for my windshield cleaner and adding air to my tires. Will definitely be coming back here since it is so conveniently located near my home. I have been bringing my car to this Midas for three years. They have completed simple service like oil changes and more complicated repairs. I have consistently had great service from start to finish. I'm military so I move a lot and I'm forced to find a new mechanic every three years or so. I wish I could transport this shop to my next duty station! As I female, I always worry about getting overcharged or ripped off. The guys here were always honest about what I needed and what I didn't. I highly recommend this shop to anyone who needs an honest and reliable mechanic for their vehicle. read more

Had problems with my Hyundai's crank shaft sensor and paid a hefty sum for the labor of taking the engine apart to get to it and replace it. So now a few years later we started having the SAME problem with the SAME exact part and it turns out our Midas technician here in Las Vegas verified that the part was never replaced, but some wires were spliced together very crudely because they didn't want to do the work or pay for the new part. So essentially Wheaton Midas charged me for A)Labor they didn't do B)A part they didn't replace and now we are paying for it a few years down the road to get the job done right by a Midas run by a more honest technician here in Vegas. A very costly mistake to go here. Shame on them for being dishonest and not doing the job right! read more

I would give this zero stars if that were possible. These people will rip you off if they think they can get away with it. Avoid at all costs. I dropped off my 2007 Toyota Rav-4 (about 138,000 miles) just to get an oil change. They said they would let me know if they ran into any problems. The short version is that they essentially stripped the grooves on the inside of my oil pan so it began to leak oil. At first they said it was just the plug itself and they would order a replacement for like $15. Then when I brought it back for them to put this new plug in, they said it was actually the pan itself and they needed to replace the whole thing to the tune of $500. So I ended up having to take it to the dealer to pay them $700 because Midas refused to fix their mistake (without me paying for it). My complaint to their regional folks went nowhere so I am now planning to sue them. Save yourself the trouble. read more

Just finished getting an oil change and tire rotation. I was in and out in 45 minutes. No fuss, no worries. I recommend this establishment.

My car decided to have a minor "freak out" a couple of days. After much debate of what the problem was...and my fear of driving it beyond the limits of our driveway...I dealt with the fear and drove it to the nearest repair shop. I explained the "freak out" and the guys at Midas decided to run a battery test. As it turns out, the battery was fine; however, there was a loose connection to one of the battery terminals. They did the battery test and fixed the loose connection for FREE! Midas...you guys ROCK!!! read more

Clean location. Seem friendly and honest enough. Lots of stuff to walk to while they work on your car. I also drove by jiffy lube nearby in kensington and they were much ruder and tried to sell me up. The location was alos filthy looking. Very impressed with my service this morning at Midas Wheaton! Based on other yelpers, I went here for an emergency repair. I thought the loud noise it was my muffler but it was my rear shocks - one was completely rusted out and banging on the car. I was greeted cheerfully, the problem was diagnosed quickly, estimate provided. I had a pressing appointment and they met my needs exactly on time - I was in and out within 3 hours. Dropped off my car at 10:15am on Thursday to get an oil change. First time getting an oil change since I got it two months ago. I previously had gone to Firestone when I used my fathers car to get an oil change but decided to give this place a chance based on yelp reviews. Dropped it off and was told my car would be next and the process should take 20 minutes if I wanted to wait. Also, asked to have the brakes looked at since it makes a noise when I drive. I live down the street so walked home to take care of stuff. Down side, it was 12:30pm and still no car. Tomorrow Friday I was supposed to get my car detailed but due to the weather they asked to come today. And no car. I called Dimas and the guy who answered told me he was just about to call me. He told me the brakes were good and appeared new. He said he didn't hear any noise. They didn't charge me for looking at he brakes which was awesome! Great service. Only down side is that once I drove off I heard the noise and the time length it took. I was expecting maximum an hour. read more

I've gone to this location several times and my experience has been pretty good with only one bad experience. The bad experience was several years ago when the mechanic tried to lead me to believe that my brake problem was much worse than in actuality (I got second opinion that was $200 less than Midas estimate and not nearly as dire). If you understand cars and how they work, there's less likelyhood of deceit. My most recent experience (in the fall of 2014) was excellent. My older car needed a replacement muffler. I had several years back purchased the lifetime muffler guarantee and I therefore came in for that replacement. They DO NOT KEEP RECORDS OF THESE PURCHASES, so YOU MUST PRESENT YOUR PRIOR RECEIPT, to prove you made the purchase and you are eligible for the guarantee. Also, the muffler itself is free, not the labor. If you want a particular kind of muffler, state that when requesting services as they will choose the cheapest solution. Since the type of muffler for my car needed to be ordered, they offered for me to COME BACK in 2 hours when it was to arrive and then do the work at that time which I thought was fantastic (rather than waiting at the shop until my part arrived or having to leave it all day and then dealing with transportation issues). When my part arrived (and I had subsequently returned within the 2 hour window), the work was completed within 30 minutes. My mechanic and the front desk staff were knowledgeable, professional and friendly. So if you need an exhaust system repair, be clear about what you want and the service will be done professionally. read more

Eric and Aaron are great, honest and know what they are doing. They work on both my "fix or repair daily" Ford Taurus and my Lexus. They tell you candidly when something is not worth the money to repair and when something is dangerous. Recently, three dashboard lights were blinking on the Lexus. Eric immediately diagnosed the problem as a worn gas cap which cost $25 to replace. A shyster could easily have taken me for several hundred dollars. If you want honesty and professional service, these are the people you should patronize. read more

I had my muffler and air conditioning belt replaced for $650. Midas completed the work in 2 hours. The staff was very helpful in showing me the location of the rusted hole in my muffler line and the indications on the Air conditioning belt. Staff was also friendly. read more

Overpriced oil change. Went in as a first time customer under the expectation that I would get an oil change/tire rotation etc. walked out of there with a $70 bill, after the so called "$10 dollars off" which was added right back on with so called "fees". Also was provided no summary of other services performed which led me to believe I just wasted half a day's pay on oil. Won't be returning. read more

i just bought a car and the check egine light came on, after calling around to price how much it would cost to run engine codes i called this midas, they charged me half of what the other shops were charging and 1/3 of what the dealership was charging i took my car here and not only did they check for everything under the sun but they were really honest about what was going on under the hood of my car. They did a quick fix and got the light off and i was on my way in 20 mins. this midas has really great techs, and they are honest and friendly which was great especially being a woman, most mechanics just tell you a bunch of stuff is wrong with the car and don't bother to explain what all this stuff means so midas you guys are awsome thanks!!!! read more

I went in to fix a minor problem - while the car was on the lift, the mechanic pointed out that my break pads were worn and should be replaced soon. We visually inspected them and I agreed. after the breaks were replaced, the breaks began grinding and making high pitched squealing noises. i brought it back and they are now claiming that the rotors are bad. Except that when we inspected the breaks just days ago, no mention was made of it and they looked good to both the initial mechanic and me. I'm convinced they inflicted damage or swapped out my good rotors for bad. I've already sunk $700 into this and refuse to give them a penny more. avoid at all costs. read more

The address that is on Yelp is incorrect, the location is in Germantown MD 20876. the phone number is correct on Yelp. The reason why I'm pointing this out in my review because I was told by the manager to give them a good review but after evaluating my customer experience, I can see why they have mix matched their business info on this site because of too many complaints maybe.I really felt comfortable taking my vehicle to this Midas place for the first time and I was refereed by a friend. I know a lot of businesses try to raise prices on parts but this was too obvious and excessive. The part was an ignition switch that was charged to me at $145.54. When I could have brought my own part at advance auto parts for $51.99 not including tax. The manager is very cocky, and his intentions seems to be good until you actually see what you are really paying for. I have no problem with the mechanic service but the parts was over charged and the manager told me they can raised the price of the parts to what they see fit, if I would have known the actual price for the part at that point and time, I would have went and got my own part for the vehicle. If you decide to go there, make sure you know the price of the part or you could be charged double or triple because the consumer is the last part of their concern. I just want fair and honest practices but I think I would be asking for too much. read more
